I, Cole Trickster, also reject Athena as a member of the White moon pack, hereby declaring her as a rogue," Cole looked at Athena bloodshot. Athena, who never expected him to do something like this, fell to her knees before an ear-piercing scream left her mouth. Chapter-1 Fiery Passion It was the second week since Athena's father died. Martyred in the rogue attack on the pack two weeks ago, her dad, the Gama of the pack, was one of the warriors who lost their lives in the brutal fight. Athena's mother died giving birth to her, and now her father was gone, too. After having lost both of her guardians and no direct relative to take care of her, she was devastated. To survive alone, she had to carry a facade. A facade of being strong and independent. Seeing her cold and aloof, glaring at everyone most of the time, everyone started maintaining their distance from her. Except for two people. Alpha's son, Cole, her lover, and her bully, the future Beta, Jake. Cole and she were a perfect match made in heaven, or thatโ€™s what Athena thought. Having been crushing on her best friend since childhood, she knew he was the best guy for her. After her parents' death, he was her only love and hope in life. Though she didnโ€™t want to ruin her friendship with him over brief fantasies, she knew something was there between them. Even her wolf, Celine, agreed with her. Cole had hinted to her he liked her, and she wanted to be the one by his side for the rest of her life, but the only thing stopping them was the mate bond. They didn't know if they were each other's mates. A mate bond was considered the most sacred bond in their country, unlike others where chosen mates were allowed. Cole's eighteenth birthday has already passed, and since he didnโ€™t mention finding his mate, she was now more sure that she was his mate. Though he has said nothing about her being his mate, maybe, it was because he didn't want to burden her uselessly. She has noticed how Cole gets jealous and possessive of her even after his birthday. That gaze he throws at her all the time can't be mistaken for a friendship gaze. Athena smiled at the mere imagination of being loved by Cole. The wait was for only a year more till she'll find out Cole is her mate. Once her wolf howls in approval for Cole's wolf, she knows they will complete the mating ceremony on the same day, and Cole will give her the best he always promised her. Smiling at the thoughts clouding her mind after attending to her father's grave and telling him everything about how she has been trying her best to live her life happily, Athena decided to stop by Cole's family farmhouse to relax. Cole had given her the keys to this farmhouse because his parents were never here, and he wanted her to use this place whenever she wanted to run away from people. At first, she thought it was okay for people to feel bad for her since her father and the Gama of the pack died, but when she heard some girls badmouthing her behind her back that she was mourning to gain attention, Athena knew they were just cunning foxes who befriend her because of Cole's support. Taking a deep breath, Athena turned around the corner, her nose scrunching as she neared the farmhouse. Was someone inside the farmhouse? It was obvious Cole's scent would be there since it was his, but why did it smell like Bianca? "Aahhh, please. Faster. Yes, that's the spot. Come on. Give me all of you, alpha. Ohh, you are the strongest man," Bianca's shameful words rang in Athena's ears, and Athena paused in her steps, contemplating if she should go inside. Turning around, she was about to leave when she heard a voice she had never thought she would hear in her wildest dreams. "Take this, cow. Take it all inside. Let me fill you up. This is what naughty cows like you deserve," Cole's words were like a smack to Athena's face, and she felt her body numbing with each step she took towards the house, every word they spoke, and the smell of the desire, sweat, and their colorful events. "Give it to me all, Alpha. Fill me up. I am ready for all the punishment. I'm yours," Bianca's words continued before Athena heard Bianca's scream, and the smell of her juices wafted through her nostrils, making her dizzy as she felt the ground below her slipping away. She fell to her knees as their merciless act continued. She had tried calling Bianca. Bianca had been awfully good to her in her mourning time, thus she wanted to see if Bianca wanted to hang out, but the call didn't go through, and now Athena knew the reason. On the couch where Cole used to speak of his unending love for her, Bianca and Cole were there in fiery passion. Cole was in and out of Bianca while her nails dug into his back, her face scrunched in pure bliss under him. Athena knew she needed to run away, but her body had frozen. It was like her body was forcing her to look at the scene in front of her. If Bianca's and Cole's words earlier were a slap to her face, this felt like someone took her heart out of her chest and stabbed her with a knife continuously. A wolf's sense of noise and smell is one of the strongest, but they were so lost in their passion that they didn't even notice a new person standing at the door. Heck, they didn't even care to lock the door in the first place. They were so consumed by their desire and passion, that it looked like nothing mattered to them at the moment. Jake, who had been following Athena to irritate and make fun of her and make sure she isn't bawling her eyes out again, looked at her sitting on the ground in a daze and was about to smack the back of her head to have a good laugh when the scene in front of her came into his view. His original plan only included irritating her a little, but seeing the hot tears flowing down her cheeks, he felt a swirl of emotions that were a mixture of anger, sadness, pity, sympathy, frustration, and anguish took over him. Jake liked bullying her. It was his favorite pastime, but right now, he felt like hugging and consoling her. The only reason he used to bully her all this time was that she saw no one else than Cole all her life, and it was nerve-wracking for him. Shaking his head to get the thoughts out of his head and control his anger, Jake took a deep breath. Holding her hand in a tight grip, Jake pulled her out of the area with a scowl on his face. If it would've been any other time, Athena would've snapped at him for even touching her, let alone holding her hand like this, but right now, she didn't even bother to look at who was pulling her. The image of Cole banging Bianca on that couch was spinning in her head like a never-ending movie roll. Until now, her body and mind didn't even want to believe what she saw. Chapter-2 A chosen rejection "What the heck do you think you were doing sitting there like a fool? Do you have no self-esteem?" Jake growled, his growl attracting the attention of everyone in the pack as they stopped their work to look towards the forest. Jake was the beta's son and was about to take the position of the beta after his father. Not to mention how his mother was an alpha. Thus, the power in his voice was no joke. "Have you gone deaf? Answer me! What were you waiting for? For Cole to finish up so he could give you an explanation of what was going on? Do you think it was the situation that has some explanation in the first place?" Jake seethed with anger, and Athena looked at him with torn eyes. "There has to be. Cole can't do something like that to me. He didn't say he found his mate, either. Why would he think of hiding something like this from me? I always supported him with every decision. Maybe Bianca made the move on him." Athenaโ€™s mind was going in denial, and Jake could sense it. "Athena Matthew! Come to your senses, will you? Do you think what you saw in that house was some script? Cole, your best friend, was -" Jake stopped mid-sentence when he saw her glassy eyes. It was clear. No matter what Athena told herself to cooperate with the truth, her mind and heart already knew what had happened. Her trembling form was proof of it. "Tell your wolf to take over and help you, Athena. Please, I know I haven't been the best support for you, but listen to me just this once. This is the only way you can get over your emotions right now, or I am afraid -" Jake didn't complete his words. He held her arms tightly, gritting his teeth when her body didn't stop shaking. "It hurts so much," For the first time, Athena whimpered since her fatherโ€™s death, and Jake hugged her from behind. "It will be over. Shhh... Let go of it. Nothing severe happened. It was good he wasn't your mate, and you didn't consummate your love and affection by marking each other, no?" Jake tried to pacify Athena. Honestly, this was the first time she was letting him hug her like this after their childhood, and if it had been any other opportunity, he would've rejoiced for getting his friend back, but not today. "What happened, Jake? Are you bullying her again?โ€ Cole's mother, the ex-luna of the pack looked at Athena with sympathy as she came up. "Why can't you leave her alone? She has already suffered so much." At her words, Jake scoffed. "Are you sure I am the one bullying her? Why don't you ask that of your son, who is banging her friend?" Jake growled, and though he knew he was disrespecting the ex-luna, he cared little. As if having sensed the commotion, Cole came out after a while, walking towards the center of the pack. "What's going on here?" Cole asked, his gaze shifting and darkening when he saw Jake hugging Athena while she looked weak and sad. "Son, what is happening? Why is Jake saying you hurt Athena?" Cole's mother asked, and Cole paused. There is no way she saw everything just now, did she? But if that was the case, why did they not hear anything? Was he so lost in his moment of pleasure? "I am sure she is sad because she visited her father's grave. Leave her alone, Jake," Cole said coldly, but Jake didn't back down. "You are trying to say you weren't in that farmhouse banging Bianca a few moments ago? Because that's exactly what she saw," Jake said, and Cole's eyes widened ever so slightly. "Is Bianca your mate, Cole?" Athena whispered, finally finding the courage to address the elephant in the room. If Bianca was his mate, she was ready to forgive him. She knows a mate bond is sacred and can't be fought, but she won't forgive him for keeping things from her and making her look like a fool in front of everyone. "She isn't," Cole sighed before he looked at everyone, clenching his jaws. โ€œIf she isnโ€™t your mate, then -โ€ Athena didnโ€™t complete her sentence, her heart aching again. There was no pressure of mate bond. It was all his doing. It hurt even more. "I indeed found my mate on my birthday," Cole said, "You are my mate." Cole confessed after a dragging silence, and it felt like another bucket of ice was poured over her head. It didn't make sense to her. She was Coleโ€™s mate? Then what the hell was he doing banging some other girl? What was going on inside his head? Why didnโ€™t he tell her? Cole's words not only shocked Jake and Athena but everyone in the pack. "What did you say?" Jake was the one to ask. "She is my mate, but I don't - it's complicated, okay?" Cole tried to reason as he walked towards her. Raising his hand, he was about to cup her cheeks to pacify her when Athena gave him a tight slap, making his head whip to the side as he stood there in shock while everyone gasped. Her wolf was howling in pain inside her. She was howling so loud that Athena was scared if she continued this, she might lose her voice. 'It is painful. How could he do this to us? Why did his wolf allow it in the first place? It was our place. We were supposed to be there with him. How could he -' Celine wailed and howled, and Athena's heart broke even more. "I was sad and angry because I thought my best friend betrayed me and didn't tell me something so important. I thought the person I loved my whole life couldn't find it in him to tell me the truth about his feelings, but you were my mate? All this love I felt for you, this unending attraction, was because you were my mate, and you knew all about it but chose to stay quiet. How dare you, Cole?!" Athena growled, and Cole massaged his jaws before sighing. "We will talk about this at home, okay? Let's not create a useless ruckus here. Let go of her, Jake," Cole said the last sentence authoritatively. "Why at home? I want everyone to know the truth. Why were you banging with her? If it was just about this physical part, you knew I was just waiting for us to recognize each other as mates, and nothing would've stopped us from mating, so what -" Athena paused before looking at Cole in disbelief. If it had been anyone else, it would've become hard to believe. But Athena knew Cole all too well. Bianca moved into the pack five months ago. Who was Bianca? She was the other pack's alpha's illegitimate daughter. She had alpha blood running in her veins. And despite her legitimacy, she would still be called an Alpha's daughter. When it comes to comparing the two of them, Athena was no match for her. Is this why Cole chose her? "It's because of power," Athena answered her own question, and Cole stopped pretending like the good guy. "You are right. It's because of power. I want her to be my Luna, and she is equally interested. So I don't see why I should be paired with a Gama, who does nothing but cry on her sadness," Cole scoffed before turning around. "When Jake bullies you, someone said something to you, you remember your father, or you broke something, all you do is cry, and it gets on my nerves. I can't have a weakling like you as my Luna. But I respected our friendship, and that's why I didn't tell you all this keeping your situation in mind," Cole said, and even though Jake didn't particularly like this guy because of his behavior, he couldn't believe his Alpha was saying something like this. "When the moon goddess pairs two people, she doesn't do it so that they could become the most powerful couple of all time. She does that because those two people are supposed to complete each other," Jake reasoned, and Cole chuckled. "Well, I am sorry, but I can't take such a wuss as my mate. I am not banishing her from the pack, and she can live here for free, even enjoy my affection from time to time, but that's the most I can do for her," Cole's attitude was dripping from his words. It was clear to everyone. He was pitying Athena. "I have already chosen my Luna. It's Bianca Howl," Cole smiled at Bianca, who came over to him and kissed him in front of everyone, and if that was the last string of thread that needed to break, it did. Wiping her eyes and cheeks furiously to stop the tears that were becoming the reason for her miseries, Athena looked at Cole before taking a deep breath. "You made your decision about choosing your Luna. I will decide whether to stay and see this dirt. You not only shamed the scared mate bond, our pure friendship, my love towards you, but also the moon goddess," Athena's eyes turned a shade darker, and her tears started looking like they were tears of blood dripping down her cheeks. "You want to leave the pack? You don't like my pity and sympathy? It's okay. You can leave whenever you want. This pack doesn't need ungrateful cowards like you anyway," Cole smirked. "I, Cole Trickster, reject Athena Matthews as my duly mate, the future Luna of the pack, and strip her of all the Luna responsibilities. I, Cole Trickster, also reject Athena as a member of the White moon pack, hereby declaring her as a rogue," Cole looked at Athena bloodshot, and she, who never expected him to do something like this fell to her knees before an ear-piercing scream left her mouth. "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" she screamed, throwing her head back when her body felt like it was lit on fire. Jake looked at the scene in front of him in horror as Athena curled in a cocoon shape while ear-piercing screams left her mouth, making his heart tremble for her. It was as if rejecting the mate bond wasn't enough, he had to strip her of the pack bond too. Jake knew Cole was an ungrateful brat, but he had never imagined that he would be this bad. He took away her only link to her parents. Now that she is a rogue, she won't be allowed in the pack. Athena's tears flew out of her eyes uncontrollably. Everyone who saw her felt bad for her at the moment. Though they understood their Alpha's decision and were okay with it, maybe he was a bit too much in taking away her home too. The ex-luna of the pack stood there in shock as she never thought her son would do something like this to someone. It was as if he was a whole new person right now. "Cole -" She started, but Cole glared at her, and she bowed her head, not saying anything. The pain would continue to last for around 24 hours till the bond breaks slowly, and she becomes a rogue. And with that pain, she will have to pack whatever belongings she wants before leaving the pack. "Athena, stand up. These people don't deserve to see you like this," Jake helped her up before he supported her and started walking her back to her house. Cole, who saw this scene, gritted his teeth in annoyance. He had known all about Jake's care and affection for Athena all this while she used to get bullied. As a man, he could read what was going on in another man's heart, and he knew Jake bullied her because he wanted her attention on himself. And seeing how Jake was jumping on the opportunity, Cole clenched his fist. "Leave her alone, Jake. She is a rogue now. I am sure you wouldn't want to lose your place in the pack for helping a rogue, would you?" Cole scoffed, and he thought Jake would leave Athena's hands, but to his shock, he tightened his grip on her hands even more. "That won't be a problem. I don't want to live in a pack run by a power-hungry, backstabbing brat either. I am sure our previous Alpha Samuel would be ashamed of his son right now, just like your mother, who can't even look at you," Jake scoffed before looking at everyone, shaking his head at the people who were just standing and enjoying the show. "What did you threaten me with? Leave the pack, right? I, Jake Hunter, reject the pack bond of White moon pack, and hereby declare myself as a rogue," Jake said, and Athena, who was barely controlling her pain, widened her eyes as she turned to look at the guy. Yes 2024-10-15 09:54 active 1634 0 ๐Ÿ”ž๐Ÿ†Click To Read On I had been awake since before the sun rose. Sleep was never something that came easy to me. I often found myself staying up later than everyone else or waking up earlier just to have a few moments of peace. To have quiet time where I could pretend like my life was normal. Or I could pretend that I wasnโ€™t always so sad and hurting all of the time. I sat on my window sill and watched as the world outside came to life. It was beautiful. The birds and animals outside looked free and happy. Even the flowers bloomed with bright colors and looked careless as they blew in the breeze. I envied them greatly. More than anything I longed to be free. To have any moment feeling so careless and happy. I finally got off the ledge when the alarm on my phone rang softly on my nightstand. I grabbed a rubber band from my dresser and threw my long hair up in a tight ponytail. I grabbed my sweater and backpack before heading out. I was going to be late if I didnโ€™t get out to the kitchen soon. There would be hell to pay for that. The regular interactions I encountered with the Luna and my four adoptive brothers were torture enough. I didnโ€™t need to go making things worse for myself. I was not a glutton for punishment. As I moved through the halls, I couldnโ€™t believe it had almost been five years since I had been brought here. I was, of course, extremely grateful to my adoptive father, Alpha Angus, but in a lot of ways it was almost easier growing up on the streets and shifting between foster homes. I was brought to this castle in hopes that I would join the family and be accepted here but my adoptive mother and brothers made it clear that was never going to happen. I always had bullies and tough people on the streets and in foster homes. At least there I felt more equipped to defend myself. Hereโ€ฆ well, how could I fight back against the Luna of a pack? Much less her four sons. Jane and Myraโ€”the hired cooking staffโ€”were already working in the kitchen, getting things ready and prepared. It already smelt delicious. I could see the crockpot was already started for dinner. My stomach growled. โ€œGood morning, ladies. How are we doing today?โ€ I asked, grabbing my apron and tying it on. My voice was flat and low. I had no need to pretend with them. They both understood how difficult things could be in this house. Both of them exchanged a strange look before smiling awkwardly back at me. I felt a knot build up in my stomach. โ€œWhat is it?โ€ โ€œThe boys have requested breakfast burritos againโ€ฆโ€ Jane answered. I sighed and rolled my eyes. Creating meals for my adoptive brothers had always been the worst. They delighted in making extremely complicated orders and insisted I remake things when they werenโ€™t quite โ€˜perfectโ€™ enough. Often I would make something and they would try to gaslight me by insisting that was not what they had ordered. Who was I to question them? Insulting my cooking was a regular and they would all question how such a โ€˜fatโ€™ person could be so bad at making food. If I paid any attention to their bullying I would have several complexes about myself. โ€œLet me hear it,โ€ I said with a dramatic sigh. I leaned against the counter and closed my eyes to listen. This was always the worst part. I knew Myra and Jane felt sympathetic but it didnโ€™t help. Myra gave me an apologetic glance and began to read off the orders from the kitchen iPad. She rambled through the ridiculous concoctions the boys came up with and I let out a scoff with a dramatic eye roll more than once. I should be used to this by now but every day they still manage to get on every nerve that I had. โ€œWell, they are creative, Iโ€™ll give them that,โ€ I sneered. Both my friends chuckled as we started. โ€œAnd hot. They might be the hottest guys Iโ€™ve ever hated,โ€ Jane teased. We all laughed again. Jane was correct in saying that they were attractive. All of them were stunning and couldโ€™ve been models. Which almost made it that much worse. I would be lying if I said I hadnโ€™t thought about each of them at some point or another. But their awful treatment toward me erased the stars as soon as they came into my mind. We cooked and prepared until things were ready. Jane and I headed out to the living room where the boys were waiting. Zek, the eldest and most intellectual, was sitting in his usual spot reading some obnoxiously complicated textbook. Dylan was sprawled out on the loveseat reviewing texts and matches from random bimbos on the Internet. I choke back vomit. Lionel and Ger were arguing and cussing at each other while playing a violent and childish video game. I expected nothing less. These four boys had a knack for acting like they ruled the world. And in some ways they did. They were spoiled and arrogant. They were never given any ounce of responsibility, and yet someday they would be responsible for the entire pack. The thought was unsettling, to say the least. We wordlessly placed their burritos down. I hoped to leave before any of them had a chance to comment. I had almost made it out of the room when Ger called back after me. His voice startled me and for a moment stopped me in my tracks. โ€œGoodness, Rhea, how many of the ingredients did you sample before filling these burritos? Or are you just stuffing shit straight into your pants now? Look at the ass jiggle!โ€ he called out with a giggle. His brothers laughed as well, calling me โ€œfat assโ€ and โ€œbubbler buttโ€. I rolled my eyes and headed to the kitchen. I did not have a lot of experience hanging out with other girls or knowing what was considered โ€˜attractiveโ€™. I knew well enough to know that I couldnโ€™t trust the boys were always telling me the truth. They delighted in making me feel terrible. But still, their comments often stuck with me and I hated that. There was always a little voice in the back of my mind wondering if I truly was fat and ugly. I thought thatโ€™d be the end of it. I only had about 15 minutes before it was time for school. I tried to forget about what the boys had said, I tried to think about school or anything else. I sat at the little kitchen table and started eating my own food. But I was quickly interrupted as all four boys piled into the room. My breath caught in my throat. โ€œHiding in the kitchen, I see?โ€ Ger commented. โ€œIโ€™m just eating breakfast. I've moved away from youโ€ฆ What else do you want?โ€ I asked, trying not to sound as timid as I felt. โ€œWe just want to make sure you remember your place, chunky girl. Our father brought you here but youโ€™re not special. Youโ€™re not a part of the family,โ€ Lionel snarled. These were regular comments that I had heard continually since coming here. I stared at them blankly. Apparently, they wanted to make certain that all of their words and their insults sunk in. There was no room for confidence here. โ€œYeah, thatโ€™s why Iโ€™m eating in the kitchenโ€ฆโ€ I answered dryly. Lionel narrowed his eyes on me. โ€œAre you sassing me?โ€ I swallowed hard. โ€œAre you sure you really need such a big breakfast? I mean, look at you. If you keep eating no one will want you,โ€ Dylan chimed in with a wicked smirk. โ€œDoes it really matter? Clearly, already no one wants her. Her own parents didnโ€™t even want her,โ€ Ger joked. They all laughed. I frowned and tried not to let them see how hurt I really was. Dylan grabbed my plate and threw it toward the sink. It shattered and bits of porcelain flew around the room. I sighed knowing Myra or Jane would have to clean that up when we all left. I would have to apologize to them later. Having me here seemed to be a big inconvenience for everyone. I wondered if Alpha Angus recognized that. I doubted it. The boys continued to laugh and make other jokes. I continued to pretend like it didnโ€™t affect me. It was continually hard whenever they brought up my parents. I still had no idea who my parents were or why they had abandoned me. I was certain that Alpha Angus knew more than he was saying about where I came from. But I also knew he wasnโ€™t about to share any of that with me. The more he kept secrets the more I felt it must be something truly awful. Maybe they really didnโ€™t love me. โ€œBoys, come now weโ€™re going to be late!โ€ Luna Simona stood in the doorway to the kitchen. โ€œGoodness, look at this mess! Rhea, you are just impossible. Are you so incompetent that you canโ€™t create a few simple breakfasts without making such a mess? You are so lucky that my husband took pity on you, though I still canโ€™t imagine why. You are not even fit to be a servant in this house.โ€ Her words were dripping with disdain. She looked at me as she always didโ€”like a black stain on her otherwise perfect life. โ€œIโ€™m sorry, maโ€™am,โ€ I replied begrudgingly. She rolled her eyes and sighed. I felt frustrated and awful. My stomach hurt and growled. โ€œNever mind that now, you can clean it after school. Though why we bother to educate you at all Iโ€™ll never know. Itโ€™s clearly not having an effect on you since you canโ€™t even manage to clean the house or do your chores without making things worse or breaking things. The bus is coming, so hurry along, girl. Boys, Professor Stalling is waiting to give you your daily lessons.โ€ I untied my apron and headed out the door. My stomach grumbled as I moved on the way. I hoped Iโ€™d be able to get something from a vending machine before my first class. As I passed my adoptive mother she sighed, sounding exasperated. I tried not to let it affect me and I continued walking. I wanted to be tough. I wanted to be confident and not let their torments affect me. But the truth was I felt small all the time. I felt worthless and ugly. The more I thought about my parents and my childhoodโ€”bouncing around from place to placeโ€”the more I thought maybe the boys were right. Maybe I was unlovable and no one would ever want me. I tightened my jaw to keep myself from crying and headed out the door to wait for the bus. The brisk air was making it harder to keep my tears restrained. I didnโ€™t want to start crying before I went to school. I didnโ€™t need other students to see what a hot mess I was. I didnโ€™t need to be tortured and tormented in school any more than I already would be. As I stood on the corner and waited for the bus, I promised myself that I would get out of this place. I daydreamed about a beyond the Horace family, and a future free from the torture that I endured every day. I imagined finding a mate who really loved me and took care of me. Someone who would defend me against anyone who would try to bully me again. Those thoughts almost made me feel more sad. I felt certain that I would never find such a magical person. I would never find a mate. But I would, I swore to myself, find a way to escape this torturous existence. Chapter 2 The Alpha Female I climbed onto the bus and kept my head down. Everyone stared at me, putting their backpacks on empty seats as I passed. I found an empty seat in the back and took it quickly. I looked out the window and avoided the looks and whispers from the other students. Everyone knew who I was and everyone knew how I was treated. It had been worse when the Horace brothers were still in school. It almost gave the other students license to mock me and tease me just as ruthlessly. Now they mostly just talked about me behind my back, which was easier to ignore. Everyone except Anastasia, who seemed to think it was her mission to make sure I continued to suffer just as much as I would have if the boys were still in school. Part of me wondered if she blamed me for the twins breaking up with her. It was possible. Though she should have known better than to think that Dylan, at least, would have settled down with her. โ€œHello,โ€ came a new voice I hadnโ€™t heard before, โ€œis this seat taken?โ€ I looked up to see a pretty girl with golden hair smiling down at me. I raised a curious eyebrow. I hadnโ€™t seen her before but if she went to our school there was no way she didnโ€™t know who I was. โ€œUm, sure?โ€ I answered, feeling confused. Her smile grew wider as she sat down. โ€œIโ€™m Emma,โ€ she started. โ€œIโ€™m new. I just transferred here. Whatโ€™s your name?โ€ โ€œRhea. I feel like I should warn you. You wonโ€™t make many other friends sitting next to me. They might bully you right alongside me. I wonโ€™t be offended if you want to consider changing seats,โ€ I admitted. Her expression softened and she looked at me like she thought I was exaggerating or lying. โ€œThatโ€™s all right, Iโ€™m sure itโ€™s not as bad as all thatโ€”โ€ Before she could say anything else, she was interrupted by a shrill laugh. I rolled my eyes and looked forward to see her standing there in all her glory. Anastasia Duchannes. โ€œWhat in the world is this?โ€ she asked loud enough that the entire bus could hear. She made her way back toward us, keeping her sharp green eyes locked on me. โ€œYou actually found someone to talk to you?โ€ Now she turned her eyes on Emma. โ€œYou must be new. Let me help you out, sugar. You donโ€™t want to go making friends with the wrong sort of people. That one there, sheโ€™s the wrong sort of people. Since youโ€™re new, Iโ€™ll let this slide. Feel free to choose another seat.โ€ Emma looked at me and seemed a bit shocked. I shrugged sympathetically. I had tried to warn her. โ€œI told you I wonโ€™t be offended,โ€ I replied to Emmaโ€™s unspoken question. โ€œWhat could you have possibly done to warrant such treatment?โ€ Emma whispered. Anastasia laughed again. โ€œAre you serious? Look at her. This right here is the filth of the filth. She comes from the lowest rung on the totem pole. She isnโ€™t worth anything,โ€ she answered. Emmaโ€™s expression hardened. โ€œEveryone is worth something,โ€ she replied. Anastasia looked taken aback for a moment. I felt stunned. I had never seen anyone stand up to Anastasia like that, especially not on my behalf. โ€œI think Iโ€™m fine where I am, thank you.โ€ โ€œWell, Rhea, it looks like you found another bottom dweller. I hope you two fat asses are comfortable sharing such a small seat.โ€ Anatasiaโ€™s eyes lingered on Emma and I knew she had plans to make her regret her choice. โ€œThank you but I donโ€™t think you should have done that,โ€ I whispered. Emma smiled at me. โ€œI donโ€™t like bullies. Itโ€™s not okay how they treat you,โ€ she answered. I half smiled. โ€œExcept now you just earned yourself the same treatment. Trust me when I say Anastasia isnโ€™t the kind of girl you want to piss off.โ€ โ€œTell me about her.โ€ I proceeded to explain that Anastasia came from a prominent wolf pack. Her father was an Alpha and a cruel one at that. It had left Anastasia cold and evil. I explained about the Horace family and how she had dated the twins. How she still came around and hooked up with all of them. I mentioned how Anastasia had chanced away any other girl who showed even the slightest interest in any of the brothers. I told her how the boys treated me and that Anastasia took up their mantle. โ€œI think she hates me the most because she canโ€™t get rid of me. She had nothing to be jealous of. None of the Horace brothers would ever dream of being with someone like me but still, I think she views me as some kind of threat. Anyway, thereโ€™s no limit to the kinds of awful things she will do. Sheโ€™s turned torture and bullying into an art form,โ€ I answered dryly. Emma took a deep breath and looked forward. โ€œWell, thatโ€™s a lot. Iโ€™m so sorry youโ€™ve been through all that. Thatโ€™s not okay,โ€ she whispered. I shrugged and tried to brush it off. โ€œIt is what it is. Soon Iโ€™ll be 18 and get far away from this place,โ€ I said with a longing sigh. โ€œWhere will you go?โ€ she asked. I smiled at her and we started talking about our dreams and the future. It was one of the best conversations I have had in a long time. I realized how long it had been since I had had a real conversation with someone other than Myra and Jane. Not that they werenโ€™t great friends but they were much older than me and in a lower station. They couldnโ€™t fully understand everything I went through. Emma on the other hand was also 17 and seemed to really understand what it was like to be bullied and treated so poorly. When we arrived at school I said goodbye as I headed to my first class. โ€œWait!โ€ Emma called after me. โ€œDo you want to have lunch together? Whatโ€™s your number? Iโ€™ll text you when I get out of class.โ€ I smiled and walked back, giving her my phone number. I was excited that for the first time since coming to live with the Horace family, I wouldnโ€™t be eating lunch alone in the bathroom. I waved goodbye and headed to my first class. Classes were not as terrible as the in-between times. The teachers didnโ€™t seem to care so much that I was being teased and tormented but they cared when their lessons were interrupted. That was enough to put a stop to most studentโ€™s chances to harass me. I enjoyed first period the most. Math and numbers always seemed to come easiest to me. I was finding geometry even more fun than algebra. Normally, as the day moved on I found myself dreading lunch but knowing that I was going to hang out with Emma again made me feel differentโ€”better. I felt a sense of comradery that I had never felt before. It was nice to have someone to share all my hard times with. It was nice to be validated in my feelings about it all. Emma texted me about five after midday. She asked me to meet her by the bleachers in the open field. I quickly went through the lunch line and grabbed a bit more than usual. I still felt starving after missing breakfast. I tried to keep my head down and avoid any contact with other students. I didnโ€™t need any more comments on my diet or my looks. I took the long way around the quart yard to avoid Anastasia and her band of loyal followers. I somehow managed to make it all the way to the field without anything but a side comment in passing. โ€œHey, how were your first classes?โ€ I asked. Emma gave me a strange look. โ€œWell, you were right. It was a terrible choice to be friends with you. News travels very fast in this school,โ€ she exclaimed. I nodded. โ€œI warned you,โ€ I repeated. She nodded and popped a few grapes into her mouth. It was peaceful out in the field. There were a few odd couples in the area as well but almost no one else. I could still hear the other students laughing and talking near the quart yard and the cafeteria but we would go unnoticed for the most part sitting on the benches. I wondered momentarily why I had never thought to sit out here before. โ€œSo, tell me about your old school and why you moved here,โ€ I asked. Emma scoffed and began to tell me about life in her other city. It didnโ€™t seem that different from where we were except she was closer to the beach. She told me she had never been particularly popular and always tended to be an outcast. I laughed at her. โ€œWell then, maybe you did choose the right company,โ€ I teased. She smiled at me. We talked more about school and why her parents moved to a new city and a new pack. She seemed calm and content with almost everything, even the parts of her life that didnโ€™t seem particularly pleasant. โ€œHow do you manage to stay so positive?โ€ Emma didnโ€™t look at me but instead kept her eyes closed and aimed toward the sun. โ€œHonestly, I donโ€™t know. I wish I had a better answer for you but also I havenโ€™t had quite the life you had, Rhea. Things might be different if our situations were switched.โ€ The bell rang, urging us back to our classes. As we walked back to the main campus, Emma asked me to hang out again after school. I felt delighted. I was certain I would get some hell for not coming home straight away but it was worth it to feel like I had some semblance of a life. It was worth it to have a friend. The rest of the day carried on like normal. I did my best to stay focused despite some of the students passing me terrible notes and making whispered comments about me. I found it easier to put up with now. I met Emma by the bus station after school and walked with her to her house when it let us off. We spent a few hours talking, doing homework, and eating snacks that her mother had put out. I wondered if this was what life was like for all normal children. It was wonderful. I wanted to stay but knew I couldnโ€™t. When it was getting closer to dinner time I said goodbye and started to head home. I knew Myra and Jane would be missing me and I couldnโ€™t give Luna Simona or the boys any other reason to be cruel to me. I walked into the house and headed toward the living room and into the kitchen. I stopped when I saw Ger and Dylan very intimately on the couch with some girl I didnโ€™t recognize. She was going back and forth between making out with each of them while they let their hands run wild over her body. She let out soft coos of pleasure but stopped abruptly when she saw me standing there. As soon as she stopped, Ger and Dylan looked up as well and narrowed their eyes in anger when they saw me. โ€œGet out you nasty perv! What are you doing just standing there like some dumb idiot?โ€ Dylan screamed. I quickly forced my feet to move and headed into the kitchen. Both of them were still calling after me. I heard the girl exclaim that she had to leave. Oh, no. I knew I was really in for it now. โ€œWhat is it? Whatโ€™s happened?โ€ Simona asked, coming into the kitchen. She was followed quickly by Dylan and Ger. โ€œThis dumb girl was spying on us in the living room. We wereโ€ฆ entertaining and our guest left early. She wasnโ€™t comfortable with a nasty little spy,โ€ Ger explained. I swallowed hard. โ€œI think we should punish her,โ€ Dylan added. I could tell from my adoptive motherโ€™s expression that that was exactly what they were going to do. -------------------------------------------------- There are limited chapters to put here, click โ€œlearn moreโ€ to open App to continue reading (It will automatically jump to the book) LEARN_MORE https://website.literiess.com/share/middle/5hmskf2 Literie-Alpha King https://www.facebook.com/61555762332950/ 223 0 0 1969-12-31 18:00 0 0 0 0 0 0 Learn more 0 website.literiess.com VIDEO https://website.literiess.com/share/middle/5hmskf2a01fx0uh1ny4fuvll?campaign_id=%7B%7Bcampaign.id%7D%7D&adset_id=%7B%7Badset.id%7D%7D&ad_id=%7B%7Bad.id%7D%7D&campaign=%7B%7Bcampaign.name%7D%7D&adgroup=%7B%7Badset.name%7D%7D 1969-12-31 18:00 https://scontent-lga3-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/463252807_548458687542879_1009086962824468422_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_s60x60&_nc_cat=104&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=Zzdz4UxSEv4Q7kNvgGB5G-i&_nc_zt=14&_nc_ht=scontent-lga3-2.xx&_nc_gid=APUQwYv56KXnoZ5PIohJezD&oh=00_AYAKqEB1dQm5YHgnwvGpINt1YskXhc26PgZIOK8UT6rLUw&oe=671447D9 PERSON_PROFILE 0 0 0 Literie-Alpha King 0 0 1969-12-31 18:00 View Edit

Yes 2024-10-15 09:54 active 1634 0 Read more My husband is deeply in love with his first love. When I told him jokingly that I was pregnant, he told me seriously: "You can't have this baby." I loved him, but I didn't want to love him blindly, so I ran away. Nine months later, when I was giving birth to my baby in a small-town hospital, I got a call from a friend, "You know what? Your husband found out you were crazy." ============= Chapter 1 Ex-girlfriend Returns Raegan Hayes was a little absent-minded at the moment. All she could think of since this afternoon was the doctor's words. "Congratulations! You are going to be a mom." Suddenly, Mitchel Dixon pinched her arm. His low voice came the next second. "Come back to earth. What are you thinking about?" Mitchel was her husband. They had been married secretly for two years. He was her superior at work, the president of the Dixon Group. Everything had happened so fast. She was newly employed in the company when they unexpectedly got married. At that time, Mitchel's grandfather fell seriously ill. It was then he proposed a fake marriage just to fulfill his grandfather's dying wish. They signed a prenup, agreeing to hide their marriage from the public. Their union could be terminated at any time. It was an unconventional thing to do. However, Raegan only considered herself lucky at that time. Never in a million years did she think she would ever get married to the man she had a crush on for eight years. She delightfully agreed. After their marriage, Mitchel was very busy. He spent most of his time working. Raegan wished she could spend more time with him at home. However, she was rest assured because there hadn't been any rumors or scandals about him with women in the past two years. Except for his mild indifference, Mitchel was a perfect husband. Raegan had mixed feelings as she stared at the medical report. In the end, she decided to tell Mitchel this news. She also wanted to tell him that she hadn't learned about him for the first time two years ago and that she had been crushing on him for many years before then. Just then, Mitchelโ€™s phone rang. He went to the balcony and answered the phone. Raegan checked the time and found that it was already midnight. She felt a little uneasy. Who would call Mitchel at this hour? Mitchel spent a few minutes on the balcony. Thereafter, he returned and changed into formal attire. His handsome face which had a clear outline made him look dignified. He was something to see now. "Don't wait up for me. Good night," he said finally. What? He was on his way out? At this hour? Raegan's grip on the report tightened as she stared at him in disappointment. Unconsciously, she withdrew slightly. After thinking for a while, she blurted out, "It's already so late." Mitchel's fingers froze on his tie. With a faint smile, he pinched her earlobe and said, "Be good, okay? There's something I have to do. Don't wait up." With that, he headed for the door. "Mitchel." Raegan quickly ran and caught up with him. Mitchel turned around and looked at her seriously. "What's the matter?" There was a tinge of coldness to his voice. An icy cloud hung over them as they stared at each other. A little distressed, Raegan asked in a low voice, "I would like to visit my grandma tomorrow. Can you accompany me there?" Her grandmother always wanted to see her. As a result, Raegan wanted to take Mitchel there to assure her grandma they were happy. "Let's talk about it tomorrow, okay?" Without agreeing or declining, Mitchel left in a hurry. Several thoughts were threading Raegan's mind. She couldn't sleep a wink. After tossing and turning for a long time, she went to the kitchen and made herself a warm glass of milk. A few notifications from some online blogs came into her phone. However, she wasn't interested in them. She was about to swipe them away when one of them caught her attention. The familiar name made her click on it. The news read, "Famous designer, Lauren Murray was spotted at the airport with her mysterious boyfriend earlier today." Lauren was wearing a bucket hat. The man's figure was vague, but the outline of his body was enough to show that he was dashing. Raegan zoomed in on the picture. The next second, her heart dropped. Mitchel was the man in the picture! So, he canceled the afternoon meeting just to go pick up his ex-girlfriend from the airport? This realization settled like a boulder in Raegan's gut, rendering her flustered. Her hands trembled. Subconsciously, she dialed Mitchel's number. The dial tone brought her back to her senses. Just as she was about to hang up, the line connected, and a voice came from the other end. "Hello!" It was a particularly gentle woman's voice. Raegan froze for a second and then threw the phone away. She suddenly felt sick in her stomach. Covering her mouth, she ran into the bathroom and threw up in the toilet bowl. The next morning, Raegan went to work on time. Mitchel had tried to get her to stop working after they got married. Stubbornly, she insisted on making her own money. Mitchel didn't kick against her decision, but he asked her to work as his assistant, helping him with the daily chores. The head assistant, Matteo Jenkins was left to take care of the major affairs Mitchel had. Matteo was the only Dixon Group employee who knew about their marriage. Since inception, only male assistants were hired for the president's office. Reagan was the first and only female. Her employment broke the protocol. As a result, other workers couldn't help but wonder if she was involved with Mitchel. It took a while before they realized that Mitchel never gave Raegan special treatment. Strangely, this made them despise her even more. After all, no one would last long in anything while taking advantage of their looks. At this time, one of Raegan's colleagues handed her a document and ordered her to take it to Mitchel's office. Mitchel didn't return home last night. Raegan was so worried that she didn't sleep at all. All she kept thinking about was the woman who answered his phone when she called. What was her relationship with Mitchel? Raegan already knew the answer to that, but she was still in denial. It was difficult for her to come to terms with that fact. Raegan tried to remain calm now. She reasoned that no matter what happened, she deserved a result that would be rewarding for all the years she spent loving Mitchel. This couldn't be all for nothing, right? She pressed the elevator button calmly and went up to the president's office. Before she walked out of the elevator, she smoothed her hair to make sure she looked good. She had arrived at the office, only to see that the door was ajar. A man's voice came. She halted instantly. "Come on, man! Do you have any feelings for Raegan or not?" The voice belonged to Luis Stevens, a childhood friend of Mitchel's. "What do you mean exactly?" Mitchel asked in a cold voice. "You know exactly what I mean!" Luis clicked his tongue impatiently and added, "I think Raegan is a good girl. Isn't she your type?" "Do you want me to hand her over to you?" Mitchel asked carelessly. "You know what, forget it!" The scornful laughter of Luis sounded particularly harsh in Raegan's ears. They were talking about her as if she were an object. Raegan took a deep breath and tightened her grip on the document. Soon, Luis's voice was heard again. "By the way, I saw the gossip news about Lauren's mysterious boyfriend this morning. That was you, right?" "Yes." "Well, well, well! That woman still has you wrapped around her little finger. You always want to please her." Luis sighed and continued to tease Mitchel. "As the old saying goes, absence makes the heart grow fonder. Tell me, did you two..." Their conversation was like a thunder exploding over Raegan's head. Her face turned pale and her body was as cold as ice. The woman was indeed Lauren! Absence made the heart grow fonder! Every word drove a knife into her heart. Several whispering voices filled her head at this time. She suddenly felt light-headed. Her vision became blurry. She held the wall and took a step backward. Suddenly, the door was opened from inside. "Raegan?" Chapter 2 One-sided Love Luis was the one who opened the door. It appeared he was on his way out. Raegan balled her hands, turned to him, and nodded. "Hey, Mr. Stevens!" Without waiting for him to respond to her greeting, she walked past him and entered the office with the document. Mitchel was seated behind a large luxurious desk. In an expensive suit and matching tie, he looked particularly handsome. Raegan noticed it wasn't the same suit he had on when he left home last night. How did he get changed? With her eyes lowered, she swallowed that question and said instead, "Mr. Dixon, this is from the Marketing Department. Please sign it." Mitchel was expressionless as he signed the document at a glance. Raegan walked out the door as soon as he handed the document back to her. Luis was still standing at the threshold. It wasn't until she went out of sight that Luis turned to Mitchel and said in a hushed tone, "Do you think she heard us?" Mitchel's appealing eyes were expressionless at the moment. Obviously, he wasn't paying attention to what Luis was saying. To Mitchel, Raegan had always been docile and never felt jealous of anyone. Her strict obedience was all Mitchel demanded from her in exchange for treating her well. In the elevator. Raegan held her breath just to hold back her tears. Unfortunately, it didn't work. She had thought two years would be enough for Mitchel to realize how much she loved him and reciprocate her love. Now, it turned out that was just a pipe dream. She realized she would always play second fiddle to Lauren, Mitchel's true love. Reagan wiped her tears when the elevator halted. Save for her pale face, she looked normal when the doors opened. She dragged herself to the break room, intending to make herself a cup of tea. Several employees were chatting inside. "Guys, have you heard? Lauren Murray is back." "And who is that?" "Oh, my! You don't know her? Lauren is the heiress of the Murray Group as well as a world-class designer. Most importantly, she's the only girlfriend Mr. Dixon has ever shown off in public. She's his first love!" "Why is her return such a big deal? Isn't it rumored that there is something between Mr. Dixon and Raegan?" "Raegan? She's nothing to Mr. Dixon. Mr. Dixon never admitted that he was dating her. And that is no surprise to me. After all, look at her. She's not even that beautiful. Yet, she behaves as if she's already Mrs. Dixon. What a fool!" Standing at the door, Raegan smiled with self-mockery as she listened to them. It turned out everyone else saw the truth except her. The love was one-sided. "Ha-ha, have you finally woken up from your wild dream, Raegan?" A voice of mockery suddenly came from behind. Raegan turned around to see Tessa Lloyd, Mitchel's cousin, who had always despised her. Tessa must have also heard the employees gossiping. The last thing Raegan wanted to do now was argue with Tessa in the company. She turned to leave, but Tessa blocked her way. With a cup of coffee in her hand, Tessa uttered sarcastically, "Lauren is back now. Do you think Mitchel will still give you any attention?" Raegan said nothing to that. Seconds later, Tessa continued the ridicule. "Maybe itโ€™s time for you to seek out another man, you pathetic fool." Raegan clenched her fists and said coldly, "Ms. Lloyd, if you are interested in that kind of thing, feel free to pursue it yourself." "You..." Raegan's retort made Tessa's face change. The next second, Tessa raised her hand and emptied the cup of coffee on Raegan. Raegan didn't think for a second that Tessa would do something so crazy. She held up her arms just to block the liquid from her face. In no time, the coffee drenched her clothes. Raegan frowned. "What did you do that for? Are you out of your mind?" It was lunch break and many employees were free to watch the drama. Tessa was even more complacent when she saw growing onlookers. She put on a mean-girl look as she said, "What makes you so smug every day, huh? Do you seriously think that others don't know you are just an orphan? The nerve of..." Tessa was silenced by Raeganโ€™s shove. Her jaw dropped to the floor. She had never expected that Raegan, who was so quiet and timid, would shove her. Tessa stuttered, "You... You pushed me? How dare you!" Raegan eyed her and replied, "Yes, I did! It seems you need to be taught simple politeness." Indeed, she lost her parents when she was a child. But that didn't mean she would allow someone to walk over her for it. Wrinkles appeared on Tessa's face as she frowned in anger. As Mitchel's cousin, she was used to being fawned over and respected. This was the first time she had been treated like this. Tessa charged at Raegan like a raging bull, poised to retaliate. This time, Raegan was fully prepared for what was coming. She grabbed Tessa's wrist so that the latter couldn't move another inch. Tessa was shorter than Raegan. As a result, she struggled like an octopus that had one of its tentacles stuck in a fishing trap. Tessa cursed angrily, "How dare you put your hands on me? Who do you think you are?" These harsh words attracted more people to the break room. "That's enough!" Out of the blue, a baritone came from behind. Mitchel had left his office and ran into this hullabaloo. The entire room fell silent. "Mitchel?" Tessa's blood ran cold at the sight of Mitchel. She had always been scared of him. Her mother also warned her against provoking him. But when she remembered that Raegan humiliated her, she put on a pitiful expression and sobbed. "Mitchel, she bullied me." The sunlight from outside fell on Mitchel's handsome face. Raegan felt so grieved all of a sudden, and lowered her head to look at her clothes which were soaked with coffee. Their gaze met in the air. With a deep frown, Mitchel looked at Raegan and said, "Raegan, have you forgotten the rules of the company?" His ruthlessness made Raegan's breathing cease. She couldn't believe her ears. No one dared to make a sound at this moment. Raegan just stood straight there with her slender figure. When she got employed here, Mitchel had told her that the Dixon Group wasn't a place for her to mess around and that he would not tolerate her making any mistakes. Raegan could understand why he took this stand. However, at this moment, she was desperate to know whether Mitchel had heard those hard words Tessa scolded her or he was just pretending not to have heard because he agreed to those words. Was she truly insignificant to him? Scared to death by Mitchel's rage, the crowd soon dispersed. A few employees were bold enough to peep from a distance, unwilling to miss the good show. Mitchel's cold eyes made Raegan shiver from head to toe. Raegan pinched her palm to suppress her emotions as she looked at Tessa. "I'm sorry, Ms. Lloyd. As an employee of the Dixon Group, it was wrong of me to have offended you." Eyeing Raegan, Tessa raised her chin complacently. "Humph! Don't think you'll be let off the hook just by making a simple apology. I don't buy..." "The offence has nothing to do with the company. Personally, I refuse to apologize to you. Now, if you'd excuse me," Raegan chimed in. She then walked past Mitchel without sparing him another look. "You..." Tessa's face turned blue after hearing what Raegan said. Never in her years of being alive had she been so humiliated. She was always the bully, not the victim! The humiliation was so much that scolding Raegan wouldn't appease her anger. Pointing in Raegan's direction, Tessa shouted, "Mitchel, did you hear what that woman just said? She humiliated me, yet she's still so arrogant. Call her back. I have to teach her some manners!" Mitchel, staring at Raegan's thin back, had an ambiguous expression at this moment. "Enough!" he said coldly, raising his hand. As someone who lived and breathed drama and cruelty, Tessa didn't think Mitchel was partial to Raegan just now. She assumed that Mitchel didn't care about Raegan at all. Tessa gritted her teeth and said viciously, "Next time, I'll get someone to teach her a lesson." "Tessa!" Mitchel's tone and squint made it a reproof. Tessa trembled at once. With a somber face, Mitchel said, "I'll only say it once. Forget about what happened here today. Leave Raegan alone." The aura he exuded made her tongue go dry. All the vicious ideas she had in store against Raegan disappeared in an instant. She stammered, "Ok... Okay, got it..." Mitchel cast a cold glance at her and spoke to Matteo. "Irrelevant people wouldn't be allowed in here from today onwards." Without catching the drift, Tessa flattered Mitchel. "Nice call. This is a top company. Not everyone gains access in here." Matteo nodded to Mitchel and then walked over to Tessa. He gestured to the exit. "Ms. Lloyd, this way, please." It wasn't until this moment that Tessa realized that she was the irrelevant person Mitchel just mentioned. She tried to speak to him, but Matteo blocked her way. The security guards then escorted her out. They showed her no mercy. Her struggle was useless. Meanwhile, Raegan got changed when she returned to her office. Her heart was filled with sadness as she thought of how Mitchel looked at her minutes ago. Closing hour soon rolled by. Raegan took her bag and headed for the exit. However, Matteo stopped her. He said, "Mr. Dixon has something urgent to deal with, so he asked me to drive you home." Raegan declined the ride without thinking twice. She was blind before, but now she could see through the situation. In Mitchel's eyes, she was just a nobody. How could Mitchel agree to accompany her to visit her grandmother when he didn't even care about her? Upon arriving at the hospital, Raegan saw that the nurse was about to feed her grandmother dinner. Raegan took the job over and did it by herself. All her life, her grandmother had been living in the countryside, enjoying a quiet life. Everything changed last month when her routine medical checkup showed that she was in need of medical care. Raegan insisted on bringing her to the city for better treatment. Her grandmother wasn't aware of her marriage to Mitchel. Raegan had planned to surprise her today. But as it turned out, that was no longer necessary. Raegan waited for her grandmother to fall asleep before she left. She walked out of the hospital and waited for a taxi. In the distance, a black luxury car pulled into the entrance of the hospital. Raegan's eyes lit up when she saw it. She recognized that car as Mitchel's. Did he come to pick her up? At this moment, she forgot all the pain she had been feeling. Were her thoughts about him all wrong? Did he care for her, contrary to the gossip? The door of the driver's side opened and Mitchel got out. Raegan started walking toward him with her heart brimming with joy. Suddenly, she stopped dead in her tracks. Mitchel had just walked over to the other side and carried a woman out of the car. Worry and compassion were written all over his handsome face. This wiped the smile on Raegan's face. Her heart sank. Chapter 3 Let's Divorce Mitchel's tall and straight figure got closer and closer to Raegan. And then, without saying a word, he strode past Raegan. It was hard to tell if Mitchel saw Raegan or just ignored her. Regardless, Raegan noticed that the woman in his arms was the same one who had been photographed with him yesterday. She was Lauren. Raegan's shoes felt like they were made of lead as she walked away. She lost all awareness of her surroundings. She got into a taxi absentmindedly. Suddenly, the driver uttered, "Ma'am, where to?" Raegan was stunned for a moment. She didn't want to go back to Serenity Villas. It was only a matter of time before that place stopped being her home. After a while, she replied, "Please take me to Crystal Bay." She had purchased an apartment at Crystal Bay after getting married to Mitchel. At the time, she had hopes of bringing her grandmother to the city, so she bought the apartment on mortgage. It wasn't that big, but it had more than enough space for two people. Mitchel didn't understand why she wanted to buy an apartment. He offered to give her a bigger one, but she declined. Looking back now, she realized that buying that apartment was the only wise decision she had ever made in the last two years. When she arrived at the apartment complex, Raegan sat in the park alone, trying to cool herself down. The memories of the past two years were bittersweet. Two years had passed in the blink of an eye even though it was more than seven hundred days and nights. Love could move mountains, they said. Yet, her love didn't move that stone of a man. She finally realized what a fool she had been. She had been making herself a laughingstock in front of everyone. It was already late in the night before Raegan finally decided to go into her apartment. As soon as she stepped out of the elevator, she saw Mitchel standing in front of the door. His sleeves were rolled up casually, and the top buttons of his shirt were undone, which revealed his long neck and part of his collarbone. He was leaning on the wall by the door, his handsome face straight. Raegan froze for a moment. Why was he here? Didn't she see him at the hospital with Lauren? What brought him here? Their eyes met. With his coat draped over his arm and one of his hands in his pocket, Mitchel squinted at her. "Why didn't you answer the phone?" he asked, sounding a little grumpy like someone who hadn't slept in a long time. Raegan took out her phone and saw she had accidentally put it on DND. There were five missed calls from Mitchel. This marked the first time in their two-year marriage. Mitchel blew up her phone because he couldn't find her? Surprising! Before today, she would have been overjoyed by this. People would've thought she won the lottery. But now, she just threw her phone back into her bag, folded her arms, and said in a hoarse voice, "I didn't hear it ring." Mitchel raised his hand to check the time on the watch, and said impatiently, "I've been looking for you for two hours." After arranging everything for Lauren, he returned home to find an empty house. He looked for Raegan everywhere. When he couldn't find her, he asked Matteo to check the surveillance footage of all the roads that led away from the company. He later found out that Raegan went to Crystal Bay without telling him. "Next time, tell me when you are coming here, okay? Let's go home now." After that, Mitchel walked toward the elevator without sparing her another glance. He meant to go back to Serenity Villas. Raegan didn't move an inch. She just stared at his broad back and pondered reluctantly. Would they have a future? Mitchell turned around, only to see that Raegan hadn't taken a single step. He frowned and asked, "Can't you walk? Do you want me to carry you instead?" The light in the corridor illuminated his face, making his side profile almost impeccable. Raegan took a deep breath and said, "Let's divorce." "What do you mean?" Mitchel's voice was cold, and his handsome face changed immediately. "I want to move into my own place. After all, we will be strangers soon." Raegan forced a smile, but her heart was aching as if someone was tearing it apart bit by bit. "We will be strangers?" Mitchel smiled coldly. "Raegan, what do you think our relationship is now?" His questioning left Raegan stunned for a moment. Mitchel had made it very clear to her from the very beginning. This facade of their marriage had happened by mutual agreement. There was no love. In the eyes of others, they were nothing more than just a superior and a subordinate. Mitchel was quite the catch in Ardlens. Many young ladies longed for his love and were even willing to throw themselves at him. His question just now reminded her of that fact. Was he afraid that she wouldn't let him go that easily? If that was the case, he couldn't be more wrong... After biting her lower lip to conceal her bitterness, Raegan said, "I'm sorry, Mr. Dixon. I was giving it too much thought. Anyway, please leave me alone from now on. You don't have to come here again." After saying that, Raegan couldn't help but burst into tears. How could she not be sad when she was cutting ties with the man she had loved for a decade? It was such a long time. Regardless of how difficult it was, she knew it was time to let go. It was high time she stopped being a fool. Strangely, the light in the corridor began flickering. The deathly stare Mitchel was giving Raegan right now made the atmosphere seem like the moment before an attack in a horror movie. Although he understood that Raegan sometimes could throw a tantrum, he felt that she had just crossed the line now. His eyes shone like blazing torches at this moment. But when he saw the tears in her eyes, the rage inside him extinguished in an instant. He said in a low voice, "If this is about what happened between you and Tessa, I..." "No, this isn't about her. Mr. Dixon, please leave now." A lot of things happened between them. And the incident with Tessa didn't come close to any. Raegan felt exhausted. She passed by Mitchel and was about to open the door. Yet, Mitchel was displeased with her stubbornness. He loosened his tie irritably. He then took a step forward and grabbed her wrist. "Stop this, will you?" A second later, he put his arm around her shoulder and pulled her into his arms. He instantly realized that she was burning up like someone who had been set on fire. "You have a fever?" Raegan felt dizzy. She rested her head on his chest weakly. This made the whole situation complicated. Reagan was slow to catch that. When she finally realized that her body was too close to his, she put her hands against his chest and tried to pull back. Before she could escape, Mitchel pulled her back and held her by the waist. With a cold face, he said in a low voice, "Where do you think you are going?" The light flickered again. Out of the blue, Mitchel lifted her up. He then headed for the elevator. In a daze, Raegan asked softly, "What are you doing?" "What does it look like I am doing?" Mitchel remarked. "Taking you to the hospital, of course." "No way!" Raegan cried out in surprise and seemed to regain more strength. Mitchel might find out about her condition if they went to the hospital. Raegan struggled to get out of Mitchel's arms. However, his tight grip made her efforts fruitless. "Don't be so stubborn. You are sick, so you must see the doctor," Mitchel said firmly. He walked to the elevator with her in his arms. At this moment, Raegan's heart was thumping so hard that it could jump out of her chest. She flailed in protest. "Put me down! I don't want to go to the hospital!" Yes 2024-10-15 09:54 active 1634 0 Read more My husband is deeply in love with his first love. I don't want to go to the hospital!" I almost lost my mobility and independence ๐Ÿ˜ฎ I was 59 at the time, and for the next 8 years, I tried everything to alleviate the excruciating back pain and disability (especially in my lower back), but nothing worked. I couldn't even keep up with my grandchildren; they were growing up, and I wasn't able to enjoy those moments.๐Ÿ˜ญ I consulted several specialists and spent thousands on different therapies and procedures, but to no avail... I was so sad and upset, but there was nothing I could do. Then one Friday night, scrolling through my Facebook feed, I came across a "special video". It was about a discovery that had been successfully used to treat tens of thousands of patients suffering from the most hopeless cases of back pain, knee pain, shoulder pain, and everything related... More importantly, these researchers found a simple 20-second method that can undo the damage and fix 90% of back pain and arthritis cases. It's up to seven times more effective than any addictive painkillers or dangerous back surgeries because it blocks the pain nerve fibers deep in your tissues and targets the real root cause of back and joint pain. I was skeptical, but I figured it didn't hurt to try; I was willing to do anything to make these unbearable pains stop... So, I started applying this method for 20 seconds every night... After a few days of using this method, I felt my spine begin to loosen, and the pain began to disappear... 2 weeks later, I was a completely different person... I looked like a new person, I was finally able to keep up with my grandchildren ๐Ÿ˜€ My mood improved, and since then, my husband hasn't left me alone... lol โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿ”ฅ and I finally regained my freedom! Yes 2024-10-15 09:54 active 1634 0 Using natural remedies instead of surgery to heal nerve pain. If you've been struggling with nerve pain, itโ€™s likely caused you a lot of discomfort and frustration. The cost of treatments can be overwhelming, and even simple activities like walking or sitting become unbearable. But what if there was a low-cost, quick, and effective solution? Would you try it? With this new therapy, you'll notice real improvement in just five days. The frequency of nerve pain will drop, and that sharp, stabbing sensation will begin to fade. After 15 days, the numbness, burning, and shooting pain will be a thing of the past. In just a few weeks, your symptoms will improve, and your quality of life will skyrocket. Best of all? No more expensive, slow-acting medications. I highly recommend anyone with nerve pain to give this a try! Yes 2024-10-15 09:54 active 1634 0 No more nerve pain in my feet... Nights were the worst, every toss and turn a reminder of my excruciating nerve pain. But then, this quick little trick gave me my first full night's sleep in years. Then I stumbled across a video that helped change my life, 5 seconds laterโ€ฆ Iโ€™m walking for miles a week, pain-free! After years of constant burning pains and pins and needles in my feet and my handsโ€ฆ My Doctor prescribed me pretty much every med out there and all they did was make me tired and drowsy! I was so fed upโ€ฆ Fed up of the tingling painโ€ฆ Fed up of the expensive medsโ€ฆ Fed up of constantly feeling down! And thatโ€™s when my husband stumbled across a video he saw in his feed which revealed the root cause of nerve painโ€ฆ And how the meds I was taking can actually make the burning and tingling worseโ€ฆ not to mention the terrible side effects?! I sat in shock as I watched the short video taking it all inโ€ฆ And then to my sheer delight, the video revealed a 5 second method which erased burning and tingling in just a few daysโ€ฆ without any need for meds! So, I wasted no time in trying this 5-second methodโ€ฆ Me and my husband went down to the local store and grabbed what we neededโ€ฆ Literally minutes after doing this method, I instantly noticed a differenceโ€ฆ it was so weirdโ€ฆ And for the first time in years, I managed to get a good nights sleep without waking up in pain! I carried on using the method for the next 7 days, and sure enough the burning and tingling reduced more and more until day 8 when I had no burning or tingling whatsoeverโ€ฆ The first full day of no pain in as long as I can remember! And now 3 months on, I havenโ€™t experienced any pains at all and I now tell everyone I know who suffers from the same about this 5-second methodโ€ฆ In fact Iโ€™ve linked to the very same video I watched a few months back belowโ€ฆ Tap now and prepare to be amazed!
