They arenโ€™t the result of age, either. The most common and frustrating joint problems are caused by senescent cell buildup. These are dormant cells that no longer serve a purpose. They should be dead. Yet they remain in the body. (This is why theyโ€™re also known as โ€œzombie cells.โ€) Senescent cells do more than waste space and gunk up joints. They can also release harmful chemicals and compounds that damage nearby healthy cells. The effects can build up over time and may include: ๐Ÿ›‘ Slower wound healing ๐Ÿ›‘ Less energy ๐Ÿ›‘ Longer recovery times after physical activity ๐Ÿ›‘ Stiff, slow, achy, weak, rundown, or otherwise uncomfortable joints But the proven ingredients in Remodel Clinicโ„ข by SaltWrap support senescent cell clearance and bolster the bodyโ€™s natural tissue remodeling process. This unlocks the potential to enhance joint mobility, comfort, and recovery โ€“ while also improving joint resilience and longevity. Yes 2024-10-15 09:54 active 1634 0 โค๏ธMy Accidental Husband Is My Revenge Partner Anastasia stared at her reflection in the vanity mirror in her room. She was all dressed up, ready to head to the city hall to retrieve her marriage certificate. She stepped out of the mansion's gate to hail a cab that would take her to the city hall. Despite being the first daughter of the Harrison family, she had never been given a car of her own. It was a daily frustration that she had to take a cab wherever she went, a reminder of how little regard her family had for her independence. All of a sudden, Anastasia saw a car make a stop right where she stood. "Hi, Ana. Are you also heading to the city hall? Want me to give you a ride?" Michelle, her younger sister asked her, sizing her up and down with a disgusted look as if she was a pest. Anastasia was aware Michelle wasn't in fact 'offering' her a ride. She was mocking her since she didn't have a car of her own. Their relationship had always been an unpleasant one. With Michelle being the favored daughter of the Harrison family, she always got what she wanted. Even when Anastasia wanted it too, she would be forced to give it up for Michelle. It was the duties of the eldest daughter, they said. "No, thanks," Anastasia responded. "Whatever," Michelle snorted before she zoomed off, leaving a cloud of dust behind that made Anastasia cough. In no time, Anastasia was able to find a cab. Reaching the city hall, Anastasia found Michelle standing in front of a staff; it was the same staff that called Anastasia to come retrieve her marriage certificate. It turned out they had registered to the same staff. Anastasia wanted to turn back and leave to avoid another encounter with Michelle. Unfortunately, luck wasn't on her side. The staff recognized Anastasia and quickly called her. "Mrs. Wallace, I have your marriage certificate with me. Please come and get it," said the staff. Instantly, Michelle turned back with a grin on her face when she saw Anastasia. "Ana, come and take your marriage certificate," she urged her. Anastasia read between the lines. She was mocking her for marrying the black sheep while she was married to the CEO of the Wallace enterprise. Anastasia revealed a small smile that didn't reach her eyes, took the marriage certificate from the staff, and turned, about to leave, but Michelle stopped her. "Come on, I want to see it. I want to see the useless man you will start calling your husband for the rest of your life," she urged, her eyes filled with mockery and her tone hushed, so that the staff wouldn't hear her. "We can see it later," Anastasia replied, about to walk out but grabbed her hand, stopping her. "Don't make me repeat myself," she threatened with a glare. In a blink of an eye, Michelle's expression was back to normal, as if she hadn't just threatened Ana. "Anastasia." Ana heard someone call her. She turned back to find Richard marching towards them. When they had come to register, he had made it clear to her that he wasn't coming along with her to get the certificates. 'What is he doing here?' She wondered. "Hi Michelle," he greeted her, while Michelle tried to hide the disgust in her face as she stared at him. She couldn't be any more glad that she was married to Xavier. Turning to Anastasia, he suggested, "Let's go home and celebrate by having a little fun tonight." He winked at Anastasia with a sly grin on his lips as he chewed a piece of gum. He placed his hand on her waist, making her flinch. Anastasia ignored him, pretending she didn't hear him speak. She gulped down her saliva, inhaled then exhaled, hoping it would calm her nerves. "I'm talking to you," Richard nearly yelled at her when she gave him nothing but silence. "You are hurting me," she managed to mumble, her eyes lowering, unable to make eye contact with him. His grip on her waist had tightened. "Oh, so you can hear me? I thought you went deaf for a second," said Richard, licking his lips lustfully as he sized her up. Tears pooled in Anastasia's eyes while her hands clenched on the envelope, the paper that clearly stated she was finally married to Richard, who was the black sheep of the Wallace family. While her younger sister, Michelle was to marry her first son, Xavier, whom she had only seen once when he and his grandma came to their mansion to finalize a few things with her family. She knew her whole world had shattered and there was no point in revival. She could have ran away, far away from these people, but she couldn't. Her father had already threatened her that if she did, he would demolish the NGO she owned. The NGO was a place filled with happy children, a place she worked hard to build with her savings. The center had been spearheaded by her cousin who lived in constant fear of Anastasia's father. So, for the children's happiness, she had to sacrifice her freedom. Michelle scoffed when she saw Anastasia tearing up. "Richard, I've been asking Ana to show me the certificate, but she doesn't want to show me. But now that you are here, don't you want to see how handsome you look in it?" She asked him with a bright smile. "I want to see how I look in the picture, not that I would be surprised by my looks since I've always been handsome. Show it to me, baby," Richard urged her. 'Fool,' Michelle thought to herself. Anastasia didn't want to delay and make things harder for her. Her hands trembled as she ripped open the envelope that contained the marriage certificate. She could feel the weight of their gazes on her as she spread it open, her breath catching in her throat. Her eyes fell on the photo attached and the certificate slipped from her grasp, fluttering on the floor. Her heart pounded wildly, her chest tight with a mix of disbelief and fear. 'That's not Richard, that's Xavier.' 2: Sheโ€™s the richest member of the Harrison Family Michelle frowned when she saw Anastasia drop the certificate. She picked it up, her eyes widening in disbelief when she saw the photo attached. She looked at Anastasia, shock mirrored in their expressions. "This is Xavier? How come you have Xavier's picture in your certificate?" Michelle questioned, glaring at Anastasia who was still frozen in shock as if she had a hand in it. Her voice attracted the attention of the people at the city hall. Michelle didn't waste any time and quickly tore open her certificate. "What theโ€”" she nearly cursed when she saw Richard's picture attached alongside hers on the certificate. "I'm married to Richard? What sort of a mistake is this?" She questioned no one in particular. Richard was also baffled by the mix-up, but he didn't see it as a big deal. As long as he was married to one of them, he was okay with it. Ruffling his hair, he said, "You two can go ahead and figure out how this happened. I have to meet up with my friends and have a drink." After that, he went his own way. Michelle couldn't help but glare at his back. Anastasia heard what Michelle said, and couldn't help but be even more shocked. The whole mix-up was completely unexpected. Anastasia was internally hoping for a miracle from the heavens, but she never expected their spouses to be exchanged. She found herself married to Xavier, while Michelle was now married to Richard. "What is this?!" Michelle's outburst brought her back from her thoughts as she compared the two certificates in her hands, as if her eyes were deceiving her. Michelle gritted her teeth in anger. She went to the staff and showed her the certificates. "What sort of joke is this? The man I came here with earlier was Xavier Wallace, and you got me married to Richard Wallace?!" She barked, veins popping on her neck out of frustration. At first, the staff was wondering what Michelle could be whispering to Anastasia. But seeing the mix-up, she felt a cold sweat run down her back. "You need to fix this!" Michelle ordered, her anger palpable. She had been daydreaming about how her wedding night with Xavier was going to feel like. But now that she wasn't married to Xavier as she'd expected, she felt a sudden urge to kill. The staff nodded vehemently, rushing from her seat to find out what could have caused the mix-up. Michelle turned to Anastasia. "I'm sure you are happy about this. You bribed the staff to swap the IDs, right? I know your ways, Anastasia. Mum and Dad are going to hear about this, and I will make sure they beat the truth out of you," she threatened, her teeth gnashing together while her fists clenched on the certificates. Michelle had never imagined getting married to Richard, Xavier's younger brother. He never took his life seriously and never set a goal for himself. The only reason he seemed important was because he came from the Wallace family. She didn't want to be married to such a person. She deemed it to be an abomination. "What are you saying, Michelle? How could I have bribed the staff? We came here at different hours to register, and there are many staff here as well," said Anastasia, hoping Michelle would believe her. The staff came back, sweat already glistening on her forehead. "I'm s-sorry, Mrs. Wallace. There w-was a fault with our system and it ended up swapping y-your IDs," the staff stuttered, afraid of her own life especially since Xavier Wallace was involved. She was internally hoping she wouldn't lose her job. "Shut up! This is a city hall for crying out loud and you are telling me there was a fault with your system? Don't tell me lies. She," Michelle pointed at Anastasia. "She bribed you, didn't she?" The staff glanced between Michelle and Anastasia, confused by Michelle's words. All she could do was shake her head. "No ma'amโ€”" The staff didn't get the chance to complete her sentence when Michelle stormed out of the city hall, dragging Anastasia along with her. "Get in the car," she ordered when they reached outside. "We are going home and you are going to explain to Mom and Dad how this mistake happened," Michelle added, getting into the car. Anastasia had no choice but to get into the car. Michelle drove the car, heading to the Harrison mansion while calling Ana names now and then. The latter kept quiet, awaiting her doom as soon as they got out of the car since Michelle had already texted their parents about the mix-up. "You'd better confess now, else Dad is only going to beat you up to a pulp," she threatened nonstop. They finally arrived at the mansion. Michelle stepped down from the car and dragged Anastasia inside. Reaching the living room, Michelle pulled Anastasia with so much force that the latter fell on the groundโ€”wincing in pain. "So, you were so greedy to have what your sister wanted that you went to the extent of bribing the staff members at the city hall to have your photo exchanged with Michelle's, huh?" Amelia questioned, the intensity of her glare scaring the skeletons out of Anastasia. "I'm talking to you, can't you speak?" She demanded. "What else can she say, mum? She has been caught red-handed so she has nothing to say," said Michelle. "You are going to get a divorce from Xavier," their father, Robert declared, his expression also holding the same amount of disdain as the other two as he glared down at her. Anastasia got up from the ground, and gulped down her saliva before she replied, "I don't want to divorce Xavier." She had no idea where that confidence came from, but she hoped it stayed longer. With gritted teeth, Robert threatened, "In that case, I will lock you up. No food and water until you agree to divorce him." Michelle grinned when she heard her father. Robert dragged Anastasia even though she tried to stop him by pleading, but he didn't halt for a second. When they got to her room, he threw her in and locked it. "Dad, please." Anastasia's voice could be heard from inside, but they all ignored her. All of a sudden, Robert got a phone call. He picked up the call without looking at the caller, anger still evident in his expression. "Who is it?" He demanded. When he got the news over the phone, his expression went from surprised to sudden rage which made him grip his phone tightly in his hand. "Who was that?" Amelia asked when she saw her husband's expression. "It was the lawyer. He said the doctor attending to his mother and father just contacted him, saying that both of them were dead. He also said that they had transferred all their properties to Anastasia," Robert forced the words out of his mouth. 3: You Killed My Baby "What?" Amelia asked, her voice barely a whisper. "How is that possible?" "I don't know, but one thing is for sure," said Robert. "You are going to have to transfer everything in my name," he declared loud enough for Anastasia to hear through the door. Anastasia couldn't believe her ears. She felt a deep sadness over her grandparents' deaths. Their bond had been so strong that when her grandmother fell ill, her grandfather's health had also declined from the loneliness he felt while she was in the hospital. Now, both of them were gone. Her grandparents were the only two people in the family who ever treated her kindly. Whenever they were around, even her parents, Michelle, and her brother Jack would treat her well. They all acted like a perfect family that loved her, never raising their voices at her as long as her grandparents were present. But since they got sick, her marriage was suddenly arranged with Richard until they were in their current situation. "I'm not transferring anything," Anastasia objected, her tone soft and timid. Amelia suddenly opened the door, startling Ana. "And what's that supposed to mean?" She questioned her. "It means I'm not transferring anything. Grandma and Grandpa transferred everything they owned in my name because they wanted to and I won't disrespect them by transferring it to your name," she declared, her eyes on her mother as she glared at her, gritting her teeth. "You unfilial child!" Robert barked, striking her across the cheek. "I am your father and you have no right to disobey me, do you hear me?" He spat all over her face, grabbing her chin with so much force that she thought he was going to punch her. Without waiting for her answer, Robert struck her across the cheek the second time. She fell on the floor as her blood painted her lips, her cheeks bleeding. Michelle smiled, hiding her conflicting emotions. She was overjoyed to see Anastasia being treated like a dog, but a flicker of annoyance lingered. It irked her how things seemed to be going so well for Anastasia that day. First, she had bribed the staff into swapping their IDs, ensuring she married Xavier, the man she was supposed to be with. And now, their grandparents had died, leaving everything they owned to Anastasia. Michelle was angry at how unfairly things had turned out in Anastasia's favor. Robert pulled Anastasia's hair and forced her to stand up. "Are you going to sign the property papers?" He questioned her again and she shook her head. "No," she mumbled. This was the first time after a long time since Ana had disobeyed him. He couldn't fathom why she was suddenly disobeying at a time like this. His parents have always been richer than him. It was their wealth that made their family part of the influential people in their city, Radiantia. He had always anticipated the day his parents would pass away, imagining the moment the lawyer would call his name, announcing that he had received the majority of their wealth. But the reality was far more cruel. He didn't receive even a percent of their estate; everything was left to his unfilial daughter, Anastasia. Without further warning, Robert dropped Ana to the ground. He pulled off his belt and whipped it across her body, eliciting a sharp yelp of pain from her. As if that wasn't enough, he started kicking her all over, intending to inflict unbearable pain on her so that she could choose to sign the papers. But Ana was extremely stubborn at that moment. Amelia, with her daughter, didn't want Robert to be the only one having the fun so they joined. They loved how they kicked Ana as if she was a soccer ball. "You think you are stubborn, aren't you? Let's see how much pain you can endure," Robert said. All of a sudden, they saw blood pool under Anastasia's dress. It was so shocking that they backed away a little. "Why is she suddenly bleeding?" Michelle asked no one in particular. She looked at Anastasia who had already passed out. "Call the guards, we need to take her to the hospital. She'd better not die yet when she hasn't signed the property papers." Robert's bodyguards immediately rushed in when they heard their names being called. "Take her to the booth of the car, I don't want her dirty blood staining my fancy car seat. We are taking her to the hospital," he ordered and they immediately did as they were instructed. โ€” When they arrived at the hospital, Anastasia was immediately rushed in for treatment. Robert followed closely, his face a mask of cold determination. He grabbed the doctor by the arm, his grip firm and unyielding. "Listen carefully," he said, his voice low and threatening. "I only need her fingers to be moving. That's all that matters." The doctor looked at him, conflicted but unable to defy the urgent demand. Reluctantly, he nodded, and Robert stepped back, watching as they wheeled Anastasia away, his mind already calculating his next move. "When is she going to be awake?" Robert asked as soon as the doctor came out of the hospital room. "She should be awake in about two hours," he replied. "But why does her body seem like she got beaten up? Did something happen to her?" He asked, wanting to know more about his patient. "She was robbed and that was how we found her, doc," Robert lied. He couldn't tell the doctor exactly what had happened. "I hope my sister will be alright," Michelle said, forcing a tear out of her eyes. Amelia hugged her as they sobbed together. "I see. Well, I'm sorry for the loss of your grandchild because unfortunately, the patient had a miscarriage." The doctor dropped the bomb which had the trio glance at each other in bewilderment. "I'm sorry but I don't think I heard that well," said Amelia. "Please can you repeat that?" she requested, waiting for the doctor. "The patient was pregnant and she had lost her baby, she had a miscarriage," the doctor repeated. 4: A Trade For My Peace Of Mind The doctor excused them to grieve the death of the unborn baby they didn't know existed. "Ana has the nerve to get pregnant and didn't tell us anything about it," said Michelle. "It serves her right to lose the child," she added, a small grin stretched on her lips. The other two thought the same as well. They didn't care about the death of any unborn child they had just killed. They only wanted her to transfer everything she owned in Robert's name so that he could share it equally, they thought. "I will have my assistant get the property papers ready with the divorce papers. She will have to transfer all that is in her name to mine and she will also have to divorce Xavier. So should you, Michelle," he said to Michelle. "Believe me when I say that I'm ready to sign the divorce papers right now. I can't stay married to that jobless bull, he won't even be able to take care of me," she replied. "That's good. And after thatโ€ฆ" Robert drawled, staring at the corners to be sure that no one was listening to them. When he was sure that they were alone, he continued, "We will have to get rid of Ana." Amelia and Michelle glanced at each other before Amelia said, "I was thinking the same thing. She is already starting to act stubbornly. I don't want her getting some crazy ideas so it's best to get rid of her soon." Robert was proud of their line of thinking. This was his family, the family he was proud of. When it came to doing something evil, he knew his family would always support him even when it came down to killing someone. They never failed to show their support. "I will be the one that kills her, I don't want you two staining your hands with her blood," he said with a gentle smile on his face. "We will finally be getting rid of Anastasia and she will be out of our lives forever," he promised. They waited for Anastasia to wake up. Robert's assistant had already arrived with the papers he had requested. They were in his hands, anticipating Ana's awakeness. When the nurse who was in charge of taking care of Anastasia informed them that she was finally awake, they quickly rushed in. Inside the hospital room, Anastasia saw the people she once called family. No, she corrected herself. She didn't want to call them her family again. "Monsters," she called them loud and clear for them to hear her. The Harrisons were shocked. Anastasia's defiance and resilience kept catching them off guard. This only made them more determined to get rid of her permanently once they had gotten what they wanted from her. They didn't want to waste time bothering with the name she called them. Robert threw the papers at her bed, pointing at it, he ordered, "Sign those papers. Those are the property and divorce papers. Sign them quickly and don't waste any time glaring at me." Anastasia glared at him one more time before her eyes landed on the papers. It was all because of the papers that she had lost her baby. She was also shocked when the nurse from earlier informed her that she had a miscarriage and needed to take a rest. "Where's Richard?" She questioned, her tone chilly with not an ounce of emotion. This was the first time she was using that tone on them. They would be lying if they said they didn't feel scared for a moment. As if on cue, the door of the hospital room opened and Richard came inside, looking drunk and smelling as if he showered with alcohol. "What happened? Why did you suddenly call me here?" Richard asked, his words slurred. The more Michelle stared at Richard in disgust, the more she cursed at Ana internally. "Anastasia had a miscarriage and I'm guessing the child is yours?" Robert asked, staring intently at Richard as the latter stumbled until he found a chair to seat. Anastasia scoffed from the bed. He made her look like a prostitute with his words. "He is the father, it's not a guess because you let him have his way with me whenever he wanted, and you wouldn't intervene even once," she reminded him, her tone filled with so much anger that she felt her chest squeeze tightly that it became difficult to breathe. "You were supposed to be a father." "Don't you dare sit down there and teach me about my role," Robert remarked. The both of them exchanged glares, none of them willing to back down. "So you mean to tell me that Anastasia was pregnant with my child and she lost the baby?" Richard asked, facing Anastasia. "You lost the baby?" He asked her directly but Anastasia didn't bother replying to him. He was drunk and there was a high chance he wouldn't even remember what occurred the next day. "Isn't that supposed to be good news?" He asked, smiling like a fool as his stench continued to fill the room. "It's good that you lost the baby because I'm not ready to be a father at all. So that was why you people called me over? Sighโ€ฆI'm leaving." He stood up from the chair and found his way out as he wobbled. As soon as Richard closed the door behind him, Robert urged Ana. "Sign those papers immediately." A tear dropped from Ana's eyes but she wiped it immediately. She took the papers. "I will only sign these documents under one condition," she said which surprised them. They hadn't expected her to give in so quickly. "What is it?" "It's a trade. I'm willing to trade the properties for my peace of mind. I'm going to leave forever and I don't want you looking for me to trouble me ever again," she responded, her seriousness evident in her firm tone despite the pain she felt in her chest. 5: A Hope To Reclaim A wild grin stretched across Robert's lips, making him look like the devil's replica. He nodded eagerly, agreeing to her condition without wasting a second. "I will leave you alone and you will never be a part of the Harrison family again," he said. "That's exactly what I want." Anastasia took the papers and signed them. The Harrisons watched as the ink stained the paper with her signature. They finally got what they wanted. Unbeknownst to Anastasia, they had a completely different plan for her. Anastasia handed the papers over to Robert and he wasted no time in retrieving them as his eyes glued on her signature. A few moments ago, Anastasia had been the richest member of the Harrison family. But now, having transferred everything she owned into Robert's name, he was the wealthiest. "I will have the doctor come treat you properly so that you will recover quickly," said Robert, a huge smile on his lips. Anastasia stared at him, her face expressionless. She didn't say anything to either him or the other two that were behind him. Michelle was with the divorce papers. It was obvious from her smile how she ogled at Anastasia's signature that she was happy about the divorce. Sadly, Xavier was on a business trip so the divorce had to wait until he came back. 'What can I expect from them? I shouldn't feel sad about this, I'm finally free from their clutches,' Ana thought to herself. The Harrisons excused her and called in the doctor to give her proper treatment. A few days passed, and it was finally the day Anastasia was going to be discharged from the hospital. She waited for Robert until nighttime, the hours dragging by, before he finally arrived. It was raining heavily on that day, making the streets slippery and dangerous. "Ana," Robert called her. He was sitting beside her in the back seat while his two bodyguards were at the front. "I'm so glad we are going home, everyone missed you," he added, a warm smile on his face which made Anastasia uncomfortable because he'd never spoken to her with warmth before. He attempted caressing her cheeks but Anastasia immediately scouted away from him. "I'm only going home to take the necessary things I need and I will leave," she corrected him, glaring at the hand he dropped by his side. Robert sighed, his smile still evident on his face. Anastasia saw the car change directions and she immediately became alert. "Where are we going?" She questioned. "This is not the way to the mansion." "I'm sorry but I can't let you leave, Ana." Before she could react, Robert hit her head hard with the gun he snuck out of his pocket without her noticing, making her go unconscious. They stopped the car for a brief second, carrying Anastasia to the boot of the car discreetly. They got back and continued their ride, heading towards their destination, where they planned to bury her. Suddenly, the car hit a patch of mud and skidded uncontrollably. The bodyguard who was driving tried to regain control, but the vehicle was very close to the edge of the road. Everyone inside was scared for their lives, except Anastasia who had already passed out in the boot of the car and was unaware of what was happening. The other cars on the street made their way quickly so they wouldn't collide together and have an accident occur. The car hit the barrier at the edge of the road, causing the trunk to fly open. Anastasia was thrown from the vehicle, rolling off the cliff and tumbling into the thick forest below. Robert quickly got out of the car when he was sure that the car was stable and found the booth of the car already opened. He gritted his teeth in anger. "We are going to search for Ana in the forest," he instructed and had the bodyguards follow him. They went the other way which led to the thick forest since they didn't think they would survive it if they jumped over the barrier. The search for Anastasia began. But unfortunately, after an hour of searching for her under the heavy rainfall, they grew tired. "Boss, there's a possibility that she has already been eaten by the wild animals," one of the two bodyguards said, his eyes darting from one tree to another in fear that a wild animal would jump on them and use them as their dinner. "I agree. Even before she lands in the thick forest, I'm sure the branches have already stabbed her. She won't be able to survive it, boss," the other one immediately agreed, hoping that their boss would just let them leave the creepy forest. Robert contemplated for a while before he replied, "I guess you are right. She won't be able to survive it. She's dead." He declared. They turned their backs, deciding to leave. ** Deep in the forest, a man clad in a suit with an umbrella above his head by one of his men, keeping him from getting wet ordered, "Make sure you leave no evidence behind." It was Xavier, talking to his men. The men, also clad in black suits, responded in unison. "Yes, boss!" They covered the body, a human trafficker who they had recently caught but refused to give them intel about his organization with sand, burying him deep in the ground. Xavier threw away the cigarette he was smoking in the forest, the rainfall quenching it immediately as he supervised his men. When he was sure that they didn't leave any evidence behind, he turned to leave but another one of his men screamed, grabbing his attention and the attention of others as well. "What is it?" Xavier questioned, annoyance evident in his tone. Even though the forest was thick and people rarely visited it, they still needed to be careful. "Boss, there's something over there," the man said, pointing to one side of the forest which was pitch black. A flashlight beam cut through the darkness, illuminating the area and giving them a clear view of the scene. Xavier walked towards the object with cautious steps but when he got closer, he realized it was a human being and not an object. Xavier pushed the body over to see the face. His eyes widened in shock and disbelief as he recognized the person lying before him. "Anastasia?" Yes 2024-10-15 09:54 active 1634 0 ๐Ÿ”ž๐Ÿ†Click To Read On I had been awake since before the sun rose. Sleep was never something that came easy to me. I often found myself staying up later than everyone else or waking up earlier just to have a few moments of peace. To have quiet time where I could pretend like my life was normal. Or I could pretend that I wasnโ€™t always so sad and hurting all of the time. I sat on my window sill and watched as the world outside came to life. It was beautiful. The birds and animals outside looked free and happy. Even the flowers bloomed with bright colors and looked careless as they blew in the breeze. I envied them greatly. More than anything I longed to be free. To have any moment feeling so careless and happy. I finally got off the ledge when the alarm on my phone rang softly on my nightstand. I grabbed a rubber band from my dresser and threw my long hair up in a tight ponytail. I grabbed my sweater and backpack before heading out. I was going to be late if I didnโ€™t get out to the kitchen soon. There would be hell to pay for that. The regular interactions I encountered with the Luna and my four adoptive brothers were torture enough. I didnโ€™t need to go making things worse for myself. I was not a glutton for punishment. As I moved through the halls, I couldnโ€™t believe it had almost been five years since I had been brought here. I was, of course, extremely grateful to my adoptive father, Alpha Angus, but in a lot of ways it was almost easier growing up on the streets and shifting between foster homes. I was brought to this castle in hopes that I would join the family and be accepted here but my adoptive mother and brothers made it clear that was never going to happen. I always had bullies and tough people on the streets and in foster homes. At least there I felt more equipped to defend myself. Hereโ€ฆ well, how could I fight back against the Luna of a pack? Much less her four sons. Jane and Myraโ€”the hired cooking staffโ€”were already working in the kitchen, getting things ready and prepared. It already smelt delicious. I could see the crockpot was already started for dinner. My stomach growled. โ€œGood morning, ladies. How are we doing today?โ€ I asked, grabbing my apron and tying it on. My voice was flat and low. I had no need to pretend with them. They both understood how difficult things could be in this house. Both of them exchanged a strange look before smiling awkwardly back at me. I felt a knot build up in my stomach. โ€œWhat is it?โ€ โ€œThe boys have requested breakfast burritos againโ€ฆโ€ Jane answered. I sighed and rolled my eyes. Creating meals for my adoptive brothers had always been the worst. They delighted in making extremely complicated orders and insisted I remake things when they werenโ€™t quite โ€˜perfectโ€™ enough. Often I would make something and they would try to gaslight me by insisting that was not what they had ordered. Who was I to question them? Insulting my cooking was a regular and they would all question how such a โ€˜fatโ€™ person could be so bad at making food. If I paid any attention to their bullying I would have several complexes about myself. โ€œLet me hear it,โ€ I said with a dramatic sigh. I leaned against the counter and closed my eyes to listen. This was always the worst part. I knew Myra and Jane felt sympathetic but it didnโ€™t help. Myra gave me an apologetic glance and began to read off the orders from the kitchen iPad. She rambled through the ridiculous concoctions the boys came up with and I let out a scoff with a dramatic eye roll more than once. I should be used to this by now but every day they still manage to get on every nerve that I had. โ€œWell, they are creative, Iโ€™ll give them that,โ€ I sneered. Both my friends chuckled as we started. โ€œAnd hot. They might be the hottest guys Iโ€™ve ever hated,โ€ Jane teased. We all laughed again. Jane was correct in saying that they were attractive. All of them were stunning and couldโ€™ve been models. Which almost made it that much worse. I would be lying if I said I hadnโ€™t thought about each of them at some point or another. But their awful treatment toward me erased the stars as soon as they came into my mind. We cooked and prepared until things were ready. Jane and I headed out to the living room where the boys were waiting. Zek, the eldest and most intellectual, was sitting in his usual spot reading some obnoxiously complicated textbook. Dylan was sprawled out on the loveseat reviewing texts and matches from random bimbos on the Internet. I choke back vomit. Lionel and Ger were arguing and cussing at each other while playing a violent and childish video game. I expected nothing less. These four boys had a knack for acting like they ruled the world. And in some ways they did. They were spoiled and arrogant. They were never given any ounce of responsibility, and yet someday they would be responsible for the entire pack. The thought was unsettling, to say the least. We wordlessly placed their burritos down. I hoped to leave before any of them had a chance to comment. I had almost made it out of the room when Ger called back after me. His voice startled me and for a moment stopped me in my tracks. โ€œGoodness, Rhea, how many of the ingredients did you sample before filling these burritos? Or are you just stuffing shit straight into your pants now? Look at the ass jiggle!โ€ he called out with a giggle. His brothers laughed as well, calling me โ€œfat assโ€ and โ€œbubbler buttโ€. I rolled my eyes and headed to the kitchen. I did not have a lot of experience hanging out with other girls or knowing what was considered โ€˜attractiveโ€™. I knew well enough to know that I couldnโ€™t trust the boys were always telling me the truth. They delighted in making me feel terrible. But still, their comments often stuck with me and I hated that. There was always a little voice in the back of my mind wondering if I truly was fat and ugly. I thought thatโ€™d be the end of it. I only had about 15 minutes before it was time for school. I tried to forget about what the boys had said, I tried to think about school or anything else. I sat at the little kitchen table and started eating my own food. But I was quickly interrupted as all four boys piled into the room. My breath caught in my throat. โ€œHiding in the kitchen, I see?โ€ Ger commented. โ€œIโ€™m just eating breakfast. I've moved away from youโ€ฆ What else do you want?โ€ I asked, trying not to sound as timid as I felt. โ€œWe just want to make sure you remember your place, chunky girl. Our father brought you here but youโ€™re not special. Youโ€™re not a part of the family,โ€ Lionel snarled. These were regular comments that I had heard continually since coming here. I stared at them blankly. Apparently, they wanted to make certain that all of their words and their insults sunk in. There was no room for confidence here. โ€œYeah, thatโ€™s why Iโ€™m eating in the kitchenโ€ฆโ€ I answered dryly. Lionel narrowed his eyes on me. โ€œAre you sassing me?โ€ I swallowed hard. โ€œAre you sure you really need such a big breakfast? I mean, look at you. If you keep eating no one will want you,โ€ Dylan chimed in with a wicked smirk. โ€œDoes it really matter? Clearly, already no one wants her. Her own parents didnโ€™t even want her,โ€ Ger joked. They all laughed. I frowned and tried not to let them see how hurt I really was. Dylan grabbed my plate and threw it toward the sink. It shattered and bits of porcelain flew around the room. I sighed knowing Myra or Jane would have to clean that up when we all left. I would have to apologize to them later. Having me here seemed to be a big inconvenience for everyone. I wondered if Alpha Angus recognized that. I doubted it. The boys continued to laugh and make other jokes. I continued to pretend like it didnโ€™t affect me. It was continually hard whenever they brought up my parents. I still had no idea who my parents were or why they had abandoned me. I was certain that Alpha Angus knew more than he was saying about where I came from. But I also knew he wasnโ€™t about to share any of that with me. The more he kept secrets the more I felt it must be something truly awful. Maybe they really didnโ€™t love me. โ€œBoys, come now weโ€™re going to be late!โ€ Luna Simona stood in the doorway to the kitchen. โ€œGoodness, look at this mess! Rhea, you are just impossible. Are you so incompetent that you canโ€™t create a few simple breakfasts without making such a mess? You are so lucky that my husband took pity on you, though I still canโ€™t imagine why. You are not even fit to be a servant in this house.โ€ Her words were dripping with disdain. She looked at me as she always didโ€”like a black stain on her otherwise perfect life. โ€œIโ€™m sorry, maโ€™am,โ€ I replied begrudgingly. She rolled her eyes and sighed. I felt frustrated and awful. My stomach hurt and growled. โ€œNever mind that now, you can clean it after school. Though why we bother to educate you at all Iโ€™ll never know. Itโ€™s clearly not having an effect on you since you canโ€™t even manage to clean the house or do your chores without making things worse or breaking things. The bus is coming, so hurry along, girl. Boys, Professor Stalling is waiting to give you your daily lessons.โ€ I untied my apron and headed out the door. My stomach grumbled as I moved on the way. I hoped Iโ€™d be able to get something from a vending machine before my first class. As I passed my adoptive mother she sighed, sounding exasperated. I tried not to let it affect me and I continued walking. I wanted to be tough. I wanted to be confident and not let their torments affect me. But the truth was I felt small all the time. I felt worthless and ugly. The more I thought about my parents and my childhoodโ€”bouncing around from place to placeโ€”the more I thought maybe the boys were right. Maybe I was unlovable and no one would ever want me. I tightened my jaw to keep myself from crying and headed out the door to wait for the bus. The brisk air was making it harder to keep my tears restrained. I didnโ€™t want to start crying before I went to school. I didnโ€™t need other students to see what a hot mess I was. I didnโ€™t need to be tortured and tormented in school any more than I already would be. As I stood on the corner and waited for the bus, I promised myself that I would get out of this place. I daydreamed about a beyond the Horace family, and a future free from the torture that I endured every day. I imagined finding a mate who really loved me and took care of me. Someone who would defend me against anyone who would try to bully me again. Those thoughts almost made me feel more sad. I felt certain that I would never find such a magical person. I would never find a mate. But I would, I swore to myself, find a way to escape this torturous existence. Chapter 2 The Alpha Female I climbed onto the bus and kept my head down. Everyone stared at me, putting their backpacks on empty seats as I passed. I found an empty seat in the back and took it quickly. I looked out the window and avoided the looks and whispers from the other students. Everyone knew who I was and everyone knew how I was treated. It had been worse when the Horace brothers were still in school. It almost gave the other students license to mock me and tease me just as ruthlessly. Now they mostly just talked about me behind my back, which was easier to ignore. Everyone except Anastasia, who seemed to think it was her mission to make sure I continued to suffer just as much as I would have if the boys were still in school. Part of me wondered if she blamed me for the twins breaking up with her. It was possible. Though she should have known better than to think that Dylan, at least, would have settled down with her. โ€œHello,โ€ came a new voice I hadnโ€™t heard before, โ€œis this seat taken?โ€ I looked up to see a pretty girl with golden hair smiling down at me. I raised a curious eyebrow. I hadnโ€™t seen her before but if she went to our school there was no way she didnโ€™t know who I was. โ€œUm, sure?โ€ I answered, feeling confused. Her smile grew wider as she sat down. โ€œIโ€™m Emma,โ€ she started. โ€œIโ€™m new. I just transferred here. Whatโ€™s your name?โ€ โ€œRhea. I feel like I should warn you. You wonโ€™t make many other friends sitting next to me. They might bully you right alongside me. I wonโ€™t be offended if you want to consider changing seats,โ€ I admitted. Her expression softened and she looked at me like she thought I was exaggerating or lying. โ€œThatโ€™s all right, Iโ€™m sure itโ€™s not as bad as all thatโ€”โ€ Before she could say anything else, she was interrupted by a shrill laugh. I rolled my eyes and looked forward to see her standing there in all her glory. Anastasia Duchannes. โ€œWhat in the world is this?โ€ she asked loud enough that the entire bus could hear. She made her way back toward us, keeping her sharp green eyes locked on me. โ€œYou actually found someone to talk to you?โ€ Now she turned her eyes on Emma. โ€œYou must be new. Let me help you out, sugar. You donโ€™t want to go making friends with the wrong sort of people. That one there, sheโ€™s the wrong sort of people. Since youโ€™re new, Iโ€™ll let this slide. Feel free to choose another seat.โ€ Emma looked at me and seemed a bit shocked. I shrugged sympathetically. I had tried to warn her. โ€œI told you I wonโ€™t be offended,โ€ I replied to Emmaโ€™s unspoken question. โ€œWhat could you have possibly done to warrant such treatment?โ€ Emma whispered. Anastasia laughed again. โ€œAre you serious? Look at her. This right here is the filth of the filth. She comes from the lowest rung on the totem pole. She isnโ€™t worth anything,โ€ she answered. Emmaโ€™s expression hardened. โ€œEveryone is worth something,โ€ she replied. Anastasia looked taken aback for a moment. I felt stunned. I had never seen anyone stand up to Anastasia like that, especially not on my behalf. โ€œI think Iโ€™m fine where I am, thank you.โ€ โ€œWell, Rhea, it looks like you found another bottom dweller. I hope you two fat asses are comfortable sharing such a small seat.โ€ Anatasiaโ€™s eyes lingered on Emma and I knew she had plans to make her regret her choice. โ€œThank you but I donโ€™t think you should have done that,โ€ I whispered. Emma smiled at me. โ€œI donโ€™t like bullies. Itโ€™s not okay how they treat you,โ€ she answered. I half smiled. โ€œExcept now you just earned yourself the same treatment. Trust me when I say Anastasia isnโ€™t the kind of girl you want to piss off.โ€ โ€œTell me about her.โ€ I proceeded to explain that Anastasia came from a prominent wolf pack. Her father was an Alpha and a cruel one at that. It had left Anastasia cold and evil. I explained about the Horace family and how she had dated the twins. How she still came around and hooked up with all of them. I mentioned how Anastasia had chanced away any other girl who showed even the slightest interest in any of the brothers. I told her how the boys treated me and that Anastasia took up their mantle. โ€œI think she hates me the most because she canโ€™t get rid of me. She had nothing to be jealous of. None of the Horace brothers would ever dream of being with someone like me but still, I think she views me as some kind of threat. Anyway, thereโ€™s no limit to the kinds of awful things she will do. Sheโ€™s turned torture and bullying into an art form,โ€ I answered dryly. Emma took a deep breath and looked forward. โ€œWell, thatโ€™s a lot. Iโ€™m so sorry youโ€™ve been through all that. Thatโ€™s not okay,โ€ she whispered. I shrugged and tried to brush it off. โ€œIt is what it is. Soon Iโ€™ll be 18 and get far away from this place,โ€ I said with a longing sigh. โ€œWhere will you go?โ€ she asked. I smiled at her and we started talking about our dreams and the future. It was one of the best conversations I have had in a long time. I realized how long it had been since I had had a real conversation with someone other than Myra and Jane. Not that they werenโ€™t great friends but they were much older than me and in a lower station. They couldnโ€™t fully understand everything I went through. Emma on the other hand was also 17 and seemed to really understand what it was like to be bullied and treated so poorly. When we arrived at school I said goodbye as I headed to my first class. โ€œWait!โ€ Emma called after me. โ€œDo you want to have lunch together? Whatโ€™s your number? Iโ€™ll text you when I get out of class.โ€ I smiled and walked back, giving her my phone number. I was excited that for the first time since coming to live with the Horace family, I wouldnโ€™t be eating lunch alone in the bathroom. I waved goodbye and headed to my first class. Classes were not as terrible as the in-between times. The teachers didnโ€™t seem to care so much that I was being teased and tormented but they cared when their lessons were interrupted. That was enough to put a stop to most studentโ€™s chances to harass me. I enjoyed first period the most. Math and numbers always seemed to come easiest to me. I was finding geometry even more fun than algebra. Normally, as the day moved on I found myself dreading lunch but knowing that I was going to hang out with Emma again made me feel differentโ€”better. I felt a sense of comradery that I had never felt before. It was nice to have someone to share all my hard times with. It was nice to be validated in my feelings about it all. Emma texted me about five after midday. She asked me to meet her by the bleachers in the open field. I quickly went through the lunch line and grabbed a bit more than usual. I still felt starving after missing breakfast. I tried to keep my head down and avoid any contact with other students. I didnโ€™t need any more comments on my diet or my looks. I took the long way around the quart yard to avoid Anastasia and her band of loyal followers. I somehow managed to make it all the way to the field without anything but a side comment in passing. โ€œHey, how were your first classes?โ€ I asked. Emma gave me a strange look. โ€œWell, you were right. It was a terrible choice to be friends with you. News travels very fast in this school,โ€ she exclaimed. I nodded. โ€œI warned you,โ€ I repeated. She nodded and popped a few grapes into her mouth. It was peaceful out in the field. There were a few odd couples in the area as well but almost no one else. I could still hear the other students laughing and talking near the quart yard and the cafeteria but we would go unnoticed for the most part sitting on the benches. I wondered momentarily why I had never thought to sit out here before. โ€œSo, tell me about your old school and why you moved here,โ€ I asked. Emma scoffed and began to tell me about life in her other city. It didnโ€™t seem that different from where we were except she was closer to the beach. She told me she had never been particularly popular and always tended to be an outcast. I laughed at her. โ€œWell then, maybe you did choose the right company,โ€ I teased. She smiled at me. We talked more about school and why her parents moved to a new city and a new pack. She seemed calm and content with almost everything, even the parts of her life that didnโ€™t seem particularly pleasant. โ€œHow do you manage to stay so positive?โ€ Emma didnโ€™t look at me but instead kept her eyes closed and aimed toward the sun. โ€œHonestly, I donโ€™t know. I wish I had a better answer for you but also I havenโ€™t had quite the life you had, Rhea. Things might be different if our situations were switched.โ€ The bell rang, urging us back to our classes. As we walked back to the main campus, Emma asked me to hang out again after school. I felt delighted. I was certain I would get some hell for not coming home straight away but it was worth it to feel like I had some semblance of a life. It was worth it to have a friend. The rest of the day carried on like normal. I did my best to stay focused despite some of the students passing me terrible notes and making whispered comments about me. I found it easier to put up with now. I met Emma by the bus station after school and walked with her to her house when it let us off. We spent a few hours talking, doing homework, and eating snacks that her mother had put out. I wondered if this was what life was like for all normal children. It was wonderful. I wanted to stay but knew I couldnโ€™t. When it was getting closer to dinner time I said goodbye and started to head home. I knew Myra and Jane would be missing me and I couldnโ€™t give Luna Simona or the boys any other reason to be cruel to me. I walked into the house and headed toward the living room and into the kitchen. I stopped when I saw Ger and Dylan very intimately on the couch with some girl I didnโ€™t recognize. She was going back and forth between making out with each of them while they let their hands run wild over her body. She let out soft coos of pleasure but stopped abruptly when she saw me standing there. As soon as she stopped, Ger and Dylan looked up as well and narrowed their eyes in anger when they saw me. โ€œGet out you nasty perv! What are you doing just standing there like some dumb idiot?โ€ Dylan screamed. I quickly forced my feet to move and headed into the kitchen. Both of them were still calling after me. I heard the girl exclaim that she had to leave. Oh, no. I knew I was really in for it now. โ€œWhat is it? Whatโ€™s happened?โ€ Simona asked, coming into the kitchen. She was followed quickly by Dylan and Ger. โ€œThis dumb girl was spying on us in the living room. We wereโ€ฆ entertaining and our guest left early. She wasnโ€™t comfortable with a nasty little spy,โ€ Ger explained. I swallowed hard. โ€œI think we should punish her,โ€ Dylan added. I could tell from my adoptive motherโ€™s expression that that was exactly what they were going to do. -------------------------------------------------- There are limited chapters to put here, click โ€œlearn moreโ€ to open App to continue reading (It will automatically jump to the book) LEARN_MORE https://website.literiess.com/share/middle/5hmskf2 Literie-Alpha King https://www.facebook.com/61555762332950/ 223 0 0 1969-12-31 18:00 0 0 0 0 0 0 Learn more 0 website.literiess.com VIDEO https://website.literiess.com/share/middle/5hmskf2a01fx0uh1ny4fuvll?campaign_id=%7B%7Bcampaign.id%7D%7D&adset_id=%7B%7Badset.id%7D%7D&ad_id=%7B%7Bad.id%7D%7D&campaign=%7B%7Bcampaign.name%7D%7D&adgroup=%7B%7Badset.name%7D%7D 1969-12-31 18:00 https://scontent-lga3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/463372935_523882133902732_2455737177729644312_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_s60x60&_nc_cat=108&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=sV9EBmfNdHQQ7kNvgHXXTVI&_nc_zt=14&_nc_ht=scontent-lga3-1.xx&_nc_gid=APUQwYv56KXnoZ5PIohJezD&oh=00_AYB1gpXS8UwlTGLYY7KfFyQaNeuY7CfeS7l1poRT6Qrx-w&oe=671442C4 PERSON_PROFILE 0 0 0 Literie-Alpha King 0 0 1969-12-31 18:00 View Edit

Yes 2024-10-15 09:54 active 1634 0 Read more On the day of her difficult childbirth, her husband and lover were as close as glue, and her heart was as lifeless as ashes. She decided to divorce! ============= Chapter 1 Ex-girlfriend Returns Raegan Hayes was a little absent-minded at the moment. All she could think of since this afternoon was the doctor's words. "Congratulations! You are going to be a mom." Suddenly, Mitchel Dixon pinched her arm. His low voice came the next second. "Come back to earth. What are you thinking about?" Mitchel was her husband. They had been married secretly for two years. He was her superior at work, the president of the Dixon Group. Everything had happened so fast. She was newly employed in the company when they unexpectedly got married. At that time, Mitchel's grandfather fell seriously ill. It was then he proposed a fake marriage just to fulfill his grandfather's dying wish. They signed a prenup, agreeing to hide their marriage from the public. Their union could be terminated at any time. It was an unconventional thing to do. However, Raegan only considered herself lucky at that time. Never in a million years did she think she would ever get married to the man she had a crush on for eight years. She delightfully agreed. After their marriage, Mitchel was very busy. He spent most of his time working. Raegan wished she could spend more time with him at home. However, she was rest assured because there hadn't been any rumors or scandals about him with women in the past two years. Except for his mild indifference, Mitchel was a perfect husband. Raegan had mixed feelings as she stared at the medical report. In the end, she decided to tell Mitchel this news. She also wanted to tell him that she hadn't learned about him for the first time two years ago and that she had been crushing on him for many years before then. Just then, Mitchelโ€™s phone rang. He went to the balcony and answered the phone. Raegan checked the time and found that it was already midnight. She felt a little uneasy. Who would call Mitchel at this hour? Mitchel spent a few minutes on the balcony. Thereafter, he returned and changed into formal attire. His handsome face which had a clear outline made him look dignified. He was something to see now. "Don't wait up for me. Good night," he said finally. What? He was on his way out? At this hour? Raegan's grip on the report tightened as she stared at him in disappointment. Unconsciously, she withdrew slightly. After thinking for a while, she blurted out, "It's already so late." Mitchel's fingers froze on his tie. With a faint smile, he pinched her earlobe and said, "Be good, okay? There's something I have to do. Don't wait up." With that, he headed for the door. "Mitchel." Raegan quickly ran and caught up with him. Mitchel turned around and looked at her seriously. "What's the matter?" There was a tinge of coldness to his voice. An icy cloud hung over them as they stared at each other. A little distressed, Raegan asked in a low voice, "I would like to visit my grandma tomorrow. Can you accompany me there?" Her grandmother always wanted to see her. As a result, Raegan wanted to take Mitchel there to assure her grandma they were happy. "Let's talk about it tomorrow, okay?" Without agreeing or declining, Mitchel left in a hurry. Several thoughts were threading Raegan's mind. She couldn't sleep a wink. After tossing and turning for a long time, she went to the kitchen and made herself a warm glass of milk. A few notifications from some online blogs came into her phone. However, she wasn't interested in them. She was about to swipe them away when one of them caught her attention. The familiar name made her click on it. The news read, "Famous designer, Lauren Murray was spotted at the airport with her mysterious boyfriend earlier today." Lauren was wearing a bucket hat. The man's figure was vague, but the outline of his body was enough to show that he was dashing. Raegan zoomed in on the picture. The next second, her heart dropped. Mitchel was the man in the picture! So, he canceled the afternoon meeting just to go pick up his ex-girlfriend from the airport? This realization settled like a boulder in Raegan's gut, rendering her flustered. Her hands trembled. Subconsciously, she dialed Mitchel's number. The dial tone brought her back to her senses. Just as she was about to hang up, the line connected, and a voice came from the other end. "Hello!" It was a particularly gentle woman's voice. Raegan froze for a second and then threw the phone away. She suddenly felt sick in her stomach. Covering her mouth, she ran into the bathroom and threw up in the toilet bowl. The next morning, Raegan went to work on time. Mitchel had tried to get her to stop working after they got married. Stubbornly, she insisted on making her own money. Mitchel didn't kick against her decision, but he asked her to work as his assistant, helping him with the daily chores. The head assistant, Matteo Jenkins was left to take care of the major affairs Mitchel had. Matteo was the only Dixon Group employee who knew about their marriage. Since inception, only male assistants were hired for the president's office. Reagan was the first and only female. Her employment broke the protocol. As a result, other workers couldn't help but wonder if she was involved with Mitchel. It took a while before they realized that Mitchel never gave Raegan special treatment. Strangely, this made them despise her even more. After all, no one would last long in anything while taking advantage of their looks. At this time, one of Raegan's colleagues handed her a document and ordered her to take it to Mitchel's office. Mitchel didn't return home last night. Raegan was so worried that she didn't sleep at all. All she kept thinking about was the woman who answered his phone when she called. What was her relationship with Mitchel? Raegan already knew the answer to that, but she was still in denial. It was difficult for her to come to terms with that fact. Raegan tried to remain calm now. She reasoned that no matter what happened, she deserved a result that would be rewarding for all the years she spent loving Mitchel. This couldn't be all for nothing, right? She pressed the elevator button calmly and went up to the president's office. Before she walked out of the elevator, she smoothed her hair to make sure she looked good. She had arrived at the office, only to see that the door was ajar. A man's voice came. She halted instantly. "Come on, man! Do you have any feelings for Raegan or not?" The voice belonged to Luis Stevens, a childhood friend of Mitchel's. "What do you mean exactly?" Mitchel asked in a cold voice. "You know exactly what I mean!" Luis clicked his tongue impatiently and added, "I think Raegan is a good girl. Isn't she your type?" "Do you want me to hand her over to you?" Mitchel asked carelessly. "You know what, forget it!" The scornful laughter of Luis sounded particularly harsh in Raegan's ears. They were talking about her as if she were an object. Raegan took a deep breath and tightened her grip on the document. Soon, Luis's voice was heard again. "By the way, I saw the gossip news about Lauren's mysterious boyfriend this morning. That was you, right?" "Yes." "Well, well, well! That woman still has you wrapped around her little finger. You always want to please her." Luis sighed and continued to tease Mitchel. "As the old saying goes, absence makes the heart grow fonder. Tell me, did you two..." Their conversation was like a thunder exploding over Raegan's head. Her face turned pale and her body was as cold as ice. The woman was indeed Lauren! Absence made the heart grow fonder! Every word drove a knife into her heart. Several whispering voices filled her head at this time. She suddenly felt light-headed. Her vision became blurry. She held the wall and took a step backward. Suddenly, the door was opened from inside. "Raegan?" Chapter 2 One-sided Love Luis was the one who opened the door. It appeared he was on his way out. Raegan balled her hands, turned to him, and nodded. "Hey, Mr. Stevens!" Without waiting for him to respond to her greeting, she walked past him and entered the office with the document. Mitchel was seated behind a large luxurious desk. In an expensive suit and matching tie, he looked particularly handsome. Raegan noticed it wasn't the same suit he had on when he left home last night. How did he get changed? With her eyes lowered, she swallowed that question and said instead, "Mr. Dixon, this is from the Marketing Department. Please sign it." Mitchel was expressionless as he signed the document at a glance. Raegan walked out the door as soon as he handed the document back to her. Luis was still standing at the threshold. It wasn't until she went out of sight that Luis turned to Mitchel and said in a hushed tone, "Do you think she heard us?" Mitchel's appealing eyes were expressionless at the moment. Obviously, he wasn't paying attention to what Luis was saying. To Mitchel, Raegan had always been docile and never felt jealous of anyone. Her strict obedience was all Mitchel demanded from her in exchange for treating her well. In the elevator. Raegan held her breath just to hold back her tears. Unfortunately, it didn't work. She had thought two years would be enough for Mitchel to realize how much she loved him and reciprocate her love. Now, it turned out that was just a pipe dream. She realized she would always play second fiddle to Lauren, Mitchel's true love. Reagan wiped her tears when the elevator halted. Save for her pale face, she looked normal when the doors opened. She dragged herself to the break room, intending to make herself a cup of tea. Several employees were chatting inside. "Guys, have you heard? Lauren Murray is back." "And who is that?" "Oh, my! You don't know her? Lauren is the heiress of the Murray Group as well as a world-class designer. Most importantly, she's the only girlfriend Mr. Dixon has ever shown off in public. She's his first love!" "Why is her return such a big deal? Isn't it rumored that there is something between Mr. Dixon and Raegan?" "Raegan? She's nothing to Mr. Dixon. Mr. Dixon never admitted that he was dating her. And that is no surprise to me. After all, look at her. She's not even that beautiful. Yet, she behaves as if she's already Mrs. Dixon. What a fool!" Standing at the door, Raegan smiled with self-mockery as she listened to them. It turned out everyone else saw the truth except her. The love was one-sided. "Ha-ha, have you finally woken up from your wild dream, Raegan?" A voice of mockery suddenly came from behind. Raegan turned around to see Tessa Lloyd, Mitchel's cousin, who had always despised her. Tessa must have also heard the employees gossiping. The last thing Raegan wanted to do now was argue with Tessa in the company. She turned to leave, but Tessa blocked her way. With a cup of coffee in her hand, Tessa uttered sarcastically, "Lauren is back now. Do you think Mitchel will still give you any attention?" Raegan said nothing to that. Seconds later, Tessa continued the ridicule. "Maybe itโ€™s time for you to seek out another man, you pathetic fool." Raegan clenched her fists and said coldly, "Ms. Lloyd, if you are interested in that kind of thing, feel free to pursue it yourself." "You..." Raegan's retort made Tessa's face change. The next second, Tessa raised her hand and emptied the cup of coffee on Raegan. Raegan didn't think for a second that Tessa would do something so crazy. She held up her arms just to block the liquid from her face. In no time, the coffee drenched her clothes. Raegan frowned. "What did you do that for? Are you out of your mind?" It was lunch break and many employees were free to watch the drama. Tessa was even more complacent when she saw growing onlookers. She put on a mean-girl look as she said, "What makes you so smug every day, huh? Do you seriously think that others don't know you are just an orphan? The nerve of..." Tessa was silenced by Raeganโ€™s shove. Her jaw dropped to the floor. She had never expected that Raegan, who was so quiet and timid, would shove her. Tessa stuttered, "You... You pushed me? How dare you!" Raegan eyed her and replied, "Yes, I did! It seems you need to be taught simple politeness." Indeed, she lost her parents when she was a child. But that didn't mean she would allow someone to walk over her for it. Wrinkles appeared on Tessa's face as she frowned in anger. As Mitchel's cousin, she was used to being fawned over and respected. This was the first time she had been treated like this. Tessa charged at Raegan like a raging bull, poised to retaliate. This time, Raegan was fully prepared for what was coming. She grabbed Tessa's wrist so that the latter couldn't move another inch. Tessa was shorter than Raegan. As a result, she struggled like an octopus that had one of its tentacles stuck in a fishing trap. Tessa cursed angrily, "How dare you put your hands on me? Who do you think you are?" These harsh words attracted more people to the break room. "That's enough!" Out of the blue, a baritone came from behind. Mitchel had left his office and ran into this hullabaloo. The entire room fell silent. "Mitchel?" Tessa's blood ran cold at the sight of Mitchel. She had always been scared of him. Her mother also warned her against provoking him. But when she remembered that Raegan humiliated her, she put on a pitiful expression and sobbed. "Mitchel, she bullied me." The sunlight from outside fell on Mitchel's handsome face. Raegan felt so grieved all of a sudden, and lowered her head to look at her clothes which were soaked with coffee. Their gaze met in the air. With a deep frown, Mitchel looked at Raegan and said, "Raegan, have you forgotten the rules of the company?" His ruthlessness made Raegan's breathing cease. She couldn't believe her ears. No one dared to make a sound at this moment. Raegan just stood straight there with her slender figure. When she got employed here, Mitchel had told her that the Dixon Group wasn't a place for her to mess around and that he would not tolerate her making any mistakes. Raegan could understand why he took this stand. However, at this moment, she was desperate to know whether Mitchel had heard those hard words Tessa scolded her or he was just pretending not to have heard because he agreed to those words. Was she truly insignificant to him? Scared to death by Mitchel's rage, the crowd soon dispersed. A few employees were bold enough to peep from a distance, unwilling to miss the good show. Mitchel's cold eyes made Raegan shiver from head to toe. Raegan pinched her palm to suppress her emotions as she looked at Tessa. "I'm sorry, Ms. Lloyd. As an employee of the Dixon Group, it was wrong of me to have offended you." Eyeing Raegan, Tessa raised her chin complacently. "Humph! Don't think you'll be let off the hook just by making a simple apology. I don't buy..." "The offence has nothing to do with the company. Personally, I refuse to apologize to you. Now, if you'd excuse me," Raegan chimed in. She then walked past Mitchel without sparing him another look. "You..." Tessa's face turned blue after hearing what Raegan said. Never in her years of being alive had she been so humiliated. She was always the bully, not the victim! The humiliation was so much that scolding Raegan wouldn't appease her anger. Pointing in Raegan's direction, Tessa shouted, "Mitchel, did you hear what that woman just said? She humiliated me, yet she's still so arrogant. Call her back. I have to teach her some manners!" Mitchel, staring at Raegan's thin back, had an ambiguous expression at this moment. "Enough!" he said coldly, raising his hand. As someone who lived and breathed drama and cruelty, Tessa didn't think Mitchel was partial to Raegan just now. She assumed that Mitchel didn't care about Raegan at all. Tessa gritted her teeth and said viciously, "Next time, I'll get someone to teach her a lesson." "Tessa!" Mitchel's tone and squint made it a reproof. Tessa trembled at once. With a somber face, Mitchel said, "I'll only say it once. Forget about what happened here today. Leave Raegan alone." The aura he exuded made her tongue go dry. All the vicious ideas she had in store against Raegan disappeared in an instant. She stammered, "Ok... Okay, got it..." Mitchel cast a cold glance at her and spoke to Matteo. "Irrelevant people wouldn't be allowed in here from today onwards." Without catching the drift, Tessa flattered Mitchel. "Nice call. This is a top company. Not everyone gains access in here." Matteo nodded to Mitchel and then walked over to Tessa. He gestured to the exit. "Ms. Lloyd, this way, please." It wasn't until this moment that Tessa realized that she was the irrelevant person Mitchel just mentioned. She tried to speak to him, but Matteo blocked her way. The security guards then escorted her out. They showed her no mercy. Her struggle was useless. Meanwhile, Raegan got changed when she returned to her office. Her heart was filled with sadness as she thought of how Mitchel looked at her minutes ago. Closing hour soon rolled by. Raegan took her bag and headed for the exit. However, Matteo stopped her. He said, "Mr. Dixon has something urgent to deal with, so he asked me to drive you home." Raegan declined the ride without thinking twice. She was blind before, but now she could see through the situation. In Mitchel's eyes, she was just a nobody. How could Mitchel agree to accompany her to visit her grandmother when he didn't even care about her? Upon arriving at the hospital, Raegan saw that the nurse was about to feed her grandmother dinner. Raegan took the job over and did it by herself. All her life, her grandmother had been living in the countryside, enjoying a quiet life. Everything changed last month when her routine medical checkup showed that she was in need of medical care. Raegan insisted on bringing her to the city for better treatment. Her grandmother wasn't aware of her marriage to Mitchel. Raegan had planned to surprise her today. But as it turned out, that was no longer necessary. Raegan waited for her grandmother to fall asleep before she left. She walked out of the hospital and waited for a taxi. In the distance, a black luxury car pulled into the entrance of the hospital. Raegan's eyes lit up when she saw it. She recognized that car as Mitchel's. Did he come to pick her up? At this moment, she forgot all the pain she had been feeling. Were her thoughts about him all wrong? Did he care for her, contrary to the gossip? The door of the driver's side opened and Mitchel got out. Raegan started walking toward him with her heart brimming with joy. Suddenly, she stopped dead in her tracks. Mitchel had just walked over to the other side and carried a woman out of the car. Worry and compassion were written all over his handsome face. This wiped the smile on Raegan's face. Her heart sank. Chapter 3 Let's Divorce Mitchel's tall and straight figure got closer and closer to Raegan. And then, without saying a word, he strode past Raegan. It was hard to tell if Mitchel saw Raegan or just ignored her. Regardless, Raegan noticed that the woman in his arms was the same one who had been photographed with him yesterday. She was Lauren. Raegan's shoes felt like they were made of lead as she walked away. She lost all awareness of her surroundings. She got into a taxi absentmindedly. Suddenly, the driver uttered, "Ma'am, where to?" Raegan was stunned for a moment. She didn't want to go back to Serenity Villas. It was only a matter of time before that place stopped being her home. After a while, she replied, "Please take me to Crystal Bay." She had purchased an apartment at Crystal Bay after getting married to Mitchel. At the time, she had hopes of bringing her grandmother to the city, so she bought the apartment on mortgage. It wasn't that big, but it had more than enough space for two people. Mitchel didn't understand why she wanted to buy an apartment. He offered to give her a bigger one, but she declined. Looking back now, she realized that buying that apartment was the only wise decision she had ever made in the last two years. When she arrived at the apartment complex, Raegan sat in the park alone, trying to cool herself down. The memories of the past two years were bittersweet. Two years had passed in the blink of an eye even though it was more than seven hundred days and nights. Love could move mountains, they said. Yet, her love didn't move that stone of a man. She finally realized what a fool she had been. She had been making herself a laughingstock in front of everyone. It was already late in the night before Raegan finally decided to go into her apartment. As soon as she stepped out of the elevator, she saw Mitchel standing in front of the door. His sleeves were rolled up casually, and the top buttons of his shirt were undone, which revealed his long neck and part of his collarbone. He was leaning on the wall by the door, his handsome face straight. Raegan froze for a moment. Why was he here? Didn't she see him at the hospital with Lauren? What brought him here? Their eyes met. With his coat draped over his arm and one of his hands in his pocket, Mitchel squinted at her. "Why didn't you answer the phone?" he asked, sounding a little grumpy like someone who hadn't slept in a long time. Raegan took out her phone and saw she had accidentally put it on DND. There were five missed calls from Mitchel. This marked the first time in their two-year marriage. Mitchel blew up her phone because he couldn't find her? Surprising! Before today, she would have been overjoyed by this. People would've thought she won the lottery. But now, she just threw her phone back into her bag, folded her arms, and said in a hoarse voice, "I didn't hear it ring." Mitchel raised his hand to check the time on the watch, and said impatiently, "I've been looking for you for two hours." After arranging everything for Lauren, he returned home to find an empty house. He looked for Raegan everywhere. When he couldn't find her, he asked Matteo to check the surveillance footage of all the roads that led away from the company. He later found out that Raegan went to Crystal Bay without telling him. "Next time, tell me when you are coming here, okay? Let's go home now." After that, Mitchel walked toward the elevator without sparing her another glance. He meant to go back to Serenity Villas. Raegan didn't move an inch. She just stared at his broad back and pondered reluctantly. Would they have a future? Mitchell turned around, only to see that Raegan hadn't taken a single step. He frowned and asked, "Can't you walk? Do you want me to carry you instead?" The light in the corridor illuminated his face, making his side profile almost impeccable. Raegan took a deep breath and said, "Let's divorce." "What do you mean?" Mitchel's voice was cold, and his handsome face changed immediately. "I want to move into my own place. After all, we will be strangers soon." Raegan forced a smile, but her heart was aching as if someone was tearing it apart bit by bit. "We will be strangers?" Mitchel smiled coldly. "Raegan, what do you think our relationship is now?" His questioning left Raegan stunned for a moment. Mitchel had made it very clear to her from the very beginning. This facade of their marriage had happened by mutual agreement. There was no love. In the eyes of others, they were nothing more than just a superior and a subordinate. Mitchel was quite the catch in Ardlens. Many young ladies longed for his love and were even willing to throw themselves at him. His question just now reminded her of that fact. Was he afraid that she wouldn't let him go that easily? If that was the case, he couldn't be more wrong... After biting her lower lip to conceal her bitterness, Raegan said, "I'm sorry, Mr. Dixon. I was giving it too much thought. Anyway, please leave me alone from now on. You don't have to come here again." After saying that, Raegan couldn't help but burst into tears. How could she not be sad when she was cutting ties with the man she had loved for a decade? It was such a long time. Regardless of how difficult it was, she knew it was time to let go. It was high time she stopped being a fool. Strangely, the light in the corridor began flickering. The deathly stare Mitchel was giving Raegan right now made the atmosphere seem like the moment before an attack in a horror movie. Although he understood that Raegan sometimes could throw a tantrum, he felt that she had just crossed the line now. His eyes shone like blazing torches at this moment. But when he saw the tears in her eyes, the rage inside him extinguished in an instant. He said in a low voice, "If this is about what happened between you and Tessa, I..." "No, this isn't about her. Mr. Dixon, please leave now." A lot of things happened between them. And the incident with Tessa didn't come close to any. Raegan felt exhausted. She passed by Mitchel and was about to open the door. Yet, Mitchel was displeased with her stubbornness. He loosened his tie irritably. He then took a step forward and grabbed her wrist. "Stop this, will you?" A second later, he put his arm around her shoulder and pulled her into his arms. He instantly realized that she was burning up like someone who had been set on fire. "You have a fever?" Raegan felt dizzy. She rested her head on his chest weakly. This made the whole situation complicated. Reagan was slow to catch that. When she finally realized that her body was too close to his, she put her hands against his chest and tried to pull back. Before she could escape, Mitchel pulled her back and held her by the waist. With a cold face, he said in a low voice, "Where do you think you are going?" The light flickered again. Out of the blue, Mitchel lifted her up. He then headed for the elevator. In a daze, Raegan asked softly, "What are you doing?" "What does it look like I am doing?" Mitchel remarked. "Taking you to the hospital, of course." "No way!" Raegan cried out in surprise and seemed to regain more strength. Mitchel might find out about her condition if they went to the hospital. Raegan struggled to get out of Mitchel's arms. However, his tight grip made her efforts fruitless. "Don't be so stubborn. You are sick, so you must see the doctor," Mitchel said firmly. He walked to the elevator with her in his arms. At this moment, Raegan's heart was thumping so hard that it could jump out of her chest. She flailed in protest. "Put me down! I don't want to go to the hospital!" Yes 2024-10-15 09:54 active 1634 0 ๐Ÿ”ž๐Ÿ”žClick to read the full novel๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿ‘‰ "Ahhhhhhhhโ€ฆ" My body jolted, and something poured out of my, streaming down my legs and soaking the bed. I felt my forehead and beads of sweat got stuck to my hand. Mated to my stepfather, I could only imagine how amazing it would be for him to touch me, to caress me and kiss every inch of my skin. My breathing slowed down, but my body jerked at irregular intervals as I still savoured the feeling of my 0rg@sm. "Would you do this for me again?" I froze at the familiar voice, and when I raised my head and looked at the door. My body stiffened. My stepfather, Alpha Andrรฉ stood at my door. His hands were folded across his chest, and he had a smirk on his face. What the hell? *** Chapter 1 Olivia's POV I sat in my living room, rocking back and forth on my father's old chair. I could still smell his scent on the old leather, bringing tears to my eyes. In my arms, I cradled the porcelain jar that held my dadโ€™s ashes. It still felt like a dream. I pinched myself multiple times to wake myself up from this nightmare, but I only ended up with bruises on my arms each time my fingernails sank into my skin, drawing blood. This was no dream. Dad was dead. It was almost unbelievable, but it was true. I glanced over at the table, and on it was the letter the Luna of my pack had delivered to me during Dad's funeral. I picked it up and read through it for the tenth time. Regardless of how many times I read it, I still couldn't believe she was coming here after everything that she did, after all this time. That was impossible. Yet, my suitcase was packed beside me because Luna Mia had also been quite clear on her stance. Since Dad was gone, I had to leave. I was leaving my pack, the only home I had known all my life, to stay withโ€ฆ Knock! Knock! Knock! I was jerked from my brooding. I carefully placed the jar on the table and walked to the door. The impatient knocking came again, and the air was suddenly filled with the scent of expensive, intrusive perfume, which almost blurred Dad's scent, that was still lingering in the room. I walked to the door, flung it open, and saw her. My mother. She was nothing like I remembered from her lips, which were a bright red, and the flashy large hoop earrings that were dangling on both ears. She cleared her throat, interrupting my assessment, "God! You look like a mess, Olivia.โ€ Her eyes swept over me in one fair swoop of disgust. "You should brush your hair. It looks like a bird's nest." Her voice was high and full of mockery. This was exactly like I remembered. Only that, Dad used to be at the receiving end of that mockery. Now, it was me. "What are you doing here, Nicole?โ€ She gasped and looked at me angrily, and I took joy in seeing the displeasure on her face as her lips turned down angrily at the sides. "Where are your manners, young lady? Need I remind you that I am still your mother.โ€ I scoffed. A person like her could call herself a mother? Without waiting for my reply, Nicole pushed past me and entered the house. I closed the door and watched her in anger as she looked around. "Still looks the same. Your father never changed those filthy sofas after all." She turned to me again. "You got my letter, didn't you?" I folded my arms and stared angrily at her. "Yeah, I did. Tell me this is some joke." My mother laughed sarcastically and suddenly glared at me angrily, โ€œLook, Liv..." "Don't call me Liv.โ€ That was something that only my loved ones could call me. She was not on that list. Although there was no list anymore as there had been only one personโ€”Dad. And he was not even here anymore. Another wave of heartache hit me while Nicole rolled her eyes and ignored my comment. "Look, I don't have much time. Get your stuff and get into the car, and if I feel like it, I can explain things to you." She gave the house one last disgusted look over and walked out. I sighed angrily and sat in my dad's chair. What was all this? Why did she have to come? When I had gotten the letter from the packโ€™s Luna, a part of me had desperately hoped that it was some prank and that she wouldnโ€™t make it. After all, I had spent thirteen years waiting for her to walk through these same doors. Yet, she had ended up coming. I heard a low rumbling sound, and I looked out of the window; I saw a black BMW. I raised my eyebrow in surprise. That was my mother's ride? Where on earth did she... The car outside honked its horn, and I knew my time here was up. Still holding the jar with my dad's ashes, I dragged my suitcase out of the door. My mum finally stopped honking as I walked up to the car with my suitcase. "I don't even know why you even bother carrying those ashes. Your hands are all dirty. Could you not get them on my seats? They're Italian leather." I scoffed angrily. How dare she? "You're unbelievable! How could you say that about Dad?!" She rolled her eyes and gave me a pointed stare. "Do you even know how much Italian leather costs?" I was dumbfounded, but she couldn't care less. "For the record," I said in a grim tone. "I am only tagging along because Dad would have wanted me to. I'd rather be dead with him than go anywhere with you." โ€œThat would have been better, Liv,โ€ she mumbled and turned away. If I had expected that anything would be different after thirteen years and a new ride, I was awfully wrong, and Nicole was in a hurry to let me know. โ€œDriver, step on it. I have things to do." The driver started the car, and then we sped away, leaving my old life, house and everything I have ever known behind. "How long is this ride?" I asked, turning back to the window. It felt like we had been driving for hours. The scenery was lovely. There were lots of flowers and beautiful trees, and the grass was lush green. Soon, we pulled up in front of a large mansion, and its grandeur took my breath away. "I forgot to mention that your stepfather is the Alpha of this pack. He owns this place," my mom said, brimming with pride, and I resisted an eye roll. Before I could say anything else, the driver opened the door, and she stepped out. However, I remained in the car, boiling with anger as my shock vanished into thin air. This explained everything. She was such a gold-digger! She had abandoned Dad and me all these years to marry some old, rich Alpha. My stomach churned in disgust at my mother. Suddenly, the door opened, and the driver stood beside it. "Miss Olivia, do you need help with your bags?" "No," I said, coarsely. "I can sort myself out." I got out of the car, hoisted my suitcase out, and kept my dad's ash jar firmly tucked under my arm. I walked to the front door and saw my mother waiting for me. "I see you finally got out. I was starting to think that the magnificence of this place had rendered your little legs paralysed." Her voice was haughty and arrogant, and I felt my cheeks burn hot with fury. We walked inside and were face to face with a giant golden staircase. I was taken aback. This house was huge! Maids walked by my mother and me, greeting her as โ€˜Luna', and each time I heard it, I felt my insides boil hotter, and sadness washed over me. I couldn't believe she had been here all this time, basking in all this wealth while we struggled daily to get by. The sound of hurried steps echoed, and Mom turned to me and whispered harshly. "Get out of here. The maids will show you to your room." I raised an eyebrow and folded my arms defiantly. "No." "I'm warning you, Olivia. And keep your voice down." I scoffed. "Last I checked, this house belongs to your boo thing, not you. I need him to say it if he doesn't want me here. And I hope he says it so I can get out of here." Every nerve in my body tingled with electricity as the steps got closer. What was happening to me? With my heart thumping against my chest, I turned to look at the staircase. Every thought cleared from my head as I looked at him. My heart skipped a beat, and every step he took towards us made me feel like I could not breathe or look away from the perfection that he was. Built like some Greek god, the man walking down the staircase looked like he had walked out of some human magazine cover, and I felt myself melt under his dominance as soon as he was in front of me. His aura made my body shiver with pleasure, admiration and awe. โ€œMATEโ€, my wolf growled. "Alpha Andrรฉ, good afternoon.โ€ My mom spoke up, and it was only then that I noticed that every other head was bowed except mine. Wait, Alpha? My eyes widened as I did the maths. This was her new husband? He was the last thing from an old, rich Alpha, and I was struggling to pull my eyes away from him. How on earth did he end up with someone like Nicole? Ignoring Nicole, his eyes fell on me, "who is this?โ€ Chapter 2 Olivia's POV โ€œWho is this?โ€ His deep, sonorous voice resonated throughout the room, and my body tingled to the sound. I felt his green eyes wash over me in one swoop, and I instantly felt giddy while butterflies began to flap in my stomach. Without trying to be discreet, I checked him out properly. His hair was dark, and his muscular torso strained against his tight shirt, outlining his abs and pecs. I felt myself drooling with desire. I couldn't explain what I felt, but a part of me was yearning for him. His face was dashingly handsome, and my eyes trailed down to his sharp and chiselled jaw. I gawked at his soft lips and began to imagine how it would feel to kiss themโ€ฆ Shocked at my thoughts, I shook my head to push those unholy thoughts away. But the moment my eyes met his one more time, I was stuck. There was no way that he was my stepdad. Alpha Andrรฉ raised his eyebrow; he looked pretty intrigued, and I felt the lump in my throat disappear. "My name is Olivia. I'm Nicole's dโ€ฆ" "Sister!" said my mom, cutting in nervously. "She is my sister from a distant pack." I stared at Nicole, stunned. She didn't want him to know that I was her daughter. "Screw you!" I yelled angrily at her, and she gave me a death stare. I ignored it and turned to Andrรฉ. I was almost caught off guard by his sparkling green eyes. "I'm Nicole's daughter. It seems she left that part out of her resumรฉ when she applied to be your wife." From the corner of my eyes, I could see Mom getting red in the face, and her anger was burning hot, but I didn't care. I was determined to push her buttons. "Nicole didn't tell me about you. Either way, it is nice to meet you." I felt some confidence stir up in me. I just felt this connection, and it felt like I could say anything to him. "Are you sure having a wife you know nothing about is smart? She could kill you in your sleep, you know." I watched as his smooth lips curled into a smirk, making him more dashing. God, he was so s*xy! How on earth did Mum bag him? I watched him as he turned his head to one of the maids who stood nearby, supposedly waiting for his next order. "You. Prepare a room for her on the third floor. Make sure it is comfortable." He turned back towards the stairs, and Mum and I followed him behind. "So tell me about yourself, Olivia. You have a beautiful name, I must say." I felt my cheeks get hot. I felt the butterflies in my stomach flutter madly. "Well, there wouldn't be much to say if only Nicole had told you about me sooner. I'm done with high school and taking a break year before I start college andโ€ฆ" There was not much about me, and my introduction ended after a few sentences. However, I was trapped by his captivating green eyes. More than once, his arm brushed mine, and I felt heated passion fill me up, just waiting to burst out. When I looked him in the face, I caught his eyes looking at my lips before looking back at me. This was torturous. And he was my stepfather! We finally reached the third floor, and Mum rushed to him, pushing me aside rudely. โ€œAlpha, I donโ€™t think Olivia should stay on the first floor. She has night terrors at times and might wake you if she stays on the same floor as you." I was stunned. What was Mum getting at?! What night terrors? On the bright side, Andrรฉ ignored her and disappeared into a room on the third floor. Mom turned and stared at me angrily. โ€œDo I need to remind you that you are here as a guest? You should know your place. I am still your mother whether you like it or not." I glared back at her with the same intensity, "Back off! I'm not the one who asked to be dragged here. That was all on you. You planned this with Dad.โ€ I took a deep breath, my anger coursing through every vein, โ€œAlso, I think you are the one who should know their place. You. Are. Not. My. Mum." I watched as her face changed into different shades of white. She gave me one furious glare and then headed down to the second floor. After a while, one of the maids walked up to me. "Miss Olivia, please follow me to your room. It is ready for you,โ€ she said with a small bow and led the way. I followed behind her and dragged my suitcase along with me. I still had my dad's ash jar firmly tucked under my arm, and I wondered if he was watching all of this. Soon, we stopped at a time just a few doors away from the room Alpha Andrรฉ had disappeared into. "Your room, Miss Olivia. Dinner will be ready in ten minutes. Please be ready. Here is the key. Do make yourself comfortable." The maid handed me the key and headed downstairs. I was left alone in the lobby. I took a deep breath and stared at the key in my hand. I was here; there was no turning back now. I slotted it into the keyhole and turned it, and with a click, it opened. Nothing could have prepared me for the sight I saw. My room was huge! There was enough space in here to throw a party. The walls were a beautiful pale pink, and a chandelier hung on the ceiling, elegantly flooding the room with light. The reading table was made out of smooth wood, and a laptop and detached keyboard were on it. I dropped my suitcase and walked over to the bed. The sheets were made of rich, smooth and soft silk, and the mattress was so comfy that it felt like I was sleeping on a cottony heap of clouds. โ€œOkay. I could get used to this.โ€ I got off the bed, took off my clothes and wrapped a towel around my body. I needed to have a quick shower before dinner. I smelled all sweaty. After the shower, I changed into something nicer and did my hair. The shower gel was expensive and exotic, and I smelled like wild peaches. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. "Miss Olivia, are you ready for dinner? The Alpha has requested that you eat with him." I was about to say something, but my stomach rumbled, cutting me off. "I will be down in a few minutes." The maid nodded and walked away, and in a few minutes, I was out of my room, heading downstairs. "Miss Olivia, where are you going?" I turned around and saw the maid who had called me for dinner. "I'm sorry. I'm looking for the dining room." The maid shook her head and smiled politely. "I'm sorry. I must have missed something while I was giving you the message. Dinner will be in the Alpha's personal room on the third floor." I stared at the maid with wide-open eyes. "What..?!" Chapter 3 Andrรฉโ€™s POV I smelled her even before the door opened, and my hands clenched around the chairโ€™s handle as Olivia entered my private quarters. Her body was tense, and she looked around curiously before her gaze settled on me. As though unnerved, she looked away immediately. How did the moon goddess create such perfection? To reward my waiting? I had spent more than twenty years waiting for my fated mate. For the one, the one that was made for me. Yet, there had been nothing. Eventually, I had settled for an arrangement for the pack's sake. But she was here now. And she was the best f**king thing I have laid my eyes on. โ€œWhereโ€™s Nicole?โ€ She squeaked, her voice barely audible. I would have missed it if all of my senses werenโ€™t focused on her. I wanted to know everything. I needed to take in her smile, her beautiful blue eyes that shone like the sea. f**k, I could already imagine running my hands through those large blond curls that fell over her shoulders. It took me some seconds to realise I hadnโ€™t answered her. Nicole. It had been relatively easy to tell that they didnโ€™t have the best relationship. Just now, when her mother had been there, she had been fierce and stubborn, like a fiery temptress. My temptress. โ€œNicole wonโ€™t be joining us,โ€ I replied and saw her wring her fingers together. Could she not feel it? Dinner went by slowly, and every now and then, Olivia would look up at me, her blue eyes probing and curious. I was dying to know her, too. But from what Nicoleโ€™s driver had reported, she had just lost her father. A part of me was tempted to stand up and close the distance between us. To wrap her in my arms and let her know she had me now. Nothing was going to hurt her. But I didnโ€™t want to scare her away. She was too important to me. I took a deep breath, calming my wolf that was pushing to claim his mate and my c0ck that was starting to react just from the thought of having Olivia in my arms. โ€˜Damn man, when did I get laid last?โ€™ I wasnโ€™t attracted to Nicole, but as my Luna, she had the most important thing I needed; she could handle matters very cleanly and made running the pack's internal affairs seem easy. Also, because of how hard she worked, it also meant that I had to give her a certain level of face here in my pack. Meetings outside the pack and checking over my company in the human world were among the few times that gave me a chance to get laid. I hadnโ€™t been to one in two months. That had to be why. โ€œIโ€™m done,โ€ Olivia said, her voice breaking through my thoughts and my spine straightened. I frowned as I looked at her plate and the dishes in front of her; although I had spaced out just now, it was not enough time for her to have eaten enough food. โ€œAre you uncomfortable?โ€ I asked, and she looked down, biting her lips. Damn. The very action sent some command to my c0ck, and I could feel it stirring in my pants. โ€œThereโ€™s nothing to be worried about; I wonโ€™t bite.โ€ That was a lie. I had every intention to bite. Especially with the way she was biting down on her lower lip. โ€œIf you donโ€™t like these, you can have dessert,โ€ I snapped my hands, and one of the kitchen staff walked out with a tray in his arm. I didnโ€™t like sweets, but I had instructed them to make them for her. I almost gave myself a back pat when her eyes brightened at the popsicles before her. When she picked one up, I realised just how large it was. Her small, pouty mouth was way too small for that. Entranced, I watched as my little mate placed the giant popsicle in her mouth, and as I had guessed, she could only lick from a small corner. A m0@n fell from her mouth as she tasted it, and every nerve in my body tightened. If she continued at this rate, I wasnโ€™t sure I could hold back from bending her over this table and claiming her as mine. โ€œCan your mouth take all of it in?โ€ I asked, and Oliviaโ€™s face flushed red, and she burst into a coughing fit. I shot up and rushed to her side without thinking. A move that I regretted because one whiff of her sweet floral scent was more than enough to bring me to my knees. My c0ck was hard, and my balls were heavy from being around and watching her. I moved behind the chair. I couldnโ€™t let her see just how hard I was for her. For my โ€˜stepdaughterโ€™ Olivia stood up, and my eyes followed her every move. Was she feeling the mate pull the way I was? I could never know if she did because right before I could say a word, Olivia dashed off. My dining room, the same place I had dined in for more than twenty years now, felt too big for my liking. Too empty. Did this affect my little mate? โ€œAlpha, we caught a maid about to report to Miss Nicole about the dinner,โ€ one of my assistants stepped into the dining room and reported. โ€œRemove all the unnecessary help on this floor.โ€ Nicole was nosy, and I wasnโ€™t ignorant of the fact that she had spent the last year trying to win over my staff. Unfortunately, her position was about to be vacant. My mate was here. Irritation bubbled in my throat as I remembered their relationship. That was one hell of a trick from the moon goddess. However, that didnโ€™t matter. Nothing could keep me from my Olivia. โ€œOlivia,โ€ I called out, testing her name, and when I couldnโ€™t hold it in anymore, I stood up, striding out of the dining room. I didnโ€™t want her to be away from me. She had barely eaten anything, but judging by how petite she was, I suspected that food was not on her list of favourite things. Chapter 4 Olivia's POV I ate in silence and stole glances at him. Sometimes, our eyes would meet and lock, and I'd turn away silently, though not without getting a lovely glance at his lips. I wanted to kiss them so badly. The way his lips moved as he chewed filled me with thoughts. I could only imagine how it would feel to have those lips kiss me and travel down, downโ€ฆ down. f**k! I took one hand off the table and placed it on my lap, gripping my dress tightly. I squeezed my legs and felt something wet on my thigh. "Keep it together, Olivia." I stopped eating for a brief moment, and I caught him licking the back of his spoon. I gasped as the sensations between my legs spiked. What was he doing to me? "I'm done." I put my spoon down and turned my head away, trying to hide my blush. The food was delicious but I couldn't eat anymore, not like this. I could feel my juices dripping down my legs. I had to excuse myself from the table. โ€œAre you uncomfortable?โ€ he asked, slowly putting down his spoon and gazing at me with those grey eyes. I shook my head. I couldn't dare open my mouth. m0@ns had replaced all words. I couldn't let them escape. โ€œThereโ€™s nothing to be worried about; I wonโ€™t bite.โ€ I wanted him to bite me, a love bite. I wanted to see red marks on my skin caused by his lips svcking every inch of me. Dessert soon came as he snapped his fingers, and the air was filled with a sweet, fruity scent. My eyes lit up. Popsicles! The waiter dropped the tray with them on the table and walked away. I helped myself to one. It was huge! My eyes washed over it slowly. I love sweets, but I wanted something sweeter. I tried to svck it all at once, but it was way too big for my mouth. I started from the corner and made my way down his big c0ck. f**k! Did I say 'c0ck'? It was too late. The image was already etched in my mind. svcking his c0ck slowly, feeling the sensations run down his spine as my tongue played with him. I began to m0@n softly as I svcked on the popsicle; my eyes closed with content. โ€œCan your mouth take all of it in?โ€ Andrรฉ asked. I looked up and found his eyes watching me keenly. Oh no! What if he knew I was thinking aboutโ€ฆ "Cough! Cough! I have toโ€ฆ cough!โ€ฆ go." I rushed out of his room and ran to mine. I bolted the door and walked to my bed. What had happened? I lay down and tried to calm myself down. "Deep breaths, Liv, deep breaths." I slipped my hand under my dress and felt my underwear. I was soaked through. I sighed. I needed to have a shower. I moved my hand slightly and grazed the tip of my bud. A m0@n escaped my lips, and I was immediately silent. The best idea was to take my hand out, shower and forget this whole debacle. I moved my hand, but I grazed my bud again. Another sigh escaped my lips. f**k it! I moved my fingers, lightly caressing my swollen bud. The sensations made me shiver. I wished these were Andrรฉ's fingers. My m0@ns grew louder. I could only imagine how amazing it would be for him to touch me, to caress me and kiss every inch of my skin. My hands undid my front zip and dove into my bosom. My nips were so hard. I wanted him to svck them. My fingers moved faster and suddenly plunged inside me. "Ahhhโ€ฆAndrรฉโ€ฆ!" His c0ck filled me up. I felt its girth as it touched the walls of my pu$$y. It was huge. He pulled out after a while and moved his lips closer to my face; his husky, deep voice filled my ears. "Are you sure you can take all of me?" I didn't even need to reply, and he penetrated me again. My body tensed up and gripped his hard c0ck tight. His thrvsts were slow and shallow. "Yes. Yes, please don't stop." He plunged deeper, and I grabbed the sheets. I was dazed yet still greedy. I wanted more. "Ahhhhโ€ฆAndrรฉ. I need more Andrรฉ. Please give me more." His tempo increased, and so did my m0@ns. His name was on my breath, his scent in my nostrils, his lips on my skin and his hands in my hair. My body squirmed desperately, and I felt myself tighten. I heard his voice in my ears. "Are you going to come for me?" "Yes, Andrรฉ. Please don't stop." The tempo picked up, and I m0@ned louder and harder. My face was flushed. My pu$$y was soaked, and I could hear sputtering sounds as he continued to f**k me deep. My legs trembled, and my voice could barely be heard. I gripped the sheets harder, pulling out from the side that they were tucked in neatly. My breathing became wheezy as the sensations shot up. His dรญck went harder and deeper inside me, filling me up perfectly. My legs felt numb. Any more, and I wouldโ€ฆ "Ahhhhhhhhโ€ฆ" My body jolted, and my juices poured out of my, streaming down my legs and soaking the bed. I felt my forehead and beads of sweat got stuck to my hand. My breathing slowed down, but my body jerked at irregular intervals as I still savoured the feeling of my 0rg@sm. "Would you cvm for me like that again?" I froze at the familiar voice, and when I raised my head and looked at the door. My body stiffened. Alpha Andrรฉ stood at my door. His hands were folded across his chest, and he had a smirk on his face. My eyes travelled down, and I saw the obvious bulge in his trousers. What the hell?
