Yes | 2024-10-20 19:45 | active | 1669 | 0 | Her groom ran away from wedding to pursue his first love. Heartbroken, she randomly found a disabled man who was also abandoned to get married. Unexpectedly, he turned out to be a billionaire! ===== Chapter 1 How About We Get Married? "Today is our wedding day! What am I supposed to do if you leave?" At the wedding, Elyse Lloyd was in a panic as she grabbed Theo Ward's wrist to stop him from leaving, her eyes filling with pleading. "Kaelyn knows about our wedding, and now she's threatening to jump off a building. You are aware of her depression, aren't you? I have to go save her." Theo explained impatiently and pushed Elyse aside. The venue was filled with the family and friends of both parties, all seated and waiting. The officiant had posed the question to Theo about his willingness to marry Elyse. Instead of replying, he ignored the officiant, answered his phone, and then abruptly attempted to leave. "Kaelyn Bennett totally stabbed you in the back before. She's caused you so much pain--why the heck must you go see her right now?" "You're not in a position to judge what happened between me and Kaelyn. No matter her wrongs or the pain she caused, you don't measure up to her." A pain struck Elyse's heart. "You're more concerned with your wedding than a living person's life. You're so heartless. Let's reschedule the wedding." Without a glance at her pale face, he strode away from the ornate altar, oblivious to the puzzled looks of gathered guests. Elyse cried out, sitting pitifully on the floor. She trembled, tears ruining her carefully applied makeup. The man she had loved for three years, disregarding her dignity, had chosen another woman without a second thought on their big day. He was consumed with thoughts of Kaelyn's distress but seemed indifferent to how lost and humiliated she felt, left alone at the altar. All around her, countless eyes watched, some mocking, some pitying, and others even gloating. Elyse had never felt such torment! Her father, Lanny Lloyd, approached. She hoped for comfort, but instead, he scolded her sharply, "You can't even keep a man. How useless!" After berating her, he left with his wife, Glenda Lloyd, without a backward glance. Her sister, Mabel Lloyd, emerged from the crowd with a smirk. "Well, that's embarrassing, Elyse. Your groom ran off, and now you're a laughingstock. I'm embarrassed for you. Imagine how Mom and Dad feel." After saying that, she turned and left. One by one, all of Elyse's family members departed, leaving her completely alone. Initially, Theo's parents felt guilty, but upon witnessing her family's reaction, all traces of guilt dissipated. "Even her own parents didn't support her. It seems this isn't entirely Theo's fault." "Yes, if she were a good partner, why would her fiancƩ leave her?" "Did she cheat on him? What else would make a groom leave like that?" The murmurs of criticism from the surrounding guests grew louder and harsher. Suddenly, there were noises nearby. Turning around, Elyse spotted a man in a suit sitting alone in a wheelchair. The officiant, looking flustered, asked, "Where is your bride?" Wiping away her tears, she halted a passing staff member and inquired, "That man is a groom, right? Where is his bride?" The staff member glanced at her and responded, "She didn't show up. I heard it was because she couldn't deal with her husband's disability." "And he's been waiting here all this time?" The staff member nodded. The wheelchair-bound groom was facing away from Elyse, and they were a fair distance apart. She couldn't see his expression, but she understood the pain of being left alone. They were both unfortunate souls, abandoned. After a moment of reflection, a determined look settled in Elyse's eyes. She had loved Theo for three years, but he had betrayed her. Why should she remain loyal to him? She realized she didn't need to be with him at all. As she suddenly stood up, the guests who had been whispering and mocking her fell silent. All eyes instinctively focused on her as she lifted the hem of her dress and confidently walked toward the man in the wheelchair. The sight of a bride in a white wedding dress approaching left the man's guests equally stunned. Hearing the rustle of her dress, the man in the wheelchair turned around slowly. Elyse halted and gazed at the handsome man before her, a spark of surprise in her eyes. She then extended her hand and said, "Hello, I heard you're in need of a bride. My groom just left me. How about we get married?" Chapter 2 What Was She Up To? "My name is Elyse Lloyd. If it's all right with you, we can get married today," she proposed confidently. Her bold proposal left the crowd in shock, prompting several to capture the moment with their phones. "Miss Lloyd, are you certain about this decision? Given my disability, I may not be able to provide the future you envision," the man replied openly, without hiding his condition, and gently urged her to think it over. "I've made up my mind," Elyse responded with determination. "I'm Jayden," he introduced himself. Seeing her resolve, Jayden Owen grasped her hand and shared his concern, "I fear you might regret this choice later on." Elyse chose not to respond. She was sure of her decision. She had once been solely focused on marrying Theo, who never truly reciprocated her love. Now, who she married seemed inconsequential. After efficiently wrapping up the wedding formalities at City Hall, Elyse and Jayden were now bound by matrimony, officially united as husband and wife. With the marriage certificate in hand, Elyse experienced a profound sense of relief. Theo had broken her heart, and she was resolute in never returning to him. Regarding her father, since she would not be marrying into the Ward family, he had another daughter to think about. She understood her little sister Mabel too well. As someone driven by greed, how could Mabel resist the temptation to become Theo's wife and a member of the Ward family? Thus, marrying Jayden was Elyse's perfect escape from her family's clutches. She had no intention of going back home again. While she gazed thoughtfully at the marriage certificate, Jayden asked, "What's on your mind? Regretting your decision to marry a disabled man?" Elyse shook her head, took hold of the wheelchair, and replied, "I think it was a good decision." Jayden smiled slightly, though his eyes betrayed a hint of skepticism and mistrust. How could any woman genuinely want to marry a disabled man? He figured she was just putting on an act--an act that couldn't last forever. He needed a bride momentarily to distract his family while he pursued his own goals. Well, he decided, he might as well see what she was up to. Elyse helped Jayden into the car, and they drove to his house. Jayden's home was opulent, complete with a garden and a swimming pool, and staffed with a butler in a tuxedo and uniformed maids. As Elyse stepped onto the plush wool carpet, she truly realized that her new husband was far from ordinary. The butler, Driscoll Lee, approached them respectfully and inquired, "Mr. Owen, is this your bride?" Surveying the opulent house and recollecting her newlywed husband's full name, a sudden realization dawned on Elyse. The Owens were the most influential family in town, and Jayden Owen was particularly notable among his peers for his business acumen and exceptional talent. He was one of the wealthiest men around. However, after a car accident a year ago that cost him his legs, Jayden had faded from the public eye and his prior achievements were largely forgotten. So, she had married the legendary Jayden Owen? Elyse recalled hearing rumors about his engagement to a girl from the Foster family. The bride who had disappeared on her wedding day was supposed to be that Foster girl. Upon hearing Jayden's full name at City Hall, Elyse hadn't dwelled on it much. If she had known his background sooner, she wouldn't have had the courage to broach the topic of marriage with him. Jayden noticed the shock and panic on her face but remained silent. He still doubted that she truly hadn't recognized him. After all, his disability was well known. "This is Elyse Lloyd, my wife. From now on, she will be the hostess here," Jayden introduced her firmly. "Joanna Foster escaped on our wedding day because she didn't want to marry a disabled man," he added bluntly. "Joanna Foster disappeared on the wedding day?" Driscoll expressed his surprise. The Foster family had been eager to forge a union with the Owen family through marriage, pushing for Jayden to marry Joanna. On the wedding day, however, the bride had disappeared. Wasn't this a deliberate humiliation of Jayden? Driscoll felt sympathy for him and offered some consolation, "Sir, perhaps it's for the best that she left. It seems you might have found the right person after all." Elyse had shown no concern for Jayden's disability and was willing to marry him. That indeed counted for something. Chapter 3 He Could Walk Fluidly Looking at Jayden's legs, Elyse felt a wave of sympathy for him. Jayden had once been at the pinnacle of success, and now he seemed so vulnerable. Just because he was disabled, his bride had callously abandoned him at the altar, showing him no respect whatsoever. He must have felt even more devastated than she did during the wedding. Approaching Jayden, Elyse took his hand and said earnestly, "Don't worry. We are husband and wife now. I will take care of you for the rest of our lives." Jayden's expression turned rigid. Could she really mean it, promising to take care of him for a lifetime? He doubted her sincerity, thinking she was just putting on an act of compassion. Without a word, Jayden maneuvered his wheelchair into the study on the first floor. "I'm sorry," Driscoll said apologetically. "Since his accident, he's been a bit more temperamental." "It's fine. I understand," Elyse replied, dismissing it with a wave of her hand. Anyone in his situation might change. She then followed Driscoll upstairs to a room on the second floor. -- "Sir." In the study stood a bald man named Vinny Bailey, clad in a tight black shirt that accentuated his prominent tendons. Respectfully, Vinny ignited a lighter and lit a cigar for Jayden. "Joanna has gone abroad. The Foster family is desperately trying to come up with a solution." "They've taken thirty million and five major projects from me. Is this their way of repaying me?" Jayden let out a puff of smoke and remarked casually, "If I don't teach them a lesson, others will see me as a pushover. The Fosters need to learn a few things." "Do you want us to bring Joanna back?" Vinny inquired, nodding. "And as for your new wife, should we make some introductions with our men?" "No need." Jayden, cigar clenched between his teeth, lifted a document from the desk and strolled over to the window. The wheelchair was tucked away in a corner of the room, ignored, as he moved fluidly across the floor. This document detailed Elyse's entire life, from her childhood through to her college life, even including her romance with Theo. He casually flipped through the pages and drawled, "An ordinary woman. She married me just for my money." Back then, the Owens had declared their search for a wife for Jayden, aiming simply to secure an heir. Upon the announcement, no wealthy family was eager to marry their daughter to him, except for the Fosters, who had enriched themselves through their daughters' marriage. The Fosters' motive was straightforward--to exchange their daughter for resources and money. Vinny saw no other reason for Elyse to marry Jayden but for financial gain. Yet, there was another twist. "She was originally going to marry Theo Ward." "Ward? The Ward family that's well-known?" Jayden lifted an eyebrow. "Yes. But apparently, the groom ran off to reunite with his ex-girlfriend after receiving a phone call." Vinny paused, then speculated, "Maybe she married you just to spite Theo Ward." Jayden ceased perusing the documents and glanced up at Vinny with a hint of annoyance. "You're looking at it too simplistically. By marrying me, she stands to gain more. That's the real reason she married me, despite my disability." In Jayden's eyes, Elyse hadn't yet revealed her true intentions. But he didn't mind her interest in his money. He needed a wife to appease his family. If she married him for gain, it would make a future divorce simpler for him. -- Perched on the edge of the bed, Elysee scrolled through her phone and noticed the trending topics. #Bridegroom Ran Away For His Ex #Bride Marries Stranger To Anger Her Ranaway Groom She casually scrolled through the comments. The public deemed the entire situation unbelievable and both parties' actions as unreasonable. Nevertheless, discussions had thrust Elyse's name into circulation because of it. Some even discovered she was a violinist in an orchestra and stumbled upon a video of her past performance. Unable to resist, Elyse was watching these videos when Theo called. "Where are you, Elyse? Let's meet and talk." Chapter 4 Who Were You Married To? As Elyse descended the stairs to the villa's entrance, Driscoll approached her with concern. "It's quite late. Where are you off to? Shall I arrange a car for you?" "No, thanks. I'll be back soon." Driscoll watched her depart before heading to the study. Elyse, having agreed to meet Theo, called a taxi and was soon en route. Fifteen minutes later, she entered a coffee shop and instantly noticed Theo, who was in high spirits, busy texting on his phone. A flicker of sarcasm crossed her eyes as she approached and sat across from him. Theo looked up, his expression souring. "Why are you so late? Do you have any idea how long I've been waiting?" Staring back at him, Elyse felt a chill. They had been together for a long time, yet he was always domineering toward her, a stark contrast to his demeanor with Kaelyn. She had once loved him, believing she could endure anything. Only today had she realized how foolish that was. If she didn't love herself, how could she expect anyone else to love her? "If you don't want to wait, you can leave," Elyse retorted icily. Theo, taken aback by her response, grew visibly more upset. "You're holding a grudge about what happened at the wedding, aren't you? I get why you're upset, but you can't be more understanding and reasonable? I left because Kaelyn was in dire straits--she was depressed and contemplating suicide." "You can go to anyone you want. You don't need to explain anything to me--I don't care anymore." Elyse found humor in his words. Theo couldn't believe she was indifferent. They had been together for three years, and everyone knew how deeply she loved him. He thought her claim of indifference was merely a result of anger. But he was confident he could easily resolve this. Just a few sweet words and she'd come back to him. "It's not a big deal. I came back to you after handling everything, didn't I? I'll visit your parents soon, and we can start planning the wedding again," Theo said. "No need for that." "What?" "There won't be a wedding." Elyse's face was devoid of emotion. "We're done." "Why are you still upset? I left at the wedding, but I came back for you. Can't you forgive me?" Theo frowned. "Forgive you? Forgive you for abandoning me for another woman?" Elyse slammed her hand on the table. "Do you have any idea what I've been through since you left? Your family has been calling me names, even though you were the one who left me at the altar--just for another woman!" "Elyse Lloyd!" Theo shouted her name furiously. "What others say is their issue. Isn't our three-year relationship strong enough for you to trust me?" "Three years, and yet you never forgot your ex," Elyse countered, her face marked by disappointment. "I believed we'd be together forever, but it seems three years was our limit. We're done, Theo. It's clear we're not suited for each other." While speaking, she retrieved a ring from her bag and set it down on the table--the same ring he had used to propose. She recalled the joy she felt that day, now overshadowed by her current despair. Elyse gave Theo one last look, mentally closing the chapter on their three years together. She grabbed her bag and departed without a backward glance. Theo was stunned. Was Elyse dumping him? He always saw her as a simp, her family reliant on his. How could she just walk away? Humiliated, he chased after her, grabbed her shoulder, and said forcefully, "You have no right to break things off! Remember, your father's business relies on me. Without me, your family has nothing. Come back, and we'll marry in a few days to make up for today!" "Let me go!" Elyse fought back fiercely and yelled with defiance and frustration, "I'm married. Stop bothering me!" "So what if you are married! You will always belong to me." After blurting that out, he froze and asked incredulously, "What did you say? You're married? Who to?" While he was momentarily dazed, Elyse wriggled free from his grip. She hadn't anticipated turning around to find Jayden sitting in a wheelchair quietly a few meters behind her. "Jayden!" she exclaimed. Chapter 5 You Can Stand? "Didn't I make it clear? I'm married. We're over. This is my husband," Elyse said as she quickly moved to Jayden's side, gripping his arm. Theo stared at Jayden, failing to recognize him. With a sneer, he said, "To get back at me, you married a disabled man?" He then extended his hand, commanding in a domineering tone, "Elyse, come here! I'll make it up to you when we get back." But Elyse looked at him as if he were a stranger. "Did you hear me? Come here!" Theo grew frustrated. Elyse reflected on how she would have responded in the past--she would definitely walk over to his side. She had loved him deeply for three years. Her feelings had been genuine. Yet, the depth of her affection made the betrayal harder to bear. On her first birthday after they got together, she wanted to celebrate it by the sea. To make her happy, Theo bought a camera, promising to capture beautiful photos of her. As they were about to board the plane for their trip to the seaside, Kaelyn was injured on a film set and called Theo. Without any hesitation, Theo left her stranded at the airport. It was the most disappointing birthday Elyse had ever experienced. Theo had once vowed to attend her debut performance with her orchestra, yet she ended up not seeing him there. She lingered in the hall all night, only to learn the next day that he had missed the performance because Kaelyn had become drunk at a dinner party while trying to land a role. He stayed because he was worried she might be taken advantage of. For three years, he had been Kaelyn's protector, but he had never offered Elyse the same safeguard. This accumulation of disappointments came to a head at the wedding. She knew she deserved love and respect, not neglect. "I am Jayden's wife now. I owe my loyalty to him," declared Elyse with a chill in her voice. "Elyse Lloyd!" Theo roared, enraged. He thought Elyse was merely being spiteful and fabricating things due to the day's incidents. As he tried to seize her hand, Jayden intervened, blocking him swiftly. Theo struggled to free his hand, but was unable to. He couldn't overpower a disabled man? The realization pissedhim off. "Release me!" Theo exploded with anger. "She has no desire to leave with you. Can't you understand?" Jayden pressed slowly, his force causing Theo's features to twist in distress. Jayden held on until Theo cried out in pain before releasing him. "Remember this day, Elyse. You'll regret it in the future!" With a hint of embarrassment, Theo glared at Elyse and stormed off after his declaration. Watching him leave, Elyse felt a bitter smile form within her. She knew Theo would not easily let go of being humiliated, but there was no turning back for them now. "Let's go home, Elyse." "Okay." After helping Jayden into the car, they both sat silently, gazing out the window and avoiding any mention of Theo. "How did you know I was out here?" Elyse asked, her curiosity piqued. Without turning to face her, Jayden replied, "Driscoll mentioned it wasn't safe for you to be alone at this hour, so I came to pick you up." In truth, he had suspected she was up to something secretive, but it turned out she was merely meeting her ex. This revelation left him slightly disappointed. "Since you've married me, you should sever ties with your ex. My family members are strict, and I can't cover for you if they find out you're still seeing another man." "I won't see him again. I met him just to return a ring," Elyse responded, nodding. Jayden said nothing more. As long as Elyse respected his boundaries, she was free to make her own choices. When they arrived home, Elyse noticed Jayden heading straight for the study again. Curious, she asked Driscoll, "Why is he always in the study?" "The study is not only his workplace, but it has also become a sanctuary for his soul," Driscoll explained. "And why doesn't he return to his room?" "He does sometimes, but we rarely know when. He prefers that we don't fuss over him too much." With that, Driscoll departed. After freshening up in her room, Elyse was preparing for bed, but her thoughts lingered on the day's events with Jayden. She realized that despite his reserved nature, he was genuinely concerned for her safety. Feeling grateful and wanting to express her thanks, she left her room and walked towards the study. As she approached, she noticed the door was slightly ajar, casting a sliver of light into the hallway. Elyse pushed the door open and to her surprise, saw Jayden standing. She gasped and asked, "Jayden, you can stand?" ==== "You need a bride, I need a groom. Why don't we get married?" Both abandoned at the altar, Elyse decided to tie the knot with the disabled stranger from the venue next door. Pitying his state, she vowed to spoil him once they were married. Little did she know that he was actually a powerful and healthy tycoon. Was Jayden's fake disability revealed just like that? What happens next? Yes | 2024-10-20 19:54 | active | 1669 | 0 | Read More š | "In three days, you will attend the Rejection Ceremony," my father said to me. I was Lily Bray, the omega illegitimate daughter of the Alpha. I was forced to reject my mate Matthew because my father wanted my sister to take my place to marry him. "I, Lily Bray, reject you, Matthew Hunter" I said. I could feel the mate bond fully snap, which hurt so much. "Now, you will be marrying Garrett Hunter." Said my father. Garrett The disfigured, rejected brother of Matthew? Haven't I suffered enough?! I felt like being offered up on a silver platter to a predator, at least I thought so until I meet him... CHAPTER 1 The Agreement Lily Bray stood in front of the mirror admiring herself. Her skin glowed from her previous run with the pups of the pack. Even though she was the daughter of the Alpha, she enjoyed helping out with the pups. 'You should wear the red dress,' Dina, her wolf, suggested. 'You're just being petty,' Lily replied as she looked at the dresses on her bed. The festive red would be the best choice since all her other dresses were too bright for the winter. She picked it up and looked at herself in the mirror. 'No, I'm not. Matthew said we look nice in red. We should wear it! It's also one of the colors in his pack,' Dina added. Lily smiled at the thought of wearing the colors of the Grey Blood Pack. She, of course, was going to be their Luna after the mating ceremony. The very thought of it made her blush. Who would've thought that she would be mated to a future Alpha? 'We deserve it, no matter our rank! Matthew doesn't care that we are an Omega, so we shouldn't care anymore either,' Dina said confidently, 'Put on the red dress.' Lily didn't need to be convinced as she quickly began to get dressed. She could hear the clicking of heels and immediately knew who it was before she heard the voice. "Lily, what's taking you so long?" Her sister, Brandy, yelled from outside her bedroom door. "Coming!" Lily quickly put on lip gloss and smoothed out the wrinkles in her festive red dress before rushing to the door. She opened it to see Brandy standing there looking uninterested as always. "Took you long enough," Brandy said. She looked her up and down and her eye twitched slightly before saying, "Cute dress." Anyone that didn't know Brandy would have thought she was complimenting Lily, but Lily knew better. Brandy disapproved of everything she wore and did. "You're just upset that you couldn't find the dress in your size," Lily retorted. She knew that Brandy was looking at the dress. It wasn't her finest moment to be so petty, but she found some satisfaction from it as Brandy always got what she wanted. Brandy replied with a scowl, "That dress is old news. I found one that was much better and more fitting for me." She walked past Lily, making sure to bump her with her shoulder. Lily resisted the urge to snarl. She would not let her ruin the evening. Brandy wore a low-cut black form-fitting dress with black heels. Her hair was pulled up high in a ponytail. She had blush on her cheek, and she wore bright red lipstick. 'She looks like a street walker and bad at that,' Dina commented. 'That's not nice,' Lily responded. 'It's the truth. You should hear what Mable says about you. Brandy can't even dress decently at home. Who is she flaunting for?' Dina countered. Dina never liked Brandy as she tormented Lily growing up. Everything had to be her way and if Lily resisted, Brandy made sure to hurt her in some way. As soon as Lily could shift, Dina made it her business to take a swipe at Brandy. Lily and Brandy entered the dining hall where her parents were. They were sipping wine and talking but stopped as soon as they entered. "Oh, you look so lovely!" her mother said to Brandy. Lily had to refrain from rolling her eyes as Brandy practically glowed from her mother's compliment. Brandy gave Lily a smug look before sitting next to their mother. Her mother gave Lily a momentary glance before saying, "Oh, Lily. You know, red isn't a good color for you, but at least you've been eating well at school. How are your studies going?" "I passed all my exams. Straight As again," Lily said happily. Lily sat down in front of Brandy, her mother, and her father. She thought it was odd that they were sitting across from her but pushed the thought out of her mind. Her mother casually remarked, "That's lovely, honey," before changing the subject as if concluding a formality. "Do you have that dress I mentioned, Brandy? The one in white?" "Yes, I did. I got it at a discount too. We had a credit once we returned the other dress," Brandy explained. Lily lost her enthusiasm when she understood that, yet again, no one was interested in what she had accomplished. She poured herself a glass of wine and downed it. Lily looked at her father, who seemed too busy to greet her while he was looking at his phone. 'Do not worry about them. We have mates now. They will be our family,' Dina said to cheer Lily up. Lily only had to look forward to returning to her dorm and the upcoming mating ceremony. She would be where she was wanted, with Matthew. Her mother and Brandy had been conversing when her father cleared his throat, drawing their attention to him. Her father said, "I am happy that you are doing well in your studies, Lily, but there won't be a need to go back in the Spring." "What do you mean?" Lily asked. "Now that you are mated, it is not a productive use of your time. You must get ready to be a devoted mate," Her father responded. "Well, I can do both. I have already worked it out. I will be able to attend Luna lessons during the day and school at night," Lily explained. She spent a lot of time and effort with the academic advisor to make that arrangement. "That money could be used for something else, like your sister's mating ceremony," her father proposed. "Brandy! You have a mate?! That's exciting! Why didn't you tell me? We can go dress shopping together!" Lily exclaimed happily. Brandy scoffed and said, "You won't need a dress. Daddy, just tell her already. This is just sad." "Tell me what?" Lily said, looking confused as she turned to look back at her father. "Tell me what, Dad?" "I had a discussion with Alpha Jack of the Grey Blood Pack. His son, Matthew, will become the new Alpha in a few months. His father and I have agreed that Matthew needs to have a strong mate by his side to lead the pack successfully," Lily's father explained, "And that is not you." Lily felt as if her whole world had been turned upside down. She didn't know if she wanted to scream or cry. How could they make this decision for her? "In three days, you will attend the rejection ceremony, and then in a week, you will have a mating ceremony with someone more on your level, his brother, Garrett Hunter." CHAPTER 2 You're an Omega Lily stared in horror at her father. She couldn't make sense of what he was saying. Why would Matthew reject her? When they talked on the phone all day, he never mentioned it. "You're joking," Lily said. "You have to be joking." Her father scowled at her because he disliked repeating himself. He paused for a moment to collect himself before saying, "This is no joke. You will be marrying Garrett Hunter." When Lily heard her father say those words, her heart sank. "I am his fated mate. We're meant to be together. Why would he want to reject me? There must be a mistake!" "Lily, you're an omega. No respectable Alpha would want you as their Luna. We're saving you the agony of having to deal with your mate having a mistress," her mother explained, "and it's not like you won't have a mate." "It's what you deserve, Lily. Garrett is perfect for you," Brandy said smugly. Garrett? Garrett Hunter The disfigured, rejected brother of Matthew? This had to be some sort of joke. They couldn't possibly be serious. But her parents were not laughing. Lily slid her seat back and stood up. She ran back to her room, slamming the door behind her. Brandy stood up to bring her back downstairs, but her mother stopped her. "Leave her alone. There is nowhere she can go. This is something she must accept," her mother stated. "Pick up the phone, Matthew. Come on!" Lily murmured as she dialed his number for the tenth time. It just rang again and again until it went to voicemail. Lily didn't bother leaving another voicemail because she had already left five. Lily sighed in frustration and tossed her phone to the floor before pacing the room. Why would her parents subject her to such cruelty? Wasn't it enough that they treated her like trash because she was an omega? But now they were going to take this away from her as well?! Lily nearly crashed into the wall to get to her phone when it buzzed on the bed. Her heart sank again when she realized it was Tiffany, not Matthew, calling. Lily answered the phone. "Hey girlie! It has been hours. What was the dinner about? Are youā¦" Tiffany started. Lily interjected and said, "Can I come over? I can't stay here. Please say yes." Hearing her tone, Tiffany became serious and asked, "What's wrong? Your sister is bothering you again?" "No. It's much worse. Please tell me I can come over," Lily pleaded. "Yes, you can come. I am not leaving for my parents' until tomorrow. Where are you? I can come to get you," Tiffany offered. "No. I will come to you," Lily said, "Thank you." She quickly hung up the phone. Lily went to her closet and grabbed an overnight bag. She yanked her dress off and changed into a t-shirt and workout pants. Lily then began packing items she didn't want to lose and enough clothes to get her through the holidays. She had no intention of coming back here. The door to her bedroom swung open, causing Lily to jump. She turned to see Mira, one of the omegas working in the kitchen. Mira placed her finger on her lips before she slowly closed the door behind her. "They told you," Mira said. It was more of a statement than a question. It made Lily sick to her stomach. Everyone had been smiling in her face. Did everyone but her know? It was humiliating that this was kept from her. "I was commanded not to tell you. I really wanted to." "It's fine, Mira. I know you wouldn't betray me," Lily responded. It would be physically impossible for Mira to go against a command. Perhaps if she were a Gamma or even a Beta, but as an Omega, the pain of it would have caused her wolf died, which would've ended her. "I won't let them force me," Lily declared. "I can't let them take one of the only things that have made me happy." Mira and Lily grew very close growing up. As they were both omegas and Lily was excluded from high-ranking wolf activities, she spent most of her time with Mira. Mira's father, the pack doctor, was the reason she wanted to become a doctor in the first place. "Then, let me help you," Mira said, "I can get you out of here. They planned to leave you alone for the rest of the weekend." "You can't. If they find outā¦" "They'll assume I helped you even if I didn't. I'll be beaten no matter what, but I won't die," Mira countered, interrupting her. "Dad is already outside with a car to take you wherever you want to go." Lily hugged Mira tightly. Mira smiled slightly, wanting to go with her, but she was bound to the pack grounds. Leaving or even going rogue would harm her father's position in the pack. She couldn't risk it. "Thank you, Mira," Lily said. Tiffany opened her front door to see Lily standing like a beat dog in her doorway. Lily waved to the car that drove away. Tiffany pulled her into her home and quickly closed the door. Lily immediately began sobbing uncontrollably. "Lily, what's going on? What happened?" Tiffany asked, leading her to the sofa. She had already prepared Lily's favorite meal as well as hot cocoa. "They are trying to force me into a rejection ceremony," Lily managed to say. "What? Why? They can't do that. It'd be spitting in the Goddess' face. You could end up cursed or worse," Tiffany exclaimed. "They don't care. They don't think I'd be a fit for him because I'm an omega," Lily stated. "That's not up to them. That's up to the Goddess, and the Goddess wants you and Matthew to be together," Tiffany stated. "They don't see it that way. Theyā¦" Lily stopped in mid sentence as a horrible pain gripped her chest. She gasped as she clutched her chest and tried to slow her breathing. "Lily? Is it one of your panic attacks?" Tiffany asked. Lily could only nod, unable to speak as she concentrated on breathing as the pain radiated through her. She suffered from panic attacks for a long time. Lily assumed it was because of stress. It would eventually fade, thanks to Dina's assistance. Lily gasped in relief as the pain began to fade, and she said, "I'm okay now." "You need to speak with Matthew. You two can elope, and they won't be able to do anything about it," "Elope?" CHAPTER 3 The Fated Mate's Betray "Are you sure you don't want me to come with you?" Tiffany asked as she walked Lily out of her apartment. She didn't want to leave her in such a terrible situation. "No, I need to do this alone," Lily answered with a weak smile. She couldn't get in contact with Matthew all night. Lily needed to speak with him. Whatever happened between her and Matthew, she would have to deal with it alone. Lily didn't want to get her too caught up in her family drama. "Well, you know where my spare key is," Tiffany said. "Don't worry about me. I'll be okay. Matthew and I will elope, and everything will be fine," Lily said. Tiffany smiled slightly, but Lily noticed that her eyes looked somewhat sad. She had known Tiffany long enough to know that she was holding back. Before Lily could ask Tiffany what she was thinking, Lily's cab arrived. Tiffany hugged her again and said, "Keep me updated. You know my parents will accept you with open arms. They said the offer is still open if you want to join my pack." Lily nodded and got into the cab. She waved goodbye before telling the cab driver, "10 Armstead Place." The cab driver nodded and drove off. The drive didn't take long. All the while, she could feel a stabbing pain in her chance. It was another anxiety attack. She had never felt so bad before. "Ma'am, are you okay?" the cab driver asked, noticing her distress. "Yes, I am fine. Thank you," Lily answered. "Just having a little panic attack, I think." 'It's the stress,' Dina said to her. 'I am doing everything I can to dull it. I can't reach Baldur. I don't know why he isn't responding to me. Do you think our father or maybe his father did something?' Baldur was Matthew's wolf. He was as happy as Dina when they learned that they were mates. As much as Lily and Matthew talked on the phone, Dina and Baldur communicated more telepathically. 'It could be. I can't believe it. I don't want to believe that Matthew would agree to this. Maybe he is cutting off all communication because he doesn't want anyone to find him. No one knows about his apartment in the city,' Lily responded. The city was a neutral zone for all supernatural creatures. Pack hierarchy or mutual dislike of different races wasn't tolerated here. The elders made it a point that all supernatural children grew up aware of others to squash any ignorance. It was a good idea in theory, but many outside factors were at play. People couldn't help but judge one another. "We're here," the cab driver said, bringing Lily out of her thoughts. She pulled out $40 from her wallet and said, "Keep the change." She got out of the car and rushed up the steps to Matthew's apartment. Lily had been there more than once over the weekend. Her family never knew when she was home, and she wanted to keep it that way. When it would get bad at home, Matthew was a reprieve for her as Lily didn't want to have to deal with her family any more than she had to. Lily quickly grabbed the spare key under the mat and opened the door. She stepped into his apartment, and the pain seemed to intensify. Lily gripped her chest and almost fell face-first into the carpet. She used the wall to move further into his apartment. There was a smell that she couldn't quite place. It made her hackles rise. She felt angry for no reason. 'Find him now,' Dina growled within her. 'What's wrong?' Lily asked, but Dina only responded with a growl. "Oh, Matthew, deeper! Oh, yes! Pull my hair!" An all-too-familiar voice broke the silence, and Lily could now hear the slapping of skin. As she approached his bedroom, it became increasingly louder. Lily swallowed hard as she tried to process what she was hearing and what she didn't want to believe was happening. Lily's hand shivered as she was about to place her hand on the door. 'We must see this,' Dina growled. 'Open the door.' Lily slowly pushed open the door. There in front of her was Brandy, her sister, on all knees, back arched, while her fated mate was thrusting in her with abandon. Brandy lifted her head and smirked at Lily. It finally clicked now. Matthew didn't answer his phone because he was with her. The anxiety attacks, the waves of pain were Matthew making love to her. Lily was almost catatonic as she watched the betrayal before her eyes. This was supposed to be her. She had waited years for him, and here he was doing it with this woman in front of her. "Oh, I'm coming," Matthew said as he released into Brandy. Brandy's eyes rolled in satisfaction as she bounced back against Matthew, milking him of every drop. Lily gripped the side of the door frame, her claws going straight through as she tried to compose herself. The sudden movement caused Matthew to look up. His eyes widened in surprise when he saw her. "Oh hello, sister. Did you enjoy the show?" Brandy mocked as Lily walked into the room. Lily said nothing as she approached Brandy. With all her might, Lily slapped Brandy hard enough to send her into the headboard. "You betch!" Brandy yelled as she gripped her head in pain. Lily slapped her again before Matthew caught her wrist. She used her other hand to slap Matthew across the face with strength she didn't know she had. Her claws left gashes on the side of his face. "Lily, what the heck?" Matthew exclaimed. "Don't ever speak to us, you filthy dog," Lily growled out. Her eyes were silver as it was Dina now talking. "All this time, you betrayed us for this witch!" "You have to understand, Lily. I didn't have a choice. Iā¦" "Enough of your lies! I will go through with the rejection ceremony. We can do it tonight because I want to be rid of you. I'll take whatever curse the Goddess dishes out!" Lily screamed before storming out, leaving the door wide open. CHAPTER4 The Rejection Ceremony "Don't you think that is inappropriate?" Kenneth asked his Luna from the doorway of their bedroom. "Not at all. It is a joyous occasion," Mandy said as she applied burgundy lipstick and stood up. She brushed the wrinkles out of her blue sweater dress as she looked herself over in the mirror before approaching him with a slight smile. "You should change. That suit is so depressing." "The suit is proper attire for the custom. You shouldn't take this much glee in her suffering," Kenneth responded, causing Mandy to frown. Mandy scoffed and said, "Don't try to act like you care about the little brat now. Don't be a hypocrite. You could care less and this arrangement will benefit the both of us." "At least make it believable in front of the Hunters," Kenneth reasoned. Mandy rolled her eyes. Of course she would behave. What kind of idiot did he take her for? "Come. You wouldn't want to keep Lily waiting," Mandy said condescendingly. Again, Kenneth didn't respond and followed Mandy to the entertainment hall. Both packs were in attendance. Both acknowledged their presence, showing their necks to them both. Alpha Jack and Luna Kelly looked agitated by the entire situation. The Luna of Grey Blood Pack was very against the rejection ceremony. However, she didn't have much say in the situation since both Alphas agreed to it. "Where is she?" Kenneth asked one of the omegas that were serving wine. "She is coming, my Alpha. We are watching her closely. There is no chance she will run away again," the omega answered. Kenneth nodded and walked to the stage with Jack following behind him. He took a spoon to his wine glass to get everyone's attention. "Thank you for joining us here tonight to celebrate the union of two great packs," Kenneth began and turned to Jack, "It is an honor that our packs will be united." "Yes, we look forward to our unified strength," Jack nodded. "Lily, Brandy, and Matthew Hunter, please come up here," Kenneth said. Brandy quickly came to greet her father. Kenneth frowned at her attire as he reluctantly hugged her. She was always scantily clad, even after telling her to dress appropriately for the occasion. 'Like mother, like daughter,' Kenneth's wolf, Jasper, said before growling in irritation at seeing Matthew. Kenneth had recently learned that Matthew had been sleeping with Brandy behind Lily's back. As a father and a believer of old customs, he wanted to choke him, but it was better this way. At least one of his daughters would be a proper Luna. 'We should tear his throat out for humiliating Lily,' Jasper growled. 'Calm down,' Kenneth told him. 'You're a pathetic father,' Jasper responded before blocking himself from Kenneth like he always did. After a few minutes, Lily did not show. Kenneth frowned and he spoke over the microphone, "Where is Lily? Bring her here!" He didn't need her defying him in front of both packs. This union had to happen. "I am here, father!" Matthew stood on the stage awkwardly. He didn't expect that both packs would be here for this. Matthew assumed that this would be a private affair, but he knew his mother had to have had a hand in this. Kelly had been horrified and disappointed in Matthew when she discovered that Matthew had been sleeping with Lily's little sister. No one in their line had ever denied the Moon Goddess' will up until now. The only thing that calmed her was that Lily would still marry into the pack. Matthew didn't really want to be mated with Brandy. He just wanted to have fun before he was forever bound to Lily. However, he understood why his father wanted him to mate Mandy instead. An Alpha had to be seen as strong. A weak Luna was a liability. He could not rule a pack with an omega Luna. 'It is not the right choice!' Baldur growled within him. 'Why did the Moon Goddess curse me to be bonded to you until death? She is meant for us! You know it!' 'There is nothing we can do now. It is done,' Matthew responded. 'You fool. You're going to regret this.' Baldur warned before Matthew suppressed him again like he always did when he didn't want to hear what he had to say. After Kenneth and his father Jack's speech, there was a pause as they waited for Lily to appear. She had not shown up, which infuriated Kenneth. As he demanded to know where Lily was, her voice rang out. "I am here, father!" Lily emerged from the crowd, taking Matthew's breath away. There were murmurs from the crowd as they watched Lily. She wore a simple form-fitting strapless white dress with an overlay of lace. Her hair was pulled up in a bun, and a white veil covered her face. Lily wore her wedding dress to the rejection ceremony. When she got to the stage, she hugged her father, ignored Mandy, and curtsied to Alpha Jack and Luna Kelly before taking her position in front of Matthew. Lily kept a calm expression, but Matthew could see the fury in Lily's eyes. "Lily, Iā¦" Matthew started, but she raised her hand, stopping him. Lily gave her hand to Jack and nodded to him. Jack smirked. This little female had sass. It was a shame that she was not an Alpha. Jack took the ceremonial blade and cut her palm. Matthew gave his hand to Kenneth, and he cut Matthew's hand. "I⦠Iā¦" Matthew stammered. He found that he could not bring himself to say the words. Everything in him told him it was wrong. "Father, I can't. Iā¦" "I, Lily Bray, the first-born daughter of Alpha Kenneth Bray, and my wolf, Dina, reject you, Matthew Hunter, the first-born son of Kenneth Hunter, and your wolf Baldur for your betrayal of our mate bond with my sister, Brandy," Lily said firmly as she grabbed Matthew's hand. "Do you accept?" CHAPTER 5 Engagement Night There were gasps and murmurs from the audience, as no female in history has willingly rejected their mate. It was such a scandalous affair as both sets of parents wanted to keep it hushed that Matthew had been cheating, which was partly why the rejection ceremony was happening. Lily wasn't having any of it. Appearances be doomed. They wanted to embarrass her publicly, so she wanted everyone to know the truth. "I⦠Matthew Hunter, the first-born son of Kenneth Hunterā¦accept your rejection," Matthew managed to say. As soon as the words left his mouth, he could feel their mate bond fully snap. Baldur howled in anguish within him as his bond with Dina snapped away even though he refused to accept the rejection. Lily fought the urge to collapse there on the stage. She welcomed the pain, embraced it as this was nothing compared to the anguish she felt over the betrayal. "I wish Matthew and Brandy well with their upcoming mating ceremony," Lily finally said. She turned to leave but was stopped by Brandy's grip on her wrist. "We accept your blessings dear sister. We hope to see you at our mating ceremony as I won't be able to go through with it if you aren't there by my side," Brandy said with a smug smile, wanting to see Lily lose her composure. Lily resisted the urge to scream at Brandy and punch her in the face. She kept her face calm and relaxed despite an eye twitch. Lily pulled her wrist free before grabbing her hand with her bloodied hand. Lily looked deep into Brandy's eyes trying to convey the hatred and anger she felt for her through her eyes. It didn't go unnoticed that Brandy stepped back due to the intensity of Lily's gaze. "Of course, Brandy. I wouldn't miss it for the world," Lily answered before removing her hand from hers. With another curtsy, Lily left the entertainment hall. She didn't collapse into tears until she reached her bedroom. "Dad! You can't be serious!" Lily exclaimed as she was dragged down the hallway by her father. After the rejection ceremony, Lily stayed in her room to mourn the loss of her mating bond for two days. She prayed and begged the Moon Goddess for forgiveness. Lily never wanted to do this, but she didn't have a choice. She couldn't be tied to an unfaithful mate for the rest of her life. On the second night, her father, Kenneth, kicked the door in to drag her out. Because Garrett didn't attend the rejection ceremony, Kenneth was hell-bent on Lily being bonded to Garrett immediately. After receiving a phone call that Garrett was back from a business trip and was staying at the Blueberry Suites, Kenneth knew that he had to get Lily to him. He forced her to go to the pack doctor to have every test done to show that she was still pure and genetically tested to show she had no defects before getting her ready to go to the hotel. "You shut up!" Kenneth exclaimed. "Do you know how your little stunt made us seem to the other packs?" "You look powerful and smart, right? That's what you wanted!" Lily snapped back and Kenneth slapped her. "You embarrassed us! You wore your wedding dress. You were supposed to be the regretful mate, not an over zealous harlot!" Kenneth raged. "Harlot? I'm the harlot? Of course, you wouldn't talk bad about your dear daughter Brandy," Lily retorted. Kenneth slapped her again and Lily growled in warning at him. "Don't you dare! You're not silly. You should have known better. No Alpha will want an Omega. Because of your antics, Brandy can't even use your dress. By ensuring your bond to Garrett, Alpha Jack promises to pay for everything," Kenneth retorted. "What about what I want? You got what you wanted! Brandy will be Matthew's Luna! Why must you do this to me? You could disown me. You could expel me from the pack!" Lily asked as she was brought to a door. She should've taken her friend up on her offer to go out of state with her for the holidays. Perhaps she would've been able to avoid all of this. "You made your decisions and I have made mine. Maybe if you hadn't tried to keep your money from me, this wouldn't be happening. Your little stunt didn't work," Kenneth sneered. "No! That money doesn't belong to you! I worked so hardā¦" "You have no say! You only received privileges because you are my daughter. You hold no value. You are a tool and nothing else. The quicker you understand that, the better off you'll be!" Kenneth snapped, cutting Lily off. He pried the jacket off his daughter, revealing her attire: a silky white camisole. "Hopefully, he'll teach you how to behave and know your place in the world." For the first time in her life, she wanted to physically harm her father. Lily wanted to shift and maul her father, but she was still too weak from the broken mate bond. She was helpless as Kenneth opened the door to the room and shoved her inside, causing her to fall hard on her butt. Her father slammed the door in her face, locking it behind him. Lily beat on the door when she realized she couldn't open it. 'Calm down Lily. Let's see if there is another way we can get out,' Dina said. Lily nodded and began to explore the room. The room was decorated with honey hues, for they gave a sense of home away from home, of a place of nurturing safety. However, Lily didn't feel safe at all. She felt like her whole world had been turned upside down. Tonight was her engagement night as her father explained it. It was more like she was being offered up on a silver platter to a predator. When she realized the windows were locked and couldn't break them, Lily quickly turned the lights off and sat down on the bed. The room was now pitch black and eerily quiet. The only sound that could be heard was the fan that was hiding Lily's rapid breathing. Lily lay stiffly on the bed, feeling like her body was under a spell. She was unable to move. Lily heard the door opening, and light entered the room, blinding her for a moment. She closed her eyes in fright, afraid of what would happen next. CHAPTER 6 The Rumors Fear. Betrayal. Sadness. This was not what he expected. 'Am I in the right room?' Garrett thought as he entered the room slowly. Rumors were that Lily was no better than her sister Brandy that she too had stepped out on the mate bond. It made Garrett's skin crawl as he realized he had no choice but to be tied to this woman. So, he was shocked to feel how apprehensive she was towards him. A woman like that would be afraid of him. She would be excited to see him. He half expected to be pounced on. However, the reality was that he was faced with a she-wolf that did not want anything to do with him. "What have I said about involving me in your affairs?" Garrett growled into his phone after his father told him of the alliance with the Blue Creek Pack. "You already have what you wanted. Leave me out of it." "Do you really think you have a say in anything pup? You are still on my terf. You will do as I command you to," Alpha Jack responded nonchalantly which caused Garrett to become angrier. "You pompousā¦" Garrett stopped in mid sentence to compose himself. After taking a breath, he continued. "I did not agree to this. I told you to not interfere in my life! "I am your father, your Alpha even though you want to deny it. It is within my right to do what is best for you. But, by all means, leave. Denounce yourself from the pack," Alpha Jack stated smugly. "But, let me remind you that that would mean we will be going to court as 80% of all your businesses are partly owned by the pack." "What are you on, old man? Every business deal I made was with my own money. I made sure of that," Garrett responded. "Check with your accountant. I own you and you will do what I tell you boy!" Alpha Jack declared while chuckling. Garrett swiftly hung up, fired his accountant, and began his research as he never went into a business arrangement without knowing who his partner was. To say he was disgusted would have been an understatement. This was not an alliance for power. It was an alliance for money. Alpha Kenneth Bray was a deplorable man for more reasons than he could count and all of this started because he was short on money. His youngest daughter, Brandy's, gambling addiction had gotten out of hand and he spent almost his entire fortune paying off Brandy's debt. Kenneth took a loan from a loan shark and now, the loan shark wanted to collect. Kenneth had to repay with interest on money he didn't have. And if he did now, the loan shark would take ownership of his businesses and land. This would lead to so many issues, so Kenneth came up with the idea to persuade Alpha Jack to choose Brandy over Lily as the new Luna. It almost didn't work as Alpha Jack didn't care about Lily not being an Alpha; however, after finding out Brandy was carrying Matthew's pup, Jack agreed to it. 'Perhaps the rumors were not true,' Berric, Garrett's wolf, said. 'Perhaps,' Garrett agreed as he could see the trembling form in bed. He couldn't see her face as she was hiding underneath the quilt. Garrett lifted the quilt off her slowly. He caressed her arm, noticing the bruises, but Lily shrank away from his touch. When he attempted to touch her again, Lily slapped his hand away. "You⦠you could at least introduce yourself," Lily stammered out. Garrett chuckled before removing his hand and said, "I am Garrett, but you already know that. Are you afraid, Lily?" His voice was low and husky. If she were in a different situation, Lily would have thought his voice sounded good. But in her current state of high mental tension, he sounds like a monster. "Yes, I am a little scared, but I can get past it," Lily responded with a nod as she trembled in fear. "I'll turn on the light. Maybe that will help," Garrett suggested. He leaned to the left to touch the switch on the wall, but Lily grabbed his hand tightly. "Don't..." Lily begged. She didn't think it would make it better. She was already nervous, as is. If he genuinely was disgusting to look at, Lily didn't think she could go through with this. Garrett remained still for a while before moving closer to Lily on the bed. He began stroking the side of her face. Garrett then cupped her face lovingly as he tried to ease her fear. "Sir, it's my first time. Can you be gentle?" Lily asked humbly. "Seriously?" Garrett responded in disbelief. "Why is that so shocking? I wanted to wait until marriage," Lily snapped, overcoming the fear for a moment as she was slightly offended. However, her fear came back with full force as she felt Garrett's hand shifting from her face. Garrett's fingers went down from checks to her slender neck, over her collarbone, and drifted over her chest. He leaned forward with his nose in the crook of her neck. Garrett inhaled and his eyes widened in shock. 'She's telling the truth!' Berric exclaimed in a happy yip. Lily sucked in her breath as she became stiff toward Garrett's touch. Her hands clenched the sheets as if she was going to rip through them. She began to focus on her breathing to keep from hyperventilating. "Do you know what it means to lie here with me tonight?" Garrett questioned. "It means I'm... yours from now on," Lily answered softly. Garrett chuckled again and said, "You don't have to treat yourself like an object, especially since I am not trying to do that." Lily didn't know what to say to that and remained quiet. This clearly was a transactional situation. She didn't expect love or anything else from him. "I need a wife, not a plaything. You need money. We can help each other," Garrett continued while he held her hand tightly. CHAPTER 7 Second Chance Mate "I don't need money. My father needs money," Lily muttered under her breath. "What did you say?" Garrett asked. He clearly heard her and was surprised by her brazenness. "Nothing," Lily replied weakly. Lily wanted to tell him no, tell him that he was ruining her life, and tell him that she did not need money. It was her family. She had never experienced something so shameful as her experiences before tonight. Lily wanted to reject him, but where would that leave her and her family? "I wanted to apologize for what my brother did to you. I don't know why my parents agreed to this," Garrett remarked in a light tone. He had no desire at all for her to be embarrassed in such a manner. Garrett just wanted to know if she was untouched. He knew a thorough physical examination occurred but it was so easy for results to be fabricated. Smelling her, confirmed for him that there was no question. Lily was untouch. When Lily recalled being poked and prodded by the pack doctor and the pity she felt from him, she felt a chill run down her spine. All the questions that were asked still made her blush in embarrassment. She concluded that Garrett, not his mother and father, was the one who wanted this. It shocked her to hear otherwise. Lily whispered her response, "It's all right." There was nothing she could do to defend herself. She couldn't complain because she knew her family needed the money, and why not be bound to him? Lily had already lost her mate and her family didn't want her. Nothing mattered. Lily merely wished this man did not turn out to be some sort of pervert. "All I ask is that you be gentle." 'This is wrong. She is in so much pain. I can hear her wolf crying. Your brother is a scum,' Berric, Garrett's wolf, said to him. He was intrigued by Lily's smell. He couldn't quite place the scent, but as soon as he saw her, he knew that couldn't go through with rush mating with her. Lily was still healing mentally. Lily withdrew her hand from his and stopped putting up a fight. She anticipated he would ravage her within the next second after he had already sprung upon her. However, she was surprised when Garrett covered her with a blanket. Lily questioned, "What's the matter?" "You wanted to wait until marriage. So, we will wait. When you're ready, we can continue," Garrett answered and exited the room. As quickly as she could, Lily switched on the light since she had no idea if Garrett was teasing her or not. She had the intention of following him, but she didn't have the courage to do so. The only thing left of the man was his strong cologne. The back of a chair close to the door was covered in a dress and Lily's jacket. She waited for a little over ten minutes to make sure that Garrett hadn't changed his mind. After hastily putting on her clothes, Lily exited the room. She entered the elevator, ready to head to Tiffany's house. Lily couldn't go home. 'I'll just have my belongings delivered there. That way I won't have to face them,' she thought. Unexpectedly, when the elevator doors opened, there was a huge group of reporters standing outside the entrance, waiting for her to appear. The sight of it made Lily's face go pale. Her image was going to be plastered all over the latest headlines. 'So much for word not spreading', Lily thought. The flashing lights all landed on her at the same time, and the microphone was so near that it was almost touching her face. Lily covered her eyes with her hands until they diverted the light away from her face. A reporter questioned in an aggressive manner, "We received a tip that you and Garrett Hunter, the second son of the Grey Blood Pack, are engaged. Is this true?" Another reporter inquired, "Where is Garrett Hunter, and why didn't he come out with you?" A third reporter approached Lily and asked, "You are here alone. Was Garrett disappointed in bed?" This question was so disrespectful that Lily couldn't help but glare at the third reporter. It was common knowledge that Garrett was an unattractive man with little interest in finding his mate. People assumed it was due to some disability. When Lily attempted to go back inside the elevator, she discovered that she could not reach the button to get the elevator door to open. Cornered, she had no choice but to respond to their inquiries. The Hunter family was deeply involved in various political activities. By sending the reporters to this location, someone was obviously trying to target Garrett and put the Hunter family and their pack in a negative light. 'I have to be careful with what I say.' Lily reasoned to herself, 'I absolutely cannot botch this, or it will be all over the gossip magazines in the morning.' The action that was taking place outside of the hotel could be seen clearly from a car that was parked directly across the street from the hotel. The driver watched the event play out before dialing someone on his cell phone. The driver said, "Sir, it seems someone released information about your movements tonight. Do you want me to handle it?" The individual on the other end of the line said, "Yes. Don't scare her." Right at the moment when the driver stepped out of the car and began to walk across the street, Lily proceeded to confront the reporters. She quickly put on a calm demeanor and smiled at them. Lily clarified, "Garrett had something to do, so he left first and let me rest. I couldn't get out of bed right after because my legs were so weak." The reporters were shocked by Lily's forthrightness, as they had not anticipated receiving this response. It was almost to the point of obscenity, yet classily done. "Then, Ms. Bray, the rumors regarding the appearance of Mr. Hunter, is it true that he is..." another reporter continued, but Lily swiftly cut him off. "My fiance is naturally the most handsome wolf in the world, but have any of you seen his genuine face? My mate prefers to keep a low profile, and I am amazed that representatives of respected companies would stoop so low as to believe in unsubstantiated rumors," Lily chastised. "So, publish this. Ladies don't believe rumors; find out for yourself. You might miss out on a man who has a huge heart and will do anything for you." Nobody would have thought Lily was being coerced into a marriage after she enthusiastically spoke of "her fiance." In any case, considering that no one had ever seen the real Garrett, there was no one who could dispute what she said about him. "Well, then that must mean you get around, Ms. Bray. You mated with Matthew Hunter no more than two days ago. You rejected him, and now you are engaged to Garrett Hunter. How could the Grey Blood Pack want such a promiscuous female in their pack?" one of the reporters said. | INSTALL_MOBILE_APP | http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.z | LunaNovel | https://www.facebook.com/61558678536937/ | 56 | 0 | 0 | 1969-12-31 18:00 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | Install now | 0 | play.google.com | VIDEO | http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zhangyue.read.ireaderpor | 1969-12-31 18:00 | https://scontent-iad3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/463878651_1088703138981182_771773850884093592_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_s60x60&_nc_cat=108&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=boARc9axJ4IQ7kNvgF2EpZ-&_nc_zt=14&_nc_ht=scontent-iad3-1.xx&_nc_gid=Ao84V4V8FBH3k6Nj6bxsHgr&oh=00_AYCSLxgn4Nj5ACWVGaY7tO2vTliILWb-vzPKtxKKROQ8ug&oe=671B8222 | PERSON_PROFILE | 0 | 0 | 0 | LunaNovel | 0 | 0 | 1969-12-31 18:00 | View Edit Delete | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

ššone click to continue FREE readingš | Allisonās POV. Tears laced my eyes, the image in front of me was too hard for me to believe, yet it was all there, staring at me right in the face. "I never wanted you, Allison. Youāre cursed. Your hair is Red. Your eyes are too Red . Like a witch, who wants to mate with someone like that?" If it were the tons, the crowd, the people of the pack, the words would never hurt. I had grown too tough for their words to hurt. But it was Merlin, the man I wanted to marry, the man I had his ring right in my pocket, about to propose to. "It has always been your sister. It has always been Arya. It has never and would never be you." He spat to my face, closing the distance between us, "so before I disgrace you, give your blessings immediately." He urged, his eyes turning pitch green. *** TEN MINUTES EARLIER. "Dirtbag." "Look at how hideous she looks." "Canāt she dye her hair or do something to it?" "Why is she allowed to even attend? She brings bad omen anywhere she goes. Move away from her, Alice. Sheās bad for you." I donāt care about the opinions of irrelevant people. My gaze was fixed on the five-tier cake in the middle of the hall, and the luxurious decorations in every corner of the room. Even the champagne glasses were intentionally adorned with her smiling face. It formed a stark contrast with the convenience store cake they hurriedly bought out of pity for my birthday. I clenched my fists bitterly, striving not to let my expression show. Twenty years have passed, and Iām still treated the same way, as if I had never come out of their wombs. Twenty years, and even a fool would know that I can never compare to the outstanding treatment she receives. On my own birthday, the only thing they did was prepare a cake, and it wasnāt until late at night that they remembered to bring the cake and even wish me a happy birthday. A sharp pain shot through my head and throat. Red, the color most hated by the wolf pack, because the witches have brought so much disaster to the pack. Unfortunately, I bear the mark of a witch, which puzzles me. My parents and my sister have black-brown hair, but my hair, including my eyeballs, is a fiery red color. Especially at the moment of my birth, the pack suffered a massive downpour that destroyed everyoneās homes and food supplies. Since then, the curse has become my nickname. "So you should live quietly in the pack with a grateful attitude, like a mute." For twenty years, Iāve been taught that I must live like a rat, unseen by the pack. But I havenāt submitted. I still fight back against the injustice I face. The reason I dare to do so is that once when I was pushed down, I chose to cry instead of getting back up and fighting back. That time, I received an angry whipping from my father. I think even though my father dislikes me, he dislikes having a weak daughter even more. Although he ignores the harm done to me, he hates weakness even more. But today I have more important things to do. I touched the ring in my pocket again, and my steps quickened. A familiar shrill, caustic voice rang out, and then a beautifully dressed girl, looking like a Barbie doll in a princess gown, pushed me. "And if you even wanted to show up badly, could you not have found something to cover all of this! Must you always embarrass me!" She harshed out in between gritted teeth, her eyes wide open. Lest I forget, my name is Allison, the red haired and eyes of the pack, second daughter of the Alpha and Luna whom I have never for once called father or mother because it was an abomination for me to do so. I was not a blessing. I was not a child. I was not a person. I was a curse. She yanked my tank top down, trying to cover the cursed mark that has made me everyone treat me like a rogue instead of a princess, her finger dangling in front of my face, "You better find something else to wear, and find a head wrap to that red hair of yours unless Iāll finally be cutting everything away tonight." She strode away after one more glaring look, my eyes following her until she finally disappeared before downing the last of my drink. I dropped the glass to the tray of one of the waiters, wiping my mouth with the back of my hand as my eyes rounded the entire room again. The sight of all the golden hair, the purple hair, the brown hair made my stomach churn with bitterness and jealousy. When I was very young, I would pray to be one of them. Red hair was a curse to the pack, and my head was a symbol of the curse I bore. I would cry in my room to miraculously wake up one day and have it gone, to have my eyeball be normal just like everyone, to have the stupid long mark that stretched from one end of my stomach to the other end disappear. All to just be normal. But now I was past all of those stages, and tonight was going to be the end of everything bad and the beginning of a new thing for me. And as my feet moved, I had just one person to find in mind, my lover, and my boyfriend. Whom I was going to propose to tonight. Despite the clusters of people all around, one thing my curse made easy for me was moving swiftly. They parted for me, none of them wanting my hand or body to come in contact with theirs. I climbed the stairs quickly, my heart racing and beating wildly in my chest. Merlin was the first man to look at me differently. The first man to not care whether my eyes were pitch red or my hair was too red for the pack. He was the only man that touched me and wonāt have disgust in his eyes. The man I want to spend the rest of my life with. My parents were planning to send me out of the house tomorrow, it was a piece of information I had stumbled on without their knowledge, and before they could do that, I was planning to get married to Merlin. We were in love, and Iāve been discussing it with him. It was bound to happen anyway, I was just speeding it along. "Merlin!" I called out, opening another door. I was just about to open another door when my eyes caught a whiff of his curly golden hair, turning back to see if it was him. A smile lit up the corners of my lips as I moved towards him, about to utter his name when my feet halted, the sight in front of me causing all the music to die down. My heart tightened in my chest, my lungs unable to take in any more air. "Merlin... my significant other... I finally found you," she continued to says. "Yes, Arya, I never dreamed that a princess as beautiful as you would be my significant other. I thought Alison was my best choice. But I was wrong..." "You know, I really want Alison to see this now. Her face will definitely be as red as her hair." Alia smiled evilly. I couldnāt bear it any longer. "Youā¦youāre mates.." I uttered, both of their heads snapping towards me instantly. A tear slid down my eyes, my lips quivering so bad as my eyes met with Merlinās deep green own. "What are you doing here?" He growled, dropping Aryaās arm. "Youā¦youāre mates.." I repeated, unable to keep that realization from my head. "What are you doing here, Allison!" He growled again, rushing towards me and immediately slamming my back to the wall. More tears dropped from my eyes, rolling down my cheeks. The man I was supposed to marry, my own man⦠"Do you think we had anything going?" He scoffed out, releasing his grip on me. "I told you babe, you should have cut it off immediately. Now youāve given her false hope, thinking that a cruel useless being like her is deserving of love. Urgh, poor Allison.." I heard Arya mock. "I never wanted you, Allison. Youāre cursed. Your hair is Red . Your eyes are too Red. Who wants to mate with someone like that?" "Such a delusional girl." Arya added, the mockery in her voice evident. The minute that statement left her mouth, my wolf growled within me, anger consuming me entirely. My claws elongated, catching Merlin off guard as I used my entire energy to push him away. I was just about to claw her face, so close to the fear that was evident in her widened eyes when I felt a force from my back, pushing me to the ground. "Are you out of your mind!" My mother yelled out. "Get up." The alpha, my father said. I ignored all the pain oozing out of every part of my body, picking myself up,trying my hardest to stifle the rumble of anger coursing through me as I stood up, facing the three of them. "Your sister is mated to Merlin. They are mates, and in no nonsense of yours should you try anything stupid." "Anything stupidā¦" I uttered, my voice breaking as hot tears filled my eyes. "He wasā¦we were.. "Thatās none of my business, if you had not been a bad woman, things would not be this way.." "Fat.. A hot slap landed on my cheeks instantly, "I am not your father." He growled at me. "Now, offer your blessings to them before I throw you out of my pack and you donāt want to dare me." I looked up at him, anger clouding my judgment and making me say words I wished never left for my mouth because of what happened next. I looked him in the eye, my red orbs a stark contrast to his brown orbs, snarled at him before saying, "And what if I donāt?" ALLISONāS POV. Saying those words to my father did not end well for me at all. Two hot slaps to my face, plenty kicks to my stomach and not to talk of the ridicule and embarrassment he put me through. I downed the third bottle, the tears that were threatening to spill burning at the back of my throat. My chest was physically hurting and also internally hurting. In one night, the night I had thought everything would change, everything has gone from changing to a more wrecking disaster. After my father got his fill with me, he made me bless the union of my sister and my boyfriend, the words I hated myself so bad for saying ringing in my head, making me clench the bottle in my hand harder. "I, Allison Stark, bless the union of both of you, and wish you a happy life." Why? Why was the moon goddess cruel to me? Why was the world entirely cruel to me? I blinked at the same time I sniffed, the tears getting their way out as another batch rose in my lids. My fatherās words rang in my head, the situation I had tried so hard to avoid finally in my front. "Tomorrow youāll partake in the Wolfās king bridal ceremony. I have no freaking use for a curse like you. All you do is take more and more out of us and you give us nothing in return!" The wolfās kingās bridal ceremony was an event hosted for the most cruel wolf in the world. The alpha of all alphas, king of the entire wolf community and it was always a bloody ceremony. The ceremony was just for him picking his new sleep-buddies, women, degraded to nothing but that. I massaged my throat where my fatherās fingerprint lied, "and if you dare.." he had said, "if you dare try to do anything funny, I will kill you, Allison, youāve never been my daughter and I have never cared for you, I wonāt start caring now." He spat before they all turned to leave. I remembered watching Merlin intertwine his hands with Arya, asking her if sheās okay, kissing her cheeks the same way he used to kiss mine. The memory was all too hot, too painful. He was the one thing I thought I had in this world, in this cruel cruel wolf world. And he was gone. Just like that. He was gone. And I was alone. Again. "Hmmā¦" I sobbed quietly, drinking more and more of the alcohol. I had no idea if it was the rush from downing the alcohol or something else but my stomach churned almost immediately, my bum leaving the chair as I rushed to the toilet, spilling my guts into the sink. A strong scent wafted into my nose the same time a strong hand touched my back. Everything in my body became heightened, my wolf whining in my head. I looked up to the mirror to see a set of golden orbs looking straight back at me, his gaze deep with a desire. "You⦠"Mate!" My wolf rang in my head. I stared at him through the mirror, unable to take my eyes off him. His hair was neat, a part of it falling to his face to cover one of his eyes. His jaw was tense and strong, his lips pursed and tightly closed. His aura was suffocating, strong and filled with something we both needed. I gulped down, ignoring every alarm bell ringing in my head as I turned to look at him. His hand that was resting on my back slipped but I could still feel his print there. "Who are.. He didnāt allow me to finish as he crashed his lips on mine, biting hard on my lower lip and gaining entrance to my mouth. It must be the mate bond because every part of my body went on fire the minute his tongue locked with mine, kissing him back fiercely. His scent was stronger, filling me in, urging my desires more and more. He lifted me up with just a scoop and I swear when he opened the toilet door the bar was already very quiet. His hand roamed around my body, touching every part of me and arousing every hair on my skin. He dropped me to the bed, how we got there I had no idea. I was hot and wild. I had no idea who this man was, the only thing calming me down was that he was my mate and he desired me as much as I also desired him at the moment. The minute his trouser went down and he climbed back to the bed, "whatās your name?" His deep voice hushed around my ear, his tongue taking a swipe around my ear that made my back arch. "Please.." "Tell me your name and Iāll continue this. You belong to me now. I want you. Tell me.. "Allison." I cut him off. "Youāre mine now." Those were the last words we said to each other as his teeth sank down to my neck, and the night went down in insatiable rage and desire for each other. *** I was the first to wake up the next morning, my eyes opening to an extremely dark room. I stood up and made my way to the bathroom, hoping to relieve myself when I saw it, the mark on my neck, the one I could see right in the mirror staring at me. My heart dropped down to my stomach, my body tensing instantly. Fear crawled down my spine as I immediately started scratching the part, "no..noā¦noā¦this canāt be.." I muttered to myself, panic lacing every action of mine. I knew this mark too well. I have read and read on it. It was the mark only wolf king could give. A bite that was different from the rest, showing that their Luna and mate is different from the rest. "No..no.." I donāt want a life with a wolf king. To be subjected to such torture, such life where I would be nothing but a mere slave and a mere Luna. I rushed out, finding my clothes hastily as I wore them. "I need to leave. I need to leave. I need to run. I need to leave. I need to get out. Iā¦" I kept muttering the words to myself, trying to quickly figure everything out. I was on my way out the door when I saw a black wallet on the night stand. My hand grabbed it, opened it and my eyes widened at the wads of cash laying there. "I..Allison..reject whatever your name is. I canāt be your luna. And Iām very sorry." I was going to leave here, I was going to run from the wolf world and start another for myself. I approached him carefully, counting my steps not to wake him up. My wolf whined sadly as I leaned and pecked his forehead, gulping down painfully. "I just canāt.." I muttered. I counted my steps out of the room, evading quietly. I didnāt look back until I got to the pack border where I took a long last look at the place where I had grown up to hate. One day. One day when Iām better, Iāll come back and burn everyone who did me wrong to the ground. DANIEL(ALPHA KINGāS POV) I was boiling with rage, my hand on my feet as I repeatedly kept tapping on the foot of the chair. Allison. Allison. Allison. That was what my mateās name sounded like. That was what her parents named her. I was furious and at the same time mesmerized by her actions. After a played night with me, she didnāt only have the effrontery to run away but she still picked up my wallet, my entire cash I had brought on this trip, not that I couldnāt get more but she still had to take it all and run off. A laugh found its way out of my throat as the corners of my lips tugged up. I couldnāt wait to see her and fit her under my shoulder and take her home. I could not remember anything she looked like, or sounded like. The only time I heard her voice was when she told me her name. Like how her hair was pitch redb and the mark on her stomach. "Your highness, weāre here." My beta, Kai announced. I looked outside the car to find people standing there, people in her pack, or probably her parents. In the search that my beta, Kai did, he found out she was the second daughter of their pack, and for some weird reason people of the pack donāt like her. I was still searching all of them when my eyes fell on a particular black haired, my eyes squinting at the shaking and trembling of her hands. A smile lit up my lips. Of course, she had to be scared. She stole from me and also ran off. Seeing her standing there made my heart rumble, something that wasnāt supposed to happen. I shoved the rest of the audacious smile down my throat, stepping out of the car. "You fancy her, donāt you?" The smug voice of my wolf sounded in my head. "Donāt hope too much. I donāt want anything to do with her." "Words of a liar." My wolf added, a little whine before his voice totally disappeared. Of course I fancy her, she was my mate! My mate! A man rushed to my front, crashing down to his knees and bowing instantly, "Alpha king, we had no idea⦠we had no idea you were coming..if we⦠"Bring her to me." I cut him off, my eyes focused on one person and one person only. He stood up quickly, my eyes falling down to look down at him. I knew I was ridiculously tall, but never in my life have I met an alpha as ridiculously short as he is. I shoved him out of the way, my long legs striding towards the girl. Oh God, I loved the effect I had on her. "Please! Please donāt come!" She yelled out, turning her back to run when I used my wolf-speed and caught up to her. The first thing that died down was all my hope, the tingling in my heart and the smile I had on my face. The minute our eyes met, I figured instantly and anger rumbled within me. I clenched my jaw so hard, "who are you?" "Iā¦Iām..Allisonā¦" I grabbed her jaw, my wolf coming back to my head. He was much as angry as I am. He was expecting to see her. "Youāre not her. So I would ask you for the last time, who are you!" I yelled to her face, gripping her jaw harder. "Iām terribly sorry, Your Highness," an elderly woman suddenly rushed out, crouching beside me, her voice filled with fear. "She is my young daughter, Arya. Please spare her..." I released the lady in front of me and turned to the older woman, who must be Aryaās mother. "Where is she? I mean the real Allison!" I roared, having no patience left for their act. "Sheā¦" I looked back to the girl in front of me and suddenly saw a different color sneaking out of her red hair. My brows furrowed as a suspicion crept into my mind, removing her wig instantly. A loud gasp left her mouth, but it just intensified my anger. "Why are you dressed this way? What is going on in this pack!" I growled, my eyes roaming around to look at every one of them. "I..I donāt want to be your lover. I have a mate already. I just thought if I dress like Allison, sheās like a witch, I thought if I dressed like her, you would not want me. Please.." the lady begged, going down on her knees, "please donāt take me..please.." Disgust swarmed into my bloodstream at her nonsense act, but a torch of light filled me up at the information of what my mate was, "where is the other girl? Where is Allison?" I asked, trying to hide my interest. "My lord, how did you come to know Allison?" I clenched my jaw, irritation mixing with all the other emotions I was having already. "Your second daughter is a thief. I want to punish her." "Nope.." I cut in again, "I need to punish her." "Liar, you need to see her." My wolf whispered. "I knew it, father! I knew she was up to something bad again." The lady kneeling in front of me suddenly said. She looked at me, our eyes meeting for the second time, "Allison is a witch. A curse on your highness. She was angry last night and I knew she must have gone up to do something bad. Your highness, it would be better to find another woman than to waste your time on Allison, sheās a lost cause. A disaster. A⦠"Arya!" My head snapped to meet the alphaās hot headed eyes, "why was she angry last night?" He passed an angry look to the lady called Arya before meeting my gaze again, "Your highness, it was nothing. Her sister here Arya is mated to her lover and she found out last night. She was angry and she thought it was a betrayal.. "It is a betrayal." I finished for him. My mind cackled at all the information I had gotten from them. I stepped away from both sister and mother, stepping down to the bare ground, "so where is she now?" "Weā¦we havenāt seen her since last night. She must have ran off." A grin graced my lips, shocking my core. I clenched my fist to my back, trying to control my anger, "so not only did you betray her, you treated her like nobody to the point where she ran away from the house⦠"Your highness.." "Kai, do we have any affiliations to this pack?" My beta rushed towards me, "yes, we have some, not..many." My eyes darkened as I looked at every one of them. I was happy, something that rarely happened. I was looking forward to seeing her again, the more I thought of it the angrier I got. And yet because of the way they treated her, my mate slipped away from my hand, even before I could have a normal conversation with her. "Iāll definitely be in touch with you people. You would hate yourself for what you did.. "Your highness.. "My lord.. "Wolf king.. I turned my back at them, my feets moving hastily and anger pounding in my drum ears. Allison.. Allison.. her name kept sounding in my ear, a familiar tune I was about to get used to. "Find her, Kai. I want you to search every nook and cranny of every wolf kingdom. Sheās my Luna. She would be your queen. Find her." SIX YEARS LATER. ALLISONāS POV. "Like I said and Iāve been saying, this project that weāre trying to make right now is like a calming agent. We all know wolves have difficulties leaving their mates. We all want to travel, go to luxurious places. Sometimes they have businesses to attend to and yet canāt go because their mates canāt afford to leave them." "This agent is just something that makes it easier. You can go as far as a hundred meters from your mate and not even feel it." Cheers erupted from the crowd, the reporters swarming to jot something down while some muttered something within each other. "Asides that Miss Hardin, there has been a question weāve all been trying to ask. It has been four to five years now yet weāve not seen a husband. Are you keeping it from us?" They all laughed, something I found incredibly stupid. I rolled my eyes inwardly at the question. I was expecting the question already. I put on a smile, looking straight at the reporter that asked through my glasses, "as you know, Iām a single mother of three, and I love my children so much. I donāt intend on jeopardizing their happiness for some fling or something called marriage. I intend on being a hot, single mother of three and a businesswoman till the end." I bowed to all of them, turning my back to leave and ignoring their yells. Six years. Six years of groundbreaking hard work. Six years of dedicating my life to my kids and to figuring out something for my life and yet what they want and expect me to do is to be "ā¦.a happily married woman." I mocked, throwing my bag into my car and slamming the door. I dropped my head on the wheel, exhaling a sharp breath. I never thought I would get to this stage. If someone had asked Allison who was madly in love with Merlin and hated by her entire family, she would never have seen this. I was now the top most business woman, Allison Hardin, a medical professional and researcher of the Wolf industry, highly respected and regarded and also, a mother of three. After getting to the human world, I discovered I was pregnant two months later and that was when life came crashing down. After numerous debts from both of my friends, Aurora and Shirley, and almost dying from giving birth to three bouncing babies, two boys and a girl. I decided to return to school. I bagged my degree, bagged another and another and built the company with Aurora. Sometimes I wish I could go back home and rub into their face that the famous witch is the owner of what they were all looking forward to, the agent that makes them stay away from their mates. And also break mate bonds. I drove out of the park, speeding across the highway with a slow music blasting from the speaker. I was a high Lana del ray fan. Her music speaks to me, keeps me calm and makes my heart flutter. The reporterās question kept running through my mind. Do I need a husband? Am I not good enough without any? Was I ready to love again? All those questions and many more swarmed my head. After Merlinās betrayal, men had never looked the same in my eye again. It didnāt take long for me to get home, the security opening the gate and bowing as I drove to the front of the house. My vallet was already waiting for me, opening the door as I stepped down and collected the car key from me. "I want the black Porsche prepared for tomorrow, the driver for the kids would be here." "Yes, maāam." Happiness swarmed within me at every step I took towards the house. My children were sitting inside, waiting for me. They were the joy and happiness of my life, my motivation to keep going. I sneaked into the house, a bouncy smile on my face because I wanted to shock them. I moved my legs one after the other, my lips tightly folded. My smile grew bigger as I saw their three heads, mushed against each other with a stark contrast of hair color. I was about to yell out and scare them when the tv words caught my interest, "The wolf king, Daniel Milano, has announced the search for his mate AGAIN." The reporter started, stressing the word again. "This time itās more urgent as this would be his last year being the wolf king as an ultimatum has been passed to him. If he doesnāt find his mate, then heāll simply be removed. He has asked women of different race and positions, both human and wolves to fill an online form as there would be a meeting of mates." "Turn that off." I muttered, fear crawling through my spine. Their heads whipped towards me at the same time, a loud cry of āmummyā filling the air as they rushed towards me. "Did you hear that, mummy? The wolf king is searching for his mate." "You should fill the form, mummy. Youāre a queen already, you should be the Luna queen and rule the world!" One of them said, I looked down at them, smiling quickly and ignoring the beads of sweats forming at my back. "Why would mummy want to be a queen? Heās undeserving of her. Mummy can be our queen alone." My daughter, Lena said, clearing my mind as I smiled happily at them. I crouched to look at them, shoving my spit down my throat, "mummy is not going anywhere okay, mummy is here for you over and over again. I donāt need to be a queen for anyone when I have you guys." Their hearty giggles made my heart warm as they all hugged me, talking over each other and recounting their days to me. Yet the only thing on my mind was how different this search was, making me scared. For years he has always limited his search to the wolf world, not bringing it close to the human world at all. But this time, this time.. It was different. As if he was very close, and very near to finding me. "Mom, are you okay?" Lena asked, her eyes full of concern. "Do you need me to do anything for you?" "Iām fine," I smiled and kissed her cheek gently. "Iām alright, dear. You donāt need to do anything." Lena was always the first to sense my emotions, not just because sheās a girl, but because she was born with magical abilities. To spare me from the pain of being away from my mate, she had used her powers multiple times to help me get through the full moon heats, but her body had become increasingly frail. She was noticeably thinner than her twin brother. I went over and hugged her again. "Lena! Promise me you wonāt use your abilities anymore. You know, mom has successfully developed a potion." **ALLISONāS POV** "Whatās your name? Tell me your name and Iāll continueā¦" I looked right into his eyes, my wolf screaming "mate, mate, mate" in my head. "I need to know your nameā¦" His teeth grazed my skin, and instead of the usual fear of a mate marking you, it only made my body hotter. "Allison⦠please, Allisonā¦" "Good girlā¦" I opened my eyes to find myself in bed, soaked in sweat, my heart racing madly in my chest. I closed my eyes, heaving a deep breath as my head fell back onto the pillow. Two weeks since that announcement, and Iāve been dreaming of him ever since. Since that announcement was made two weeks ago, Iāve been dreaming about him ever since. My children would have had their father. And I would have either become wealthy or a slave, just like the other girls he chooses each year. I got out of bed, ignoring the dream and the wanting in my body. I mocked the wanting me in the mirror, the dyed black hair clashing with the golden colored contacts. Over the years, Iāve changed everything that reminded me of Allison. The girl who was always mocked by her sister and peers. The girl without parents. The girl was betrayed by her lover. I stepped into the shower, applying more dye to my hair before bathing. Suddenly, my phone rang . It was Aurora. "Hey, sexiest female billionaire, ready to return to the jungle and continue being the queen?" Aurora joked with me. I laughed, Auroraās jokes lightening my burden. I believed she hadnāt received any news about the Alpha King at the company, otherwise she would have told me. My bigger worry was that my previous exposure might have caught the Alpha Kingās attention, but that night, I believed with the dim lighting he couldnāt have made out my features. And for the past two weeks, I havenāt left home, choosing to work remotely. With the successful launch, my anxiety and workload have both decreased significantly. Although Aurora was puzzled by my decision, she still respected me. She told me I must have had good enough reasons to do so. Two weeks have passed, and my surveillance hasnāt shown any suspicious figures either. I told Aurora I would be there on time. I dressed quickly once I was done. Today was the launch of the agent, or the test, and Aurora had called me multiple times while I was having my dream about my supposed mate. I settled for a ridiculously long black skirt, pairing it with a short white crop top that revealed my cleavage, and grabbed a white shirt to use as a jacket. I paired it with my expensive heels, combing my hair into a bun. The children were at school, so there was no need for any afternoon pecking or kisses before I left. The car was already in front of the house, the key passed to me by Nicole, my valet. "Have a nice day, Nicole." "And you too, maāam." As I drove out of the gated community, the black gates closed behind me. I turned on the Bluetooth and started playing "Born to Die" by my favorite singer Lana Del Rey. I swayed my arms along with the music, but suddenly, a small deer darted out in front of my car as I was exiting the residential area. I slammed on the brakes hard. As I was about to check if I had hit it, four men wearing the Royal Guard insignia approached and blocked my way. My heart sank. I quickly grabbed my phone, my hands trembling terribly. The sight of the uniform rang bells in my head, making my body shake vigorously. Nope⦠nope⦠this could not be happening. One of them walked towards me, tapping on my car window. I swallowed nervously before rolling it down. "Hi⦠how may I help you?" I asked with a faltering smile. He looked at his partner, who walked over with a paper in his hand. He collected the paper, rolling it open for me. "You have been selected." Deep lines edged my forehead as my eyes scanned the paper. He snapped it away before I could finish. "Didnāt you apply to be the wolf kingās Luna?" His next words confirmed my past fear of the last two weeks, the crippling anxiety I had been feeling that he was too close to me. "The wolf king wants to meet you, immediately." Allisonās POV. Those words made my heart sink to the pit of my stomach, a chill running down my spine as invisible sweat seeped from my throat. "Um...sorry...pardon?" My instincts kept me composed. I was certain they must have made a mistake - I had dyed my hair, changed my last name, I had never let the Alpha King get a clear look at my features. Most importantly, I had not filled out any application forms, how could I have voluntarily applied? "You must have the wrong person. If you noticed the Kingās proclamation, then when you saw the color of my hair, you would have realized your mistake." "Allison Harding." The guard leaned in again, his gaze returning to the name on the form. "Isnāt that your name?" "Yes, but surely I canāt be the only one with this name," I argued again. But his eyes moved from the photo on the application back to my face. His expression grew impatient, as if I was toying with him. "Do not challenge the Alpha Kingās authority, your every action will impact your loved ones or friends." With that, he tossed the application at me. My eyes scanned the form, first noticing my name printed in bold black letters - Miss Allison Harding. My age was bolded - 26, my occupation, my gender, everything about me printed there. I looked to the bottom right corner, and there was my photo, my face an exact match but my hair clearly photoshopped to the fiery red it had been back in the pack. My fingers trembled as it all showed I had voluntarily applied to be a luna candidate. "Listen, my black hair is proof enough. If I really wanted to enter the courtship, I would have dyed it red. This has to be some prank!" "Those are not our orders. Weāre simply tasked with bringing you to the palace." The guard stated flatly, not listening to any of my protests as he yanked me from the car. I knew resisting now would only make things worse, my gaze returning to the four muscular wolf guards - I was certain my current abilities were no match to escape them. "Iāll go with you." The guard said nothing, merely summoning a luxury vehicle bearing the royal crest. As I approached, one guard ran ahead to open the rear left door for me. "Donāt worry about your car, weāll have someone take care of it," one guard said as I got in. I couldnāt hear his words, as the car moved forward the fear from six years ago when I fled the Alpha Kingās side became viscerally clear again. That night it had rained heavily, every jolt of the taxi making me think the Alpha King had caught up in a furious rage. And for six years I had been on the run, ensuring I wouldnāt be found, hiding myself away, coloring myself, taking on a new name. As I weighed my options, my heart pounded rapidly in my chest. I ran from him. The scenes from that night played vividly - I had stolen from him, left him with nothing. If he didnāt torture me for stealing from him, he would surely kill me for the anguish I had caused him these six years. "At least he might kill you in bed," my wolf whimpered, and I angrily cut her off, in no mood for her jokes. I hadnāt come up with a better way to escape death when the car stopped before an ornate estateās gates. It was clearly the territory of the Alpha Wolf King. "Miss Harding, weāve arrived," a guard said, getting out and opening my door. I hesitated to exit, but the guard saw through me, yanking me out directly. "Miss Harding, please come with us." A maid in palace attire nodded to the four guards before approaching me. Looking around at the heavily guarded palace grounds, I realized I had no chance of escape. "Maybe the Alpha King canāt even feel our connection anymore," I reassured myself. "Otherwise, how could he bear six years of separation?" It was very possible. When I first left, I felt agonizing pain. I had separation anxiety from leaving my wolf. It was most painful when I was pregnant, craving and wanting him, but unable to have him. After giving birth, the pain was even worse, until I eventually lost the entire wolf scent. As if he never mattered, was never there. I believed the Alpha King likely felt the same way. "Allyson! We should give our mate a chance to get reacquainted, you know, maybe heās not so bad," my wolf grumbled unhappily. Maybe, but Iām certain thatās not the life I want. After being put down for twenty years, I wonāt endure hardship just for a manās protection. I need to be able to control my own life, to live by my own rules, not someone elseās. I was placed in a room with a large mirror in front of me. I sat facing the mirror, seeing only my own reflection, but I knew it was a one-way mirror. The interrogation-like setup made me anxious. Suddenly, the muffled noises behind the mirror stopped, replaced by heavy, deliberate footsteps. Then, I felt an overwhelming presence. My heart started pounding louder. I forgot to breathe. Heās here. Heās my mate. Heās the one I stole from. Heās also the father of my child. Heās in this room. I swallowed hard and sat down, staring at the one-way glass in front of me. My heart raced, and any sound or movement might make it beat even faster. I was ready with every apology, every excuseāthis was all a mistakeābut every word, every thought got twisted in my head. I couldnāt take my eyes off the one-way glass as a wave of emotion surged inside me. Heās watching me. Heās staring right at me. āAllison.ā The sound of his deep, sweet voice made every nerve in my body stop. I closed my eyes, parted my lips to speak, but then his voice came again, confirming my worst fears. āYour red hair looks much better than any color you think it does now.ā He recognized me. Danielās Perspective I stood in the dimly lit room, my eyes fixed on the other side of the one-way mirror. She sat there, breathtakingly beautiful. Her body was all curves in the right places, and she wore a tight black dress that clung to her hourglass figure. Her long legs were straight and shapely. The only flaw was that sheād dyed her hair a low-key black instead of the fiery red it once was. Six years of searching, countless lonely nightsāIād fall asleep thinking of that fiery red hair. When I realized she had left me on purpose, my anger was uncontrollable. I scoured every wolf pack looking for her, but it was all in vain. I endured the agony of being separated from my mate. When my subordinates told me there was now a medicine that could ease the effects of mate separation, I refused to take it. That bone-deep yearning and pain were the only things keeping me focused, driving me to find her. When I saw her face on the news, promoting that medicine, I shattered the screen in front of me. I immediately ordered my men to announce a mate selection event. Now sheās finally here, right in front of me. āTonight, sheās going to learn the price of playing games with me,ā I murmured, locking eyes with her. Allisonās POV The air was thick and silent as he stepped out from where he was staying, our eyes meeting instantly. I could feel something drum in my heart, my stomach, my mind, my head, every part of my body. It felt different. Just like that night. He had grown, and not in a bad way. Or probably because I didnāt see him well that night but he was handsome. Despite whatever was going on, my heart could not deny that, it would seem as though I was lying to myself. His green eyes stared directly into mine, his gaze intense and hot, looking at me as if he could read everything I had planned, as if he knew everything I was about to do. He stared at me in a way that dared me to defy him, that dared me to talk back to him and that if I did, he would unleash the fury he has been keeping for the past six years. So I did the opposite, I didnāt say anything as he walked towards me. He stopped in front of the table and plopped into the chair in front of me, his eyes not leaving mine for once. He clenched his jaw hard and long, his nose flaring for a bit before his lips curled up, "Six years, Allison." He muttered. I gulped down, ignoring the way I felt down there as my name rolled off his tongue. Ignoring the perfect and delicious scent of his wafting into my nose and making my thighs clench. "Your highness," I gulped down, fisting my hands to my laps. "I have no idea how everything came to place. I had no idea who applied for this or who was messing with me. All of this.." I said, depicting my hand by rounding it all over the table, "is a terrible mistake and one that we shouldnāt waste time on. I didnāt apply for this. Iām a successful businesswoman.. "Of course. With the money you stole from my wallet, you are successful." He cut me off, his lips stretched into a thin smile. He leaned close to me, his hands propped on the table. My lips watered at the fine line of veins on his outstretched palms, "how about we cut to the chase, Allison? If you think everyone can forget you, I cannot." His gaze turned serious all of a sudden, sharp and dangerous. "You stole from me." "This is all a mistake." I shook my head, ignoring the warning blares in my head that I should just stop lying and tell the truth. "And you didnāt only steal from me, you stole, you slept with me and you ran off, leaving me alone and making me look like a fool for the past six years." He growled lightly at the end of his sentence, a grin plastered on his face, "I should kill you for what you did." My eyes widened instantly, my heart rising to a fault, "all this is a mistake, alpha king. I donāt know what youāre talking about! I have.. "I swear on the goddessā name, if you lie to me again, I will cut your tongue and feed it to my hungry dogs and I would personally burn your body myself." I zipped my mouth, relaxing right into the chair back. I blinked away from him, my eyes moving everywhere asides him. "I should actually kill you." I heard him say, "but I would not. I have an offer for you." I looked back at him, my ears attentive and my entire body on edge. He knew me. He recognized me. Heās not killing me. All I have to do is get this offer, and forget that I ever met and everything like this happened. "What is it?" I asked quietly. I hated the smug smile on his face as he relaxed back into his chair, withdrawing his long hands that I badly wanted to trace the veins on them to himself and folding it on his chest, "so are you agreeing that youāre the Allison that stole from me, Allison?" I clenched my jaw, not wavering for a bit, "whatās your offer?" "Be my Luna Queen." He said without hesitation. "Be my Luna Queen, and Iāll forgive you for what you did six years ago. Iāll let you be. Iāll not do anything." It felt like a stupid joke at first. I laughed out, not caring where I was or the situation I was under. It was all funny to me. The sound of my laughter filled the room, the way his eyebrows raised in curiosity, his eyes gazing at me like I was a fool. "You must be joking." "And you must think Iām joking." He retorted. The laughter died down, left with an opened mouth and a surprise widened eyes, "I cannot be your Luna Queen." "Give me reasons." I was still in shock, our eyes boring into each otherās. I could not even bring myself to close my mouth, or to think at all. "I just cannot be your Luna Queen." "Then tell me why." "Because I donāt have a wolf!" I yelled to his face, my heart hurting a bit at those words. "I canāt transform." I continued, "I lost the ability to shift to my wolf a long time ago. I donāt know how to do anything. I donāt. Iām just not capable of being your Luna Queen. Not a wolfless person like me." It was his turn for his bounty sounds to fill the room, his mouth open, the mockery and seriousness of his words entangled in one whole form of expression; laughter. "Iām not joking with you, Allison. And this is not a suggestion. You are to be my Luna Queen." "And Iām saying no! I do not want to be your Luna Queen!" I stood my ground, snapping right to his face. The air in the room went tense immediately, his green eyes narrowing down on me as they darkened. Deep lines grazed his cheeks and his forehead hard and pointed at his clenched jaw. "Donāt test me, Allison." "And donāt test me too, wolf king. I am not⦠He slammed his hand angrily on the table. His eyes wide with anger and steam blowing from his ears. His eyes were no longer the normal green colour. It was now very red, the fire and fury burning in them. The door opened and cut the tension in the air, the silence replaced by the familiar sound of my ringtone. "Her phone." She placed it on the table and the moment my eyes went to it, every anger or irritation that has been burning within me died down immediately. My fingers moved swiftly to quickly cut the call only for the voice of Lena to spring up in the air. "Mummy, where are you?" "Mummy!!" "Mummy!" Leo called out. "Mummy, they did something very bad. Leo and Liam did something. Are you fine? Did they come for you?" A chuckle escaped Danielās lips, both of us exchanging a glance instantly. "They submitted that form for you." "Mommy, are you okay?" I cut the call immediately, gulping down as my head started ransacking every excuse I could use to back out. I had lied I didnāt submit the form, the truth was out already. "Tell me Allison⦠"Your highness, Iām a single mom of three, no one wants to have a Luna that has three children already. I canāt. Consider. "Allisonā¦" he called out. I looked at him, our eyes into each other, "are those children mine?" -------------------------------- Open the app and continue reading the rest of the story . š (It will automatically jump to the book when you open the app) šDue to FB has a limit on the amount of text, Pls Download Dreame to read Full version š<Taking Alphaās Triplet Away> on Dreame | LEARN_MORE | https://m.dreame.com/novel/1576688896?auto_jump=tr | Dreame Story Here | https://www.facebook.com/100091450006035/ | 3,560 | 0 | 0 | 1969-12-31 18:00 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | Learn More | 0 | m.dreame.com | DCO | https://m.dreame.com/novel/1576688896?auto_jump=true&utm_source=facebook_ads&utm_campaign={{campaign.name}}&af_c_id={{campaign.id}}&af_adset_id={{adset.id}}&af_ad_id={{ad.id}} | 1969-12-31 18:00 | https://scontent-iad3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/463643410_1279529419713571_978109995133049844_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_s60x60&_nc_cat=104&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=YjwStymuo-kQ7kNvgHVDETl&_nc_zt=14&_nc_ht=scontent-iad3-1.xx&_nc_gid=AKJZMSbvyJBjsoJL6yq8Vnq&oh=00_AYAMGMCQBspcxSjJA9DG2WK8sGVHa1-basDhb6PeRj6yww&oe=671B6417 | PERSON_PROFILE | 0 | 0 | 0 | Dreame Story Here | 0 | 0 | 1969-12-31 18:00 | View Edit Delete |
