Her delicate skin was mostly hidden under a sheer blanket, with only her arms peeking out, bearing the faint red traces of a night filled with passion.

Cynthia Jenkins stirred, letting out a soft moan as she woke from her deep sleep. She tried to get up, but her body, still weary and sore, sank back onto the bed.

Memories from the night before came rushing back, bringing a faint smile to her face. For the first time in their three-year marriage, she and her husband, Nathan Richardson, had made love.

She noticed Nathan wasn't in the room, and a tinge of disappointment flickered across her face, quickly replaced by composure.

At the beginning of their marriage, Nathan had been distant, rarely showing any affection. Cynthia couldn't help but wonder if last night marked a turning point, a sign that he had finally accepted her.

With a flicker of hope, Cynthia rose cheerfully from the bed. The moment her bare feet touched the cold floor, she felt a sudden chill.

Picking up a blue sapphire cufflink, oddly shaped and shimmering, from the floor, Cynthia widened her eyes in surprise. 'Could this be Nathan's?'

Thinking of this, Cynthia smiled and placed the cufflink in her bag. Then, she went to freshen up herself before returning home.

Cynthia had barely stepped out of the door when she ran into an unexpected visitor.

"Cynthia?" The woman in front of her, dressed in a crisp white dress and possessing a sharp, piercing voice, was Kelly Dixon, the second lady of the Dixon family.

Cynthia had always been at odds with the Dixon sisters. Jessica Dixon, the eldest lady of the family, was Nathan's first love. But today, Cynthia was in a good mood. "Kelly, what a surprise to see you here."

"Indeed." Kelly sized up Cynthia with a mocking smile. "If I had arrived a bit earlier or later, I might have missed catching you in the act."

She pointed at the red marks on Cynthia's arms with disdain. "What is this? You shameless woman! How dare you fooling around with other men behind Nathan's back!"

Cynthia frowned, "What are you talking about?"

"Cynthia, I've always known you're shameless, clinging to Nathan. But I never pegged you as someone who'd stoop this low." Kelly's eyes sparkled with the thrill of uncovering a juicy piece of gossip. "Are you really going to say these marks are from a night with Nathan?"

Before Cynthia could utter a word, Kelly cut her off. "Please, cut the act. Nathan was at the hospital last night, staying by my sister's side. He was too busy to even catch a nap, much less waste time on someone like you."

Cynthia's face changed dramatically. "Nathan was at the hospital?"

"Where else would he be? You think he'd come to see you?" Kelly's voice was thick with sarcasm, as if she had just heard something ridiculous. "You've been caught sneaking around with someone else, and I'm not letting this slide so easily!

"I'm going to show Nathan just how low you can go!" Kelly declared, her resolve unwavering. "I'm calling him right now to come over!"

Cynthia couldn't absorb a word. Her mind went blank.

If Nathan had spent the entire night in the hospital, then who was the man who had been so passionately entwined with her last night?

A sudden realization made Cynthia's face darken.

She had been set up!

Yesterday was their three-year wedding anniversary, and Nathan surprisingly messaged her to meet at a hotel.

Overjoyed and without a second thought, Cynthia rushed over. But when she arrived, Nathan texted to say he would be late and even ordered her some takeout.

Cynthia, not sensing anything amiss and simply savoring the food, didn't expect to completely lose consciousness after finishing her meal. And that man last night...

As Cynthia thought about everything that happened last night, her face turned deathly pale. 'How could this happen?'

"Nathan already hates you for taking Jessica's place, and now, he'll never forgive you!" Kelly said triumphantly after a quick phone call. She stood firmly in Cynthia's path, blocking her exit.

Cynthia hadn't even considered leaving. She felt a chill run down her spine. Besides, there weren't many people who could send a message using Nathan's phone.

Soon, Nathan hurried down the corridor. "Kelly, did you need something from me?"

He glanced at Cynthia with impatience. "What are you doing here? Jessica is still in the hospital. What are you up to now?"

"I..." Cynthia opened her mouth, her mind in turmoil, unsure how to respond to him.

"Nathan, I called you here," Kelly interjected eagerly. "I just so happened to see Cynthia sneaking out of a hotel room with some guy. It's serious, so I had to tell you."

Nathan's face darkened instantly. "Cynthia, is it true?"

"Would you believe me if I say I was framed?" Cynthia's eyes held a flicker of hope. "It was you who..."

A smack came!

Nathan's hand struck her face with a resounding slap, his expression cold and detached.

"Pathetic! Why would anyone frame you?" Nathan's eyes blazed with anger at the sight of the red marks on Cynthia's arms.

Even if he had no feelings for Cynthia, she was still his wife in name. This was nothing but a shame to him.

Kelly watched with a smirk, stirring the pot. "Exactly, you must be delusional to think someone's out to get you.

"Nathan, she's just lashing out because you're nice to Jessica. I caught her once, but who knows how many times she's cheated on you. Wake up, man."

"What else do you have to say?" Nathan's gaze was filled with disgust.

"What can I say?" Cynthia touched her burning cheek, a cold despair settling in her heart. She looked at Nathan, fighting the urge to laugh bitterly. "Nathan, don't you even want to ask why I ended up here?"

It was ridiculous that her husband seemed to be solely dedicated to helping others deceive her.

Nathan's eyes were full of disgust. "What exactly are you trying to say?"

Cynthia felt utterly disheartened. She held up her phone, emphasizing each word. "Your phone sent me a message to come here. I trusted it and showed up. Did you text me, Nathan?"

Nathan's gaze flickered. Last night, after getting treated, Jessica borrowed his phone...

"It seems you know now who it was." Cynthia noticed his evasive look and had her suspicions. She smiled through her tears, "Nathan, I'm your wife. I'm the one being framed."

Kelly quickly interjected, "Nathan, don't fall for her act. She's just looking for an excuse..."

"This is between me and my husband. It's not your place to interfere," Cynthia retorted, showing her temper in front of Nathan for the first time.

"You..." Kelly was furious and about to retort.

However, Nathan had made up his mind at that moment. "I sent the text. I got tied up, sure, but that's no excuse for you cheating!"

"It seems this is your choice, then." Cynthia's heart turned cold. Despite knowing she was wronged, he still chose to defend that hypocritical woman. She couldn't believe this was the man she loved.

Nathan didn't show any sign of guilt. "Cynthia, it's you who fooled around with another man. Who else is there to blame?"

Even though he felt somewhat uncomfortable about what Jessica did, he still firmly sided with her.

"I was blind to have trusted the wrong person."

Cynthia closed her eyes, and when she opened them moments later, they were clear and resolved. "Nathan, let's get a divorce."

..............................................................................
"Cynthia, what on earth are you thinking?" Nathan frowned slightly while Kelly's eyes flickered with surprise.

Cynthia gave a self-mocking smile. "Nathan, I'm not someone who clings to what I can't have. Remember, I'm the one walking away from you, not the other way around."

With those words, Cynthia felt a sudden clarity in her heart.

"Cynthia, you're the one who messed up, but here you are, playing word games. Are you threatening Nathan?" Kelly said, secretly pleased.

Cynthia glanced coldly at her. "Kelly, sometimes, you should just stay quiet."

But Nathan's response caught Cynthia off guard. "I don't agree to the divorce."

Cynthia let out a bitter laugh. "Isn't this what you've always wanted? Now that I'm stepping aside, you can be with Jessica happily ever after. Why disagree?

"Or is there something more you're after, something you haven't gotten from me yet?" Cynthia's tone shifted, causing a subtle change in the expressions of the two before her.

She didn't think herself so self-absorbed to believe Nathan still had feelings for her. Their reactions pretty much confirmed her suspicions.

"I guess I was right." Cynthia curled up her lips. "So, Nathan, what's it gonna take for you to sign those divorce papers?"

Nathan's eyes were deep and solemn. At this point, there was nothing left to hide. "Jessica's really sick, Cynthia, and you're the only one who can donate a kidney to save her. That's my only condition. Help her, and you won't regret it, I promise."

Cynthia was thunderstruck, her voice hoarse with disbelief. "You mean, this whole time...you were just after my kidney?"

"Jessica is the only one Nathan loves. Why else would he marry you if not to save her?" Kelly sneered, and Nathan's look confirmed that she was right.

Cynthia felt a chill in her heart. It all made sense now. Nathan had initially balked at his grandfather Mark Richardson's suggestion of marrying Cynthia. He had been adamant about marrying Jessica instead, only to abruptly change his mind when Cynthia was nearly ready to walk away.

She had hoped that, over time, Nathan might come to love her. But she realized now that from the very start, he had been scheming for her kidney!

"Cynthia," Nathan said, softening his tone deliberately. "Just help me out this one time, and I promise to keep today's drama under wraps. I'll make it worth your while, enough to start over somewhere far away."

"In your dreams, Nathan." Cynthia emphasized each word. "Sure, I had feelings for you, but not enough to degrade myself like this."

"Looks like you choose the hard way." Nathan, never one with a good temper, immediately hardened his stance. "If you refuse to donate a kidney to Jessica, I will absolutely not agree to the divorce."

Cynthia laughed angrily and retorted, "Fine by me. Do you have any idea how hard I worked to marry you? If you want to grow old with me, then so be it."

"Cynthia!" Nathan's face soured. He was about to speak when Cynthia ruthlessly cut him off.

"I just give you one chance, Nathan. Be at the Courthouse entrance at 9 AM sharp tomorrow. If you don't show up..."

Cynthia smirked coldly. "Then even better. Jessica can forget about marrying into the Richardson family. And I'll make sure to remind you that you'll be a cuckolds for the rest of your life!"

With that, Cynthia turned and left, not bothering to give Nathan or Kelly a second glance.

"Nathan, what if she refuses the surgery? What about Jessica?" Kelly, watching Cynthia's retreating figure, feigned urgency.

Nathan's gaze was deep. "Don't worry. I'll find a way to make her agree."

As Cynthia stepped out of the hotel, a sleek Rolls-Royce Phantom suddenly pulled up, blocking her path.

The window rolled down, showing a woman in her forties, still exuding charm, a face often seen on financial news.

"You're right on time, Mom." Recognizing the woman, Cynthia wasn't surprised at all, her voice and posture shifting to something more dignified.

"Get in," Heather Brooks said calmly.

With a deep breath, Cynthia got into the back seat. Throughout the ride, they hardly talked to each other.

In Litharia, Jenkins Villa stood majestically in the most coveted scenic area, home to the affluent Jenkins family.

"I've heard the story between you and Nathan. So, have you finally seen Nathan's true colors?"

In the living room of Jenkins Villa, Heather sipped her coffee, looking at Cynthia indifferently. "It's time for you to come back and take over the family business."

..............................................................................
Heather had five children, and aside from her only daughter, Cynthia, the other four sons kept their identities hidden, excelling in their fields but refusing to take over the family business.

Left with no other option, Heather pinned her hopes on Cynthia.

Cynthia breathed deeply, only then realizing that she had been under her mother's watchful eye for these past three years.

It wasn't surprising, though. Since her father's death, the Jenkins family had been fragmented. Heather wasn't truly a Jenkins. Although she had been holding the reins, she was surrounded by those eyeing her position. Eventually, Heather had grown accustomed to keeping everything under her control, leaving no stone unturned.

"It's not possible right now," Cynthia said somewhat helplessly.

Heather's eyes narrowed as she spoke firmly. "What, you still have feelings for him?"

"Of course not," Cynthia couldn't help but laugh dryly. "Mom, I just need some time to divorce him. I promise, after the divorce, I will definitely return to the Jenkins family."

Cynthia mused, why did she ever waste three years pining for Nathan?

Getting the response she wanted, Heather nodded in satisfaction. "That's more like a Jenkins girl. Also..."

"What is it?" Seeing Heather hesitating to speak, Cynthia was curious.

Heather spoke steadily. "The man you slept with at the hotel, do you recall who he is?"

Cynthia's expression froze, and she remained silent.

"I'm thinking about finding this man. If he's decent enough, we could welcome him into the family. The Jenkins can certainly afford to support one more. This would also solidify your position in the family."

What Heather left unsaid was that if the man was not up to her standard, the consequences were obvious.

Cynthia was at a loss for words. She didn't even know how to argue with that.

Back in her room, Cynthia lay on the bed, overwhelmed. What happened today was more thrilling than her life during the past three years combined.

She absently played with the cufflink in her hand, a lone clue left by the mysterious man from the previous night.

Suddenly, Cynthia realized something and sat up abruptly. The cufflink was a limited edition, and her brother, the third sir of the Jenkins, Eric Jenkins, also a leading designer, might know its origin.

Without hesitation, Cynthia called Eric.

"Thia, you've finally taken your eyes off that idiot, huh? What's up?" Eric's voice was cheerful over the phone.

Cynthia couldn't help but smile, "Starting today, Nathan and I have nothing to do with each other. We're getting divorced tomorrow."

At that moment, in the midst of a major international jewelry show, Eric sat up straight. "What? What on earth happened to make the blind girl finally see the light?"

Cynthia laughed. "Come on, stop kidding. Are you free right now? I could really use your help. Check your messages. I've sent you a picture. Can you figure out where this thing's from?"

The next morning, outside the Courthouse, Nathan stood with a stern expression. He arrived on time and had been waiting for two hours without a glimpse of Cynthia.

His calls went unanswered, and just as his patience was running thin, Cynthia finally arrived.

She was dressed to the nines, radiant and elegant, a stark contrast to her former self. Nathan almost didn't recognize her at first sight.

"What now? Getting cold feet about the divorce?" Seeing Cynthia slowly making her appearance, Nathan thought she regretted her decision not to divorce and had dressed up like this to win him back, feeling smug.

"Getting cold feet? Why do I have to?" Cynthia touched her earring. She had intentionally made Nathan wait outside today.

Cynthia was certain that Nathan wouldn't leave as long as his goal remained unmet, even if it meant waiting there all day.

Nathan snorted, "As long as you're willing to help Jessica, we can still be friends."

"What are you thinking? We're getting divorced and you still think we can be friends?" Cynthia scoffed dismissively. "You know what, Nathan? I've changed my mind. Why should I rely on a man who's after my organs? There are plenty of decent men out there, like that guy from the hotel. I'm quite satisfied with him."

Even if Nathan had once saved her life, the help she had given him secretly over the past three years was more than enough to settle any debt.

"Shameless!" Nathan didn't expect Cynthia to change her attitude so quickly, grinding his teeth in anger.

Cynthia was unapologetic. "And what about you? Let's go. I can hardly wait."

..............................................................................
Half an hour later, the two emerged from the Courthouse. Cynthia held the divorce papers, knowing that from now on, her marriage to Nathan was officially over.

"Cynthia, my offer is always on the table. When you're ready, you know where to find me," Nathan said, glancing at Cynthia, his words laced with implication.

He had always thought that Cynthia came from a modest background. The financial security he could provide was something he thought Cynthia couldn't earn in a lifetime.

Cynthia scoffed, "Dream on, Nathan. That day will never come."

Nathan was about to respond when his expression suddenly changed. He quickly descended the steps, leaving Cynthia behind.

"Jessica? What are you doing here?"

At the foot of the steps, a girl with an innocent appearance and long hair cascading over her shoulders rushed toward them. Her face was ghostly pale. It was Jessica, the one Nathan always held dear.

In just a few short steps, Jessica was panting.

Nathan, heart aching, wrapped his arms around Jessica, gently stroking her back to help her catch her breath.

Cynthia had had enough of their closeness. She was ready to leave then and there.

"Wait up, Cynthia, please, just a sec," Jessica panted, rushing to intercept Cynthia.

"Do you need something?" Cynthia asked indifferently, causing Nathan to frown.

Jessica bit her lip. "I... I'm sorry about Nathan. He's always saying the opposite of what he feels. He really cares about you, you know. The last thing I want is for you guys to split."

Seeing Jessica's meekness, Nathan felt a twinge of pain. "Jessica, you don't have to apologize for me."

"Nathan's right. Why do you think you can apologize on his behalf?" Cynthia looked at Jessica, whose facade of innocence was grating on her.

It's all my fault. He's been tough on you because he's worried about my condition. Can you just let it slide this time? I don't have much time left, and...I really hope there's someone by his side when I'm gone.

Cynthia smiled, "It seems you're quite aware of your own health condition. You two are really close, right? Then how could you bear to push him towards me?"

"Cynthia, don't push your luck," Nathan said, his face clouding over.

Jessica bit her lip. "Nathan and I are just friends. I genuinely wish you two to patch things up."

"But the divorce is already final," Cynthia said deliberately.

Jessica quickly suggested. "But if there's a chance, why not consider remarriage?"

"You're really looking out for us, huh? Do you even believe what you're saying?" Cynthia scoffed. She was done playing along and decided to confront the truth head-on. "You don't want us back together, Jessica. You're worried that if we divorce, Nathan won't be able to control me to get you a kidney transplant in time before finding a new donor. Sorry, but I'm not budging. I won't let you get your way."

"It's not like that, Cynthia. You've got it all wrong. I would never..." She shook her head vigorously, looking utterly wronged.

Cynthia smirked. "You may not do it yourself, but you're great at hinting. I believe someone would do it for you."

"Cynthia, this was all my idea. What does it have to do with Jessica? Back off," Nathan said, his expression darkening as he quickly jumped to Jessica's defense.

Cynthia sneered, "Funny, I didn't even mention a name. But since you care so much for each other, why not make it official? The city hall is just around the corner. Why wait? Go get married today.

"At least you're his wife when you are gone, Jessica. Isn't that right?"

Jessica's eyes flickered with unreadable emotion, and she still played innocent. "Cynthia, Nathan and I are really just good friends. I'm getting worse. After years without a matching kidney donor, I've given up hope."

"So, I'm your only hope, huh? No wonder you're so desperate to having me stay," Cynthia said bluntly, cutting to the heart of the matter.

Jessica, overwhelmed with frustration and unable to counter Cynthia's relentless words, suddenly collapsed.

"Jessica, Jessica!" Nathan held her in his arms, calling her name repeatedly, but Jessica showed no response.

"How convenient to pass out at this moment." Cynthia noted with a smile.

Nathan glared at Cynthia, scooping Jessica up in his arms, and warned sternly, "If anything happens to Jessica, Cynthia, I'll never forgive you."

..............................................................................
Having said that, Nathan hurriedly carried Jessica to the car and headed for the hospital.

Cynthia, unfazed, turned and drove towards Richardson Villa to pack her things.

She had lived in Richardson Villa for three years. Three years ago, she was overjoyed, thinking she had finally found the person from her childhood.

It was she who had saved Nathan from danger, even daring to bet with Heather and hiding her identity to marry into the Richardson family. She tiptoed through life there, desperately trying to fit in.

Yet, throughout all those three years, the Richardsons never accepted her as one of them, always leaving her feeling like an outsider no matter how hard she tried.

Cynthia finally realized that Nathan had been insincere from the start. Reflecting on it now, she just couldn't believe how naive she had been, viewing everything through the rose-colored glasses of her childhood memories.

Luckily, she had finally woken up. There was no going back to this family for her.

As she entered the living room, Kelly stood at the top of the stairs, looking down at her with a smug expression.

Cynthia was not surprised. A month ago, Nathan had brazenly brought the Dixon sisters back to live in Richardson Villa.

Nathan's mother, Sharon Richardson, had been completely charmed by them, never showing Cynthia any kindness.

Looking down on Cynthia, Kelly gloated. "Cynthia, you're already divorced from Nathan. Why do you even show your face here?

"Cynthia, I'm talking to you! Do you think playing deaf and dumb will get you through? Shameless." Kelly stood in the middle of the staircase, arms crossed, saying sternly.

Cynthia glanced at her indifferently. "You know very well that who's the shameless one. Move aside."

"What if I don't?" Kelly smirked triumphantly. "You are nothing but a discarded wife, and yet you dare to be arrogant in front of me. If you want me to step aside, beg for it."

"Kelly, I really admire your reckless courage," Cynthia said with a light laugh. "I haven't even bothered with you yet, and here you are, stepping right into the crosshairs."

Kelly didn't take Cynthia's words seriously, her eyes filled with scorn. "You think you can intimidate me, Cynthia? Really, what do you think you're capable of?"

A sharp glint flashed in Cynthia's eyes as she spoke calmly. "A minor actress shamelessly moves into a married man's house, and within a month, the young couple is divorced. I wonder, if this little scandal hits the headlines, how your fans will react. Will they stand by you, or will they turn their backs, dragging your name through the mud?"

Kelly, a mediocre graduate from a film academy with unremarkable looks and talent, had only managed to carve a niche for herself in showbiz with Nathan's financial support. She was, at best, a second-tier star, and her position in the entertainment world was what she valued most.

Sure enough, Kelly's face changed drastically at these words. "Cynthia, are you threatening me?"

"Right, I am threatening you," Cynthia admitted. "Better watch your step with me. If not, I'll make sure this story goes public. You've got plenty of enemies itching for a scoop like this. I wonder how many fans will stick by you after that."

"You wouldn't dare!" Kelly's face betrayed a flash of panic.

Cynthia scoffed, "Try me. I've got nothing to hide. You're the one who should be worried, not me. Don't believe me? Go ahead, push your luck!"

Perhaps it was her tolerance over these past three years that had given these people the audacity to challenge her.

Having said that, Cynthia pushed past Kelly's shoulder, striding upstairs to her room, leaving Kelly standing there in fury.

The master room was divided into two parts - a study and a bedroom. Nathan never spent the night in the bedroom, and the study was more like a shared area for the two.

In less than half an hour, Cynthia had packed her things. After three years, all she had filled was one suitcase and a backpack. Looking at them, she almost wanted to laugh.

Suddenly, she remembered a pen of hers in the study. As she went in to retrieve it, she noticed a document on the desk.

Her eyes fell on the paper. It was a bidding proposal from Nathan's company for a project under the Jenkins Group.

Cynthia almost laughed. In the past, if she had seen this document, she would have secretly helped, arranging for the Jenkins Group to internally fix the bid to help Nathan secure the project.

But now, seeing the proposal, Cynthia smiled, promising herself to give Nathan a surprise.

After packing her things, Cynthia, dragging her suitcase, was about to leave when suddenly someone appeared at the door.

"Don't worry, I'm all packed and I won't be back," Cynthia said indifferently. To her, Nathan had become less significant than a stranger.

Nathan snorted, "That's it? That's all you have to say?"

"What more is there between us?" Cynthia couldn't help but laugh. "The fact that you're standing here means Jessica is still alive. Now, if you don't mind, step aside. I'm hurried to move out."

"Cynthia, I never realized how sharp-tongued you could be," Nathan said coldly, staring at the person before him. "Before you leave, you must apologize to Kelly!" | LEARN_MORE | https://www.yumread.com/share/middle/kh4cejimwjt2x | 101489936134366 | OasisStory | https://facebook.com/100087803393468 | 29,408 | 0 | 1,594,296,474,701,085 | 2024-05-03 02:00 | person_profile | eligible | 0 | 0 | NONE | 0 | 1 | 0 | 0 | Learn more | 0 | OasisStory | 120208841188580267 | www.yumread.com | NONE | video | https://www.yumread.com/share/middle/kh4cejimwjt2xx14x02sedkp?ad_id={{ad.id}}&sid=120208841178590267&campaign={{campaign.name}}&adgroup={{adset.name}} | 2024-05-03 05:56 | https://scontent-dfw5-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/440759922_408992055256753_1889821642673679583_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_s60x60&_nc_cat=101&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=GzZGZ0FTgYAQ7kNvgEpSUFD&_nc_oc=Adi4WgttuDNzdNUVCRpz95wiXFWkESZBZIKLrEkx9NMCrLX5eCHgQd8FjTKbh_1Hik-HGix2aZQXwRE3ZKJJP4ng&_nc_ht=scontent-dfw5-1.xx&oh=00_AfCO1rzo_4jwiT8NOrj0v6F6Shpn2QZo1kvJNUaK7Fj4UQ&oe=663B3B7F | person_profile | 0 | OasisStory | https://scontent-dfw5-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/440381969_414999614844270_8159454917694561858_n.jpg?_nc_cat=103&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=nRBqk8h9ADEQ7kNvgF_Vrxh&_nc_ht=scontent-dfw5-1.xx&oh=00_AfDRBPsRiNPWHOCOvLkLUTT6O2GLqSLogM4zP_xxf6yLgw&oe=663B4F0B | 0 | 3 | OasisStory | 0 | 0 | 2024-05-03 02:00 | View Edit Delete

I want her OUT now. I command you to reject her!”
“Babe, don’t be like that!” he whispers.
"Then you stay together, Adam! I want to divorce you."
————————
My name is Natalie.
I am 23 years old and I am the Luna of the Red Blood Pack. I’ve been Luna since I married Adam three years ago and even if we were not fated mates I’ve done my job in the interest of this pack outstandingly. I am the best on what I am doing. In the Alpha’s community I’ve never seen a Luna more involved and more altruistic.
So being in this position now is making me wonder what is happening. I must be dreaming. I must be under some kind of a nightmare effect because this can’t be real.
“Why did you do it, bad woman?” my gamma asks me and hits me again, making me fall to the ground. And another whip comes out of nowhere. Oh my goddess… Please, I need an answer. I need to know. What is happening with me?
I lift my face and I look directly into my abuser eyes. I know him and he knows me. He knows that I am his Luna. We grew up together and he swore his oath to me three years ago and now he is whipping me like I am some kind of criminal?
“Why are you beating me?” I say trying to look at his with dignity.
“I asked you something, Bill?” I say again trying to support myself in my arms as I am kneeled on the ground of my cell.
“What harm have I ever done to be treated like this?”
But Bill throws me a furious gaze:
“You know what you have done!” and out of nowhere another whip comes on my back ripping my flesh.
“Kelly…”I whisper to my wolf and my head falls between my arms hitting the ground.
“Kelly it hurts too much…” and my tears started to flow on my cheeks even if I tried, I really tried to resist and be brave but I can’t do it anymore so I lean on the floor.
“Can you help me, Kelly? Can you heal me?” I ask my wolf.
“I want to, Natalie” she groans in pain. “but I can’t do it anymore. I am too weak. He is beating us for hours” and I can hear her howls. She is begging the gods for help. Where is my Goddess right now? I don’t deserve this.
“Please” I whisper and try again to lift my head.
“What is going on, Bill? Whatever is happening here you must know that it is just a misunderstanding. ” and I placed my head on the ground so I could watch him as I spoke to him.
“You fooled us, bad woman!” Bill growls at me. “You made us think that you are a good woman but you are just a malicious woman with no heart” and he lifts his arm in the air to hit me again.
I know I can’t escape from this. He even gave me wolfsbane so I could become weak and submit to him. I have no chance. I have no power in this.
“I swear to you, Bill” I say in a whisper “I have no idea what are you talking about…”
“Then how is it that her pup is dead, huh?” Bill asks and slaps me hard over my face “How is that our little Alpha is dead?”
WHAT? What little Alpha? Who is dead?
“Don’t look at me as if you have no idea what is going on, bad woman!” he says and slaps me. “You killed Lexie’s baby! Our pack’s heir!”
Lexie's unborn pup is dead?
“I didn’t do it!” I scream with all the strength that was left in me. I would never do that!
“I didn’t touch her! It is not my fault if she aborted her pup!” I tell him and now my heart started to beat faster and faster.
“Don’t touch me!” he growls at me.
“I love you, Adam. I would never…” but he turns his back to me and grabbing Lexie’s hand he commands Phillip.
“Prepare everything. Tomorrow I will execute her!”
“You can’t do that!” I growl at him. “This is a set up!” but he just left, dragging Lexie after him.
“Just a moment,” she says. “I need to ask her something.” she excuses herself.
“I am not leaving you alone with a criminal” Adam says and let me tell you. He is the criminal here, because he is killing me with his actions.
“She can’t hurt me anymore” Lexie tells him and gives him a nod . “Not now when I know the truth. Please” she begs him with her fake soft voice.
“I will give you five minutes and if you are not in bed, Lexie, I swear to the goddess that I am going to beat you.” he commands her but she just smiles and pecks his cheek.
“I promise, my Alpha”
“Bad woman!” Kelly growls “She is doing it on purpose!” and she would like to transform and kill Lexie , but she can’t even heal me.
“So?” Lexie asks me as soon as we are alone. “How is it to lose everything?” and she starts to laugh like crazy.
“Why are you staring at me like this?” she asks me, mocking me. “You were such an easy target,” she says, wrapping her arms at her chest. “
“You framed me out!” I told her while I supported myself on a wall so I could sit on my feet. “This is your work” I say and I know that I am right and for the first time in my life , my heart is full of hatred. I hate Lexie Banks. At this moment I even hate Adam for not believing in me, for hurting me so badly.
“Of course it was my work. I saw Adam three years ago, on the day of your wedding and I knew he was my mate, but I couldn’t just show up so I waited. It is said that whoever waits until the end will receive his reward, well I waited and planned everything.”
And she laughs at me , looking at her nails.
“I will miss you dad” I whisper, giving my dad a last look, and I see him falling on his knees.
“I will miss you Kelly” I whisper and I would like to hug my wolf if I could, to tell her that I am not mad at her for not being able to defend me , but this is above us. This is a betrayal I could never imagine that I will face.
I see Adam in front of me but he is not watching me. He just lifted the sword and pierced my heart. He kicks me with his foot and makes me fall on the ground while the crowd cheers in madness , and my father collapses for good.
“Kelly” I whisper, feeling dizzy. “This is it. This is the end.” and my eyelashes started to flutter as I was not able not even to keep my eyes open for a few more seconds.
All I could see was my blood flowing on the ground.
Because it is way too late to change anything.
“Natalie!!!! Natalie , please wake up!”
Who is calling me? I know that voice…
“Please, Nat, open your eyes! Open you eyes woman, and help me exist this tornado or dark hole or whatever it is because I am going to vomit!”
Kelly? Kelly is calling me? But it can’t be. I just…! Adam killed me…why can I still hear Kelly?
“Open your eyes now!” Kelly growled at me and as if her command was mandatory I found myself opening my eyes just to become perplexed.
Where am I?
“It’s a dark hole, I am telling you. We are in another dimension!” Kelly said and I can feel her emotions. She is confused and scared for having no idea what is going on.
Maybe I am in heaven, but heaven can’t be so cold and lonely. If this is heaven I am in big nonsense. I lived my life doing good things for nothing.
“Do you like it?” suddenly a woman’s voice asks me from behind, making me startle. I thought that I am alone here.
I looked at her and my heart stopped. It can’t be, but she looks just the way I’ve heard. Tall, slim, with white blonde hair long until her waist, braided and decorated with little shining stars. Her skin is so white and pure that you could say that she doesn’t have even a drop of blood in her system, and maybe she doesn’t. Maybe she is dead too…
“Stop blabbering in your own head ,Natalie,” the woman told me and motioned to me to come closer and I just followed her command without blinking.
“You are the Moon Goddess” I say in awareness. I am staying in front of the Moon Goddess, this is how dead I am.
“I am” she says and stops and watches the scenery.
“Is this heaven?” I ask her and she turns her head and asks me.
“Do you like this place?” but her eyes make me confused. They are like two shining turquoise gems and at this moment they are making me look in another direction, because her gaze on me is too powerful.
“I love this place, but why am I here?” I ask her.
“Isn’t it clear?” and she looks again at her white wolves that salute us every time they run close to us. “You are dead”.
“I know that, can I stay here?” I asked her, or better said, begged her but the goddess didn't answer.
And I just sit there and wait for her to tell me that she was just waiting for me, but instead the goddess is mute.
“No you can’t!” she simply says and looks at me.
“But I only did good deeds while living on earth!” and I feel that I will die again right now. “Don’t send me to underworld!” I almost cry.
“Underworld? Who said anything about underworld, Natalie?” the Moon Goddess asked me.
“BUt…” What is she talking about?
“I am sending you back, Natalie” she says and I start to laugh, because she must be mocking me. Is this some kind of test?
“Well in this case you don’t give me any option” and the moment she said that two strong arms pulled me from behind and threw me through a darkened tunnel. Everything was spinning around me.
“Help me!” I scream “Take me out of here!” and I would like to add and send me anywhere but not to the Red Blood Pack, but before I could say that I found myself in the middle of my bed, in my and Adam’s room.
Oh goddess…she send me back. I pinch myself and it hurts like underworld. I look again around me and it is my room but it looks decorated like almost three years ago, when me and Adam just got married.
“Please, send me back to heaven” I whispered in my mind, closing my eyes but no one answered, except the door that hit the wall. And now I died again. Is this why she sent me back? To make me relive the most horrible episode of my life?
“Get out of the bed, Natalie!” Adam tells me as he is caring for a woman that looks wounded in his arms, which now I know is Lexie, his fated mate. But you see? First time he did this my heart hurted like and I just kept my mouth closed but now I am not able to react the same way, so I wrap my arms around my chest , I lean on my pillow and I ask him.
“What are you doing, Adam. Take her out of my bedroom! Are you out of your mind to bring this woman in our bed?”
“I can’t” he tells me, and of course I know he can’t do it, because he is a cowardly weak man.
“She is my fated mate, Natalie. I found her.”
“So what?” I ask him. He marked me and it doesn’t matter anymore if she is his mate or not. I am his Luna and he swore that if at some point he will find her he will reject her.
“What do you do with that?” He asks while still holding her and I can see the bimbo grabbing his shirt and wiping her tears. Everything is just bad theater and now I am able to see it.
“Throw her away!” I tell him without even breathing. I didn’t get forced to reincarnate just to make the same mistakes and be submitted and weak in front of Adam. The bimbo must stay out of my life. I know now what she is looking for.
“Are you nuts, Natalie? I can’t do that to her!” and holding her tight Adam says.
“She is a rogue and an omega. She will not put her feet on our pack!”
And with that I get out of the bed and pointing my finger in his direction, I say just before I exit our bedroom.
“Get rid of her!”
“You can’t be serious, Natalie!” he says trying to refrain himself from showing me how pissed off he is about my reaction.
“But I am, Adam. I am your Luna and here is my statement.” and squinting my eyes at him I point with my index finger in Lexie’s direction.
“If she stays here, I am out and you will need to explain a lot of things to our pack and to your family about that! It’s me or her.” I say as if it is nothing and turn my back to him ignoring Lexie’s presence and making her boil for sure.
“Leave me alone, Adam!” and I push him away from me.
“You can’t bring this woman here!” I say and Lexie starts to cry as if I just pushed a button and a soap operas or namby-pamby show started instantly.
“And after you come here with ehr to think that I will just smile and say, oh babe, I am so happy, please let her stay! I am to the moon and back with happiness because you found your fated mate!”
“Are you insecure, Natalie?” Adam asks and looks at me with a stupid grin on his face but he makes me turn around completely and pointing to my face I ask seriously.
“Do I look insecure, dear husband?”
“Look, I just want to know that she is safe. If this is about your Luna position I promise you”
And here he starts.
“I promise you that nothing will change. You are my Luna, Natalie. The woman I love and that will never change” and he looks at me with a complex gaze, I already saw this in the past, and I am so angry that out of love for him I believed his nonsense.
He comes close to me and I look at him as he is taking my hands between his palms and pecking the tip of my fingers as he watches me.
“Please babe,” he whispers, “I promise that nothing will change. I love you and only you. It doesn't matter that she is my fated mate. I chose you . I will always do it again and again.” and he gives me a smile, but that smile only makes me want to punch him.
“Do you really love me?” I ask him, and I can see with the corner of my eyes how Lexie’s face becomes happy thinking that in the end I will allow her to stay in the Red Blood Pack.
“With everything I have” he tells me and leans in my direction to peck me , but before he could do it I push him and say.
“Then reject her and terminate the fated mate bond. I want her OUT now. I command you to reject her!”
And I am so furious that he becomes pale.
You don’t like what you see, Adam? Well this is your work. You killed my spirit , now enjoy it! I know that he is shocked that he is not used to me resisting him. Every time I was submitting to him but that is over now.
“Babe, don’t be like that!” he whispers.
“Natalie!” Adam calls me, but I just walk away and push everyone in my way.
I didn’t even have time to adapt to this new life that the danger is already above my head.
“Babe!” Adam says coming after me , but I motion to him to stop.
“Just stay there, Adam!” I tell him. “I am sick of you!”
And his eyes became angry hearing me.
“I need to be alone!” and saying that I ran to the forest.
I need to clear my mind!
“Natalie!” Adam called me and I could hear him running after me. Just tried to stop me, you jerk! Just try it.
I ran outside the packhouse and in one jump in the air I let Kelly take control. This is our first shift after I came back from death's arms. I need this like air. I need to calm down or I am going to kill every single person that hurt me in my past, and by past I mean my former life.
“Natalie! Stop it right now!” he shouts but I don’t care.
“”Take us to our place, girl!” I tell Kelly and she runs directly into the forest, jumping from cliffs and giving me the ride of her life until Adam’s voice can’t be heard anymore.
I can see her white paws hitting the ground in her attempt to exhaust herself to the point where every single cell of our system will be so tired that we will just rest and close our eyes, and stay there in peace.
I can see her reflection in the water while she stops for a second to lick some water from the river and she is so beautiful that I want to cry. She is the best gift I received from the gods. The best wolf ever.
Calm and good hearted. Strong and powerful at the same time and so beautiful. I suppose that her appearance was what made Adam claim me. Kelly is as big as his wolf and he is an Alpha by birth while I was born as a beta. Completely white and with clear sky blue eyes she is perfect. She doesn’t deserve the Adam put us though.
She deserves to be happy. We should have stayed in heaven, because let me tell you. This is the underworld. Coming here, coming back is pure underworld!
I have no idea how long we run but now seeing her reflection, seeing the moonlight over Kelly put me in front of a decision. I will make everyone pay!
“Nat,” Kelly suddenly says. “Stop thinking that you offered love to a man who didn't deserve it. He certainly needed your love, even if he never understood it." and I can feel Kelly’s pain. She loved him too. She loves his wolf too.
“You know , Nat.” she whispers with pain but with relief at the same time. “He didn’t know that he needed you, but you needed to offer him that love. You are the best human I know. Your heart is pure” she tells me and that enrages me.
For her, even for me. What good is to be so good if in the end everyone hurts you?
“Kelly” I say and I am gritting my teeth.
“I swear to you that they will pay for what they did to us.” I tell her and she takes a step back and looks around.
There is a meadow from where we can watch the sky that looks magnificent right now. Tonight is the Supermoon. It’s Sturgeon Moon and she looks so close that I can feel that I can touch it.
“Can you shift?” I ask Kelly and she is giving me back the control, letting me transform back in human form. This is our perfect place, where we have been since I was a child. This is my happy place on Earth. Far enough from Red Blood Pack, but still on its territory, on the shore of crystal clear mountain lake and with the night’s sky above my head. What could I ask for more?
“Just relax, Nat” Kelly whispers and I walk to the meadow and lean on the grass and place my hands under my head watching the beautiful moon.
“Why did you bring me back?” I ask the goddess and I know that this is something for me to find out, because she didn’t explain anything to me, she just said that I need to come back for the safety of our world.
I am nobody in this world. Just the Luna of this bloody pack.
I am lying completely undressed as if I am tanning at the moonlight and questions after questions are pop-ing into my mind. There are so many why me, so many what if and even more why now.
I laid there lost in my thoughts and I didn’t even realize when a foreign scent filled the air.
“God, Kelly!” I say jumping on my feet.
“Who is there?” I ask scared. Is not a scent from our pack. Holy whoever is here is watching me undressed!
And before I could do or say another word I looked around and grabbed the clothes that Kelly carried here during our run. I almost feel those eyes on me, and a manly scent, is someone that emanates a lot of power, but where is he hiding?
“Just dress and run, Nat!” Kelly whispers a little bit taken aback.
I dressed myself with the light speed and I just fled out of here, without looking back. Whoever was here watching me can't be here with good intentions.
I ran as fast as I could and jumped over the river and cliffs and just when I was ready to turn my head back and see if someone was coming after me something hard hit me.
“What , Natalie!” a voice asks as I try to lift myself from the ground, completely
shocked from my encounter with…Phillip. Phillip our beta? What is he doing here?
“Natalie, are you alright?” He asks as he offers me his hand and helps me lift from the ground.
“Yeah, I was just looking back...I thought...”I say but looking at him a strange idea came to my mind. Was he the one who was watching me?
“No, he smells different” Kelly whispers , sniffing the air. “That was not a scent from our pack.”
“What are you doing here, Phillip? “ I ask him and take a look back, but trying to look confident as if nothing happened.
“I was patrolling the area and I caught a foreign scent. It’s a wolf from another pack that entered here without permission” he says and that made my heart jump.
Kelly was right. But who was the mysterious man ? Was he a pervert? Why would he watch an undressed woman from behind the trees? And I can’t focus on thinking about this strange man.
“Natalie, you shouldn’t walk alone at this hour with that stranger around. We don’t know his intentions, if he just got lost or if he is here with evil intentions. I am driving you home” he tells me and motions when I walk.
“I can walk alone, you know? I am not five to babysit me, Phillip” I tell him and look back again.
And I see him pushing an omega that just appeared into his way as he enters the packhouse.
“I want to divorce” I say and I can’t believe that I am saying this but this is what I want.
“I want to divorce!”
That’s it! I made my mind. I need to divorce him. Staying in this relationship it’s like deja-vu. Even if he rejected her this time, that is not helping me at all. She is still here, isn’t she? She will push herself over him until he can't live without her anymore.
His stupid wolf wants his fated mate.
So, yeah, there is no need for me to make the same mistakes again.
Old habits die hard... I guess. She will frame again so why not take care of my safety by myself? Why not show them what it means to work against a woman who love with all her heart a traitor husband.
Adam will never control me over life or death. I will be in control of my actions! | LEARN_MORE | https://a.weloveread.com/ad/bG92ZXJlYWQvMTY1MzAxLz | 108519758876183 | Fun001 | https://facebook.com/100091460748268 | 192 | 1 | 1,170,456,437,500,952 | 2024-05-03 02:00 | person_profile | eligible | 0 | 0 | NONE | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | Learn more | 0 | Fun001 | 120209901418330615 | a.weloveread.com | NONE | video | https://a.weloveread.com/ad/bG92ZXJlYWQvMTY1MzAxLzIwMjQwNDI4MTQ0NDA5L3BhZ2U=?adid={{ad.id}} | 2024-04-28 01:47 | https://scontent-iad3-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/439614075_755884993329108_3219215785425236971_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_s60x60&_nc_cat=103&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=lQIJFxHN4pIQ7kNvgG9meml&_nc_ht=scontent-iad3-2.xx&oh=00_AfAgb8rUu7hoQ4aeCmntEgulo4TdUCzS3KiRc6pV5dO2Eg&oe=663B369E | person_profile | 0 | Fun001 | https://scontent-iad3-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/439966724_982346199910800_6882714370416796287_n.jpg?_nc_cat=109&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=rEBe8A_zx5EQ7kNvgG9ALiW&_nc_ht=scontent-iad3-2.xx&oh=00_AfCqnBeRrCY5Pt24DrS7Lpcgk5Fuy-KNEUBREMbfikEN4g&oe=663B6462 | 0 | 3 | Fun001 | 0 | 0 | 2024-05-03 02:00 | View Edit Delete

"Before you leave, you must apologize to Kelly!" | LEARN_MORE | https://www.yumread.com/share/middle/kh4cejimwjt2x | 101489936134366 | OasisStory | https://facebook.com/100087803393468 | 29,408 | 0 | 314,955,531,693,405 | 2024-05-03 02:00 | person_profile | eligible | 0 | 0 | NONE | 0 | 1 | 0 | 0 | Learn more | 0 | OasisStory | 120208841186570267 | www.yumread.com | NONE | video | https://www.yumread.com/share/middle/kh4cejimwjt2xx14x02sedkp?ad_id={{ad.id}}&sid=120208841178380267&campaign={{campaign.name}}&adgroup={{adset.name}} | 2024-05-03 05:56 | https://scontent-dfw5-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/441261332_1590256198439008_3071844186337157659_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_s60x60&_nc_cat=105&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=VuyFF-flWt8Q7kNvgFURtu5&_nc_ht=scontent-dfw5-1.xx&oh=00_AfC0EyXG_HyB781F_ztikzGCR4UL9JCPo_pfqSuPPk2FEg&oe=663B50BB | person_profile | 0 | OasisStory | https://scontent-dfw5-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/440431210_282554451591162_255419048621712054_n.jpg?_nc_cat=101&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=jrfTduCFKq0Q7kNvgER6_ne&_nc_ht=scontent-dfw5-1.xx&oh=00_AfCArOI3-FBFUkGQrv2Fc3SHJlslY8wL4zqkQg4M2B0KGA&oe=663B3336 | 0 | 3 | OasisStory | 0 | 0 | 2024-05-03 02:00 | View Edit Delete

Yes | 2024-05-03 20:05 | active | 733 | 0 | 626627339668483 | 🔥🔥 Click to Read 👉🏻👉🏻 | I'm pregnant.
I can't believe this. Josh and I are going to have a baby.
But I didn't get a chance to tell him the news. He's gone.
He's gone, and left me with our baby growing in my stomach.
He left me.

Four years later, on my friend’s wedding.
"Who is the last groomsmen?" Rebecca asked clearly not seeing the look on my face.
"Josh," Elena said the one name that made my world come crashing down.
This is going to be a wonderful wedding.
___________
It has officially been four years since Josh left me and all his friends and family here in San Diego. A lot has changed. My beautiful daughters, Brynlee Reese and Keegan Ryder, are now three years old. My dad died from brain cancer last year after battling long enough to see his granddaughters turn two. He loved them more than anything. It's been hard for us, especially my mom, but we're getting by. I graduated from the University of San Diego last year with a teaching degree in English, and am going on my second year of teaching at my old high school, Fremont High School. Jordyn, my 17 year old sister, is a junior there.
Ever since my pregnancy, I've had help from my family, Josh's family, and our friends. I couldn't really hide Josh's daughters from his parents since the girls are their granddaughters, and they promised not to tell him. Let's just say that they weren't too pleased with how Josh left. I've tried to tell Josh about Brynlee and Keegan, but he doesn't answer any of my calls or I chickened out. Cory and Tyler have offered to tell him since he actually keeps in contact with them, along with his family, but I want him to hear it from me. Now, I think it's a little too late to tell him especially since he's happy on his own. He's off playing professional baseball for the New York Yankees while dating multiple girls, according to the gossip sites.
Josh's sister, Delaney, got married last year at a destination wedding that only included close family members. I was invited since the girls are her nieces, but I declined the invitation knowing I would have to see him. She is now a pediatrician while her husband, Landon Gray, took over his father's oil company. My best friend, Elena Pratt, just graduated from nursing school and started her new job at the local hospital. She is also currently engaged to Tyler Stephens, Josh and I's best friend. They've been dating since our junior year of high school. Tyler works alongside Landon as the financial manager. Cory Sutton, Josh and I's other best friend, is now a gym teacher and baseball coach at Fremont High School. He was suppose to become a professional baseball player like Josh, but he suffered a serious shoulder injury which ended his playing days. Teaching was always his backup.
The continuous jumping on my bed followed by loud giggles disturbed my sleep. My eyes fluttered open to see two toddlers wide awake.
"Mommy!" Keegan screamed as she jumped onto me with the intention of a hug. Her knotted brown hair fell to the sides of her face as her big brown eyes gleamed with excitement. Brynlee continued jumping as her blonde hair bounced with her.
"Good morning to you girlies too," I responded hugging Keegan as Brynlee cuddled to my side. "What do you girls want for breakfast?"
"WAFFLES!" They both squealed jumping from the bed as they ran out of my bedroom. I then got up from the comfort of my bed sheets and put my fuzzy gray robe on over my pajamas that consisted of shorts and an old t-shirt. When I reached the kitchen, the girls were there digging the Eggo waffles out of the freezer.
"Can you put the box on the counter for me?" I asked as I pulled out the toaster from one of the many cabinets. Keegan did as I told her and then ran to the living room with Brynlee following behind. She then turned on the TV to their favorite show, Doc McStuffins. I put three waffles into the toaster and waited for them to pop back out when they were done.
Looking over at the girls brought back memories. I was absolutely shocked when I found out I was having twins.
I laid down waiting for the doctor to enter while my mom sat in the nearby chair. I anxiously played with my long painted nails looking down at my small bump. Soon enough the doctor came into the room.
"Hello, I'm Dr. Valente. You must be Sabrina and her mom," she greeted shaking my mom's hand then moving over to me. "Are we ready to see the little one?"
I nodded my head as she instructed what to do before putting the gel on my stomach. She had the screen pointed towards her allowing me to only see the shocked expression on her face.
"What's wrong?" I asked suddenly worried.
"Nothing's wrong, but it looks like you're having twins." The minute the words came out of her mouth, my jaw dropped to the floor.
I'm having two babies.
The sudden sound of waffles popping out of the toaster brought me back to reality. I began to fix me and the girls a plate before calling them over to the dining table. As they scooped pieces of the waffle into their mouth, I got a text from Elena.
Are you on your way??
Yes but we might be a little late.
I completely lost track of time and now we're going to be late for Elena's meeting with her wedding planner. Since I'm the maid of honor, she wants me there too.
It's currently 10:25, and we have to be at her house at 10:30 which is a 7 minute drive. Great.
"Girls, go brush your teeth and then come to your bedroom," I instructed grabbing the empty plates from the table and rinsing them off in the sink. They sprinted off to the bathroom while I went to pick out their outfits for today.
I pulled two matching floral dresses from their closet as they came running in. I then grabbed their white converses and helped them get dressed.
Once finished they ran to the living room where Doc McStuffins was still playing on the TV. While they were occupied, I ran over to my room to get myself dressed. I put on a simple black and white striped button up that was halfway tucked into light denim shorts. I then slipped on sandals before pulling my blonde hair into a high ponytail.
After brushing my teeth and putting on my makeup, I got the girls out the apartment door and we headed to the car. I buckled them into their car seats and started the car. When Will My Life Begin from Tangled played non stop the whole car ride.
We soon arrived to Elena and Tyler's house. Once Keegan was free from the buckles, she sprinted from where the car was parked on the driveway into Tyler's arms. As soon as he saw the car pull in, he slammed the door open ready to see his nieces. Brynlee, on the other hand, was fast asleep in her car seat. She stirred slightly when I picked her up, and then laid her head on my shoulder.
"Is someone sleepy?" I asked in the voice you make when talking to a child. She then nodded with her eyes still closed making me chuckle.
I entered into the house to see Elena and another woman sitting at the kitchen counter. They didn't notice me at first until Bryn let out a little yawn.
"Hey Sab, this is Rebecca, my wedding planner. Rebecca, this is my best friend and maid of honor, Sabrina," Elena introduced. I smiled at the red-headed woman in front of me. Rebecca had to be in her mid-forties, but she was in incredible shape.
"It's nice to meet," I greeted shaking her hand. "I need to lay this little one down somewhere so I'll be right back."
I walked out of the kitchen and into the living room were Keegan and Tyler were both watching Peppa Pig. I set Bryn on the couch and she immediately cuddled into Tyler's side.
"How's the little princess?" Ty asked cuddling her.
"Sleepy," I answered. "Well I need to go back to your fianc茅e so make sure they don't injure themselves."
"Are you still holding that against me?"
"You dropped my daughter."
"So what do we have so far?" I asked coming back into the kitchen after a small argument with Tyler. I won!
"The color scheme is going to be burgundy and gold. We've also set the date for November 6 which is a Saturday," Elena answered as I sat in the chair next to her.
"Now we'll discuss who's in the wedding and the smaller details like decorations," Rebecca directed. "So who all is in the wedding?"
"Well we have both of our parents. Sabrina is my maid of honor. Tyler's best friend, Cory, is his best man. Our flower girls are Keegan and Brynlee, Sabrina's daughters. The ring bearer is Tyler's cousin, Nathan."
"Okay, what about bridesmaids and groomsmen?"
"For bridesmaids, I have Delaney, Angela, Kelly, Haley, and Jordyn," she listed. Delaney is Josh's sister which we are both really close to. Angela and Kelly are two soon-to-be nurses that Elena met at med school. Haley is her 14 year old sister while Jordyn is my sister.
"For the groomsmen, there is Landon, Calum, Griffin, Scott, and..." her voice faded as she looked over at me with a worried look as I just gave her a confused look back. Landon is Delaney's husband and Tyler's boss/ friend. Calum is a buddy from college. Griffin is Tyler's 17 year old brother, and Scott is his 12 year old brother.
Who else is there... wait.
I immediately changed my confused expression to one of horror.
"Who is the last groomsmen?" Rebecca asked clearly not seeing the look on my face.
"Josh," Elena said the one name that made my world come crashing down.
This is going to be a wonderful wedding.
Josh's POV
I was sitting on my tan couch looking at the muted TV in front of me as I waited for Tyler to answer his phone. Luckily, he answered on the third ring.
"Hey man, shouldn't you being doing something baseball related?" He asked.
"Hey," I greeted. "Today is my day off."
"Ah, so why are you calling me at 8 in the morning on your day off? You should be sleeping in."
"I guess I'm just use to waking up early," I lied knowing that I didn't even sleep last night. I mean how could I? This penthouse is quite lonely when you're actually in it. I'm barely ever here due to playing. When I am here I tend to think, and thinking leads to no sleep.
Most of the time, I am out like a light when I hit my bed since training wore me out, but I wasn't necessarily tired.
"We both know that's a lie. You didn't sleep last night did you?"
He knows me too well.
"Maybe."
"Is it about Sabrina?" He asked already knowing the answer to that question. It's always about her. She's in my mind all the time. I like to use playing and partying as a way to forget about her, but it never works. I even try to get with other girls, but back out when it comes to taking them home. They're just not her.
"Can we not talk about it?" I asked ready to change the subject. "What are you doing right now?"
"It's 8 o'clock on a Monday morning. What do you think I'm doing?"
"Sorry. Did I interrupt anything at work?" I cringe knowing I didn't even think about him possibly being busy.
"Nah, I just got here," he said knowing I would feel guilty for interrupting something.
"You're a jerk."
"I know. Now why are you calling me?"
"Can't I just say hi to my friend?"
"Not when we literally talked last night about the wedding," he reminded. Last night, after the meeting with the wedding planner, he gave me the details of the date so I could work it out with my schedule. That also reminds me that I need to talk to Coach.
"Fine," I gave in. "I just want to know how she is."
"Sabrina is fine. Today is actually the first day of school."
"Was she nervous?"
"Why don't you ask her yourself?" These past few years, I've constantly asked Cory and Tyler how Sab was doing. They would get annoyed every once in a while, and they were pretty mad at me when I first left. I completely understand though. What I did was a bad move, but there's no way to take it back.
"Because if I call her and hear her voice, I know I'm going to automatically get a plane ticket to San Diego."
"You're going to have to see her at the wedding though."
"I know."
"Cory, if you don't hurry up, I'm leaving your hip here," I heard her growl out.
Sabrina.
The sound of her voice just hit me. It hasn't changed one bit, and man do I miss it.
"Well I got to go. See you soon," he ended the call leaving me to think about her.
I have exactly 2 weeks until I see her again, and I'm not sure if I'm completely ready.

Sabrina's POV
Now it's time for lunch, and I'm craving some Panera. Cory and I both have a lunch break now since we don't have classes during lunch period. I'm currently making my way toward the gym to meet with him so we can drive over to Panera Bread.
"Cory, if you don't hurry up, I'm leaving your hip here," I practically yelled out after barging into his office.
"Well I got to go. See you soon," Cory said into his phone making me realize that he was taking to someone.
"Was that an important phone call?"
"No, it was just Josh," he spoke.
"What'd he want?" I said with a disgusted tone as we walked toward his car.
"Just talking about the wedding."
When we finally got to Panera, I jumped out of the car wanting nothing more than a good sandwich. With Cory following behind, I entered and stood in line ready to order.
"Did he say when he was coming back? I need to prepare myself." I said worried of what would happen when he sees the girls or when I finally see him in person for the first time in four years.
What if I blurt out that he's a father? What if he figures it out on his own?
"He's coming September 10," Cory replied with a concerned face as I gave him one of horror.
"That's not enough time."
"Enough time for what?"
"For me to change my name and leave the country."
"Sabrina," he gave me a stern look. "I think it's time to tell him about Keegan and Brynlee. He deserves to know."
"I know, and I'll try," I said. "If I don't tell him by the time he leaves then you have my permission to tell him yourself."

Josh's POV
I walked out of the gym with my shirt hanging over my shoulder, my water bottle in one hand, and my phone in the other. Before I made it to my car, a blonde girl stood in front of my door.
"Hello, hot stuff," she greeted with a smirk and a wink.
"Hi?" I questioned wondering who this woman is.
"I'm Tiffany, and I was just about to go to the gym when I saw you," she explained.
"You were about to go to the gym in jeans?" I asked taking in her outfit. Does she think I'm stupid?
"Yeah-," she was cut off by the sound of my phone ringing. I looked down to see it was Cory calling.
"I have to take this," I stated as she moved away from the door allowing me to get in my car. I immediately answered the phone while also starting the car.
"Hey man, what's up?" I greeted as I pulled out of the parking lot leaving the girl standing there.
"Nothing much. I actually need your help coming up with ideas for Tyler's bachelor party."
"Well Tyler is a kid at heart, so I would definitely do something fun like a trampoline park or an amusement park," I responded as I heard loud squeals in the background. It's sounds like an actual child.
"Hold on," he told me. "Keegan get down from the counter you're going to fall."
Who's Keegan?
"Okay, I'm back," he stated after a long pause filled with giggles. "A trampoline park sounds great."
"Yeah," I agreed still confused. "Who's Keegan?"
"Oh-," he was cut off by the sound of cries. "Brynlee, what did your mother say about running down the stairs? Hey man, I have to go. Talk to you later."
Before I could respond back, he hung up.
Who is Keegan? Who is Brynlee? Whose kids are they? Did Cory have kids without telling me? | LEARN_MORE | https://b.choicesnovel.com/ad/Y2hlcnJ5ZmljdGlvbi8x | 196946380158891 | Cho005 | https://facebook.com/61553848687555 | 7 | 1 | 807,914,840,782,763 | 2024-05-03 02:00 | person_profile | eligible | 0 | 0 | NONE | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | Learn more | 0 | Cho005 | 120208229701410733 | b.choicesnovel.com | NONE | video | https://b.choicesnovel.com/ad/Y2hlcnJ5ZmljdGlvbi8xNjUzNjAvMjAyNDA0MjgxNDQ2MzMvcGFnZQ==?adid={{ad.id}} | 2024-04-28 01:53 | https://scontent-iad3-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/440820717_1620699315415887_5950177551149055095_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_s60x60&_nc_cat=100&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=Whdo-r89dCwQ7kNvgFf8Ycz&_nc_ht=scontent-iad3-2.xx&oh=00_AfABON7fNrVQqnszuAsDfDfhWY6Bo_aDg1clqrgLYFW1mQ&oe=663B4EFD | person_profile | 0 | Cho005 | https://scontent-iad3-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/440811548_807295797526799_3652919401499556693_n.jpg?_nc_cat=103&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=4G1l7i0IVxEQ7kNvgFA1omL&_nc_ht=scontent-iad3-2.xx&oh=00_AfC_XopSpzuHTyUsownpX2uGTEthqUC0v9p3R4HG4x94BQ&oe=663B549A | 0 | 3 | Cho005 | 0 | 0 | 2024-05-03 02:00 | View Edit Delete

Let's go. I can hardly wait." | LEARN_MORE | https://www.yumread.com/share/middle/hi4orr0xtkbxs | 119497494574812 | Lereader-Great Novel | https://facebook.com/61550087387871 | 190 | 1 | 1,095,003,768,277,737 | 2024-05-03 02:00 | person_profile | eligible | 0 | 0 | NONE | 0 | 1 | 0 | 0 | Learn more | 0 | Lereader-Great Novel | 120207843177020449 | www.yumread.com | NONE | video | https://www.yumread.com/share/middle/hi4orr0xtkbxsaqtqgsdgqx3?ad_id={{ad.id}}&sid=120207843123710449&campaign={{campaign.name}}&adgroup={{adset.name}} | 2024-05-02 22:22 | https://scontent-ord5-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/440465978_1066495231502001_7085341335774483859_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_s60x60&_nc_cat=105&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=xUe4wrUNY3AQ7kNvgHIfTWt&_nc_oc=Adj6fv7Y3IOoqmQ7-oxWPn4qlz3UcLoKAA59f1_ofVo0JnpC4QoLlKub5FZMHKOglR8&_nc_ht=scontent-ord5-2.xx&oh=00_AfDmyz8VrD367TVXRyI4-2XZzL8G6AoXcrfWbDIImySNGg&oe=663B357F | person_profile | 0 | Lereader-Great Novel | https://scontent-ord5-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/440323139_449934064175496_3872136841966431996_n.jpg?_nc_cat=102&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=NcJM9YUxhJAQ7kNvgEO3Kh2&_nc_ht=scontent-ord5-2.xx&oh=00_AfCnWpCEa4j3o9uIbJX3CYLrA52W1XQd8nEYxJWeLxVdPA&oe=663B5F40 | 0 | 3 | Lereader-Great Novel | 0 | 0 | 2024-05-03 02:00 | View Edit Delete

Let's go.
