No 2024-03-17 19:14 active 272 0 437647268683778 🔥🔥 Click to Read 👉🏻👉🏻 &quot;You&#039;re marked by another,&quot; he stated cooly, his eyes drilling into the puncture wound that decorated my neck.<br /> &quot; So what? I&#039;m a mated wolf now, which means I was never meant to be yours.&quot;<br /> &quot; What was made for me will forever be mine. That pup that you went and played with can&#039;t stop me from tearing that mark off your shoulder.&quot;<br /> My eyes snapped up to his in surprise as I gawked in disbelief ... and a little ounce of foreboding at the man before me, &quot;y-you can&#039;t do that!&quot;<br /> He raised an eyebrow, &quot;Oh? Are you gonna stop me?&quot;<br /> &quot; My mate would kill you!&quot;<br /> &quot;I&#039;M YOUR MATE! There isn&#039;t a person on this earth that could kill me, let alone your illegitimate child. You should be worried about what I&#039;ll do to HIM for forcing himself on MY WOMAN!&quot;<br /> I flinched and took a few cautious steps backwards. &quot;who are you?&quot;<br /> The man&#039;s lips tilted up into a ridiculing smile as he replied, &quot;I&#039;m the part of your soul that you chose to forsake.&quot;<br /> ————————<br /> I watched the blank expression he wore as he spoke with my father about our wedding arrangements.<br /> The Rogue King.<br /> That was his name.<br /> He was known for his tyranny and brutal methods, slaying anyone who ridiculed him and destroying any pack that bared their fangs at him.<br /> When his existence first came to be known to the world, everyone cursed and ridiculed him.<br /> They said he wasn&#039;t powerful enough to create a pack from a scattered bunch of criminals, madmen and refugees, yet he did.<br /> They said he wasn&#039;t capable enough to claim any territory for himself, yet he did.<br /> They said no wild man could ever gain acknowledgement from the world, yet he did.<br /> He was well known across the Continent.<br /> A feral man, raised by actual wolves instead of werewolves, abandoned by his parents at the age of 3, forced to reside in his wolf form for many years until he was an adult. He rose up from the shadows and became a beacon of hope for lone wolves without a pack.<br /> He was uncultured, dominant and ruthless yet his reign was easily solidified. After settling down into the werewolf world, he taught himself to talk like everyone else, read like everyone else and despite mixing into the packs in the surroundings, he looked down on their culture and instead created one of his own.<br /> Throughout this entire process, the Alpha King gave no commentary on these actions.<br /> His pack started out as a small group until it expanded and became what was known today as the Shadow Rogue pack. They were a group of people who acted more wolf than human. They went on instinct without thought and yet because of that it has made them successful in many of their battles.<br /> Their culture wasn&#039;t something I was fond of. They didn&#039;t care about their soulmates, they simply marked whoever they wanted and adapted the notion of choice mates.<br /> The Shadow Rogue pack became known as the third largest pack across the Continent, coming up closely behind the Everest pack and The Divine Alpha Kingdom, who housed the Alpha King, ruler of all werewolves.<br /> Now, where did I fit into the picture?<br /> Many packs feared yet revered the Shadow Rogue pack, so when they heard that the Alpha was looking for a mate in which to produce a heir, many Alphas or lower ranked parents offered up their daughters to the Rogue Alpha in exchange for more power and wealth. The unfortunate daughter who was chosen simply ended up being me. My father offered and he chose me. Sadly enough, there wasn&#039;t anything I could do about it but agree to follow what my father wanted and marry the dude.<br /> My father&#039;s pack was one of the smallest packs on the Continent, so my father came up with the perfect idea to unite our pack with the Alpha&#039;s so we could gain a higher status. He never really cared about what his daughter wanted, like perhaps I was hoping to search for and marry my actual mate or perhaps I was hoping to travel the world and discover new things but alas, even if I voiced my opinions, his decision wouldn&#039;t change. He just wanted the power that came behind being a member of the Shadow Rogue pack, giving up his only daughter to get it. There was no solution to this as I had no choice in the matter. I was trapped; I was always trapped.<br /> I watched as my father laughed and curried favor with the Rogue Alpha for quite a while before they finally parted ways. My father then began walking towards me, who stood peeking at the foyer entrance. My future &#039;husband and mate&#039; barely spared me a glance as he left our pack house.<br /> Father grinned at me in excitement and placed a heavy hand on my shoulder, &quot;Everything is set. The venue, menu and the documents to merge both packs. Your dress has been picked and our packs have been notified.&quot; he said excitedly, giving my shoulder a gentle squeeze.<br /> I reflexively shrugged his hand off of my shoulder and frowned, shaking my black curls hesitantly.<br /> &quot;I don&#039;t want to get married papa.&quot;<br /> Father&#039;s smile faltered and he sighed irately, trying his best to be coaxing. &quot;We&#039;ve been over this, Starr. You getting married to Alpha Zion will bring fortune to our pack. There&#039;s no time for your petty complaints. Don&#039;t be selfish. You know out of everyone here, I&#039;ll be the one who&#039;ll suffer having to part with you the most. So stop complaining otherwise I&#039;ll be forced to punish you, alright?&quot;<br /> I adverted my eyes and pursed my lips. In response, father grabbed a tight hold of my chin and pulled my face up to look at him. His sharp nails slightly elongated and dug into my soft flesh, causing me to wince in pain.<br /> &quot;Yes papa.&quot; my voice was a soft murmur yet he managed to hear it.<br /> He released my jaw and placed a peck on my forehead. I resisted the urge to flinch away from his touch and instead kept my gaze rooted unto the white tiled floors of our pack&#039;s living room. There was no one around, as instructed by father.<br /> &quot;Don&#039;t look so depressed sugar. You know I love you, don&#039;t you?&quot; he cooed, wiping a traitor tear that fell down my cheek.<br /> I gulped down my disgust and nodded. I knew he loved me, but not in the way a father loves a daughter. My mother, his mate died giving birth to me. The pack members said that after my mother died my father was never the same again. That was, until my 8th birthday when he finally noticed that I was turning into an exact replica of my mother. That was the day he started loving me and the day my tormenting began. Sometimes I cursed my mother for leaving me here with him.<br /> &quot;Let&#039;s go,&quot; he grabbed a hold of my hand and forcefully pulled me up the many stairs and towards his bedroom.<br /> Once we entered his room, he closed the door and locked it before turning around to face me with an all too familiar look in his eyes. I shivered in disgust as my fear manifested. My skin began to crawl.<br /> He smiled gently, &quot;take off your clothes.&quot; he ordered softly but the challenge in his eyes were clear. Defy him and he&#039;d do it himself, but he wouldn&#039;t be gentle. I learned my lesson a long time ago.<br /> So with glossy eyes and trembling lips I slowly took off my clothes, one by one, from my summer dress to my underwear, I stripped myself undressed in front of my father.<br /> He did nothing but stood there and watched me with a blank expression on his face, his stare trained on my body as his eyes darkened slightly. The whole pack knew what their Alpha did and yet they couldn&#039;t do anything about it simply because he was their Alpha. They couldn&#039;t even talk about it to anyone outside the pack. It was impossible to go against an Alpha&#039;s order.<br /> The tears slowly started falling from my eyes. The little droplets soon poured down full force and yet no sound left my mouth. I knew better than to make a sound.<br /> Father stalked towards me slowly, his eyes showed his excitement while mine showed utter terror of what was to come.<br /> I closed my eyes as I felt his hands roam over my chest and traveled downwards before coming back up again. I yelped when he grabbed a tight hold of my breasts before whimpering in pain. Father groaned out loudly as his eyes devoured my body.<br /> &quot;Alpha Zion would definitely love your body.&quot; father muttered softly before he chuckled, &quot;Let&#039;s just hope he doesn&#039;t break you first. Maybe you being a virgin was the reason he really picked you to marry? It&#039;s a good thing I never took it away, right?&quot;<br /> I nodded my head quickly and sniffed, raising a hand to wipe my tears. Father&#039;s eyes narrowed.<br /> &quot; Why are you crying? Did I give you something to cry about? Do you want a repeat of what we did last week with the leather strap?&quot; He threatened harshly causing me to flinch away from him. &quot; Now get down on your knees.&quot; he ordered as he immediately began unbuckling his belt and the button of his jeans before pulling both his jeans and underwear down.<br /> A sob got trapped in my throat as I knelt down, my shoulders shaking slightly as I silently cried, my eyes round and fearful.<br /> Perhaps getting married would actually be a good thing. To get me away from my father. I found myself for the first time wishing my wedding day could come sooner.<br /> Two weeks later<br /> I stared into the mirror blankly and looked myself over, my lips curling in disgust. What my father chose as a dress was barely even called a dress. However, it was based on the style of clothing that Alpha Zion’s pack women wore regularly for their mating ceremonies. Just gazing at my little helper that the Alpha assigned to me made me realize that clothing wasn’t a necessity for them.<br /> The woman wore a translucent black, lacy skirt that trickled down to her ankles and a tight fitting crop top. When I first saw her, my first expression was one of genuine surprise. To walk around like that? I couldn’t imagine. Luckily for my eyes though, the woman was at least wearing underwear beneath the skirt, though I doubted it helped much.<br /> To my dismay, I was forced into a white translucent, lacy skirt with floral patterns that spiraled down past my ankles and left a slight trail behind me. Luckily, starting from my mid thigh to my hips, the white became thicker to the point where it was difficult to see anything beneath it. There were slits running up the sides of the skirt, showing off my freshly waxed legs and the very high heels they forced me into. My top was a long sleeved white crop top, and was made out of silk with a floral lace pattern trailing along the outside. I couldn’t deny that the overall outfit was beautiful.<br /> My little helper fixed my curls into a neat bun and sprinkled white flower petals around it before placing the wedding veil on. My makeup was light and natural, with just a bit of gloss decorating my lips.<br /> All in all, I looked beautiful, there was no denying that.<br /> “Luna,” my little helper called out, poking her head through the door.<br /> I looked over my shoulder and gave a small smile, “Yes?”<br /> The lady returned the smile, her eyes dancing with excitement for her Alpha’s upcoming mating.<br /> “It’s time. Your father is waiting for you outside.” she replied.<br /> I nodded my head and turned back to face the floor length mirror. “Give me a moment please,” I muttered, glancing down at myself again. The outfit was at least comfortable.<br /> The girl hesitated slightly before giving a nod and closing the door behind her.<br /> I sighed sadly and frowned. I weighed all of my choices in my mind and realized that the only realistic choice I did have was to go through with this marriage that didn’t involve my true mate.<br /> The only thing I could do was look on the bright side.<br /> 1. I would be getting rid of my repulsive father.<br /> 2. I would be ruling a pack of my own.<br /> 3. I would have a husband and family to look out for me.<br /> 4. I would finally be free of my father.<br /> Those pros alone gave me enough courage to walk towards the door with a smile plastered on my face. However, when I opened the door and connected gaze with my father, the courage immediately left me as my body automatically shrunk in on itself. I immediately dropped my eyes to the floor.<br /> My father chuckled and grabbed my hand, slipping it through his before he began leading me towards the ceremony.<br /> “I’m gonna miss you, you know?” he mused, pulling me closer to his side as we walked, yet I remained silent and stared at the glass doors up ahead, “This merge between packs couldn’t have happened if it weren’t for you. It was a necessary decision, however, it doesn’t mean I won’t miss our late nights together.”<br /> I shivered as I thought back to last night when he had me bent over his office desk as he enjoyed his ‘parting gift’ from me.<br /> When we arrived at the doors, father stopped and turned to me with a smile on his face.<br /> “Unfortunately I won’t be walking you down the aisle today. According to Alpha Zion, their pack’s ceremony is different from ours. This is as far as I go,” he reached a hand up to caress my cheek as he frowned, “You look so much like your mother... Are you ready?”<br /> When I nodded he turned, and opened the door, gesturing for me to slip through. I stepped through the door and stumbled slightly due to my bubbling nervousness. Luckily, I caught my footing in time and looked around the area.<br /> You could barely see the beginning of the forest due to the amount of people gathered.<br /> The moon illuminated the entire clearing, a sign that the goddess was watching over us. The whole area was packed with people as they stood talking among each other. You could easily tell the difference between both packs. Those from Zion’s pack wore barely any clothing. The women were all in translucent skirts of all colors, the black ones didn’t reveal much though, they wore either crop tops or tank tops with their hair loose or falling down their backs. The males wore black trousers and nothing more, their chest left exposed, showing off their pack mark. Now, my pack was dressed in formal wear, from dresses to suits, with a few wearing casual jeans and a shirt. You could see the curiosity and bafflement in my pack’s eyes as they eyed the other people that they were about to merge with.<br /> It was when they heard the door open did they all turn their attention to me and stared.<br /> I gulped and straightened up, raising my head and staring straight forward, avoiding meeting any of the wandering eyes. I left my face blank of any emotion, or so I thought but it was quite clear that I was nervous. I was going to be a leader now, and these people would all look up to me for guidance. How could I not be nervous? However, I had to be brave and strong for these people.<br /> I met the dull gray eyes of my husband as a soft melody began playing in the background. His face showed no emotions. I couldn’t tell what he was thinking and it slightly worried me.<br /> I took a deep breath and slowly stepped towards my future. Everyone stared at me with judgmental eyes as I passed by but I chose to keep my eyes on the dark haired man at the end of the pathway, standing under a large oak tree, dressed in nothing but black trousers. His chest was exposed for all to see, the markings of his pack imprinted on him. They were beautifully carved into his skin with elegant swirls and intricate lines that all connected to the cursive ‘S’ in the middle.<br /> Our eyes met, and I was forced to resist the urge to cower. His wolf was right at the surface, staring through the man’s eyes at me. His gaze was unnerving and calculating as I watched his wolf that was sitting down in a relaxed manner, eyes calmly appraising me from top to bottom.<br /> I held onto his gaze as I approached him, careful not to trip over my own feet as I walked. I was never comfortable in heels, I had two K feet that didn’t understand the meaning of grace and balance.<br /> Once I stopped beside him, I made sure to keep my gaze lowered as we both turned to the wedding official.<br /> **********<br /> I stared into the glowing pools of mercury in fright. The wolf watching me intensely through Zion’s eyes. I resisted the urge to shiver, fear implanting itself so deep inside of me that I found myself trembling slightly. I took in a deep breath as the wedding official began his long speech about the goddess and her blessings.<br /> My thoughts drifted off into the future, thinking of all the advantages I would have of finally freeing myself from father’s grasp. After today, I didn’t have to walk around and watch as the pack threw me pitied and sympathetic stares, nor did I have to succumb to my abuse anymore.<br /> I was snapped from my thoughts when the official asked Zion to repeat after him. I stared into his eyes as he did the same, but as I searched for any sign of emotion in either him or his wolf, I found none. Not even a single drop of excitement or anxiety. It was like he was there but he wasn’t really there.<br /> My lips pulled down into a frown.<br /> “I, Zion, take you Starr, to be my mate, my friend, my home and my life to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do us part.”<br /> His voice was low and deep yet it carried itself around the clearing for all to hear. I took in a deep breath and hesitantly repeated what he said.<br /> “I, Starr, take you Zion, to be my mate, my friend, my home and my life to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worst, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do us part.”<br /> My voice shook as I spoke, my nervousness clear to the people closest to me.<br /> Zion’s eyes narrowed in on me slightly as he noticed the slight tremor in my voice. I resisted the urge to flinch under his cold gaze.<br /> “Give me your hands.” Demanded the official as he pulled a piece of red ribbon from his pocket.<br /> I lowered my gaze from Zion and hesitantly placed my hand in front of me. After Zion placed his hand in front of him, the official took a very sharp, knife off of the table beside him and gave it to Zion.<br /> Zion took it and sliced it across his palm, not flinching or showing any emotion to say that he was hurt. He then handed it to me, who stared at the knife with troubled eyes before I glanced over at Zion’s bleeding palm.<br /> My heart immediately began to race as I hesitated. This was it. After this, there was no going back. Did I really have no choice?<br /> I immediately shook my head, too afraid to take the final step to seal the deal. As I took a step back, Zion growled in annoyance and pulled the knife from my grip, quickly grabbing my hand and forcefully slicing my palm. I whimpered and flinched away, clutching my hand to my chest before quickly removing it when I noticed blood starting to flow down my arm.<br /> The official shot me a pitied look before gesturing towards our hands, “Join your palms together.” he instructed.<br /> I faced my hand forward and connected it to Zion’s. The official quickly wrapped the red ribbon around our hands, keeping them joined before stepping back.<br /> “It’s time.” he nodded at us.<br /> It’s time.<br /> I had no choice.<br /> I took in a deep breath and stared into Zion’s glowing eyes. Together, we recited.<br /> “With this ribbon, I bind us together. I give you my heart, my soul and my mind. I promise from this day forward, you shall not walk alone, may my heart be your shelter and my arms your home. I accept you, Zion(Starr) as my soulmate and my life long partner. May our love forever bloom.”<br /> I gasped.<br /> My insides twisted.<br /> My heart shattered and rebuilt itself.<br /> My hand that was connected to Zion tingled.<br /> First, it was just a slight shock but then it turned into bolts of electricity shooting from my finger, throughout my entire body. It was a pleasurable feeling and left me trembling.<br /> My wolf howled out in acceptance as we felt the bond connecting. It was like two magnets coming together as one. I felt the link between us entwining along with the links of his pack and mine. I stared into his eyes and was surprised to finally see emotion in them. Lust, shock and excitement.<br /> Everything began shifting into place.<br /> I was finally free from my torment.<br /> Everything was going to be okay.<br /> Was what I thought.<br /> The moon’s radiance reflected down on us, casting a glow throughout the clearing as music played softly in the background.<br /> The wedding was over, I was mated but now I had to stay and enjoy my mating reception.<br /> I sat on a small stage, in the middle of the clearing. It had two chair like thrones sitting upon it, one big and the other slightly smaller. I resided in the small throne next to Zion, both of us looking out at the scene before us.<br /> Zion haven’t spoken a word to me once since our ceremony ended. He seemed to be caught up in his own little world, yet I noticed how he scanned the clearing every few seconds, as if waiting for someone or something to jump out and attack us.<br /> He wore a blank expression on his face as usual, his lips pulled into a straight line. He didn’t seem affected by what was going on down below them but I, on the other hand, was absolutely stupefied.<br /> My eyes were wide open, along with my mouth, an expression I knew was going to be my new friend.<br /> Mostly everyone from my father’s pack decided against dancing, not wanting to get involved with Zion’s pack that already took up most of the dance floor. They chose to stand on the sidelines, the same expression as me as they all watched the way Zion’s pack enjoyed themselves.<br /> Women and men, joined together, practically dry humping and gyrating against each other. Surprisingly enough, there was even a few couples going at it in public. The woman’s skirt hiked up around her waist and the man’s pants slightly lowered as both of them matched the beat of the song.<br /> You could even slightly hear their groans that filled the air. It looked like anybody was going with anybody at that point.<br /> I was positive that my face was an ugly shade of red mixed with green. I bottled my uneasiness and instead settled on shifting my gaze towards the cluster of trees nearby.<br /> After an hour of ‘dancing’ and Zion still not saying or doing anything, I was just about tired and began dozing off when suddenly, Zion stood up from his seat.<br /> Everyone quietened immediately, turning to give him their full attention. I caught myself and quickly scrambled from my seat to stand beside him. I glanced at him in surprise when his arms immediately came to wrap around my waist.<br /> “I would like to thank each and every one of you for coming out today to celebrate the union between my beautiful mate and I,” he said. The crowd buzzed with activity as everyone began clapping and murmurs filled the air.<br /> Zion raised a hand, silencing everyone before continuing.<br /> “As you all may know, my pack is not your typical everyday pack. We’ve established our own rules and culture that we swore to live by,” murmurs of agreement swept through the crowd, mostly coming from my pack, “we give our wolves as much freedom as they wish but not too much to allow them to take over. We are creatures of the forest. We should be free to follow our instincts as much as we want without thinking of the consequences. This is what my pack, the shadow rogue pack stands for. We strive for freedom in our true forms!”<br /> Zion’s pack cheered.<br /> I glanced across the clearing at my father, who was leant against the open bar with a woman sticking off of his arm. I shivered slightly as our eyes clashed. I quickly looked away.<br /> “We all know that us wolves love a challenge. We love a good hunt. In regards to this, our pack has a specific wedding tradition that aspires to bring people together to help increase our numbers within the pack and to help us grow. This tradition is for all unmated males to prove that they are worthy of the title ‘men of the household’. It is also for the newly mated male to prove that he is worthy of his mate,” I glanced at him curiously, “We call it the mating hunt. Every unmated female from the age of 18-40 are sent out into the woods along with the newly mated female to avoid capture by us males. The females are given a 5 minute head start before we males chase.”<br /> My brows shot up in confusion as this was the first time I’ve ever heard of a tradition like this. What really was the purpose?<br /> “Once a male captures a female, he decides whatever he wants to do with her. He could either do nothing to her, pleasure her or mate and mark her.”<br /> At that, outraged shouts broke out from my pack members as they clutched their loved ones and voiced out their disagreements. Unlike Zion’s pack, my pack treasured mates and never encouraged choice mates. That only happened to persons who lost their mates or were rejected.<br /> The males in Zion’s pack looked way too excited for this ridiculous hunt. There was a predatory glint in their eyes as they eyed the women around them.<br /> I resisted the urge to argue along with my pack and kept my mouth sealed shut. I didn’t want to get on Zion’s bad side just after we got married.<br /> “Silence,” his voice boomed around the clearing powerfully, causing many to cower at the sheer force of his dominance while I shivered in pleasure. My wolf purred in my mind as she drank in her new mate’s dominance.<br /> He definitely reclaimed the attention as everyone turned to stare at him, their expressions switching constantly. Some was enjoying this while others were repulsed at it, including me.<br /> “The newly mated female will be the first one to enter the woods, leading the other females in before they split up and go their separate ways. Males, this is to test your hunting skills. To prove to your Alpha that you can find your prey and take it. Don’t disappoint me.” He pulled me closely to his side and buried his nose into my hair, inhaling deeply. He tightened his grip a little too tight and caused me to wince in pain.<br /> “Run as fast as you can little one because once I catch you, I’m not gonna stop until I’m satisfied,” he whispered into my ear, gently nibbling on my earlobe.<br /> My eyes widened as I gulped nervously.<br /> “What if I don’t want to mate?” I whispered cautiously, not yet ready to lose my first time. It was the one thing my father never took from me.<br /> He chuckled, the sound inflicting nervousness and anxiety throughout my body.<br /> “You seem to think that you have a choice.” LEARN_MORE https://a.shepherdsapp.com/ad/Zmljd29ybGQvMTI0OTIy 110620302003689 Pop001 https://facebook.com/100092038763039 362 1 1,142,358,047,179,386 2024-03-17 02:00 person_profile eligible 0 0 NONE 0 0 1 1 Learn more 0 Pop001 120207174148900338 a.shepherdsapp.com NONE video https://a.shepherdsapp.com/ad/Zmljd29ybGQvMTI0OTIyLzIwMjQwMzE2MTM0NTM5L3BhZ2U=?adid={{ad.id}} 2024-03-16 00:53 https://scontent-lga3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/432462074_433419135929647_3733877416761084022_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_s60x60&_nc_cat=111&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=XZAJVovSbhMAX8ArUSJ&_nc_ht=scontent-lga3-1.xx&oh=00_AfDv3UMFgTqkBEuT2lFP1mCgSAhD-RFwgdx2SNzyyUKCjw&oe=65FD4A86 person_profile 0 Pop001 https://scontent-lga3-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/431985335_1106652473868589_2694420439107742686_n.jpg?_nc_cat=101&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=a4QIx8IaXDAAX9vt90O&_nc_ht=scontent-lga3-2.xx&oh=00_AfBQMY5o3lvRaxn7zSJuxv85K2i0jZ9q0gXIAE3-0r_ovw&oe=65FC4D19 0 3 Pop001 0 0 2024-03-17 02:00 View Edit

We made no promises.&quot;<br /> I waved my hand at their clasped hands. &quot; So we&#039;re nothing to each other? We&#039;re just casual? We&#039;re both free to sleep around? With all your talk of me being patient with you because you&#039;d never done this before, I thought we had something.&quot;<br /> Inwardly I cringed, hearing those words spew from my mouth. Could I be any more of a cliché? I thought we had something. I might as well have kept going: I thought I was special. I thought you cared for me. I thought we were building something. All I needed to do was start whining and crying. In the background I could hear a cheer go up as other members of Rig&#039;s team walked into the bar.<br /> &quot;I told you, she pecked me. I didn&#039;t peck her.&quot;<br /> &quot;Same difference. It shows a total lack of respect for me.&quot;<br /> He drew the blonde closer, his arm around her waist, and she shot me a triumphant look. &quot; It would be different if I had pecked her. Then it would have been my decision.&quot;<br /> With a sick feeling in my gut, I knew what he was about to do. And I also knew if he did it, there&#039;d be no going back.<br /> &quot;Don&#039;t, Rig, please,&quot; I begged him, shaking my head. I could feel the tears pricking at my eyes, but I blinked them back because Foster girls never cried in public.<br /> &quot; Now this is something you can fault me for. This is my decision,&quot; he said, as he pulled her to him and pecked her.<br /> Right. On the lips.<br /> Not staying long enough to see anything else, like, say, tongue or groping or clothes being torn off, I bolted for the door as if I were a teenage girl in a horror film being chased by a chainsaw-wielding psycho. And for once, the nerd gods were smiling on me because a taxi was just discharging a passenger in front of the bar, and I dove right into it. The driver took off and I choked out my address, trying not to throw up or dissolve into tears. That can come later. Keeping a tight grip on my emotions, I managed to call my boss accepting the overseas position, book a redeye flight to London early the next morning, and call my sister, Willow, to tell her to get the ice cream ready because I was heading over to her place as soon as I could pack suitcases, grab my passport and leave my apartment. Because no matter what other men pulled, Ben &amp; Jerry never let you down.<br /> My dreams hadn&#039;t just crashed and burned; they&#039;d been incinerated.<br /> Rig POV<br /> Ten months before &quot;the incident&quot;...<br /> I opened my apartment door and found my eyes caught by a tiny nymph. Huge violet-blue eyes blinked at me and I was surprised again by how little the nymph was. I&#039;m not just saying that because I&#039;m six-six and built like a linebacker. The top of her head barely came to my pecs and she was slightly built but well-cushioned, with long brunette hair curling wildly from a high ponytail down her back. She was definitely not built along the lines of the statuesque blonde who was leaving my apartment. Trina? Tasha?<br /> &quot;Oh, hi,&quot; the nymph chirped in a soft voice, and it seemed like she was forcing herself to talk to us. Bad timing on her part; I just wanted the blonde gone. She&#039;d overstayed her welcome by three hours. &quot;I&#039;m your new neighbor. I&#039;m Elizabeth.&quot;<br /> She looked at us expectantly, and when neither of us said anything immediately, her face started to fall as if she was expecting our rejection of her overture.<br /> &quot;Later,&quot; I said to the blonde. Tansy? Tanya? She gave me a dirty look then stomped off down the hall to the elevators.<br /> I turned my attention to my neighbor and gave her a smile. &quot; She doesn&#039;t live here; I do. I&#039;m Rig.&quot;<br /> I paused, waiting for recognition to hit her. Instead, after a moment&#039;s hesitation, she held out a little hand to me. &quot;Nice to meet you, Rig.&quot;<br /> With a grin, I shook her hand, my huge one engulfing hers. There was no way she didn&#039;t know who I was, so I thought I&#039;d see how far she&#039;d take this.<br /> &quot;I play hockey,&quot; I said, nudging her to admit she knew that, knew who I was.<br /> She paused for a minute, clearly thinking, then a spark lit her eyes. Finally! She knew she couldn&#039;t keep up the game of &quot;pretend I don&#039;t know you.&quot;<br /> &quot;I play some tennis,&quot; she said. &quot; But I mainly run. I&#039;m just getting back from one.&quot;<br /> Unbelievable. Was she kidding? Was she really going to keep up the pretense of not knowing me?<br /> &quot;I&#039;m Rig Carson.&quot;<br /> &quot;Oh, sorry! I&#039;m Elizabeth Jackson.&quot; Her emphasis on her last name echoed mine. Either she was an actress or she really had no clue who I was. This never happened.<br /> She unlocked her door and then turned back to me. &quot;I&#039;ll see you around.&quot;<br /> And before I could say anything, she closed the door in my face.<br /> At practice, I tried to figure out what had happened with my new neighbor. She hadn&#039;t recognized me, and I had to be one of the best-known faces and names in the state. My face was plastered on billboards and buses, and I was the face of Feat athletic shoes and the Amped sports drink company.<br /> Then she hadn&#039;t tried to flirt with me or keep talking to me. When had that ever happened? Even if women didn&#039;t know who I was, my looks and body reeled them in. They were always throwing themselves at me, vying for my attention.<br /> Unsure why this was preying on my mind, I went over the facts. She wasn&#039;t my type. At all. She was adorable, pretty even, but seemingly clueless. Her body was slight but curvy and soft, not the usual model-type I always chose. There was an innate sweetness about her that was apparent after just a few minutes of interaction. Maybe she was married or had a serious boyfriend, but even those things didn&#039;t usually stop women from trying to snag my attention.<br /> When I came home after practice, I noticed that there was a little covered Tupperware container in front of each door filled with...cookies?<br /> I picked up the one in front of my door and saw a little sticky note on top that said From your new neighbor Elizabeth in 209.<br /> That told me she was not married, or even living with someone. Still didn&#039;t rule out a serious boyfriend, so there still might be some explanation for her attitude toward me. Without thinking about it, I dropped my bag in front of my door, and, cookies in hand, knocked on Elizabeth&#039;s door.<br /> After a few seconds, she opened her door, a pair of black glasses perched on her nose, her long brown hair in that messy bun thing girls did. &quot;Hi, Rip! I see you got your cookies!&quot;<br /> &quot;It&#039;s Rig,&quot; I told her through gritted teeth. &quot;Wanted to thank you for the cookies. This is a nice treat after practice and a guilty pleasure.&quot; I indicated my bag in front of my door. &quot;I don&#039;t usually let myself have sweets during the hockey season.&quot;<br /> &quot;Wow, that&#039;s dedication. I can&#039;t stay away from cookies when I play tennis or run.&quot;<br /> &quot;Well, it&#039;s my job.&quot; I look at her meaningfully.<br /> &quot;It&#039;s your job to play hockey?&quot; Her little nose wrinkled. Just as she was about to ask me something, there were a series of computer chimes in the background of her apartment. &quot;Oh, sorry, gotta run! Enjoy the cookies, Rig.&quot;<br /> And once again she shuts the door in my face.<br /> What is going on here?<br /> Elizabeth POV<br /> My new neighbor was gorgeous. There&#039;s no other word for his gloriousness. He looked like the warriors that populated my company&#039;s video games. Unbelievably tall, as wide as a house and with sculpted muscles that looked like they could lift mountains. His face was rough perfection; no pretty boy here. He was all man with sharp cheekbones and a square jaw. His nose was just off center enough to let me know it&#039;d been broken at least once. And his hair! Thick, black and cut short, complementing his icy grey eyes. And, of course, he had a girlfriend! Gah! The first man who&#039;d captured my attention ever and he had a girlfriend. Double gah!<br /> The next morning, I was leaving for my run when Rig&#039;s door opened and he stood there in nothing but a loose pair of basketball shorts and no shirt. Did I mention no shirt? Holy freaking muscles – the man should not just appear like that without warning. The view momentarily distracted me from the fact that his girlfriend was leaving again.<br /> Wait a minute.<br /> That wasn&#039;t the same woman as yesterday.<br /> Was Rig a cheater?<br /> Oh, major disappointment.<br /> How would I ever look at his girlfriend in the eye if I saw her again? Did this woman know she was the other woman?<br /> I mumbled a quick good morning and shot down the hallway. I opted for the stairs, so I wouldn&#039;t have to be stuck in the elevator with the other woman.<br /> I found it easy to pound out the miles that day. Such a waste of a good-looking man. He was a cheater and for some reason that made me really angry. Maybe I felt bad for the clueless women, maybe I felt like someone that good-looking should have an equally beautiful soul to match. Either way, he was now firmly in the creep category.<br /> Rig POV<br /> When I returned home from practice that day, I decided to return the cookie container to Elizabeth, possibly as a way to see her and spark her recognition of me. Why it was so important to me that she figure out who I was, I had no clue, but her lack of recognition was really getting to me. I knocked on her door and she answered after a few minutes.<br /> &quot;Hey,&quot; I smiled at her, the full wattage one that never failed me with a woman. &quot;I wanted to return your container.&quot;<br /> Without a word, she took it from my hands and shot out a curt, &quot; Thanks.&quot;<br /> And she closed the door in my face. For the third time.<br /> The next morning, just as I was kicking out last night&#039;s redhead, Elizabeth&#039;s door opened, and her eyes widened until they were in danger of bugging out of her face. Again, she mumbled a &quot;good morning&quot; as she bolted down the hall to the stairwell. What was her problem? Was she some moral, uptight prude? A nun in training? At that point, her attitude was pissing me off, so I decided to give her something to really react to the next morning.<br /> I knew Elizabeth left for her run at 6:30 every morning, at least if the last three days were any indication. Sure enough, I heard her door open, and I opened mine. Elizabeth locked her door, turned around and came face to face. &quot; Thanks for a fun night, ladies. See you around.&quot;<br /> The two blondes giggled a good-bye to me and walked down the hall. Elizabeth remained where she was, her mouth open as she watched them leave.<br /> &quot;Ya gotta love puck bunnies,&quot; I said to her, slouching against my door frame. &quot;Always up for anything.&quot;<br /> Her attention snapped back to me. &quot; What bunnies?&quot;<br /> &quot;Puck bunnies,&quot; I said slowly. &quot;Have a good run. I&#039;m going back to bed. Long night.&quot; With a wink at her, I shut the door in her face.<br /> For once. Yes 2024-03-17 19:14 active 272 0 2336322593233327 😍Read the next chapters👉 “Harmonia, why is the floor covered in blood?” Absalom’s eyes were icy cold. He looked at Harmonia in disgust. Harmonia’s ears were buzzing. The man she had loved for five years now made chills run down her spine. Today was Absalom’s uncle’s welcome home party. Three hours ago, she received Absalom’s text about a welcome home party at Northriver estate. She was to decorate the place in advance. The moment she stepped into the estate, Absalom’s childhood friend, Luna Woods, took a pill that induced to lose the baby in front of her! By the time she realized this was a scheme to frame her, she turned to run away. But it was too late. “I’ll say it again. I didn’t do it!” Absalom laughed coldly, “Villagers are supposed to be honest and kind-hearted. How can you lie so remorselessly? I saw Luna covered in blood, and I heard her beg you to not harm the child! Are you still going to deny it?” “Absalom, you were the one who cheated in this marriage. You are the one in the wrong! Even if I hated you and Luna, I wouldn’t need to use such despicable ways to get back at her and harm her unborn child!” “I told you earlier that what happened between Luna and me was just an accident! I would handle things after she delivered the child! But you actually forced her to take a pill?” “She took the pill herself! It has nothing to do with me!” She kept defending herself, but only Luna and she were at the estate at the time. She could not clear her name no matter what. “What a joke! So, Luna harmed her own child? Harmonia, would anyone even believe you?” Yes, he did not believe it. Neither would anyone else. Luna was the heiress to the Woods family. Even if the Woods family were not as rich as before, they were still rich. Meanwhile, Harmonia was nothing. In their eyes, she was just another bumpkin from the hills. Just based on this, no one would believe her. Moreover, everyone knew that no matter how bad a mother was, she would not willingly cause harm to her own child. Luna was a sweet, loving girl who would cry at a trodden ant. How could she be cruel enough to harm her unborn child? She had to admit, her strategy was ruthless. Still, it worked like a charm. “Harmonia, you’re just too cruel!” Absalom gritted his teeth, grabbed Harmonia’s neck, and held her against the wall. Harmonia’s face went pale. It felt like she was sinking into the depths of the ocean. It was getting harder to breathe. She had asthma! “Medicine…” She quickly searched her pockets for her inhaler. Her hands could not stop shaking; even opening the inhaler was hard. However, the second she opened it, Absalom slapped the inhaler away. The inhaler fell on the floor. “Enough! Harmonia, stop faking your illness!” Absalom let his hand fall to his side. His face was sullen. Harmonia’s whole body became limp, and she slumped onto the floor! She needed her inhaler! Staring at the inhaler on the floor, she pushed herself up while struggling to breathe and crawled forward. “Harmonia, how long are you going to keep up this act?” Absalom was livid. Clenching his teeth, he rushed over. He stepped on the inhaler before he stomped on the back of Harmonia’s hand! Harmonia gasped from the pain. Her breathing became even worse. She gasped with difficulty, but the pain brought her mind exceptional clarity. It was precisely because of this clarity that she sensed just how cruel this man was. Absalom bent down to grip her chin, then he said coldly. “Clean the blood off the floor before my uncle reaches the estate! Otherwise, you’ll have to pay!” He left and did not even spare her a single glance. Over the past five years, when had he ever looked her straight in the eye? She was the stubborn, delusional one who insisted on marrying him. Outside the door, Absalom was calling to check on Luna’s condition. He spoke urgently, and his words were full of concern. Soon, she heard him leave in a great hurry. It showed how much he worried about his childhood friend turned mistress. Chuckling to herself, she wanted to pick up the crushed inhaler. However, she did not have any energy left. “Save…” Slowly, her breathing faded away. Her consciousness was becoming fuzzy. Swiftly, the door opened. Someone walked in. Had Absalom come back? Chapter 2 Let’s Get a Divorce Harmonia clung to her last shred of hope until the unfamiliar scent of sandalwood reached her. The scent extinguished her faint glimmer of hope. A portable oxygen tank appeared. An oxygen mask was placed over her mouth and nose. The remnants of her will to survive drove her to inhale the oxygen deeply. She held onto his wrist tightly and gripped the string of rosary beads wrapped around it as if it were her sole hope to stay alive. All around her was utter silence, except for the rapid sound of breathing. She was forcefully pulled back from the brink of death. At that moment, Harmonia came to see her situation clearly. Once her breathing had become steady, he placed the inhaler in her palm before turning around and walking away. Harmonia struggled to raise her head and saw his imposing back, along with the hand that was wearing the string of rosary beads she had clung to moments ago. Harmonia put the inhaler over her mouth and took a puff. Using a dry powder inhaler felt dry and scratchy, just like her marriage over the past five years. She looked at the puddle of blood left by Luna and scoffed. She used the cloth to wipe away the dried bloodstains. Along with the blood, she wiped away the love she had held for Absalom. Their encounter at Green Hill had destined them for this unfortunate outcome. In these five years, she had made enough mistakes. People had to always move forward. If she continued to live in the past, what was the point of living then? As night fell, the relatives of the Terran family arrived at the old mansion. They were already aware of the pill incident. They were gossiping and pointing fingers at Harmonia. From their hushed conversations, Harmonia learned that Luna did lost herunborn child. It was a masterful move that ended two birds with one stone. Harmonia smiled. There was no rush. Luna would have to pay for what she had done one day. At this moment, the car she had been waiting for finally arrived. Absalom stepped out of it. Harmonia picked up a cake from the buffet table and walked toward him with a smile. Absalom, who saw Harmonia approach with a cake in hand, thought that she had genuinely realized her mistakes and had come to appease and apologize to him. However, the next moment, he realized he was completely wrong! She smashed that cake into his custom-tailored suit! There was a collective gasp of shock from the onlookers. They all began to comment on how Harmonia, a girl from the countryside, did not belong in high society and had even gone completely insane! Harmonia, on the other hand, seemed unfazed. She was wearing a nonchalant smile. “Absalom, I’ve cleaned up the mess of your child’s blood. That’s the last thing I’ll ever do for you. “Now, let’s bid farewell to our thoroughly ruined marriage with a piece of cake I borrowed from your uncle’s party! “Let’s get a divorce.” She delivered the words with brutal directness. Her tone was devoid of any affection. The onlookers present were completely shocked! After all, it was common knowledge that Harmonia loved Absalom very deeply, humbly, and with great devotion. And yet now, in front of the entire Terran family, she embarrassed Absalom and even demanded a divorce! Before anyone could react, she turned and walked toward the courtyard. Absalom frowned and wiped away the smeared cake with a handkerchief. He spoke softly with patience, “Harmonia, what have you ever done for me? And why are you making a fuss? Is this the right occasion for you to do that?” “I’ll see you at the courthouse tomorrow morning at nine,” she said without glancing back. She had said what needed to be said. Absalom’s eyes widened in anger. “Do you even know what you’re talking about, Harmonia? Once we get divorced, there’s no turning back for you!” Chapter 3 Arrive at the Courthouse, Divorce “I never thought about turning back, nor do I intend to. Not to mention, you aren’t worth turning back to.” Harmonia’s tone was indifferent. She had her back to Absalom and made no attempt to turn around to look at him even once. Words escaped through Absalom’s clenched teeth, one at a time. “Well, very well, I hope you won’t regret it!” Harmonia chuckled. She did regret something. She regretted losing her heart to the wrong man. She wished she had never done that. She could not hold back her tears any longer. They streamed down her face, one drop after another. Then, they vanished without a trace and left only dried tear tracks on her cheeks. Since she had loved him deeply, how could she feel nothing when it had come to this? However, since she knew nothing would come out of it, what was the point of persisting? Five long years… Even after five long years, she could not make him love her back. After she had opened her eyes, she decided to love what she had gained. It was time for a showdown. … Not far away, inside the dilapidated Empyrean Tower, a man smiled. “Mr. Martinez, what are you smiling about?” Mr. Martinez’s slender fingers lightly tapped on the mahogany railing. “Dominic, between them, who do you think will regret it first?” “Mrs. Terran would undoubtedly regret it first.” “Really?” He chuckled. … Harmonia walked out of the Northriver estate. A car was parked not far away. In front of the entire Terran family, she got into the car. “Mr. Smith, couldn’t you have chosen a more low-key vehicle?” “Oh, Milady, this is already the... the cheapest car in your garage.” Harmonia rubbed her forehead in a speechless manner. “Mr. Smith, where is the divorce agreement I asked you to prepare?” As they were stopping at a red light, Mr. Smith handed the divorce agreement to Harmonia. She glanced at it. “Why should I leave him without taking a penny? After five years of marriage, I believe I’m entitled to at least one or two billion from him. Did my brother draft this agreement?” “Yes.” Mr. Smith appealed to her with reason. “Miss Harmonia, you’re not short of money. Even the cars in your garage alone are worth more than six billion.” While it was true that Harmonia was not short of money, she understood that her brother was worried she might change her mind and return to Absalom. That's why he wanted her to have a clean and swift divorce. Still, Harmonia believed that she deserved to get one or two billion from Absalom. “Mr. Smith, who in the world would complain about having too much money?” After five years of effort and involvement in three groundbreaking construction projects that were globally acclaimed, taking away a substantial chunk of Absalom’s wealth seemed quite reasonable. “Tomorrow morning at nine, Absalom will definitely show up, and our marriage will be over for sure,” Harmonia stated confidently and left Mr. Smith puzzled. “Mr. Smith, I’m transferring a billion to you. I want you to invest it in all the paternity testing facilities in Nilus City, no matter what the method of acquisition is.” Immediately after that, Harmonia made another phone call. “Alessia, do you still need to meet your KPIs for the month?” Alessia Clark was Harmonia's high school friend. She founded Aureole Media, which was dedicated to uncovering the various scandals within the upper classes. It was often referred to as the “upper-crust watchdog.” “It’s the end of the month. I was just about to dig up something big. Do you have any scoops for me? But considering you’re in the upper-class circles yourself, forget I asked. I know you’re fond of me, so I won’t put you in a tight spot.” Harmonia managed a smile in resignation. “I’ve got some personal intel I can share with you.” “Personal intel? What kind of intel?” “I’m divorcing Absalom.” On the other end of the call, Alessia was silent for a few seconds before letting out an exclamation. “You’ve finally come to your senses? Good for you! As they say, a wise person doesn’t fall in love.” “Is this a big enough scoop for you then?” “Hahaha, with this massive piece of gossip you’ve given me, it’s definitely big enough!” After the call ended, Alessia acted swiftly. News of Harmonia and Absalom’s divorce spread like wildfire! Today, she made Absalom lose face by taking the initiative to propose a divorce in front of the Terran family’s relatives. At the moment, news of their divorce was spreading like wildfire. It even reached Luna’s ears. She was bound to put on a show of crying, cause a commotion, and even threaten self-harm. It was a two-pronged approach! In order to preserve his pride and also to appease his childhood sweetheart, Luna, Absalom would undoubtedly proceed with the divorce. Although the Internet was flooded with skepticism about her, with public opinion overwhelmingly favoring Absalom, the tides would soon turn in her favor! … The next day at nine in the morning, just as she expected, he appeared at the entrance of the courthouse! “Here’s the divorce agreement.” Harmonia’s tone was indifferent. Her movements were composed as she handed him the agreement. Absalom stared at the agreement she handed over. The emotions in his gaze changed a little. “Give me a few minutes.” With those words, as the traffic lights turned red, he quickly crossed the road. Harmonia furrowed her brow in puzzlement. What was Absalom planning to do? Was he having second thoughts? That was not possible. Chapter 4 Special Divorce Gift to Teach the Two-Timer a Lesson Soon, Absalom returned and handed Harmonia a tube of ointment. “This is for your hand. Remember to apply the ointment.” He had noticed the swelling and bruising on her hand, so he bought her some medicine. But what was this? A carrot and a stick approach? He seemed to have forgotten that he was the reason she got injured! Harmonia snorted. “Awww, I’m so touched.” “Since you’re so touched, maybe you should reconsider so that you won’t regret it.” “Reconsider what? Adding an injury to my other hand?” Harmonia’s tone carried a hint of sarcasm. She even tossed the tube of ointment into the nearby trashcan right in front of Absalom. “Harmonia, what is the meaning of this?” “Oops, my hand slipped.” Absalom’s gaze turned icy, and his expression darkened. “You don’t know what’s good for you!” He was right. She really did not know what was good for her. Otherwise, how could she have wasted her affection on him for a whole five years? “Take a look at the agreement. If it’s acceptable, go ahead and sign it,” Harmonia said in an emotionless tone. As Absalom looked through the agreement, his sharp eyes caught a particular detail. “A billion? You’re asking for quite a lot.” “A billion is just pocket change for you, Mr. Terran.” “You married me for my money. Now that we’re getting a divorce, I’ll give you what you want.” As he said that, he signed the divorce agreement. They walked into the courthouse. Due to his identity, Absalom drew many curious glances. After all, he was the well-known and assertive CEO of Nilus City, who had impeccable looks and a good family background. Naturally, he would capture attention wherever he went. As for Mrs. Terran, Harmonia, she was relatively unknown. With glasses and a mask, her appearance was unremarkable. Yet, she exuded an indescribable sense of aloofness. The next moment, a photo of the two of them at the courthouse was posted online, and it confirmed the trending rumors of their divorce. As the crowd of onlookers grew larger by the minute, their divorce process was expedited. In no time, they completed the divorce proceedings, with their divorce certificates stamped and sealed. Harmonia still remembered how excited and thrilled she was when she received her marriage certificate five years ago. Back then, had she ever imagined that they would end up getting a divorce? Of course not. Even though they never consummated their marriage, and their bond was never deep, she had never considered divorcing him. However, holding the divorce certificate in her hands, she felt a sense of relief. Absalom was like an unresponsive void. He was not worth taking a leap of faith for. “A billion, thank you.” Harmonia looked at Absalom. Of course, she did not forget about the money. After all, it was only right and proper to be paid for services rendered. Absalom frowned. His gaze turned cold. He took out a bank card and handed it to her. “The PIN is on the back of the card.” Harmonia readily accepted the bank card. She was not worried at all about whether there was money on it. After all, they had signed the agreement in black and white. Then, she handed him an envelope. “Consider this my separation gift to you, Mr. Terran.” “We’ll meet again.” They would cross paths again! Harmonia turned around and walked away without looking at him. The way she called him “Mr. Terran” as well as her swift departure made his grip on the envelope tighten. He felt a heavy lump in his throat. However, upon further thought, their divorce was probably for the best. She was a woman who coveted his wealth. She was ruthless and unscrupulous. If he had stayed married to her, she would always be a potential threat to him. Absalom looked at the crumpled envelope and let out a sigh of relief. Despite the thought, he still felt frustrated. His secretary had already arrived and was waiting for him. He had to get to the company to chair a meeting. As the car smoothly moved forward, Absalom sat in the back seat and opened the envelope from Harmonia. Chapter 5 Went on Trending, Exposing the Cheating Couple In front of him was a paternity test report! The person who had conducted the test was Luna! The report stated that based on the available information and the results of the DNA test, Absalom was not the biological father of the child! Absalom’s pupils dilated in an instant! This envelope contained not only the paternity test report but also a series of medical documents! These documents indicated that Luna had undergone an exanmination to determine paternity when she was sixteen weeks expecting! Thump! Absalom’s expression turned fierce as he pounded his fist heavily against the front seat of the car. “Take me to the hospital,” he ordered in a cold voice. The secretary, driving the vehicle, hesitated for a moment. “Sir, there’s an important meeting regarding the Empyrean Tower's restoration next.” “I said, take me to the hospital! Is that so hard to understand?” Absalom roared. ”Yes, sir.” The secretary swiftly turned the car around and headed to the hospital. … Harmonia exited the courthouse and headed to a nearby parking lot. The sunlight filtered through the trees and cast a warm glow on her. It turned out that all the hardships of the past were just paving the way for a better future. She smiled a little. She removed her reading glasses and let her long hair down. She flicked her hair and exuded a sophisticated allure. Then, she took out her phone and called Alessia. “Alessia, it’s time to release the second wave of revelations.” “Got it!” After the call ended, the news of “Absalom had an affair with Luna, but he was not the father of her child” spread like wildfire. Media outlets and social media influencers were going crazy with reposts and shares. The Internet exploded with gossip! Several videos showed Absalom accompanying Luna to maternity check-ups, while Luna acted cute and sweet to him. They appeared to be quite intimate. However, what followed was a paternity test report that left everyone stunned. It revealed that Luna’s child had no biological relation to Absalom! Previously, Luna gained fame online for a viral short video where she wore a traditional English gown while passing through the Empyrean Tower. After that, the revelation of her being the daughter of the Woods family, coupled with her identity as the most beautiful girl of the Nilus University’s architecture faculty, garnered her even more fans. Who could have thought that their beloved “traditional English gown muse” would turn out to be a shameless homewrecker? The online community was now in an uproar, with public sentiment strongly siding with Harmonia. People understood the reasons behind the divorce. There was an outpouring of criticism directed at the cheating man and his mistress. It was a moment of satisfaction for her. Harmonia cruised down the street in her car and blasted high-energy rock music on her way to the Nilus City International Trade Center. The center consisted of six towering skyscrapers that were iconic structures in Nilus City. They were all privately owned by the Marsh family. Upon arriving at the consortium building, she pulled aside at the grand and imposing entrance. Mr. Smith, seeing the car pull up, approached with a cheerful smile. Harmonia handed him the divorce certificate. The next moment, Mr. Smith burst into genuine laughter. He quickly took out his phone and snapped pictures of the certificate from the front, the inside, and the back, as if it were some priceless treasure. “Mr. Smith, is my brother back?” “He just set foot on Nilus City soil just under an hour ago.” “Is he in his office? I’ll go find him.” Harmonia knew how much her brother, Hector Marsh, hoped she would come to her senses and give up that scoundrel, Absalom. She could not wait to show him her divorce certificate. “Miss Harmonia!” Mr. Smith stopped Harmonia. “Mr. Hector is in the conference room. Today is the monthly shareholders’ meeting.” At that moment, two employees were chatting in a low voice. “Who knows what those old shareholders are going to demand at today’s shareholders’ meeting.” “Last month, they wanted us to prepare sashimi and hand-brewed coffee for them.” “They come here every month and always give Mr. Hector a hard time. What can he do? Everyone knows he’s an illegitimate child, and that makes him inferior in status.” Mr. Smith was taken aback and quickly rebuked them. “What nonsense are you all talking about? Get back to work!” The two employees lowered their heads and hurried away. As Mr. Smith turned around to speak to Harmonia, he found she had already taken off her oversized coat and tossed it on the table. With a black tank top and tight-fitting pants and her long hair swaying with each step, she exuded an intimidating aura. The aura left Mr. Smith momentarily stunned in place. He was so relieved that tears welled up in his eyes. He thought to himself. “The once awesome and formidable Miss Harmonia is back!” Harmonia took the elevator straight to the meeting room. She could hear the shareholders making mocking remarks from outside. “Hector, being the illegitimate child of the Marsh family, the fact that you’ve managed to secure the position of CEO and get to where you are today is a favor bestowed upon you by me. So, you'd better not choose the wrong side!” Thud! Chapter 6 Harmonia Roasted Shareholders to Protect Hector The meeting room door swung open. Harmonia yanked a chair back and placed both hands on the conference table. Even though she wore a gentle smile, she gave off a chilling vibe. “Mr. Kurt, as the legitimate child of the Marsh family, how come I’ve never heard that my brother’s position as CEO was bestowed upon him by you as a favor?” Harmonia’s words were like a bombshell. They shattered the calm atmosphere and created waves of shock. “You... You’re Harmonia?” Kurt Ivanov seemed surprised as he was unable to recognize her immediately. After all, she had been out of the public eye for five years and had not been seen in the Marsh Consortium. “It seems like your eyesight has deteriorated over the past five years, Mr. Kurt. Perhaps I should arrange for a specialist to give you a check-up tomorrow.” Harmonia’s demeanor was overbearing and imposing. Her words were sharp and aggressive. Her demeanor was pleasing to the eyes, and her words were satisfying to the ears! “Harmonia, you’re being rude! You have no manners!” “Well, I am the legitimate child after all. I was born with all the privileges, and I enjoyed being doted on by all. I’m not obedient and well-behaved like my brother. He has always given you all the respect a senior deserves, but I never expected you to be so shameless.” Harmonia was clearly the master of sharp retorts. She relentlessly delivered her words and left Kurt dumbfounded. The other shareholders were well aware that Harmonia was not to be trifled with. She had been known to be overbearing and aggressive since she was little. They gave Kurt advice. They stepped in and tried to smooth things over. It was nearly lunchtime, so they suggested heading to the cafeteria together for a meal. “Mr. Warren, any special additions to the menu for the shareholders today?” Harmonia inquired. “Yes, there are,” he replied. “May I see the menu?” Harmonia reached out her hand. Mr. Warren glanced at Hector for approval. Hector gave a subtle nod, and Mr. Warren understood. He then handed the menu over to Harmonia. King salmon? Australian lobster? They were already making a fortune! Despite that, every month they would come in for a shareholder meeting just to go through the motions, and still find a way to indulge in some good food before leaving! They sure knew how to make the most of their positions! “Hector, how about this? From now on, shareholder luncheons will follow the same standards as those for employees. The money saved will be donated to an orphanage in the name of the board of directors every month. This will be a little act of kindness from our shareholders.” It would not hurt for these unscrupulous folks to accumulate some goodwill, wouldn’t it? Hector suppressed a laugh. “I think we can do that. That’s a good idea.” “Well, all you gentlemen are very kind; I’m sure you’ll agree to this!” With the conversation reaching this point, even if they were reluctant to agree, how could they possibly say no? Especially when Hector, the CEO of Marsh Corporation, had already given his approval. “I think Harmonia’s suggestion is very commendable,” one shareholder chimed in, and naturally, the others followed suit. Harmonia flashed a playful smile. “Mr. Kurt, now this is the right side to be on, don’t you think?” Kurt was so enraged that his face turned various shades of red and white. He snorted. Then, he stood up and left the conference room. “Bye, Mr. Kurt. See you next month.” The other shareholders began to leave. Soon, only the two siblings were left in the spacious conference room. “Harmonia, you really know how to get under Kurt’s skin.” Hector chuckled as he recalled that scene earlier. “The expenses for their monthly meetings could cover an entire department. It’s completely unnecessary. We should save as much as we can." Hector, however, was the head of the consortium. He could not be too thrifty with these matters. “You’re always right. You do everything right.” “Except for the choice to marry Absalom,” Harmonia interjected. Hector smiled. He was clearly unaware of Harmonia’s divorce as he was in the meeting. “No matter what your decisions are, I’ll always support them.” “Then continue supporting me,” Harmonia said as she held up Hector’s hand and placed the divorce certificate into it. Hector looked at it, and his face lit up with a smile. “It’s for the best. When should we visit Mom and Dad at Green Hill? I’ll clear my schedule so we can go together.” “Let’s wait until after the Nilus University graduation ceremony.” Hector paused for a moment. As he looked into Harmonia’s shining eyes, he seemed to have understood her intentions. “As you wish,” he said, confirming his status as a doting brother. Harmonia felt warmth bloom in her heart. There was truly nothing like family. “Hector, Kurt mentioned something about not choosing the wrong side. What did he mean? Did something happen?” Chapter 7 Ex-husband Fell Out With Mistress, Continues to Be a Trending Topic Hector furrowed his brow and said, “It’s about the restoration of the Empyrean Tower. I plan to have Marshtown Studio compete with Terran Construction in the bidding. However, Kurt is against this idea.” Marshtown Studio was a gift from Hector to Harmonia after her graduation, but over the years, it had made no significant progress. As the Marsh family did not make their fortune doing construction, the studio’s existence had become a thorn in the eyes of some shareholders. Furthermore, she had secretly made negotiations and then handed over all of the three groundbreaking construction projects, which amazed the world, to Absalom and Terran Construction. Looking back, Harmonia realized how fsilly she had been in the past. Now, with Marshtown Studio stagnating, she felt responsible for the situation. “Is Kurt against it because the Terran family is a heavyweight in the construction industry? And he thinks Marshtown Studio stands no chance and it would embarrass Marsh Consortium?” Hector nodded. “Yes.” “Hector, when does the bidding for the Empyrean Tower start?” “On Monday at 1 p.m., in South Pearl Hall.” Monday? That was the day before the graduation ceremony at Nilus City University. There would not be any scheduling conflicts. In fact, it seemed quite convenient. “Hector, entrust the team to me in secret. I’ll lead the bid this time!” Hector was pleasantly surprised. He smiled and affirmed. “Your divorce was worth it.” His confident and radiant sister had returned! … At this moment, inside the hospital, Absalom placed the paternity test report in front of Luna. “Have you come up with any explanation for this?” On his way here, the news had already spread across the Internet. Luna, being involved, must have heard about it. Luna grasped his clothing. With a pleading gaze, she said, “Harmonia must have fabricated this. She’s trying to sabotage our relationship!” “Relationship? Do we even have a relationship? I wasn’t aware of that," Absalom’s expression was indifferent, and his tone was cold. Luna’s face was as white as a sheet. She was trembling. “Ab, please… You have to trust me. The baby really was your child.” “I’ve asked for a testing.” As soon as he said that, Luna’s eyes widened in shock. She was utterly taken aback. Seeing her reaction, Absalom knew that there was no need for a second test. “Since you had the guts to lie to me, you should have been prepared to bear the consequences!” He was ruthlessly decisive as he turned and left. Luna’s shoulders quivered, and her body went limp. It was as though her core had been ripped away from her. She slumped into the hospital bed. She could not understand how this report had leaked when she had chosen the most private paternity testing facility in Nilus City. If it was indeed Harmonia’s doing, how could she have such capabilities? However, she could not dwell on these thoughts now. After the bankruptcy of the Woods family, it was through Absalom and the support of the Terran family that she was able to live a comfortable life and secure her position in high society. At this moment, she had to find a way out and secure her future. She quickly dialed her mother’s number. “Mom, please help me. Implore my godfather to help me.” … The Absalom and Luna scandal continued to escalate! In order to prevent it from affecting their stock prices, Terran Construction’s PR department immediately issued a statement denying any involvement. The statement emphasized that the child was never Absalom’s and that he had always treated Luna as a sister due to their families being close, with no improper relationships whatsoever. Harmonia had anticipated this and had instructed Alessia accordingly. Soon after, Aureole Media’s paid Internet trolls sprouted up like mushrooms after rain. Chapter 8 Harmonia, What Game Are You Playing Now? “Terran Construction’s statement basically explained nothing! It is the same as using duct tape over a burst water pipe! It only caused the scandal to explode!” “What a load of crap! The fact that his wife has become his ex-wife already explained it all!” “I bet that sister he mentioned is actually his lover! Sometimes, she’s his sister; sometimes when he has needs, she’s his lover!” “Poster above, very well said!” … As it turned out, Terran Construction would have been better off choosing to stay silent! They probably thought the decline in share prices the next day would not be that bad. So, they released the statement and just made things worse! Bang! The intercom was smashed to pieces. Absalom’s eyes were filled with rage as he shouted, “The entire PR department is fired!” … Harmonia remained calm after going through the trending topics, as everything had gone as she had anticipated. She set her phone aside and began handling the transfer of Marshtown Studio’s work in secret. The entire proposal prepared by the team for the bidding was rejected by Harmonia, and they had to start from scratch. The lights in the studio stayed on for several consecutive nights as she and her team worked tirelessly. … On Monday, Harmonia, along with her team and a thick bidding proposal, headed to South Pearl Hall. Five years ago, the Empyrean Tower had been engulfed in a huge fire. The western wing was almost reduced to ruins. Despite being privately owned, it was one of Nilus City’s renowned historic buildings. It represented Nilus City’s identity. Restoring it to its former glory presented an enormous challenge. Most companies would not dare to take on the project. As a result, only two companies were bidding on-site. One was the well-known industry leader, Terran Construction, which was known for its three groundbreaking projects that had amazed the world. The other was the relatively unknown Marshtown Studio, with its sole noteworthy aspect being its affiliation with the wealthy Marsh Corporation. “Marshtown Studio was founded six years ago. Where did they find the courage to compete with Terran Construction?” “The client probably wants to avoid us being the sole contractor and is trying to create some competition. But even so, they should’ve chosen a more credible contender in the industry, right?" “Mr. Terran himself is here. We’ve got this in the bag. Marshtown Studio is just here to make up the numbers and gain some visibility.” The discussions continued in the audience before the bidding had even started. What was more, this bidding event was being live-streamed. Even the viewers in the online chat room were mocking Marshtown Studio’s audacity. Suddenly, the doors on one side of the conference hall swung open! Harmonia, in her high heels, walked in with her team. She caught everyone’s attention. She took off her sunglasses and swayed her flowing hair. Her bold red lips combined with her long wavy hair made quite the entrance! The crowd was dumbfounded. They started nudging each other. Before long, apart from Absalom, all eyes in the hall were fixed on Harmonia. Harmonia remained calm as she led her team toward Absalom’s direction. She took a seat to his right. There was an empty row of seats between them. She gave a wry smile and said, “Mr. Terran, we meet again.” In the past five years, Harmonia had rarely made public appearances. The outside world knew little about Absalom’s wife, and those who had actually seen her were few and far between. The recent buzz had rekindled people’s memory of Harmonia as Mrs. Terran. However, Harmonia had undergone a significant transformation! Who could have imagined that by removing her glasses, changing her loose attire, and perming her hair, she would transform into this astonishing figure? Others might not recognize her, but Absalom, who had been married to her for five years, could not possibly fail to recognize her. Seeing Harmonia in this new style made him feel an impulse to take off his suit and wrap it around her! His brows furrowed as they were separated by an empty row of seats. Yet, disregarding the occasion, he leaned down and grasped her wrist. He narrowed the distance between them. “Harmonia, what game are you playing now?” LEARN_MORE https://shgjfh.com/market/meganovel/13?lpid=10115& 161163937074221 Massive story https://facebook.com/61552493980605 569 1 431,570,906,074,215 2024-03-16 02:00 person_profile eligible 0 0 NONE 0 1 1 1 Learn More 0 Massive story 120210614972770348 shgjfh.com NONE dco https://shgjfh.com/market/meganovel/13?lpid=10115&utm_campaign={{campaign.name}}&utm_content={{campaign.id}}&adset_name={{adset.name}}&adset_id={{adset.id}}&ad_id={{ad.id}}&ad_name={{ad.name}} 2024-03-16 04:53 https://scontent-ord5-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/432016200_1057069522036967_1165334578317698379_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_s60x60&_nc_cat=100&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=dCbZxbArCAAAX9NYHfr&_nc_ht=scontent-ord5-2.xx&oh=00_AfBZgkSqQge3YFk56YMLZlXhipFz8aSsZrBVSR92EUHh6Q&oe=65FD488A person_profile 0 Massive story https://scontent-ord5-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/432396861_321004730981257_6198997443508521076_n.jpg?_nc_cat=105&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=qRoTNlfn9ZsAX8aN6Qk&_nc_ht=scontent-ord5-2.xx&oh=00_AfD7gB938Ixr_khlTCf-HG01hzduGi_7Lad5mFbbnw3lfg&oe=65FBD55D 0 3 Massive story 0 0 2024-03-16 02:00 View Edit

No 2024-03-17 19:14 active 272 0 388615130777915 🔞Attention! Do not read in public!👉 “Harmonia, why is the floor covered in blood?” Absalom’s eyes were icy cold. “Harmonia, what game are you playing now?” LEARN_MORE https://ltjxcvxs.com/market/goodnovel/1?lpid=10241 121885057680157 Random Reading https://facebook.com/61551554669298 17,731 1 419,562,450,616,526 2024-03-16 02:00 person_profile eligible 0 0 NONE 0 1 1 1 Learn More 0 Random Reading 120209304529520779 ltjxcvxs.com NONE dco https://ltjxcvxs.com/market/goodnovel/1?lpid=10241&utm_campaign={{campaign.name}}&utm_content={{campaign.id}}&adset_name={{adset.name}}&adset_id={{adset.id}}&ad_id={{ad.id}}&ad_name={{ad.name}} 2024-03-15 04:38 https://scontent.fric1-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/432637308_1450071725908834_7529761992035096184_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_s60x60&_nc_cat=101&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=K2BqqMc-jBwAX-O23PJ&_nc_ht=scontent.fric1-1.fna&oh=00_AfCqyqELFgJF7EZROr70c-R71oKooMqGxS2ckhBt2F8MLw&oe=65FBEA50 person_profile 0 Random Reading https://scontent.fric1-2.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/432533584_2052915381756054_7313299583695093478_n.jpg?_nc_cat=108&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=yZK-K0S15ncAX-5Za3m&_nc_ht=scontent.fric1-2.fna&oh=00_AfC8d-IpCRU37ccPMJKfviauc973VezcLiMWMSi2jNMBmA&oe=65FC62A2 0 3 Random Reading 0 0 2024-03-16 02:00 View Edit

He didn&#039;t know Charlotte could be so defiant. He felt her break away from his hold. Standing firm, she adjusted her gown with an air of nonchalance.<br /> Before more words could be exchanged, Gordon appeared around the corner. He took an anxious glance at the pair, unnerved by their unexpected interaction. He was worried about the potential complications.<br /> &quot; We should head back, Charlotte,&quot; Gordon suggested, his gaze never leaving Zachary.<br /> Gordon broke the tension with a warm smile before motioning Charlotte to leave with him. &quot;Mom has been trying to reach you. She cooks you some pies. Let&#039;s go back.&quot;<br /> Charlotte merely nodded in agreement, pointedly ignoring Zachary. She turned to Gordon, her voice laced with affection. &quot;Hurry, babe. I don&#039;t want her to worry.&quot;<br /> &quot;Okay.&quot;<br /> As the duo turned around, hand-in-hand, Gordon couldn&#039;t resist sending a smug smile over his shoulder at Zachary. Resuming their departure, Gordon felt a dark voice trailing them. &quot; Is he your new sugar daddy?&quot;<br /> Both Gordon and Charlotte froze for a second, exchanging perturbed glances.<br /> &quot; No, Mr. Sullivan,&quot; Charlotte interrupted, &quot;he&#039;s my husband.&quot;<br /> &quot;Your husband?&quot;<br /> Zachary&#039;s head spun as he struggled to swallow her declaration. His mind swarmed with Charlotte&#039;s statement, each repetition intensifying the burning fury in his eyes.<br /> All Charlotte could offer in response was a scoff. Just as she was about to leave, Zachary seized her wrist firmly, nearly crushing it. &quot;Do you understand what you&#039;re saying, Charlotte?&quot;<br /> &quot;Did you not hear me, Mr. Sullivan?&quot; Charlotte retorted, barely disguising a smirk.<br /> The exposition had just ended when Leo found Zachary, but Charlotte had already left with Gordon.<br /> &quot;Mr. Sullivan...&quot; Leo&#039;s voice wavered with concern.<br /> Over the past three years, the life Zachary led was beyond the comprehension of most, known only to those close to him. Following the Ruby River Bridge catastrophe that consumed the town&#039;s gossip chain for a month, no clues linking Charlotte or their unborn baby to the wreckage had surfaced. Since then, Zachary had become more distanced and closed off.<br /> &quot;I need all the details about Charlotte&#039;s past three years.&quot; Zachary&#039;s demand was delivered with a stern undertone.
