Yes 2024-04-25 19:16 active 606 0 1109090740351226 Read More Exciting Content๐Ÿ‘‰ Calvin is my boyfriend, and we have been together for many years. Although other people in the pack often bully me, if Calvin is around, I can persevere. On that day, Calvin's birthday, I found out that he had an affair with my sister, and I decided to leave the pack. Just as I was about to leave, Alpha King came to our pack, and he captured everyone.
"You want her? She's a human!"
The king released a roar that made every member of the pack flinch and drop their heads lower in submission. With my face only a few inches from the ground, I watched with terror as the king moved away from me and stood before my biggest bully Kate.
The greater distance between us allowed me to see more of him. He was larger than the other Lycans, his body covered in knotted scars that were visible beneath his fur.
His claw was the size of Kate's head as he punched it through her ch#st, ripping her heart out the other side and sending the pack into a flurry of sobs and terrified mumblings for mercy.
"You will do well to teach your pack to respect those above them." The witch's voice called out again, but I was trapped staring at Kate's body as the king pulled his hand out, and it fell to the ground.
I was aware of him walking back to me, but I couldnโ€™t take my eyes away. It was the large hand that grabbed me by my backpack and lifted me off the ground like a doll that brought me back to reality, and I instinctively met the glowing red eyes of the Lycan King.
His deep voice sent a chill through me as he spoke, "Mine."
---
Janet's P.O.V.

I felt uneasy as soon as I entered the pack house. The way my pack mates were smirking at me, laughing behind their hands... I knew they were up to something. Their pranks and bullying had been getting worse and more painful each time they managed to get me alone. My bruises still hadn't gone away from the last time.

My body ached from the beating I had taken two days ago, but I was only a few hours away from it all ending.

I just needed to get to Calvin before they set their plan into motion.

Calvin was my boyfriend of four years. He was the only one that cared for me, and the only one I could trust.

We were high school sweethearts. He was also the next in line to become the Alpha of our pack. That didn't matter to me, but it did matter to the other women in the pack. They hated that he was with me. They felt that they deserved a stronger Luna than I would be, and they all wanted to be his chosen one.

I hadn't even shifted yet. To them, I was no more than an omega...a runt as they liked to call me, the weakest of the litter.

It should have happened three years ago when I turned sixteen, but it didn't. Now I was nineteen, the age at which we could recognize our mates as our wolves should have matured by then. Had I shifted, I would have known Calvin was my mate already, but we had to wait the extra two months until today, his nineteenth birthday, for him to recognize me as his mate.

Calvin didn't care that I hadn't turned. We had been together since before either of us were old enough to shift, and we were both positive that we were mates. He stood by me and protected me from the cruelty of the wolves around us when I failed to shift with the others.

'Calvin? Where are you?' I asked through our pack link but received no response.

"Poor little human, you have a lot of guts to show up here right now. Do you have any idea how happy the pack is? Having you here will just ruin it. This party is for pack wolves only." Kate, my sister's best friend, said as the crowd parted for her, and the music stopped. All of the party guests stopped dancing and talking to watch as the biggest bully in the pack approached me.

The flashing lights of varying colors continued in the uncomfortable silence.

I hoped the man of the hour would see the disruption and step forward to my side, but he didn't. As I glanced around at all of the amused faces, he was nowhere to be seen.

"Calvin invited me. I am in this pack, and I'm allowed to be here." I whispered, but I could feel the heat building in the back of my eyes as they all laughed again. Something was going on, and it was more than just Kate running her big mouth.

"Even he doesn't want you here." She sneered before smiling at me widely. "See for yourself. Where is Calvin, hm? I think he went up to his room. You should go bring him back down to the party and see what he has to say."

I held his present against my chest tighter as I narrowed my eyes. She was up to something, but I wanted to get to Calvin more than I wanted to deal with her b##lsh!t.

As I took a step forward, Kate stepped to the side, and I could feel everyone watching me with amusement as I went up the stairs.

Calvin's room was at the end of the hall behind double doors, and I rushed toward it. I could hear people coming up the stairs behind me, no doubt being led by Kate, but my salvation was only a few feet away.

As soon as I got in his room, I could close the door and act as if none of them existed.

It would just be the two of us.

There was a stirring in the back of my mind as I wrapped my hand around the cold doorknob. It was a warning, telling me not to go inside. It wanted me to turn around and run, knowing this was a trap. Yet, I turned the knob anyway and pushed the door open.

The loud moan of the female beneath my boyfriend made me freeze, and I stared wide-eyed at the couple tangled together.

Calvin thr#st into her quickly, releasing his own groans of pleasure.

My stomach tied in a knot, and it felt hard to breathe. The small spark of light in my life was extinguished, sending my mind into complete darkness as I processed what I was seeing.

He lifted his head, meeting my tear-streaked face, but not seeing me as his wolf was in control. His canines extended just before he latched onto her neck, puncturing the skin and marking her as his mate.

My sister.

"No," I whispered as my hand covered my mouth. Calvin pulled back snarling at the disruption.

"I told you he didn't want you," Kate whispered into my ear, and my sister laughed from beneath my boyfriend as she reached up and ran her hand through Calvin's short blonde hair.

"Would you mind closing the door, Janet?" Kelly asked innocently, but the malicious look in her narrowed eyes showed she was pleased by her victory over me. Not only had she stolen the love of my life, but she was now to be his Luna. "I'm trying to have a private moment with my mate."

Mate.

The word seemed so empty now. Calvin had hated Kelly. He had watched how mean she was toward me and resented her. Now, he was baring his teeth at me, defending her.

"How could you?" I choked out as a sob wracked through my ch#st, and the present in my hold dropped to the floor before me. The sudden and loud noise seemed to snap Calvin back into control, and his eyes returned to their normal brown.

His jaw dropped open as he glanced from me to my sister with guilt, but he didn't look the least bit regretful. He was happy to have found and marked his mate, he only hated that he had been caught cheating. The torn look on his face only made me angrier as he gasped my name while he pulled out of my sister. She sat up as he climbed to his feet, neither of them ashamed to be seen n@#ed.

"Janet, Iโ€ฆ" He said, stepping forward and causing me to take a step away, only to be pushed back toward him by the crowd of on-lookers.

I stumbled forward, trying to stay as far away from him as possible.

The steady stream of tears blurred my vision, and my ch#st hurt as he whispered my name again. "Janetโ€ฆSheโ€™s, my mate." He finally announced, causing the house to cheer in celebration that their future Luna had been claimed. Yes 2024-04-25 19:17 active 606 0 1104857800812770 Read next chapter #Chapter1 Revenge

"Miss Edwards, I need your signature on this consent form for artificial insemination surgery," said the lawyer as he presented the document to Ariana Edwards.

Ariana gripped the pen, her knuckles turning white as she stared at the consent form.

The surgery was scheduled for tomorrow, and today was her wedding.

The donor of the sperm was none other than Theodore Anderson, the eldest son of the wealthy Anderson family, and also her groom.

But fate had dealt a cruel hand. Theodore had been in a horrific car accident three months prior and was now comatose, unlikely to ever recover. His life hung by a thread, and it was uncertain how long he would last.

The Anderson family, known for their fixation on succession and legacy, was desperate to ensure Theodore's bloodline would continue. So his father, Darian Anderson, took it upon himself to get his son a wife. The sperm that Theodore froze years ago was going to be inseminated into the bride's womb before he died.

As Ariana looked down at the consent form in front of her, her complexion was ashen, and her eyes betrayed a subtle sense of panic.

"Please, can you give me some space to collect my thoughts? I need to read through it carefully," she said to the lawyer, her voice trembling with emotion.

After a few seconds of silence, the lawyer nodded and left the room.

The lawyer's departure left the room in an eerie silence. Ariana immediately placed the consent form on the table. She had to call Jasper Anderson, her secret boyfriend, for help.

As fate would have it, Jasper, Theodore's half-brother, was the mastermind behind this wedding.

Ariana's life had been turned upside down by the recent passing of her father, and the ruthlessness of her stepmother, Glenda Edwards. Ariana was left with nothing, not even her deceased mother's belongings which were also taken away.

Just when Ariana felt cornered, Jasper came to her with a proposition: she would pretend to marry Theodore, and they would find a way to sabotage the surgery. After Theodore's death, Jasper would become the sole heir of the Anderson family, and in return, he promised to marry Ariana and help her reclaim her mother's belongings.

Ariana, under Jasper's spell, initially agreed to the plan. However, as the wedding drew closer, she realized that she couldn't go through with it.

Desperately seeking Jasper's comfort and counsel, Ariana tried calling him, but to no avail.

In a state of anxiety, she sneaked out to look for him. She took off her high heels, held them in her hands, and walked down the corridor, her heart racing with fear and anticipation.

Ariana's footsteps came to a sudden halt as she approached the last lounge at the end of the corridor.

A faint noise could be heard coming from the slightly open door. It was the sound of a familiar giggle.

Through the crack, she heard a familiar voice. "Stay with me for a little longer, Jasper. Ariana doesn't have time to look for you now."

Her heart sank, and she inched closer to the door, peering inside through the small opening. She saw Brielle Edwards, her half-sister, and Jasper on the sofa.

Jasper spoke impatiently as he pushed Brielle away to get up. "I need to keep an eye on her. I'm afraid she will have cold feet about the wedding."

But Brielle, carelessly dismissing the concern, got close to him and said, "Oh, stop worrying so much. She always listens to you. Besides, we have her mother's belongings with us. She wouldn't dare to run away."

Jasper seemed relieved. "You're right. Thank you, baby. I will get rid of her when I finish the plan. I only want you..."

Ariana watched in horror as they talked about their scheme against her.

The reality of the situation hit her hard, and she was left reeling, struggling to maintain her balance as she stumbled backward.

The betrayal was too much for Ariana to bear. Her heart shattered into a million pieces as tears streamed down her cheeks.

Fury surged through her veins, and she balled her fists so tightly that her nails dug into her palms. She listened to them with a mix of disgust and rage.

But Ariana was not defeated. She had to take action. She would not let Jasper and Brielle get away with their treachery.

With newfound determination, she wiped away her tears, slipped on her high heels, and strode back to the room. Without a moment's hesitation, she signed the consent form, determined to become the true daughter-in-law of the Anderson family.

And she would make sure that Jasper and Brielle would pay for their betrayal, no matter what it took.

* At night, the Anderson family's residence was illuminated by bright lights, casting a glow over the extravagant surroundings.

Ariana was escorted to Theodore's room by the housekeeper, just after the wedding.

This was the first time she was meeting her so-called husband.

According to Jasper, Theodore was a man with a terrible temper, a bad character, and a cruel personality. He was even cold to his own family. Jasper used every insulting word to describe Theodore, even "ugly."

Ariana had believed Jasper's words and was mentally prepared to face a husband who was anything but handsome. However, when she saw Theodore for the first time, even though he was ill, she couldn't help but notice his inherent nobility and incredibly handsome appearance.

Ariana stood motionless beside the bed, admiring Theodore's stunning features, and began to doubt everything Jasper had told her.

At that moment, Jasper pushed the door open and swaggered into the room, speaking loudly and with no regard for Theodore's condition.

"I'm sorry, Aria. I was too preoccupied today, and I regret not answering your call," Jasper uttered, feigning remorse.

Ariana had to play along with Jasper's scheme for the time being, so she replied, "It's alright. Don't worry about it."

Jasper's smug grin widened. "I knew you would forgive me; you love me too much," he said confidently.

Ariana clenched her fists, containing her fury. "It's late now. We can talk about whatever you wanted to discuss tomorrow."

Jasper locked the door, plunging the room into darkness, and slowly approached her.

Ariana retreated nervously, questioning him, "Jasper, what do you want from me?"

With a wicked smirk, Jasper pounced on her, saying, "We shouldn't waste time. If you carry my child, our child will become an Anderson heir."

Jasper didn't take Theodore seriously. How dare he want to do that right in front of his brother!

Ariana fought back, shouting, "Let me go!"

Jasper abruptly halted, and Ariana gazed up at him, dazed. She saw his expression shift to one of pure terror, as if he had seen a ghost behind her.

In a trembling voice, Jasper muttered, "Theodore..."

#Chapter2 Artificial Insemination Operation

Jasper immediately took to his heels.

Ariana was confused. What was wrong with him? Did Theodore wake up?

She quickly turned around, but she didn't notice anything odd. Theodore was still lying on the bed, and his breath was as steady and quiet as before.

The only difference was that one of his hands was out of the quilt.

Ariana tilted her head and studied the hand for a while. It looked limp, so she felt that it probably fell out when she bumped into the bedframe while trying to dodge Jasper.

"Theodore?" Ariana called tentatively.

There was no response.

She leaned forward and called out more firmly, "Hey, Theodore!"

Still, she got no response.

Ariana swallowed hard and slowly walked to the bedside. She carefully took hold of his hand and put it back under the quilt. Theodore still didn't move a muscle during the process. This eased her mind greatly. It turned out he was still in a deep coma.

Perhaps Jasper had hallucinated.

Ariana breathed a sigh of relief.

The room returned to its usual quietness again. Ariana's heart was still beating fast. For some unknown reason, she feared that Theodore would suddenly open his eyes. She sat on the edge of the bed and stared at him closely. A while later, she dozed off due to tiredness.

The next day, Ariana woke up to find herself lying on the edge of the bed. She quickly turned her head to look at Theodore. To her relief, he didn't seem to have moved an inch the whole night. Ariana felt the weight of uncertainty drop off her shoulders now.

She finally ruled out the possibility that Jasper had really seen Theodore move last night.

Ariana went to the bathroom to wash up. While she was brushing her teeth, her eyes fell on a red mark on her neck. It wasn't there before. It looked like someone had pinched her there recently.

When Ariana remembered the struggle with Jasper last night, she reasoned that the red mark was his doing.

Disgust surged inside her at the thought of that betrayer.

Ariana set down her toothbrush and went back into the bedroom. She put on a turtleneck top to cover the mark.

When she was all dressed up, she went downstairs.

She had just gotten to the bottom stair when Jasper appeared out of nowhere and pulled her into a cubicle nearby.

"Did Theodore wake up last night?" he whispered into her ear, fearing that someone would hear them.

Ariana felt sick to her stomach at the sight of Jasper. She took two steps back and replied expressionlessly, "No, he didn't."

"That's good to know. My eyes tricked me last night. For a second, I thought Theodore opened his eyes and stared daggers at me. Thank goodness it was just an illusion." Jasper took a deep breath, feeling relieved. He flashed his usual sunny smile.

This smile used to send excitement through Ariana's body in the past. But now, she hated it. She lowered her eyes so he wouldn't see the resentment in her eyes.

Oblivious to the real reason, Jasper felt that she was unhappy because of what happened last night. He apologized softly. "I'm sorry about what happened, Aria. I didn't mean to be rough with you."

Ariana forced a smile. "Okay, it's fine."

She then made up an excuse so she could leave the cubicle immediately.

When she got to the dining room, she saw that Darian was already seated at the table. He was a serious man who rarely smiled. After Ariana greeted him, he only nodded slightly. He exuded a cold and uncaring aura.

On the other hand, Sharon, Theodore's stepmother, was enthusiastic. She was Jasper's biological mother, so she probably knew about his plan. It was the only logical explanation for her excessive warmth and friendliness.

Ariana felt uncomfortable throughout breakfast.

Once they were done eating, Darian took her to the private hospital owned by the Anderson family.

Jasper came along. When Ariana was being ushered into the operating room, he gave her a knowing look.

Ariana took the hint.

She smiled to assure him that she hadn't forgotten the plan. But the moment she turned around, her smile vanished. She walked into the operating room with a cold face.

Fear slowly crept into her heart at this time. But when she remembered how Jasper had betrayed her, she gritted her teeth and balled her fists. She was hell-bent on getting revenge and taking back what rightfully belonged to her.

The insemination took about an hour. Ariana, whose face was pale, was wheeled out in a wheelchair. The doctor took off his mask and said to Darian, "Everything went well, Mr. Anderson. Now, we have to wait for about a month to confirm if it is successful."

Jasper's face darkened as soon as he heard this.

In contrast, Darian's usually cold face lit up with a smile. Even a blind man could see that he was pleased with the news. He looked at Ariana with an expression of satisfaction. Afterward, he ordered one of his drivers to drive her and Jasper back home.

On the way, Jasper's face was red with anger. Several green veins became visible on his forehead and temples, but he didn't utter a word.

Ariana didn't bother speaking to him. She looked out of the window, lost in thought.

Once they got out of the car, Jasper flipped out. He grabbed her arm and pulled her to the garden to give her a piece of his mind.

"Ariana! I thought we agreed that you would ruin the operation. Why didn't you do so?" Jasper growled.

As far as Ariana was concerned, she didn't owe this backstabber an explanation. He disgusted her. She shook off his hand and said coldly, "Mind the way you speak to me, Jasper. I'm your sister-in-law now!"

Jasper held his head and let out an angry laugh. He kicked the tree nearby. "What did you just say? Are you kidding me?"

Ariana's heart skipped a beat when she saw his bloodshot eyes. She spun on her heels, but Jasper pulled her back.

"Did I tell you to leave? Don't even dare walk out on me, Ariana! I'm not done speaking to you!" Sparks of fury burned in Jasper's eyes.

Ariana was both scared and annoyed. She tried to break free while glaring at him. "Let go of me!"

Jasper grabbed her with both hands and leaned over. "This wasn't what we agreed on. Are you trying to pull a fast one on me now that you are married to Theodore? Just so you know, you can't get rid of me. There's no telling that you would get pregnant. Even if you do, Theodore won't be able to protect you and your baby."

"Bah! How are you so sure about that? Theodore is still alive, isn't he?" Ariana sneered. "No matter what happens, I'm still your sister-in-law. You better come to terms with it now!"

This comment drove Jasper nuts. He raised his hand to slap her.

But before that could happen, a servant rushed out of the house and shouted, "Ma'am! Mr. Theodore Anderson just woke up. He wants to see you!"

#Chapter3 He Woke Up

Ariana and Jasper were both taken aback by the sudden revelation that Theodore had awakened from his coma.

Jasper's face contorted with anger as he tightened his grip on Ariana's arm, accusing her of deception. "You lied to me? What I saw last night wasn't an illusion. You knew Theodore woke up, didn't you? That's why you've been acting so strange today!"

Ariana refused to explain, her expression turning into a sneer as she shrugged off Jasper's grasp, leaving him behind as she followed the servant's lead.

Jasper seethed with anger, his fists clenching as he watched her retreating form. He kicked a nearby flowerpot in frustration, the sound of shattering pottery echoing through the garden.

The sprawling Andersons' estate was a maze of hallways and rooms, adorned with vibrant flowers in every shade. Ariana made her way down the endless corridor, lost in her thoughts and worries. She finally reached the small villa where Theodore was recuperating, nestled behind the lush garden.

The peaceful surroundings were bathed in warm sunlight, a sharp contrast to the chaos in Ariana's mind.

She couldn't shake the worries that clouded her thoughts, unsure if Theodore had awoken during the night or overheard her conversation with Jasper.

Ariana's heart raced as she contemplated what would happen if Theodore had heard the conversation between her and Jasper.

Her face was drained of color, her eyes filled with fear.

Her husband was known to be cruel and merciless, with power and connections that reached far and wide, even among the police and gangs. Those who dared to cross him often met with a grisly fate.

"Ma'am, here we are." Ariana was jolted back to reality by the servant's voice.

She breathed deeply, steeled herself, and took a slow step inside. Coincidentally, Darian dashed toward her, both of them exchanging brief greetings.

And in silence, they walked through the villa's entrance.

A group of doctors encircled Theodore on the huge bed as they approached.

After the examination, the attending doctor sighed and said, "Although Mr. Theodore Anderson has regained consciousness, the accident has taken a toll on his body, particularly his legs. They are too damaged, and he will never be able to walk normally again. Physiotherapy will take a long time."

Darian's disbelief was palpable. "You mean he's... he's disabled?"

Ariana frowned, and to her surprise, she glimpsed relief in Darian's expression.

"I'm afraid so," the doctor admitted with deep regret.

"I see. You can leave now." With a flick of his wrist, Darian dismissed the doctors and turned his attention to Theodore, wearing an unusually soft smile. "Rest well, Theodore. You shouldn't worry about anything else. I'll find the best doctor to treat your legs."

Then, Darian turned to Ariana and said, "You may have to take care of Theodore from now on."

Ariana almost wanted to roll her eyes at Darian. She couldn't help but think that he was making her his son's caregiver.

Theodore sat propped up against the headboard, his eyes filled with an icy indifference that sent shivers down anyone's spine. He seemed aloof and detached from everything around him, his face shrouded with an icy chill.

Finally, he looked up and locked his gaze with Darian's, asking in a frigid tone, "Who is she?"

Ariana was taken aback by Theodore's short question, unsure how to respond to him. Her heart raced, and her mind raced faster.

She didn't even know how to introduce herself to him.

The thought of Theodore being able to leave this arranged marriage at any moment caused Ariana to shiver.

She had to see her plan through; otherwise, it would all be for nothing.

"She is your wife, Ariana Edwards," Darian said.

Theodore's expression turned colder. "I don't remember having a wife. Where did you find this liar?" he said, disdain dripping from his words.

"I arranged her for you," Darian replied in a tone that was uncharacteristically sharp. "Everyone knows it."

But Theodore wasn't going to let it go so easily. "Then I'll divorce her!" he spat. "Not just anyone can be my wife. If you want someone to take care of me, you'd better hire a caregiver directly."

The words hung in the air, freezing the already tense atmosphere. Darian's face twitched with anger, but he restrained himself. "Divorce is impossible," he said through gritted teeth.

Theodore sneered at Darian. "What right do you have to make decisions for me?"

The tension was palpable in the room as Ariana stood. She felt like a mere onlooker to the father and son's tumultuous relationship.

Darian's voice quivered with fury as he growled, "It was already decided. Ariana just underwent the artificial insemination surgery, and there's a chance she's carrying your child."

Theodore's eyes snapped to Ariana, scanning her form as if she was a mere object.

It felt like an eternity before he chuckled and asked Ariana, "So, should I arrange a doctor for you to get rid of the baby?"

#Chapter4 He Knew It

Ariana was in shock after hearing what Theodore had said. She stood there, paralyzed and speechless.

Darian was seething with anger and lashed out, "What are you saying? This child is of the Anderson family's lineage!"

To this, Theodore replied with icy detachment, "The Anderson family has many descendants. This one can be abandoned. And if you don't want to abandon it, I have ways to make it disappear."

Every word was like a crushing blow to Ariana's heart, leaving her unsettled and anxious.

Darian was beyond furious and he pointed a trembling finger at Theodore. "How dare you speak to me in that manner? You are an ingrate! Do you not consider me your father?"

Theodore let out a cold sneer. "Father? You are not worthy of being called that, Darian."

The atmosphere was tense, as Darian's hand came down hard on the lamp, sending it crashing to the floor.

Ariana took a step back, wary of the explosive emotions of the father and son.

Despite Darian's rage, Theodore remained unperturbed. He appeared to be accustomed to the violent outbursts of his father, casually picking up a glass of water and taking a leisurely sip, unfazed by the intense situation.

Darian took a deep breath, his body radiating anger as he realized there was no use in continuing the conversation. "It's too soon to be discussing a divorce," he said, his words dripping with authority. "Ariana just underwent the artificial insemination surgery. We would only find out if it was successful in a month. If you are still adamant about getting a divorce, then we can discuss it."

He emphasized the last sentence and leveled a sharp look at Theodore, daring him to object.

Theodore, however, sneered and remained silent. Even weakened by his illness, he exuded an aura of power that belied his physical state.

"Think about it," Darian spat out, the frustration clear in his voice, before turning and storming off in a huff.

Ariana stood there, unsure of what to do to break the tension between her and Theodore.

They were married now, and Ariana might have been carrying his child. It would be easier for everyone if they could get along civilly in their future life together.

But then, she thought about how much he must be suffering from his disability and his short temper.

After careful consideration, Ariana decided to take the first step to mend their relationship. If she could show him kindness and care, perhaps she could use his affection for her to advance her own plans for revenge.

Tentatively, Ariana stepped closer to Theodore's bedside and looked upon his handsome face with nervousness.

She hesitated for a moment, steeling herself to start a conversation. His gaze was cold and unyielding, but she had to try. "Mr. Anderson, my name is Ariana, and I'm your wife..."

Her voice trailed off as his icy stare bore into her. She knew she was telling the truth, but he didn't seem to want to accept it.

Suddenly, Theodore's hand shot out and seized hers in a tight grip. Ariana gasped in surprise and stumbled, falling into his arms.

His body was warm and his scent was intoxicating, overwhelming her senses.

As she struggled to right herself, Theodore put his other hand on her nape and pressed her head closer.

Fear welled up inside her as Ariana realized just how dangerous this man could be.

"You don't have what it takes to be my wife. This position demands someone who isn't a coward, someone who isn't afraid of me. Do you have a guilty conscience? Is that why you're so nervous around me?" Theodore's breath was hot on Ariana's neck as he leaned in to whisper these cutting words, causing her to shiver in fear.

He gazed down at Ariana as his slender fingers slid beneath the collar of her turtleneck blouse and then touched her neck with the tenderness of a doting lover.

His gesture sent shivers down her spine and she felt her heart race.

Ariana's voice quavered with trepidation as she stuttered, "I... I don't."

Theodore sneered with a malevolent glint in his eyes, relishing the fear he had induced in her.

Ariana could feel his heartbeat, each thump ringing in her ears like a death knell.

What did he mean by this?

Theodore's voice was low and menacing. "Did you enjoy your time with Jasper in front of me?"

Panic settled in as Ariana realized that Theodore was awake the entire time on their wedding night. He had seen Jasper sneaking into their room.

#Chapter5 Terrifying Husband

Theodore's eyes bored into her, and for a moment, he seemed to take pleasure in her panic. But when his gaze fell on her belly, his expression twisted into one of pure malice. A cold, cruel glint flickered in his eyes, sending shivers down Ariana's spine.

"You'd better hope that you're not pregnant," he hissed, his voice laced with venom. "Because if you are, I'll make sure it never sees the light of day."

Her heart sank as she heard the threat in his words. Theodore was every bit as ruthless as Jasper had warned her. Maybe even worse.

In a desperate bid to save her own life, Ariana lowered her head, her voice trembling with fear as she tried to explain herself. "Theodore, please listen to me. I broke up with Jasper, and I never..."

"Get out!" Theodore's patience ran out, and his face twisted into an icy mask. "I never want to see your face again."

Ariana realized that convincing Theodore was impossible, no matter how much she tried. She hastened to make her escape, but on her way out, she collided with a sophisticated gentleman in a sleek suit.

Trembling, she apologized quickly and bolted out of Theodore's room, not daring to look back.

Once Horace Silence strode into the room, he immediately observed Theodore's intense gaze fixed on the spot where Ariana had vanished. It was as if he was lost in deep contemplation, mulling over something of great importance.

After a moment's reflection, Horace placed a test report on the nearby bedside table.

"According to the doctor, your body is healthy, and after some remedial exercises of your legs, you can fully recover. He will continue to cooperate with your orders and pretend that your legs are disabled. Everyone in the Anderson family believes it," Horace reported to his boss.

Theodore smiled, the satisfaction clear in his eyes. "Let's keep them in the dark for a little longer. I want them to think they are invincible before I destroy them."

Horace then took out another document.

"Boss, this contains information about your new wife, Ariana Edwards," he said, fulfilling his duty as a senior assistant.

Horace moved to place the document on the bedside table, but Theodore snatched it from him.

Horace was a bit surprised. Then he spoke with a touch of hesitancy. "You may be surprised to hear this, boss, but Ms. Edwards lived a miserable life. Her life has been marked by a series of unfortunate events that have left her with little recourse. She lost her mother at the tender age of 13, and shortly thereafter, her father remarried a woman who brought with her a girl. The girl is Ms. Edwards' younger half-sister. The existence of Ms. Edwards' stepmother and half-sister was clear proof that her father had been cheating on her mother for ages.

Fueled by anger, Ms. Edwards left for studies abroad as soon as she became an adult, hoping to escape the pain of her past. However, she didn't get to see her father again before his death. Yet even with her father's passing, she was unable to find closure, as her stepmother seized control of the family's assets and cast her out onto the streets. Given her circumstances, it's possible she felt she had no choice but to marry you..."

Theodore's eyes narrowed as he perused the report, a slight frown marring his features. "Horace, I can read. I don't need you to interpret," he said in a clipped tone.

Horace nodded subserviently, but it wasn't long before he could no longer hold his tongue.

"I just feel that Ms. Edwards' past is a little similar to yours. She also has a stepmother, and wasโ€”"

Theodore's face contorted into a cruel smile as he cut him off. "Do I have to remind you of your surname?" he hissed.

Horace gulped audibly and took a step back. His boss's threat was clear. He knew better than to push the issue any further.

Theodore let out a disdainful snort as he recalled the fear that had been etched on Ariana's face. The memory only served to deepen his frown.

*

Meanwhile, Ariana scurried out of Theodore's room and headed to find the housekeeper, Judy Kelly.

The warm-hearted, slightly plump middle-aged woman took Ariana's hands in hers as she persuaded, "Mr. Anderson has just woken up and he may need some time to adjust. Love requires patience and understanding. Please, my dear, be obedient and tolerant toward him. Things might turn around for the better soon."

Ariana bit her tongue, holding back the retort that she wouldn't please that tyrant even if she was out of her mind.

After Judy arranged a guest room for her, Ariana collapsed onto the bed, exhausted from the day's events. She fell asleep in no time.

The next morning, Ariana jolted awake to the blaring sound of her phone alarm. As she blinked away the sleep from her eyes, she gazed up at the unfamiliar ceiling, her heart heavy with confusion and worry. Her mind swirled with thoughts of her future and how uncertain it had become.

Ariana had foolishly believed that her husband's death was imminent and that she could secure her place as an Anderson family daughter-in-law.

But the reality was far from what she had hoped. Not only had Theodore survived, but he also seemed intent on banishing her from the family altogether.

Ariana groggily reached over and fumbled with her phone until she found the alarm. As she silenced the ringing, a piece of news caught her bleary eyes. "Hundreds of high-price items are on sale at the auction in Ivebridge..."

The headline grabbed her attention, and she leaned closer to read more. Her eyes widened in shock as she saw the first item on the auction block was a necklace that belonged to her late mother.
&2& LEARN_MORE https://fbweb.moboreader.net/38520322-fb_contact-h 102729319508493 Auroch novel https://facebook.com/100092728788928 15,107 1 942,437,951,220,867 2024-04-25 02:00 person_profile eligible 0 0 NONE 0 1 1 0 Learn more 0 Auroch novel 120207861231610389 fbweb.moboreader.net NONE video https://fbweb.moboreader.net/38520322-fb_contact-hys-0320-core1.html?adid={{ad.id}}&char=066827&accid=1319337982076651 2024-04-25 05:37 https://scontent-den2-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/438986666_799829208754024_5302878570420449635_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_s60x60&_nc_cat=110&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=I5QRSMvd1N0Q7kNvgEh3SBp&_nc_ht=scontent-den2-1.xx&oh=00_AfCXtwGj7ydZ4gR0BG13EyGhOSZW2EywXhhchhWQFHUFNw&oe=6630C1F8 person_profile 0 Auroch novel https://scontent-den2-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/439639488_409556158602896_2832725016787364632_n.jpg?_nc_cat=109&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=NW-kOJKvLh4Q7kNvgHec9uW&_nc_ht=scontent-den2-1.xx&oh=00_AfBO3hDAi_aRnuzP4VuZV6wsYWIwoVFVIm11D9Upxur1Sw&oe=6630C215 0 3 Auroch novel 0 0 2024-04-25 02:00 View Edit

&2& LEARN_MORE https://fbweb.moboreader.net/38520322-fb_contact-h 102729319508493 Auroch novel https://facebook.com/100092728788928 15,107 1 3,825,844,484,371,764 2024-04-25 02:00 person_profile eligible 0 0 NONE 0 1 1 0 Learn more 0 Auroch novel 120208788737660245 fbweb.moboreader.net NONE video https://fbweb.moboreader.net/38520322-fb_contact-hys-0320-core1.html?adid={{ad.id}}&char=066827&accid=263741546706881 2024-04-25 05:35 https://scontent.find1-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/440312103_895268529277424_3215414985536630335_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_s60x60&_nc_cat=102&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=7pv4hCKrtYcQ7kNvgH2nxxf&_nc_ht=scontent.find1-1.fna&oh=00_AfBnnb2Rp0-dtFj1K7lVuYDyefUdlwDLO2AzPGHcmW8MNA&oe=6630B893 person_profile 0 Auroch novel https://scontent.find1-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/440340969_797050675298542_7507106672534786421_n.jpg?_nc_cat=108&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=NlOlf2idZqEQ7kNvgFS8vog&_nc_ht=scontent.find1-1.fna&oh=00_AfDIjI0BPgF3ASVWr-KvJTFfbRKUuW1Ou0itNxm_X0Zflw&oe=6630AA4B 0 3 Auroch novel 0 0 2024-04-25 02:00 View Edit

Yes 2024-04-25 19:17 active 606 0 1635359767266812 Read next chapter #Chapter1 Revenge

&2& LEARN_MORE https://fbweb.moboreader.net/38520322-FB_CONTACT-H 102729319508493 Auroch novel https://facebook.com/100092728788928 15,107 3 446,344,201,249,862 2024-04-25 02:00 person_profile eligible 0 0 NONE 0 1 1 0 Learn more 0 Auroch novel 120207696562550389 fbweb.moboreader.net NONE video https://fbweb.moboreader.net/38520322-FB_CONTACT-HYS-0320-Core1.html?adid={{ad.id}}&char=066827&accid=1319337982076651 2024-04-20 13:22 https://scontent-lga3-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/437371810_3656899777898630_3256898887633977493_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_s60x60&_nc_cat=101&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=u5nqXIbGEOQQ7kNvgHc9p74&_nc_ht=scontent-lga3-2.xx&oh=00_AfADCSy4mrJLXqQXXdV3s7PnrOhDADdcxLwcE4n4NFOKXA&oe=6630D890 person_profile 0 Auroch novel https://scontent-lga3-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/437374963_335983819497284_155222638655067536_n.jpg?_nc_cat=109&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=wTwhTzgFuo0Q7kNvgFDncgJ&_nc_ht=scontent-lga3-2.xx&oh=00_AfCZVSOpaMcUjKYfT_N31leJ3b6afe7Qun0pDBk96en-_A&oe=6630B7A1 0 3 Auroch novel 0 0 2024-04-25 02:00 View Edit

But it still doesn't make this right. Imagine finding out that your mate was a two year old toddler".
He looked at me as I pulled a face. "Exactly. That's the age difference between us. It's the equivalent of you dating a baby. It's weird and it's wrong".
"But I'm still your mate".
"Can't you just wait for me to grow up?" I sniffed, feeling another wave of tears from his rejection coming on.
โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”
Werewolves Shift in their teenage years. I hadn't Shifted yet โ€“ it wasn't uncommon to not have Shifted yet, but my brother and my parents had both Shifted in their early teens. Yet, I was sixteen and still hadn't Shifted. Once more, I was the runt of the family.
David hadn't Shifted yet either, but could at any day now, and my mother was sure the two of us were mates. Alpha's mates were only ever daughters of other Alpha's or of Beta's โ€“ so according to that, my mother was obsessed with the fact that I would one day be the pack's Luna. I couldn't think of anything worse.
David smiled at me as he moved to stand next to me. I returned his smile, while his father began to talk about the upcoming visit from an Alpha of a different Pack. Alpha Seth Zev was the Alpha of the Equinox Pack, which was the largest Pack in the country. Alpha Zev wanted support from our Alpha in the current War he was fighting โ€“ I was pretty sure that we wouldn't support him. We were a peaceful Pack, we tried to stay out of fights.
But, everyone was on edge in the Pack. Wars between Wolf Packs were rare, but when they occurred they were drastic. They could cause death and destruction in all the packs if the war was big enough. And with the way I had heard my father talk about the upcoming war, I was pretty sure this one would be catastrophic. I didn't even know what it was about over โ€“ I struggled with listening to things I didn't care about.
"Alpha Zev will arrive tomorrow evening" Alpha Parker told the Pack, "I know it is uncomfortable for everyone, having unknown Wolves in the Pack.
But he is coming on behalf of the upcoming war, to represent all the other Packs fighting against Alpha Deeds. As yet we have not chosen a side in this war, but with the way things are going, we're not going to have a choice but to join".
Chatter ran through the Pack โ€“ both nervous and excited. Nervous because it was a war, excited because it was a war.
Werewolves were funny like that; terrified of death because they were so proud but excited to kill and fight others for the sake of pride. I didn't understand it myself.
"However, I will not decide anything without consulting Howard, Joel and Kelly first" Alpha Parker explained โ€“ talking about my father, the third in command and the current Luna.
"But, regarding this visit, I expect everyone to be in their homes by eight o'clock this evening, unless you are on patrol, working in the dungeons or have spoken to me previously and I have given permission to be excused from curfew. But, as of tonight, there is an entire Pack wide curfew of eight and anyone found breaking that will face consequences".
There was a moment of silence, as the Pack shared worried looks. "That is all for tonight. I expect you all in your house by eight tonight. You're dismissed".
Dom, Jared and Chris all turned to face me. "You heard the Alpha, May, we have a curfew now" Dom frowned.
"Don't be a coward, Dom" I rolled my eyes at him, the other boys laughed at me.
"Hey, I'm not a coward" Dom snapped back, "but some of us aren't the Beta's daughter".
"That just means she's going to get in more trouble, not less idiot" Chris hit back. I pumped my fist with Chris, as we laughed at Dom. Dom turned almost as red as his hair, as he narrowed his eyes at us.
"Fine, let's go. But I'm not going for long" he finally caved.
One second we were all standing there, the next the pricks attacked us. My head hit the concrete ground, when one of them pushed me over. They didn't care I was a girl, they'd happily beat me up. I tried to push Mac off me, as he held me to the ground, but it was pointless. I was extremely strong for my size but that did nothing once I was already pinned.
"You okay May?" Chris asked me, kneeling down beside me. I sniffed, wiping my eyes, as he helped me to my feet.
"I want to go home" I whispered, feeling both my face and my ego bruising.
Chris was my closet friend โ€“ I loved Jared and Dom, but Chris and I had been friends for a lot longer. We'd originally gone to school together, but then my parents moved me to the other school close to the Pack, as it had a better sports programme.
"Yeah but if we go back and beat them up, then we'll be just as bad as they are" Chris replied. I looked up at him and frowned. His blonde hair was swept back and his green eyes shone. As a kid I always hoped I would Shift and find out that Chris was my mate, but after being friends for so long, I quickly backtracked on that. He was my best friend and more like a brother than a boyfriend.
Chris chuckled softly, "yeah I guess so".
We reached my house first and we both came to a stop. "What are you going to tell your parents about that bruise coming?" Chris asked, placing his finger gently on my cheek bone and grimacing. I shrugged out of his touch and pulled my baseball cap further down. "That's not going to work, May" he frowned.
"I'll just tell them I fell off my board. It's worked every other time" I shrugged.
Chris sighed, but nodded. "Yeah. I'll see you tomorrow?"
"Depends on this whole Alpha Zev nonsense. My parents are really obsessing over it" I rolled my eyes. I glanced at my watch, "you've got ten minutes to get home before curfew. I'll see you later".
"Sure, bye May". He gave me a small wave, before made a move to walk away.
"Hey Chris" I called after him. He turned back to me with an eyebrow raised in questioned. "What do you think about this war thing?"
"I'm nervous. A war this big has probably never happened before. When we join โ€“ when not if โ€“ I'm probably going to have to fight. By the time the battle begins, I should have Shifted. I'm all over the place at the moment, I don't think my Shift is far away".
"I want to join the war" I admitted.
"A lot of people are going to die in this war, May, you know that right?"
"I know...but I don't really feel much like a normal Wolf lately. My father said the atmosphere of a war will be so violent, it might bring a lot of the young Wolves Shift's out".
"Really?" Chris asked in shock.
"Apparently the instinct to protect ourselves will bring out the Shift quickly. A self-preservation sort of thing" I explained. "I want to be part of the war so I might finally Shift".
"Mabel Elizabeth Thorne. What happened to your face?" she screeched.
"I fell" I shrugged.
"Off that skateboard I bet" she growled angrily. I simply shrugged, not wanting to tell her that I'd actually been beat up. "Alpha Zev and several of his men are in the territory as we speak. We are supposed to be going around to the Alpha's house in an hour, for goodness sake Mabel".
"Then just leave me here" I offered.
"I don't think so. We'll just try and cover it up with makeup".
"Ew no thanks" I turned my nose up, "I don't want that all over my face".
"Mabel" she shook her head, "why can't you just be a normal sixteen year old for once?"
"Geez thanks, love you too" I muttered in annoyance.
"If you're not going to let me put makeup on you, please at least wear your hair down" she said. I rolled my eyes as we began to eat dinner. Everyone talked as we ate but I silently thought of ways to get out of going to see this other random Alpha. I couldn't think of any good excuse.
"Right, Mabel, go get changed" my mother said, as we cleared away the plates.
"I'm changed" I replied. Once more I thought my mother was going to pass out. She opened her mouth, closed her mouth, opened her mouth once more, before turning to my father for help. I hated when they ganged up on me.
"Darling, just put something a bit neater on. You know what Alphas are like" my father said for her.
"You mean, you know what mothers are like" I grumbled under my breath.
"What was that?" he narrowed his eyes.
"I'll go change now" I sighed, slipping out the kitchen. Back inside my room, I looked in the mirror and sighed heavily. I wore a pair of ripped jeans, a white shirt, and some Nike sneakers. My hair was pulled back and the ugly purple and yellow bruise ran up the left side of my face.
In annoyance, I changed into a pair of black skinny jeans โ€“ the only pair without rips in them โ€“ before pulling on a tight red shirt and my newest leather jacket. I then pulled some different sneakers on.
Frowning at myself in the mirror, I took my hair out of the ponytail. My dark curls fell around my face, and to my mid-back, looking crazy and unruly. I didn't dare take a hairbrush to it โ€“ it would just make it look like a lion's mane. So I grabbed some hair mouse, dabbed a bit on my hand, before running it through my hair. It calmed it slightly, but it was still just a curly mess but at least it now looked like it was supposed to be a curly mess.
"Well it ain't going to get any better than this" I muttered to my reflection. My face was a small love heart shape, with large round eyes and small features. Freckles spread over practically every part of my face โ€“ I hated those freckles. Even with my dark Latin skin, the freckles still stuck out. I was cute but in a twelve year old sort of way.
"Watch your language Ro" my father hollered back at him. Rolling my eyes, I turned away from my reflections and headed out my room. I walked with my family to the Alpha's house, trailing slightly behind them as they chatted about something. "Mabel, keep up" my father snapped.
When we reached the Alpha's house, Alpha Parker invited my parents into his office where he was having a drink with Alpha Zev and his Beta. "Darling, why don't you go hang out with David" my mother suggested. I rolled my eyes, hating that she was still trying to convince herself that I was going to be David's mate.
They disappeared into the study and I rolled my eyes when I was left alone. "Hey Mabel" David said, as he came down the stairs.
"My name is May" I corrected him. He nodded before walking into the lounge, I reluctantly followed him. Inside was three Wolves I didn't know. David smiled at them as he sat down in the lounge. The three men were obviously from the Equinox Pack.
"Hey kid is this your girlfriend?" one of them asked, smiling in my direction.
"No" I snorted.
"May is the Beta's daughter" David explained. "But we're probably going to be mates. We'll see when we Shift" he shrugged.
"Unlikely manhood" I muttered under my breath.
"What?" David asked.
"I want a drink" I said allowed, and I saw the three men smirking as they'd actually heard what I said. "I'm going to get a drink". Turning my back to David and three unknown Wolves, I headed into the kitchen.
As I stood there in the kitchen, I glanced out the window. Outside on the porch stood a man on his phone. He was beautiful โ€“ there was no other words to describe him. He was tall with dark hair and bright blue eyes. His large arms bulged out of his tight black t-shirt and his blue jeans hung low on his lips. He was larger than most men; with muscles on every part of his body. "Wow" I whispered.
I'd never had a crush before, but I had one right then.
"That's Seth" a voice behind me said. I screamed in shock as I spun around, turning away from the hot man, and to one of the unknown Wolves.
"I...um...what?" I asked, blushing as red as a tomato. The Wolf smirked at me in amusement. His ash coloured hair was pulled back in a small bun at the back of his head, as his golden skin shone. He was attractive but nothing compared with the guy outside.
"I said that guy you were eye raping is called Seth" he teased. "He's my Alpha".
"That's Alpha Zev?" I asked in shock.
"Yep, that's him" he laughed. I glanced back out the window, but he was gone. The unknown Wolf laughed at me again. "He's a bit old for you kid". He messed up my hair, causing me to glare at him, before he opened the fridge and had a look inside. "You want a coke?"
"Sure" I shrugged. He pulled out a second can and handed it to me, before kicking the fridge shut. "What's your name?"
"Dean" he smiled, "I'm the third in command".
"Cool" I muttered.
"You don't really find that cool do you?" he smirked at me, hearing my sarcasm even though I didn't actually say it sarcastically.
"No I don't really care" I told him bluntly. He spluttered a laugh at me.
"You got bad language kid, I dig that" Dean winked at me. I just gave me a look before walking past him. He followed me back into the lounge, where I sat down next to David. "Right kid, this is Jenson and Ollie" Dean introduced me to the other Wolves โ€“ Jenson a blonde with nice eyes and Ollie a dark skinned man who was very attractive. Not as attractive as his Alpha, but pretty attractive.
"Guys this is May. She's a mouthy kid who has a thing for Seth".
"I do not have 'a thing' for your Alpha" I snapped at Dean, as I blushed and the men laughed at me.
"So why else were you staring at him like a stalker?" he mused. I knew he was trying to get a rise out of me, but I was embarrassed so I rose to the bait.
"Because I saw a strange Wolf in my territory and I was curious who he was" I snapped back โ€“ a blatant lie.
"Sure" Dean commented sarcastically.
"Mabel" David began and I rolled my eyes.
"May" I corrected him through gritted teeth. "My name is May". At my language, Jenson and Ollie raised their eyebrows in shock โ€“ Dean just laughed in amusement.
"Well it's not" David retorted, "your name is Mabel, you just like to go by May".
"David, shut up" I rolled my eyes at him. I didn't understand why the fourteen year old future Alpha annoyed me so much, but there was just something about him.
"Mabel" a familiar voice boomed. "I will not tolerate that language" my father snapped. With my back to him I rolled my eyes, before turning back and smiling softly at him.
"Sorry Dad" I simply said. I stood up, as everyone else in the room did, when I noticed that my parents had come in with everyone else. Among the other people were two more unknown Wolves โ€“ well one of them was known to me because I had seen him outside.
Alpha Seth Zev was even better in person; with both strength and dominance. His bright blue eyes looked over the room before they landed on me. I blushed slightly as he caught me staring at him. But he didn't instantly look away, instead he looked me up and down โ€“ checking me out I realised.
"Mate" he snapped, and everyone in the room gasped in shock.
My father was the first to the break the silence, by turning to Alpha Zev โ€“ to Seth โ€“ who claimed I was his mate. "You are mistaken" my father growled in fury.
Seth narrowed his eyes at my father, "I am not mistaken. She is mine".
"She is a child" my father argued. Seth looked back over at me, looking me over once more before he seemed to grasp what my father was saying.
"How old are you?" he asked me, seeming to snap out of his protectiveness. I opened my mouth to answer but my father beat me to it.
"She is sixteen. She hasn't even Shifted yet" he snapped. "There is no way she is your mate. You're old enough to be her father".
Seth snorted, "not quite. But, yes, I see your point". He sighed heavily, running a hand down his face looking stressed. I wasn't really sure how to take the entire situation. I hadn't Shifted, so I didn't feel the mating bond yet. But I was extremely attracted to Seth, extremely.
"Perhaps I made a mistake" Seth said, looking at me again. "She is too young to be my mate".
"You don't make a mistake about the mate bond" Dean shrugged. "She's obviously your mate dude".
"There is a fourteen year ago gap" Alpha Peters frowned, "has anyone ever heard of an age gap that big between mates before?" No one said anything as I bit the inside of my cheek โ€“ not sure what to say. It shocked me that Seth was thirty, I mean that seemed pretty old to me.
"Mates are supposed to be similar ages. This is not right" Seth growled angrily.
I frowned in annoyance, "you don't want me as a mate?" The question came out before I could stop it. Seth looked at me, his blue eyes cold and guarded.
"I'd rather not have a child for a mate" he snapped at me. I was taken back slightly by his hostility towards me.
"Dude, chill out" Dean spoke up. "It's not her fault there is such an age gap".
"This is wrong" Seth roared, throwing his hands up in anguish. At his anger and dominance, a lot of the Wolves stood up straighter and became more alert. In all the mate business I had forgotten that Seth was one of the strongest Alpha's in the country โ€“ it was understandable he was feared. "This is so wrong" Seth snapped.
"I need some space to think" Seth began.
"I--" I began, not sure what I was actually going to say. But it didn't matter, Seth cut me off before I got more than one word out.
"Away from you goddammit" he growled, eyes glowing menacingly at me. Instantly my eyes began to water as he spun on his heels and stormed away from me. A few seconds later the front door slammed. There was a moment of stillness between everyone. Then the only Wolf I hadn't been introduced to in the room, turned to Dean.
"He might listen to you. Go after him" he told the third in command.
"Will do boss" he walked past me and gave me a wink. "See you later kid".
I wiped my eyes with the back of my hand, feeling pathetic as everyone else just looked at me. It was my mother who finally broke the silence. Moving over to me, she put her arm around me. "Howard, I'm taking her home" she told my father. My father nodded in agreement.
Feeling too confused and upset, I let my mother tow me out the house. I was sniffing, trying not to cry, the entire walk home. My mother had her arm over my shoulders as we walked in silence, but it didn't make me feel any better.
"Here, sit down, honey" my mother said, when we got home.
"I think I just want to go to bed" I told her.
"But Mabel--"
"I need to think" I snapped at her, cutting her off. My voice broke slightly as I tried to control my emotions. I wasn't even sure what I felt really โ€“ but I felt rejected more than anything.
Not letting my mother argue, I turned away from her and rushed up the stairs. Inside my bedroom I locked the door, before leaning against it. I stood there for a moment before sliding down the back of it. I couldn't make sense of anything โ€“ my mate was the Alpha of the biggest Pack in country, but he didn't want me.
Seth was incredibly attractive and I was sure he had girls falling over him all day. It shouldn't have been a shock that he didn't want me as a mate โ€“ not only was I a rude teenager, I wasn't even a pretty rude teenager. I looked like I was twelve and the guy was thirty. I shouldn't have been surprised he didn't want me.
But I felt like I had just been sucker punched. I hadn't given the idea of finding my mate so young a lot of thought, but when I did think about it I was older and my mate didn't care what I looked at. My mate should have loved me for me, not caring that I wasn't as pretty as most She-Wolves.
Seth shouldn't have cared about my age or my looks. But he did.
I sat with my back to the door for about an hour, just thinking about everything that had gone down in the five minute's I'd been inside the Alpha's house. It was a farce how quickly everything had happened. Seth saw me and within seconds he wanted to reject me.
A little voice in my head told me that he hadn't rejected me and maybe he was going to run back to me and apologise, and tell me that my looks didn't matter and my age didn't matter because I was his mate.
But he didn't come running back.
I showered, having a small pity cry to myself, before climbing into my bed. Resting my head on the pillow, I wondered if there was anything I should have done differently when meeting Seth. But then I knew that it didn't really matter โ€“ our relationship was doomed the moment he saw me. To him, I was just a kid. And he had a Pack to run, a War to fight and real life responsibilities, while I spent my days trying to avoid bullies and getting annoyed when soccer practice got cancelled. I was just a kid, and he was a very powerful Alpha.
"May, you in there?" a voice called out, a soft knock on the door.
I unlocked my door and looked up to see Dean โ€“ Seth's third in command. "Did I wake you up?" he asked, glancing at me with a smirk. I wore a pair of old batman pyjama pants with holes in them, with a black tank top, and my hair still looked like I had been electrified.
"Yeah. What do you want?" I sighed, my voice hoarse from waking and crying the night before.
"Came to see if you were alright" he shrugged, smiling softly at me. I narrowed my eyes in annoyance, trying to brush my hair down.
"My parents let you in?" I asked in shock.
"No, your father refused to let me in. So I waited until everyone had left before climbing in the window" he grinned brightly. I looked at him, trying to gage if he was lying or not. When I realised he wasn't, I was both shocked he'd broken in but more shocked that my parents were letting me have the day off school.
"I'm fine. Go away". I took a step back, getting ready to push the door shut. His hand snapped out look and stopped the door. I tried to push against him but he just looked at me sarcastically.
"I have super strength, kid, and you're wearing batman pants" he smirked.
"Go away Dean. I don't want you here" I snapped at him. I dropped my hand from my bedroom door and he instantly sobered up.
"I'm sorry about how Seth acted yesterday. He was just shocked is all, you have to understand that he's thirty and you're still a kid. He wasn't expecting it" he explained.
"Uh-huh, and why isn't he here explaining himself?" I demanded.
"He wants to but--"
"He's the Alpha of the biggest pack in the country, if he wanted to be here then he would. He doesn't want me as a mate".
"No he does want you as a mate, but he...um...he is..."
"Please go away, Dean. You're making me feel worse" I told him. He stopped the door before I could close it again.
"Look just get dressed and let me take you to him. No matter what happens you need to at least speak to him" he told me, his eyes looking at me seriously. Running my hand down my face, cringing as I touched my bruised face, I thought over it all.
"Fine, let me get changed" I sighed โ€“ knowing that he was right. Even if he was going to deny me as his mate, he still needed to tell me to my face that he was not accepting me. I needed to get it over with. Dean was thankful and disappeared out my room and downstairs.
I thought about using some makeup from my mother's room, but knew that I would never be able to apply any of it, so quickly dismissed this idea. "Get a grip on yourself May" I whispered to my reflection. "Whatever he does, just don't cry in front of him. You're not that weak, you don't have to cry in front of him".
I gave myself once last nod of encouragement, before heading out the room.
"What?" Seth called out โ€“ inwardly I shivered and reacted to his husky, masculine, voice.
"It's me" Dean called.
"We're leaving. Today. I want to go before I have to see her again" Seth roared. Mentally I whimpered in upset, but externally my face was blank. Dean looked at me in sympathy before trying to open the door. It was locked. "Dean, it's locked" Seth confirmed.
"Open it up man. You need to speak to your mate".
Seth growled, storming across the room. "My mate is--". He opened the door and came face to face with Dean and I.
"Your mate is right here" I commented with a frown. Seth looked me over once more โ€“ his face as blank as mine. I couldn't help but admire him again; he was honestly the most attractive man I'd ever seen in my life. He was beautiful.
"Why did you bring her here, Dean?" my mate demanded, glaring at his friend.
"Because she's your mate. And bringing her here was probably the only way to snap you out of these crazy ideas". He pushed me towards his Alpha and I practically fell into the bedroom when Seth moved out of the way โ€“ not wanting to touch me.
"Ow" I complained, as I steadied myself. I turned back and glared at Dean. "I've not Shifted, prick, that hurt".
"Sorry kid" he winked at me. Seth looked between Dean and I with a frown, before the third in command turned on his heel and walked away. There was a moment of pause, as Seth just looked at me before he stepped out of the doorway.
"Leave" he ordered me, gesturing to the door. Inside my heart was hurting, but I remained cool and calm. Walking further into the room I took a seat on the edge of the large bed โ€“ trying to take a mental gulp of courage. I may have felt ridiculous but I knew that I needed to fight for my mate. Because I did want Seth to love me, or at least I wanted him to try.
"I'm not leaving, you owe it to me to at least speak to me" I stated, noticing that my voice was slightly shaky. Seth looked at me for a moment, before kicking the door shut aggressively. I jumped in shock at the sound. Seth noticed my nervousness and smirked at me โ€“ in the same way a cat looked at a mouse.
"Nervous, freckles?" he teased me.
"No" I scoffed.
"You should be" he replied, as he moved towards the bed where I sat.
I gulped deeply, "you won't hurt me. I'm your mate".
"Who said anything about hurting you, freckles?" He reached me and glared down at me. I took a shaky breath as I looked up into him. But it wasn't because I was scared but because I was nervous โ€“ I didn't know what to say to him. "Come on freckles. You refused to leave, so why are you here?"
"I'm your mate" I whispered, looking into his beautiful blue eyes.
"You're a kid".
"I'm sixteen".
"Like I just said, you're a kid" he retorted.
"But I'm still your mate, Seth" I began, using his name for the first time. I saw Seth's eyes narrow when I used his name. But he remained silent. "We only get one mate. I'm yours and your mine. I get that I'm a lot younger than you and that I'm not pretty like a lot of the other She-Wolves. But I'm the only mate you're ever going to get".
Seth was quiet for few moments before nodding. "You're my only mate, I get that. But it still doesn't make this right. Imagine finding out that your mate was a two year old toddler". He looked at me as I pulled a face. "Exactly. That's the age difference between us. It's the equivalent of you dating a baby. It's weird and it's wrong".
"But I'm still your mate".
"Yeah" he sighed. He ran a hand through his dark hair and silently looked at me. "What happened to your face?" he demanded suddenly. I blinked in confusion. "Your face. It's bruised. What happened?" he elaborated.
"I fell".
"That doesn't look like a fall. It looks like you were in a fight". He raised a thick dark eyebrow at me. I shrugged uncaring but not wanting to talk about it.
"You're changing the subject" I commented โ€“ changing the subject back.
"Now you're changing the subject by changing the subject".
"Now you're changing the subject by stating that I'm changing the subject by changing the subject" I retorted back, crossing my arms over my chest.
His eyebrows dipped, "what?"
"I'm your mate" I snapped angrily. "Don't you care about me at all?"
"Mabel please understand--".
"May".
"What?" he asked again.
"May. I go by May, not Mabel. I hate that name" I informed him.
"Fine, May, you need to understand that we're probably not going to work out. Sometimes mates aren't just meant to be. And we are that couple". He gave me a condescending smile. "You're a sweet kid but I don't want you as a mate".
"Can't you just wait for me to grow up?" I sniffed, feeling another wave of tears from his rejection coming on.
"Because it's not just that May".
"It's because I'm not pretty, isn't it? I bet if I was pretty you'd want me. You're just using this age thing as an excuse" I blurted, a few tears spilling out my ducts and down my cheeks. I angrily wiped them away.
