I'm sure we can work something out."
"To be honest, I'll do anything to get home, so deal," Angel says. "Wait! Not intercourse. Not that you want intercourse, but I've never had intercourse before, so I'm probably terrible at it and it would be great if someone would make me stop talking now."
"Intercourse will not be required," Logan confirms. A sliver of disappointment runs through her.
"Deal!" Angel agrees, knowing she doesn't really have a choice.
————————
Logan
"Don't kill me." I look up from the email I'm reading on my phone as Kelly and I make our way to the airport. We've been in LA for a week now, and I was ready to get out of here. Though it may not be all that terrible if I got stuck out here over the holidays. At least I wouldn't have to see my family. That would be a nice perk.
"What did you do?" I know it can't be over the Canister deal. The three-day grace period to break the contract is over, and I made a killer deal on a shipping port.
It was going to not only make me millions on my imports, but it was going to save me money as well. Land like that is hard to get out there. A decade ago, my family owned one there. Then my father went and sold it because he needed the money. In the long run, it only hurt the company. That was all my father seemed to do when it came to Duncan Imports and Exports.
Under his reign of the company, he blew through a few billion dollars, taking the company to its knees about the same time I was graduating college. I stepped into a mess and started cleaning it up. It wasn't long before my father was off the board and I had taken his spot. My grandfather was on the committee and voted his own son out and me in.
I've turned things around not only because it is my job but because it's my family name. And to be totally honest, it was also a small screw you to my father as well. It's always nice to get a few in on that wanker.
"I can't do the holidays with you and your family."
"What?" I pull at my tie I still have on. "Why not? We're engaged."
"Tell them I'm sick?" Kelly suggests.
"They'll think you're knocked up," I say dryly. That would spread like wildfire.
"I've met someone. I'm sorry, Logan. It was fast, and well, I'm pretty sure I'm in love and hope that maybe one day soon she'll let me knock her up." I stare at Kelly waiting for her to laugh and tell me she's joking. But her laughter never comes.
This whole fake engagement started when the board suggested I settle down to put some people at ease. Kelly actually made the suggestion. It worked out well. With her being into women, she could still date and no one would think she was out cheating on me. As for me, I didn't get to do anything. It wasn't only due to the whole engagement thing. I don't have the time or inclination to date for real.
I drop my head back, closing my eyes. I can already see my mother trying to hook me up with someone. She is all about image. Not much matters to her other than that. She was pissed when I told her Kelly and I were engaged.
Kelly didn't come from a rich family or bring any connections that my mom deemed as worthy to the table. That was another perk to being engaged to her. It made my mom mad. I'd be lying if I said that didn't give me some sort of pleasure.
"I'm going to miss you taking my mother on." I let out a long sigh. Kelly never let my mom get away with her backhanded compliments. She didn't outwardly call her out on them; she just tossed them right back at her, and Kelly's cut to the bone. It was entertaining to watch. "I guess I'm supposed to say congratulations," I grumble.
"Come on. We had to break up at some point. Everyone is already asking why we haven't gotten married yet." I don't say anything. There isn't anything to say. She found someone. I'm happy for her. Kind of. Marriage and the whole kids thing looks miserable, if you ask me. My parents can't stand each other. Who would willingly sign up for a lifetime of that nonsense? Not me. No thanks.
"Would it be so bad for you to try to date? You might actually want to get married if you find the right person." I glare at her. "I know we said marriage is for losers, but we might be wrong."
"There is something wrong with you. I can't believe those words came from your mouth."
"Yeah, I know. I think love makes you do and say crazy things." She lets out a small laugh before her face grows serious. "All we do is work, Logan. From the moment we left college we've had our feet on the pavement. I don't want my entire life to be work anymore."
"And look what we've done." I hate change, and this has change written all over it.
"I really wish I could explain what I'm feeling so you would understand, but I think this is one of those things you have to live and learn yourself to understand fully." She's drunk the Kool Aid, and I don't think there is saving Kelly at this point.
We ride the rest of the way to the airport in silence. We both grab our bags and hurriedly make our way to the private entrance area knowing we need to get wheels up before the runways start to get any slicker than they already are. Kelly alerts them that we're here and to bring the plane around as we walk quickly.
I lean up against the wall, playing with my phone as we wait. My eyes are drawn to a dark-haired girl that is pulling a piece of luggage coming our way. I stand up straighter as she starts to draw closer. Her head is down, and I will her to look up at me. Why? I have no clue. But I can't seem to stop myself from staring at her.
For a brief moment I see her face. Full cheeks that are flushed with plump lips and a button nose. She's a tiny thing.
"You're staring." Kelly elbows me in the side. I keep right on staring, not wanting to look away from the young girl. When she drops her face into her hands and bursts into tears, I find myself moving. Kelly grabs my arm. "What are you doing?" I look from Kelly to the girl. What was I doing? "Actually, never mind."
She releases my arm before I can shake her off, and I continue on my path straight for the beautiful girl crying her heart out, knowing nothing could stop me. I am a sick wanker. She's crying her eyes out, and I'm harder than I've even been in my whole life.

Angel
"Are you okay?" I jerk my head up at the sound of someone talking. I look up at a man in a fancy suit towering over me. His dark green eyes stare down at me almost to the point of glaring. His hands are in his pockets.
"I'll be okay." I sniffle. He pulls out a handkerchief from the inside of his suit, handing it to me. "Thanks." Of course one of the hottest men I've ever seen in person is in front of me right now. I'm sure I look like a hot mess. This day is getting worse by the second.
"Are you waiting for your plane?" the man asks.
I shake my head no. "My flight was cancelled."
He gives me a puzzled look. "The private flights are still heading out for the next"—the handsome man looks down at his watch—"thirty minutes."
I glance around the area I'm sitting in. "I was booked on a commercial flight." Clearly. I blow my nose into the soft napkin. I hear a soft laugh which draws my attention to the woman who is about ten feet behind the man in front of me. I'm guessing it's his wife. She too is dressed in a suit. She's stunning. They make a beautiful couple.
"Where are you headed?" he asks.
"I was hoping to get home." I notice the handkerchief he handed me has his initials embroidered into it. "Oh my God! I'm so sorry. I blew my nose in this." I bet it's one of those crazy expensive handkerchiefs that's a hundred dollars or something nuts for a small square of cloth.
"Is your boyfriend waiting at home for you?"
My eyes jerk back to him. Is he trying to see if I'm single? All I can think about is that I'm a freaking mess and that I've ruined his handkerchief. Why is he asking me about a boyfriend when his wife is standing a few feet away? I shake my head no, but I have to admit that I'm a little annoyed.
"Family."
"Where?"
"Rocky Hill."
"What's your name?"
"Angel."
His eyes roam over me, and he smirks.
"Logan, our plane is ready," the woman behind him says.
"Give me your ID, Angel." He holds his hand out. I find myself digging for it in my purse. My Kindle and a few other things fall out onto the floor in the process. He bends down, picking them up. The screen of my Kindle comes on, and I watch his thumb slide over it to open it.
"Don't!" I smack his hand, making him drop it. It hits the ground again. I cringe, hoping I didn't break it.
He stares at me in shock for a moment. "You hit me."
The woman behind him lets out a small laugh.
"Oops?" I say. I can't believe I hit him either, but a Kindle is private.
"I think you meant to say sorry, Angel. Now if you would give me your ID." I go back to finding it for him. I just tossed it into my bag after I got through security. This is what I get for not putting it back into its slot.
"Found it." I hold it up. "Wait. Why do you want this?" He snatches it out of my hand, taking it over to the woman at the counter. They share a few hushed words before he returns to me.
"I think it might be our lucky day. I can get you to Rocky Hill, and you can get me through the holidays." I furrow my eyebrows because I have no idea what he's talking about.
"What?" I finally ask, confused. "You'll get me home?" That's the only part I really hear. I jump to my feet and throw myself at him. He catches me, taking a step back. I hug him tight.
"I said I can get you home, Angel. I didn't say I would." I release my hold on him. but I don't go anywhere. I realize my feet are dangling at least a foot off the ground. But he's not making any attempt to put me down. It's then I remember that his wife is standing behind us. Before I can say I'm sorry, he starts talking.
"I need a fake fiancée, and you need a plane. I'm sure we can work something out."
"We're good to go." The woman holds up my ID. Her eyes bounce between Logan and me. I think it's safe to say they aren't a thing because the man holding me is looking for a fiancé?
"Logan. This is not a good plan. You can't take this girl with you to your parents. They'll eat her alive. Look at her. She looks like she teaches the second grade."
"What's wrong with teaching the second grade?"
They both ignore me.
"It will work. All she has to do is agree, and she doesn't have much time." He lifts his eyebrows.
"To be honest, I'll do anything to get home, so deal," I say. "Wait! Not intercourse. Not that you want intercourse, but I've never done intercourse before so I'm probably terrible at it and it would be great if someone would make me stop talking now."
The woman bursts into laughter. Logan's hold on me only tightens at my admission.
"Intercourse will not be required," he confirms. A sliver of disappointment runs through me.
"We have to go now," the woman says through a laugh.
"Deal!" I agree, knowing I don't really have a choice.
"We'll go over the details on the plane." Finally, he puts me back on my feet before grabbing my roller suitcase. I grab my big purse. I think this might be the luckiest thing that has ever happened to me. Logan snags me around the wrist and starts to pull me toward two double doors that lead onto the tarmac. I move along with him.
It isn't until we're at the stairs of the plane that he finally releases his hold on me. He motions for me to walk in front of him. My eyes almost pop out of my head when I see how luxurious the inside of the plane is. I've never even flown first class. Never mind in something so sleek and elegant as this.
"Good morning, Miss Meyer," the man says to me, giving me a bright smile. He looks to be a few years older than me.
I read his name tag. "Thank you, Cory." I glance around the plane, not sure where I should sit. It's not a normal floor plan. There is a sofa on one side. Another section has four chairs around a table. Then there are a few bigger chairs that look extra comfy. They remind me of my dad's recliner that my brother and I fight over at home. That's only when my dad isn't there because it's the best spot to watch TV. "Can I sit anywhere, or are there assigned seats?"
"Of course." He hands me a glass of champagne.
"Stop staring at her and let her sit," Logan barks from behind me. I almost spill my champagne.
"Sorry, sir." I rush to a seat, not wanting to get snipped at next. This Logan guy can't be all that bad if he's offering me a ride on his fancy plane, but then he also likes to issue orders. Such as demanding my ID, which I still need to get back.
Logan takes the seat directly across from me. The woman walks past me, giving me a wink before snagging her own seat a few rows back. I take a drink of the bubbly goodness. The few times I've had champagne I didn't care for it, but this is yummy. I set my drink down before going for my phone to text my brother Beau. I promised that I'd give him my flight information. But I'm unsure if this is what he had in mind.
Me: You're never going to believe this!
Beau:What did you step in?
I snort a laugh. I do often find ways to step right into trouble. I give him a small rundown of what happened. Not a second after I send the text my phone is ringing. I answer it. It doesn't go unnoticed that Logan is staring at me.
"Facetime." Beau's voice fills the inside of the plane. I pull the phone away from my ear to see my brother's face on the screen. "You got on a private plane with someone you don't know?" Beau is trying to talk calmly, but I see the anger all over his face.
"Ahhh." Yeah, when he says it that way it sounds bad. "Oops."
Logan snatches my phone right out of my hand. "I'm not a stranger, I'm her fiancé." I gasp. | LEARN_MORE | https://a.crazynovelapp.com/ad/TXlsaWIvMTY3Mjc0LzI | 149788454881544 | Cra0004 | https://facebook.com/61552123302606 | 45 | 1 | 476,509,204,812,763 | 2024-05-04 02:00 | person_profile | eligible | 0 | 0 | NONE | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | Learn more | 0 | Cra0004 | 120209905969510400 | a.crazynovelapp.com | NONE | video | https://a.crazynovelapp.com/ad/TXlsaWIvMTY3Mjc0LzIwMjQwNDI5MTQyMDU3L3BhZ2U=?adid={{ad.id}} | 2024-04-29 01:31 | https://scontent-lga3-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/439203687_1497879807815869_7767734272635393554_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_s60x60&_nc_cat=109&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=a2kJ4AVz91YQ7kNvgH3eu5G&_nc_ht=scontent-lga3-2.xx&oh=00_AfDZxeJMRj40_HEfYXzkTzoX4c54d4eUhK8-16E0dC8r0A&oe=663CA0B7 | person_profile | 0 | Cra0004 | https://scontent-lga3-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/439204970_759836069622573_1722957358097565693_n.jpg?_nc_cat=104&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=A8UqMnHSI-MQ7kNvgHwEl-2&_nc_ht=scontent-lga3-2.xx&oh=00_AfDeNRlHbypDFtZZVcE3E_ryx8AQw6Fa4M2TH5I9N2VVqQ&oe=663CBB55 | 0 | 3 | Cra0004 | 0 | 0 | 2024-05-04 02:00 | View Edit Delete | |||||||||||||||||||||

I asked wiping my crying eyes on the sleeve of my top.
"Lex, I love you but we've only ever been with each other, I'm 20 and been with one girl my whole life, I want to experience other things. I've been at the house and packed my things up. You remember Tommy? Yeah, well I'm living with him now." He scratched the base of his neck and I still couldn't believe it.
I was stunned.
------
"You want me to go throw a punch at him?" Jock smirked, but his brown eyes held an anger in them, he was like a over protective brother to me. A hot one.
I sighed, shaking my head as I reached over under the bench and grabbing a clear shot glass "He wants to sleep with other women. Can you believe that, Six years of my life wasted on that tosser all because he's now realised he wants to get his numbers up" I rolled my eyes as I started pouring a shot of spirits. The best thing about working here was the unlimited free booze we were offered each shift.
"He's loss someone else's gain. Your a catch Lex and I know a lot of guys who will be chasing after you" Jock grinned, taking the bottle off me and doing a shot in his mouth, swallowing and smirking "Go home and take the night off. Cry, scream, throw things, go and do whatever it is broken hearted chicks do and then come back once your feeling less angry."
"I don't need to take the night off, I will be fine working and I wont be throwing things or chucking a hissy fit like you just described, You need to get your facts about girls right, not all of them miss you when you leave them after a quickie" I laughed shaking my head at him, of course he would think he's broken many hearts. He probably has actually.
"Alexandra go home or I will take you out the back, bend you forward and do you over the cartons of spirits" He stepped closer wiggling his brows.
I lightly punched his chest laughing "Fine I will go home, but I will be back later tonight."
"Come back here and when I knock off then we'll really get wasted and party it up, We'll go bar hopping" He grinned pulling me into his muscled chest for a hug.
Jock was like a best friend of mine. He of course was Thirty so pretty older than what I was, but he didn't act his age. He acted more a Seventeen year old boy, and of course he had a different woman most nights, he called it living the good life.
I made my way home slwoly to where I shared a town house with my best friend forever Brooke, she was a fitness instructor and a major 'friends with benefits' type of girl. We had lived together for almost a year and it was seriously the best thing ever. We were best friends since little girls and had done everything together. We were inseparable. I knew she was going to be pissed with Cole big time, but at least all his things were gone. He had only moved in not even four months ago and now he was sick of me. Maybe I wasn't that fun to live with.
"Hey beauty, What's up?" She grinned as she lay stretched out over the couch with a blanket snaked around her small body, she was extremely thin and I hated how skinny she looked, I told her once that she needed to eat more and she laughed it off.
"Well stunner" I started "Cole dumped me because he to go sleep with other women and not be tied down to me boring me" I shrugged, trying so bad as I was holding back the tears but failed miserably, they slowly started to trickle out.
"Are you serious? That freaking hip face dumped you!" She jumped up off the couch, the blanket falling as she continued shouted profanities and looking ready to knock someone out.
"Yeah, so I don't know. I don't know what I did wrong but he moved out and gave the key back. I guess I need to just move on and forget about him" I walked into my bedroom slumping down on the top of my queen sized bed. I couldn't even think about being with someone else right now.
"Well only way way to get over a guy, and that's to get back underneath another" She grinned when I turned my head to look at her. Giving her a smirk of my own, of course she would say something like that, being the woman she is.
Brooke left the bedroom and I snuggled under the doona cover. I cried into the pillow for however long it was. Enough to stop the tears from coming out and soaking up the pillow.
I looked around the bedroom and he was telling the truth all his things had been moved, all his things were gone. The only thing left was a photo of the two of us. We were at school, it was our first photo as an official couple. I remember when he asked me out, he was nervous and so cute but I said yes since I liked him anyway, actually I had been crushing on him for weeks. He was the typical jock type. Playing football each weekend and then going to parties with friends. I would go with him and he wasn't a jerk who would ignore me, he instead would spend the entire time next to me, ignoring the bimbo's that tried to hit on him.
My parents loved him they never had any problems with us dating, or spending the night with each other. Well more so mum loved the fact that his parents were well off. She was all about finding a guy with money and I was the opposite. I wanted love not money.
She was going to be devastated when she found out about us splitting up.
I dried my eyes and realised I needed to get back to the bar and stop the pathetic sulking. Obviously he isn't upset about the break up so why should I be. I needed a change and only one person could help me with that. She was also now leaning against at my bedroom door.
"Brooke" I dragged out slowly as I batted my lashes a couple times.
"Yes" she mimicked me with a laugh.
"Dress me up! We're going out and drinking" I was going to unleash my inner bad girl.
She was up in my closet in a flash. Jumping up and down and basically in other words, she was going crazy. I mean Cole didn't like it when I showed off parts of my body. If we went out and I was in a revealing top he would always make me cover up with his jumper. He didn't even like that I had my stomach pierced. Told me I looked cheap and trashy.
Two whole hours later and I was staring at my reflection in the mirror. I was staring and in shock. She had managed to make me look like a Victoria's Secret Supermodel.
I didn't look like your typical duck face. I actually looked like me. My long blonde hair was all out and slightly curled at the ends. I had naturally waved hair that looked like someone had spent hours working on, beach hair as Brooke called it.
My hazel green eyes were standing out behind the thick lashes and black thick eye liner. My body was definitely on full show with a deep pink play suit. When I say body I mean my chest, which was braless. My long tanned legs were very visible since the shorts were quite shorter. Cole would flip out if he ever seen me in something like this and to top it off the underwear I was wearing was a tiny black lace thong.
Yes I am dressed up and actually feel hot. Something I haven't felt like for a very long time.
I slipped on some black heels that made me even taller than normal. I was actually tall, which I luckily inherited from my father. I inherited most of his traits from his hazel eyes to slightly tanner skin. I did get my blonde hair off mum though since dad has light brown and now greying.
"You ready to go babe?" Brooke called out walking back into my room. She was in a little skimpy red number and with her tanned skin and dark brown hair, she was looking hotter than ever.
"Yes, Let's go get drunk and party it up" I smiled. Grabbing my phone. My phone which had been bombarded with texts from Cole, saying he was sorry for hurting me. I ignored them. Actually I had gone to reply but Brooke slapped my hands away and said not to give in. She was right. I wasn't going to be the sad moping girlfriend who sits around heart broken while they guy who dumped her has the time of his life.
Tonight I was going to unleash the new me and party it up, I was going to be free of the sadness and do nothing but smile, laugh and drink. I was going to get completely drunk and hopefully forget how bad he actually hurt me.
I sure did party it up. For three weeks I have been drinking constantly. Getting so drunk most nights and of course flirting around with very cute guys. I never pecked or slept with anyone because I just wasn't ready for that.
No, I had still held that little bit of hope that Cole would change his mind. I was stupid.
Today though, I found out that Cole had slept with someone only mere hours after breaking things off with me. I really didn't think he could just toss me aside like that, hurting me the worst way possible. I thought he would have waited, or if he did do it then it wasn't going to be with the girl who spent most of our school year on her back and had her legs open for anyone. The girl who always hit on him at the parties and tried to split us up. That was just a hard kick in the face.
So tonight I was dancing, drinking and doing lots of flirting. I was single and now I was actually starting to love it.
I felt a set of arms sliding around my waist, pulling me back into a body that was moving behind mine. Turning around to see Jock right there with a wide spread grin across his face.
"You know how hot you look tonight?" He yelled out over the loud thumping music.
"Hotter than you?" I teased as I yelled back, wrapping my arms around his neck to pull him closer.
He laughed but I couldn't hear that. All I could just see his mouth moving as he started dancing with me again. I was drunk, so bloody drunk and I didn't care. I hadn't even told my parents I split with Cole. I knew there was going to be a lot of things going down when I did tell them. But tonight I just wanted to live and let loose again.
Without even thinking straight my hands reached up and gripped Jock's face as I crashed my lips over his. He responded immediately and I knew he would. That guy was always up for a good quick bang. Plus, I had caught him numerous times doing so, not fun to walk in on his undressed hip going at it behind a girl.
Did it bother me that I was hooking up with what Cole wanted to become? Nope.
Brooke told me to go out and have fun, to go be free and single and do what girls our age were doing. So I was trying to do that.
We kept pecking and dancing into each other. Our hands feeling each other up and I was well aware at how happy he was right now, I could feel it. I ran my hands through his gelled hair, tugging gently as he gripped my hip tighter as he pulled us even closer. Knowing exactly what I wanted right now.
"Your place?" I spoke in his ear just loud enough for him to hear and the others that were dancing around us not to.
He nodded and took my hand as we walked off the dance floor. His car was parked around the back and I knew I was in no state to even think about driving. Jock probably wasn't either but he made it back to his place in only a six minute drive. We were banging our way through his house, not literally banging but pretty close as our bodies pressed together. My legs wrapped around his waist while our tongues were tasting each other and hands rushing as we started peeling each others clothing off.
The next thing I knew I was being pushed onto his bed. Which I must admit was comfy, and his room was cleaner than I ever imagined as well.
"Tonight babe, your going to go to heaven and back" He grinned as his eyes skimmed down my undressed body.
"That what you tell all the ladies?" I smirked as I ran my fingers over the tattoos along his chest.
"Believe what you want, but your the only girl good enough to come back to my place" He lowered his body down and pecked me lightly. Pecking for a few minutes, moving down my chest and then wasted no time at all as he dived his mouth between my thighs. Showing me just how different an experienced man could be, he was amazing as I moaned and bucked my hips to his face and came shortly after.
The bright sun woke me up. The pounding headache was throbbing badly as I turned slowly, looking beside me to see that Jock was fast asleep.
My eyes widened as it all came crashing back to me. Oh god I slept with my boss. Of all the people in the bar it just had to be him. Not that I regretted it, because I definitely didn't regret it.
"Go back to sleep Lexi" he groaned into the pillows as he turned and looked at me "I'll sleep with you again if you keep watching me"
...
Brooke was in the bathroom after me as soon as I went to close the door. Her face was begging me for details. "Why is your hot boss bringing you home?" she whispered and then her eyes widened more "Why are you just getting home now?"
I smiled and lowered my voice, biting my lip slightly "I slept with him last night and have been with him since then"
"You screwed your boss. How was he?" She tried not to scream, I could tell that was extremely hard for her to do so. She had a very loud voice when she got over excited.
"Amazing" I answered quietly "He's definitely amazing and knows what he's doing"
"I cant believe you finally slept with someone else" She then jumped up and down. Screaming loudly as she ran back outside.
True to my word I was only five minutes and then I was back in the living room where Jock and Brooke were talking. She was asking if he enjoyed his night of Alex's treasure. Trust her to try get the gory details off him.
"Right. We need to leave so leave him alone Brooke, Let me poor man breathe" I spoke a little louder to announce my arrival in the room.
Jock stood up and looked at me mouthing Thank-You, I figured I was saving him from her intense third degree of questioning.
As we drove to work I guess I needed to get clear on something "So last night" I started.
"Just bed relationship" He stated keeping his eyes on the road.
Lucky I wasn't the clingy type, I couldn't jump into another relationship right now "Good. I'm glad its just bed relationship."
He was quiet for a little while until he was starting to drum his fingers over the steering wheel, looking a little nervous as he glanced over and spoke "I kind of have something to ask you. It's last minute but I need a favour"
"Of course" I answered him, "What do you need?"
"Will you come with me to my sisters wedding in Fiji next weekend? I really don't want to go stag and well, I know that if I take you then you wont get all clingy and stalkerish afterwards" He spoke, his voice actually sounding more nervous.
I wasn't expecting that at all. How did we go from just bed relationship to then being dates at a family wedding.
"Wedding is at Eleven tomorrow morning" He spoke as we made our way towards the bungalow over the water. It was breathtaking here. I definitely didn't expect to stay somewhere like this, I took Jock for more of a back packers place but this was nice. I think his sister is paying for it all anyway.
"Are you sure I'm ok to be here. Isn't this just family only?" I asked. I felt a little uncomfortable knowing I was meeting his whole family. Brooke was more than excited that I was staying with the hot bartender for a weekend. I was now high in her books as I screwed my boss after work.
"Your fine being here" He chuckled "We should get an early night though, it's going to be a long day tomorrow and it's late as it is." He then winked.
...
I felt myself blush as little as the guys all joined us. The groom went first and introduced himself "Bradley, great to meet a girl who can tie this man down"
I grinned. Getting a little embarrassed, "Sorry but were just friends and that's it"
"True. I'm her boss" Jock stated.
The next guy went and so forth until the last guy. The last man leant over, his smouldering deep blue eyes boring intensely into mine, his smile was charming and heck he was a mighty fine piece of hip. Tall, dark and handsome didn't even begin to describe him "Blake" His husky deep voice spoke as he grinned a perfect smile. His hand was so soft and yet still so firm. I literally found it hard to even remove my eyes from his. There was something about him. His voice was somehow familiar.
"So are you all set to marry Kelly?" Jock asked grinning.
"Sure am. She's called non stop, making sure I was still turning up and wasn't drunk somewhere" he chuckled.
The guys talked more. Well, actually they gave Bradley about getting married and loosing his freedom. Apparently his soon to be wife is a very big control freak who likes to know his every move, and Bradley has been a known player.
"So Alex. You must be more than a colleague to be here with Jock. What's the story between you two?" Joel smirked as he lent in closer.
I shrugged as Jock hand rubbed mine that was on my thigh, giving me a squeeze and then bringing his hand back up to the table. "We're just good friends" I answered. Nothing to lie about so I may as well be honest.
"Friends in bed maybe" he smirked back. I didn't give them the satisfaction of answering that comment. I looked back towards Blake and noticed he was already looking at me, the feeling I felt last night was back and I couldn't help wonder if he was that guy I was talking to. He would have said something if it was though. Right?
It must have been a little over three hours later and I sat beside Jock. Wearing a blue off the shoulder dress that came just above my knees. Watching as his sister and her almost husband say their vows. The ceremony was beautiful. She looked so pretty and everything was perfect, a little over the top expensive but it was still nice. I kind of wondered what my own wedding would have been like if I married Cole. I tried not to think about it, but it was hard not too. The thing that helped take my mind off it was the tall dark haired man standing in navy suit. His eyes were on me, a chill running up my spine as I looked at him. I noticed his lips grow into a slight smirk and he then looked back towards the couple getting married. I really hope Jock didn't just notice that.
The reception was in full swing. Speech's had been done and Jock had gone to get me a jacket since the weather had gotten a little chilly and being an outside restaurant wasn't doing me any favours. Thirty minutes of sitting alone I was getting sightly annoyed. It was only a five minute walk back to the room so I had no idea where he was. I decided to wait another five minutes up at the bar and had another fruit tingle.
I headed back out to the pathway, slightly tipsy and stumbling a little bit towards our bungalow. There was people talking from the wedding along the path. I could still hear the music playing as I got further and further away, until there was nothing but the ocean crashing into the sand along the beach.
The light was on in the room and door unlocked when I went to open the door so I knew Jock was in here. When I pushed the open the door more I realised why he was so late. I definitely didn't think he would be shagging someone in the bed we had only just slept in that morning.
"God" He cursed as I stood frozen on the spot. What felt like ages I finally snapped out of it and turned around. Slamming the door a little too loud just to let him know I was definitely annoyed at him being in there with her. They could have gone elsewhere.
I had no idea where I was going to go, but I wasn't staying in that room tonight. I had my head down as I walked back down the path from our room. Covering my arms from the cool breeze when I crashed into a hard body. Looking up at the person I had knocked into as I went to apologise until he spoke first.
"Lex" It was him. He's the man from the middle of the night.
My heart started beating erratically as I whispered back. "Blake." | LEARN_MORE | https://b.ficsworld.com/ad/Ym9va3ZpbGxlLzE2NjQ0NC8 | 138246439369509 | World001 | https://facebook.com/61551599025828 | 129 | 1 | 1,989,631,491,439,259 | 2024-05-04 02:00 | person_profile | eligible | 0 | 0 | NONE | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | Learn more | 0 | World001 | 120208934678530367 | b.ficsworld.com | NONE | video | https://b.ficsworld.com/ad/Ym9va3ZpbGxlLzE2NjQ0NC8yMDI0MDQyOTEwMzcwMi9wYWdl?adid={{ad.id}} | 2024-04-28 21:46 | https://scontent-lga3-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/440973297_766943095529631_4843779963953813832_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_s60x60&_nc_cat=105&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=I5-Jw_AIUeAQ7kNvgGJBjcP&_nc_ht=scontent-lga3-2.xx&oh=00_AfBw56ePPgoNWK0NxMmU2Ks2g5AwkNNAFXa4Aq-f-8-mYw&oe=663C8AB7 | person_profile | 0 | World001 | https://scontent-lga3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/440946129_837902964844044_6296401988715336586_n.jpg?_nc_cat=102&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=t5h_yKtuYksQ7kNvgFDLc-i&_nc_ht=scontent-lga3-1.xx&oh=00_AfAEZqXXqQp5T_4rJwGeJS3_wFincpwyCH_nwyVyiOTC8Q&oe=663CAFF8 | 0 | 3 | World001 | 0 | 0 | 2024-05-04 02:00 | View Edit Delete | |||||||||||||||||||||

Theodore had been in a horrific car accident three months prior and was now comatose, unlikely to ever recover. His life hung by a thread, and it was uncertain how long he would last.

The Anderson family, known for their fixation on succession and legacy, was desperate to ensure Theodore's bloodline would continue. So his father, Darian Anderson, took it upon himself to get his son a wife. The sperm that Theodore froze years ago was going to be inseminated into the bride's womb before he died.

As Ariana looked down at the consent form in front of her, her complexion was ashen, and her eyes betrayed a subtle sense of panic.

"Please, can you give me some space to collect my thoughts? I need to read through it carefully," she said to the lawyer, her voice trembling with emotion.

After a few seconds of silence, the lawyer nodded and left the room.

The lawyer's departure left the room in an eerie silence. Ariana immediately placed the consent form on the table. She had to call Jasper Anderson, her secret boyfriend, for help.

As fate would have it, Jasper, Theodore's half-brother, was the mastermind behind this wedding.

Ariana's life had been turned upside down by the recent passing of her father, and the ruthlessness of her stepmother, Glenda Edwards. Ariana was left with nothing, not even her deceased mother's belongings which were also taken away.

Just when Ariana felt cornered, Jasper came to her with a proposition: she would pretend to marry Theodore, and they would find a way to sabotage the surgery. After Theodore's death, Jasper would become the sole heir of the Anderson family, and in return, he promised to marry Ariana and help her reclaim her mother's belongings.

Ariana, under Jasper's spell, initially agreed to the plan. However, as the wedding drew closer, she realized that she couldn't go through with it.

Desperately seeking Jasper's comfort and counsel, Ariana tried calling him, but to no avail.

In a state of anxiety, she sneaked out to look for him. She took off her high heels, held them in her hands, and walked down the corridor, her heart racing with fear and anticipation.

Ariana's footsteps came to a sudden halt as she approached the last lounge at the end of the corridor.

A faint noise could be heard coming from the slightly open door. It was the sound of a familiar giggle.

Through the crack, she heard a familiar voice. "Stay with me for a little longer, Jasper. Ariana doesn't have time to look for you now."

Her heart sank, and she inched closer to the door, peering inside through the small opening. She saw Brielle Edwards, her half-sister, and Jasper on the sofa.

Jasper spoke impatiently as he pushed Brielle away to get up. "I need to keep an eye on her. I'm afraid she will have cold feet about the wedding."

But Brielle, carelessly dismissing the concern, got close to him and said, "Oh, stop worrying so much. She always listens to you. Besides, we have her mother's belongings with us. She wouldn't dare to run away."

Jasper seemed relieved. "You're right. Thank you, baby. I will get rid of her when I finish the plan. I only want you..."

Ariana watched in horror as they talked about their scheme against her.

The reality of the situation hit her hard, and she was left reeling, struggling to maintain her balance as she stumbled backward.

The betrayal was too much for Ariana to bear. Her heart shattered into a million pieces as tears streamed down her cheeks.

Fury surged through her veins, and she balled her fists so tightly that her nails dug into her palms. She listened to them with a mix of disgust and rage.

But Ariana was not defeated. She had to take action. She would not let Jasper and Brielle get away with their treachery.

With newfound determination, she wiped away her tears, slipped on her high heels, and strode back to the room. Without a moment's hesitation, she signed the consent form, determined to become the true daughter-in-law of the Anderson family.

And she would make sure that Jasper and Brielle would pay for their betrayal, no matter what it took.

* At night, the Anderson family's residence was illuminated by bright lights, casting a glow over the extravagant surroundings.

Ariana was escorted to Theodore's room by the housekeeper, just after the wedding.

This was the first time she was meeting her so-called husband.

According to Jasper, Theodore was a man with a terrible temper, a bad character, and a cruel personality. He was even cold to his own family. Jasper used every insulting word to describe Theodore, even "ugly."

Ariana had believed Jasper's words and was mentally prepared to face a husband who was anything but handsome. However, when she saw Theodore for the first time, even though he was ill, she couldn't help but notice his inherent nobility and incredibly handsome appearance.

Ariana stood motionless beside the bed, admiring Theodore's stunning features, and began to doubt everything Jasper had told her.

At that moment, Jasper pushed the door open and swaggered into the room, speaking loudly and with no regard for Theodore's condition.

"I'm sorry, Aria. I was too preoccupied today, and I regret not answering your call," Jasper uttered, feigning remorse.

Ariana had to play along with Jasper's scheme for the time being, so she replied, "It's alright. Don't worry about it."

Jasper's smug grin widened. "I knew you would forgive me; you love me too much," he said confidently.

Ariana clenched her fists, containing her fury. "It's late now. We can talk about whatever you wanted to discuss tomorrow."

Jasper locked the door, plunging the room into darkness, and slowly approached her.

Ariana retreated nervously, questioning him, "Jasper, what do you want from me?"

With a wicked smirk, Jasper pounced on her, saying, "We shouldn't waste time. If you carry my child, our child will become an Anderson heir."

Jasper didn't take Theodore seriously. How dare he want to do that right in front of his brother!

Ariana fought back, shouting, "Let me go!"

Jasper abruptly halted, and Ariana gazed up at him, dazed. She saw his expression shift to one of pure terror, as if he had seen a ghost behind her.

In a trembling voice, Jasper muttered, "Theodore..."

#Chapter2 Artificial Insemination Operation

Jasper immediately took to his heels.

Ariana was confused. What was wrong with him? Did Theodore wake up?

She quickly turned around, but she didn't notice anything odd. Theodore was still lying on the bed, and his breath was as steady and quiet as before.

The only difference was that one of his hands was out of the quilt.

Ariana tilted her head and studied the hand for a while. It looked limp, so she felt that it probably fell out when she bumped into the bedframe while trying to dodge Jasper.

"Theodore?" Ariana called tentatively.

There was no response.

She leaned forward and called out more firmly, "Hey, Theodore!"

Still, she got no response.

Ariana swallowed hard and slowly walked to the bedside. She carefully took hold of his hand and put it back under the quilt. Theodore still didn't move a muscle during the process. This eased her mind greatly. It turned out he was still in a deep coma.

Perhaps Jasper had hallucinated.

Ariana breathed a sigh of relief.

The room returned to its usual quietness again. Ariana's heart was still beating fast. For some unknown reason, she feared that Theodore would suddenly open his eyes. She sat on the edge of the bed and stared at him closely. A while later, she dozed off due to tiredness.

The next day, Ariana woke up to find herself lying on the edge of the bed. She quickly turned her head to look at Theodore. To her relief, he didn't seem to have moved an inch the whole night. Ariana felt the weight of uncertainty drop off her shoulders now.

She finally ruled out the possibility that Jasper had really seen Theodore move last night.

Ariana went to the bathroom to wash up. While she was brushing her teeth, her eyes fell on a red mark on her neck. It wasn't there before. It looked like someone had pinched her there recently.

When Ariana remembered the struggle with Jasper last night, she reasoned that the red mark was his doing.

Disgust surged inside her at the thought of that betrayer.

Ariana set down her toothbrush and went back into the bedroom. She put on a turtleneck top to cover the mark.

When she was all dressed up, she went downstairs.

She had just gotten to the bottom stair when Jasper appeared out of nowhere and pulled her into a cubicle nearby.

"Did Theodore wake up last night?" he whispered into her ear, fearing that someone would hear them.

Ariana felt sick to her stomach at the sight of Jasper. She took two steps back and replied expressionlessly, "No, he didn't."

"That's good to know. My eyes tricked me last night. For a second, I thought Theodore opened his eyes and stared daggers at me. Thank goodness it was just an illusion." Jasper took a deep breath, feeling relieved. He flashed his usual sunny smile.

This smile used to send excitement through Ariana's body in the past. But now, she hated it. She lowered her eyes so he wouldn't see the resentment in her eyes.

Oblivious to the real reason, Jasper felt that she was unhappy because of what happened last night. He apologized softly. "I'm sorry about what happened, Aria. I didn't mean to be rough with you."

Ariana forced a smile. "Okay, it's fine."

She then made up an excuse so she could leave the cubicle immediately.

When she got to the dining room, she saw that Darian was already seated at the table. He was a serious man who rarely smiled. After Ariana greeted him, he only nodded slightly. He exuded a cold and uncaring aura.

On the other hand, Sharon, Theodore's stepmother, was enthusiastic. She was Jasper's biological mother, so she probably knew about his plan. It was the only logical explanation for her excessive warmth and friendliness.

Ariana felt uncomfortable throughout breakfast.

Once they were done eating, Darian took her to the private hospital owned by the Anderson family.

Jasper came along. When Ariana was being ushered into the operating room, he gave her a knowing look.

Ariana took the hint.

She smiled to assure him that she hadn't forgotten the plan. But the moment she turned around, her smile vanished. She walked into the operating room with a cold face.

Fear slowly crept into her heart at this time. But when she remembered how Jasper had betrayed her, she gritted her teeth and balled her fists. She was hell-bent on getting revenge and taking back what rightfully belonged to her.

The insemination took about an hour. Ariana, whose face was pale, was wheeled out in a wheelchair. The doctor took off his mask and said to Darian, "Everything went well, Mr. Anderson. Now, we have to wait for about a month to confirm if it is successful."

Jasper's face darkened as soon as he heard this.

In contrast, Darian's usually cold face lit up with a smile. Even a blind man could see that he was pleased with the news. He looked at Ariana with an expression of satisfaction. Afterward, he ordered one of his drivers to drive her and Jasper back home.

On the way, Jasper's face was red with anger. Several green veins became visible on his forehead and temples, but he didn't utter a word.

Ariana didn't bother speaking to him. She looked out of the window, lost in thought.

Once they got out of the car, Jasper flipped out. He grabbed her arm and pulled her to the garden to give her a piece of his mind.

"Ariana! I thought we agreed that you would ruin the operation. Why didn't you do so?" Jasper growled.

As far as Ariana was concerned, she didn't owe this backstabber an explanation. He disgusted her. She shook off his hand and said coldly, "Mind the way you speak to me, Jasper. I'm your sister-in-law now!"

Jasper held his head and let out an angry laugh. He kicked the tree nearby. "What did you just say? Are you kidding me?"

Ariana's heart skipped a beat when she saw his bloodshot eyes. She spun on her heels, but Jasper pulled her back.

"Did I tell you to leave? Don't even dare walk out on me, Ariana! I'm not done speaking to you!" Sparks of fury burned in Jasper's eyes.

Ariana was both scared and annoyed. She tried to break free while glaring at him. "Let go of me!"

Jasper grabbed her with both hands and leaned over. "This wasn't what we agreed on. Are you trying to pull a fast one on me now that you are married to Theodore? Just so you know, you can't get rid of me. There's no telling that you would get pregnant. Even if you do, Theodore won't be able to protect you and your baby."

"Bah! How are you so sure about that? Theodore is still alive, isn't he?" Ariana sneered. "No matter what happens, I'm still your sister-in-law. You better come to terms with it now!"

This comment drove Jasper nuts. He raised his hand to slap her.

But before that could happen, a servant rushed out of the house and shouted, "Ma'am! Mr. Theodore Anderson just woke up. He wants to see you!"

#Chapter3 He Woke Up

Ariana and Jasper were both taken aback by the sudden revelation that Theodore had awakened from his coma.

Jasper's face contorted with anger as he tightened his grip on Ariana's arm, accusing her of deception. "You lied to me? What I saw last night wasn't an illusion. You knew Theodore woke up, didn't you? That's why you've been acting so strange today!"

Ariana refused to explain, her expression turning into a sneer as she shrugged off Jasper's grasp, leaving him behind as she followed the servant's lead.

Jasper seethed with anger, his fists clenching as he watched her retreating form. He kicked a nearby flowerpot in frustration, the sound of shattering pottery echoing through the garden.

The sprawling Andersons' estate was a maze of hallways and rooms, adorned with vibrant flowers in every shade. Ariana made her way down the endless corridor, lost in her thoughts and worries. She finally reached the small villa where Theodore was recuperating, nestled behind the lush garden.

The peaceful surroundings were bathed in warm sunlight, a sharp contrast to the chaos in Ariana's mind.

She couldn't shake the worries that clouded her thoughts, unsure if Theodore had awoken during the night or overheard her conversation with Jasper.

Ariana's heart raced as she contemplated what would happen if Theodore had heard the conversation between her and Jasper.

Her face was drained of color, her eyes filled with fear.

Her husband was known to be cruel and merciless, with power and connections that reached far and wide, even among the police and gangs. Those who dared to cross him often met with a grisly fate.

"Ma'am, here we are." Ariana was jolted back to reality by the servant's voice.

She breathed deeply, steeled herself, and took a slow step inside. Coincidentally, Darian dashed toward her, both of them exchanging brief greetings.

And in silence, they walked through the villa's entrance.

A group of doctors encircled Theodore on the huge bed as they approached.

After the examination, the attending doctor sighed and said, "Although Mr. Theodore Anderson has regained consciousness, the accident has taken a toll on his body, particularly his legs. They are too damaged, and he will never be able to walk normally again. Physiotherapy will take a long time."

Darian's disbelief was palpable. "You mean he's... he's disabled?"

Ariana frowned, and to her surprise, she glimpsed relief in Darian's expression.

"I'm afraid so," the doctor admitted with deep regret.

"I see. You can leave now." With a flick of his wrist, Darian dismissed the doctors and turned his attention to Theodore, wearing an unusually soft smile. "Rest well, Theodore. You shouldn't worry about anything else. I'll find the best doctor to treat your legs."

Then, Darian turned to Ariana and said, "You may have to take care of Theodore from now on."

Ariana almost wanted to roll her eyes at Darian. She couldn't help but think that he was making her his son's caregiver.

Theodore sat propped up against the headboard, his eyes filled with an icy indifference that sent shivers down anyone's spine. He seemed aloof and detached from everything around him, his face shrouded with an icy chill.

Finally, he looked up and locked his gaze with Darian's, asking in a frigid tone, "Who is she?"

Ariana was taken aback by Theodore's short question, unsure how to respond to him. Her heart raced, and her mind raced faster.

She didn't even know how to introduce herself to him.

The thought of Theodore being able to leave this arranged marriage at any moment caused Ariana to shiver.

She had to see her plan through; otherwise, it would all be for nothing.

"She is your wife, Ariana Edwards," Darian said.

Theodore's expression turned colder. "I don't remember having a wife. Where did you find this liar?" he said, disdain dripping from his words.

"I arranged her for you," Darian replied in a tone that was uncharacteristically sharp. "Everyone knows it."

But Theodore wasn't going to let it go so easily. "Then I'll divorce her!" he spat. "Not just anyone can be my wife. If you want someone to take care of me, you'd better hire a caregiver directly."

The words hung in the air, freezing the already tense atmosphere. Darian's face twitched with anger, but he restrained himself. "Divorce is impossible," he said through gritted teeth.

Theodore sneered at Darian. "What right do you have to make decisions for me?"

The tension was palpable in the room as Ariana stood. She felt like a mere onlooker to the father and son's tumultuous relationship.

Darian's voice quivered with fury as he growled, "It was already decided. Ariana just underwent the artificial insemination surgery, and there's a chance she's carrying your child."

Theodore's eyes snapped to Ariana, scanning her form as if she was a mere object.

It felt like an eternity before he chuckled and asked Ariana, "So, should I arrange a doctor for you to get rid of the baby?"

#Chapter4 He Knew It

Ariana was in shock after hearing what Theodore had said. She stood there, paralyzed and speechless.

Darian was seething with anger and lashed out, "What are you saying? This child is of the Anderson family's lineage!"

To this, Theodore replied with icy detachment, "The Anderson family has many descendants. This one can be abandoned. And if you don't want to abandon it, I have ways to make it disappear."

Every word was like a crushing blow to Ariana's heart, leaving her unsettled and anxious.

Darian was beyond furious and he pointed a trembling finger at Theodore. "How dare you speak to me in that manner? You are an ingrate! Do you not consider me your father?"

Theodore let out a cold sneer. "Father? You are not worthy of being called that, Darian."

The atmosphere was tense, as Darian's hand came down hard on the lamp, sending it crashing to the floor.

Ariana took a step back, wary of the explosive emotions of the father and son.

Despite Darian's rage, Theodore remained unperturbed. He appeared to be accustomed to the violent outbursts of his father, casually picking up a glass of water and taking a leisurely sip, unfazed by the intense situation.

Darian took a deep breath, his body radiating anger as he realized there was no use in continuing the conversation. "It's too soon to be discussing a divorce," he said, his words dripping with authority. "Ariana just underwent the artificial insemination surgery. We would only find out if it was successful in a month. If you are still adamant about getting a divorce, then we can discuss it."

He emphasized the last sentence and leveled a sharp look at Theodore, daring him to object.

Theodore, however, sneered and remained silent. Even weakened by his illness, he exuded an aura of power that belied his physical state.

"Think about it," Darian spat out, the frustration clear in his voice, before turning and storming off in a huff.

Ariana stood there, unsure of what to do to break the tension between her and Theodore.

They were married now, and Ariana might have been carrying his child. It would be easier for everyone if they could get along civilly in their future life together.

But then, she thought about how much he must be suffering from his disability and his short temper.

After careful consideration, Ariana decided to take the first step to mend their relationship. If she could show him kindness and care, perhaps she could use his affection for her to advance her own plans for revenge.

Tentatively, Ariana stepped closer to Theodore's bedside and looked upon his handsome face with nervousness.

She hesitated for a moment, steeling herself to start a conversation. His gaze was cold and unyielding, but she had to try. "Mr. Anderson, my name is Ariana, and I'm your wife..."

Her voice trailed off as his icy stare bore into her. She knew she was telling the truth, but he didn't seem to want to accept it.

Suddenly, Theodore's hand shot out and seized hers in a tight grip. Ariana gasped in surprise and stumbled, falling into his arms.

His body was warm and his scent was intoxicating, overwhelming her senses.

As she struggled to right herself, Theodore put his other hand on her nape and pressed her head closer.

Fear welled up inside her as Ariana realized just how dangerous this man could be.

"You don't have what it takes to be my wife. This position demands someone who isn't a coward, someone who isn't afraid of me. Do you have a guilty conscience? Is that why you're so nervous around me?" Theodore's breath was hot on Ariana's neck as he leaned in to whisper these cutting words, causing her to shiver in fear.

He gazed down at Ariana as his slender fingers slid beneath the collar of her turtleneck blouse and then touched her neck with the tenderness of a doting lover.

His gesture sent shivers down her spine and she felt her heart race.

Ariana's voice quavered with trepidation as she stuttered, "I... I don't."

Theodore sneered with a malevolent glint in his eyes, relishing the fear he had induced in her.

Ariana could feel his heartbeat, each thump ringing in her ears like a death knell.

What did he mean by this?

Theodore's voice was low and menacing. "Did you enjoy your time with Jasper in front of me?"

Panic settled in as Ariana realized that Theodore was awake the entire time on their wedding night. He had seen Jasper sneaking into their room.

#Chapter5 Terrifying Husband

Theodore's eyes bored into her, and for a moment, he seemed to take pleasure in her panic. But when his gaze fell on her belly, his expression twisted into one of pure malice. A cold, cruel glint flickered in his eyes, sending shivers down Ariana's spine.

"You'd better hope that you're not pregnant," he hissed, his voice laced with venom. "Because if you are, I'll make sure it never sees the light of day."

Her heart sank as she heard the threat in his words. Theodore was every bit as ruthless as Jasper had warned her. Maybe even worse.

In a desperate bid to save her own life, Ariana lowered her head, her voice trembling with fear as she tried to explain herself. "Theodore, please listen to me. I broke up with Jasper, and I never..."

"Get out!" Theodore's patience ran out, and his face twisted into an icy mask. "I never want to see your face again."

Ariana realized that convincing Theodore was impossible, no matter how much she tried. She hastened to make her escape, but on her way out, she collided with a sophisticated gentleman in a sleek suit.

Trembling, she apologized quickly and bolted out of Theodore's room, not daring to look back.

Once Horace Silence strode into the room, he immediately observed Theodore's intense gaze fixed on the spot where Ariana had vanished. It was as if he was lost in deep contemplation, mulling over something of great importance.

After a moment's reflection, Horace placed a test report on the nearby bedside table.

"According to the doctor, your body is healthy, and after some remedial exercises of your legs, you can fully recover. He will continue to cooperate with your orders and pretend that your legs are disabled. Everyone in the Anderson family believes it," Horace reported to his boss.

Theodore smiled, the satisfaction clear in his eyes. "Let's keep them in the dark for a little longer. I want them to think they are invincible before I destroy them."

Horace then took out another document.

"Boss, this contains information about your new wife, Ariana Edwards," he said, fulfilling his duty as a senior assistant.

Horace moved to place the document on the bedside table, but Theodore snatched it from him.

Horace was a bit surprised. Then he spoke with a touch of hesitancy. "You may be surprised to hear this, boss, but Ms. Edwards lived a miserable life. Her life has been marked by a series of unfortunate events that have left her with little recourse. She lost her mother at the tender age of 13, and shortly thereafter, her father remarried a woman who brought with her a girl. The girl is Ms. Edwards' younger half-sister. The existence of Ms. Edwards' stepmother and half-sister was clear proof that her father had been cheating on her mother for ages.

Fueled by anger, Ms. Edwards left for studies abroad as soon as she became an adult, hoping to escape the pain of her past. However, she didn't get to see her father again before his death. Yet even with her father's passing, she was unable to find closure, as her stepmother seized control of the family's assets and cast her out onto the streets. Given her circumstances, it's possible she felt she had no choice but to marry you..."

Theodore's eyes narrowed as he perused the report, a slight frown marring his features. "Horace, I can read. I don't need you to interpret," he said in a clipped tone.

Horace nodded subserviently, but it wasn't long before he could no longer hold his tongue.

"I just feel that Ms. Edwards' past is a little similar to yours. She also has a stepmother, and was—"

Theodore's face contorted into a cruel smile as he cut him off. "Do I have to remind you of your surname?" he hissed.

Horace gulped audibly and took a step back. His boss's threat was clear. He knew better than to push the issue any further.

Theodore let out a disdainful snort as he recalled the fear that had been etched on Ariana's face. The memory only served to deepen his frown.

*

Meanwhile, Ariana scurried out of Theodore's room and headed to find the housekeeper, Judy Kelly.

The warm-hearted, slightly plump middle-aged woman took Ariana's hands in hers as she persuaded, "Mr. Anderson has just woken up and he may need some time to adjust. Love requires patience and understanding. Please, my dear, be obedient and tolerant toward him. Things might turn around for the better soon."

Ariana bit her tongue, holding back the retort that she wouldn't please that tyrant even if she was out of her mind.

After Judy arranged a guest room for her, Ariana collapsed onto the bed, exhausted from the day's events. She fell asleep in no time.

The next morning, Ariana jolted awake to the blaring sound of her phone alarm. As she blinked away the sleep from her eyes, she gazed up at the unfamiliar ceiling, her heart heavy with confusion and worry. Her mind swirled with thoughts of her future and how uncertain it had become.

Ariana had foolishly believed that her husband's death was imminent and that she could secure her place as an Anderson family daughter-in-law.

But the reality was far from what she had hoped. Not only had Theodore survived, but he also seemed intent on banishing her from the family altogether.

Ariana groggily reached over and fumbled with her phone until she found the alarm. As she silenced the ringing, a piece of news caught her bleary eyes. "Hundreds of high-price items are on sale at the auction in Ivebridge..."

The headline grabbed her attention, and she leaned closer to read more. Her eyes widened in shock as she saw the first item on the auction block was a necklace that belonged to her late mother.
&2& | LEARN_MORE | https://fbweb.moboreader.net/38520322-fb_contact-h | 102729319508493 | Auroch novel | https://facebook.com/100092728788928 | 15,573 | 3 | 1,335,288,237,142,969 | 2024-05-04 02:00 | person_profile | eligible | 0 | 0 | NONE | 0 | 1 | 0 | 0 | Learn more | 0 | Auroch novel | 120208916698520245 | fbweb.moboreader.net | NONE | video | https://fbweb.moboreader.net/38520322-fb_contact-hys-0320-core1.html?adid={{ad.id}}&char=066827&accid=263741546706881 | 2024-04-30 04:46 | https://scontent-lga3-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/440058934_1392874325439404_5835621836916371231_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_s60x60&_nc_cat=107&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=eVX9daaECN0Q7kNvgGaKqnh&_nc_ht=scontent-lga3-2.xx&oh=00_AfDGCp4Mlo5NZUk0tV540dMiBD1TThtOhjjTHqNGe0FBng&oe=663CBCCE | person_profile | 0 | Auroch novel | https://scontent-lga3-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/440106488_8092864290732145_3649826753734183628_n.jpg?_nc_cat=100&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=2mfqa7p6vD8Q7kNvgEDn_P8&_nc_ht=scontent-lga3-2.xx&oh=00_AfAqgyiDpbipB2WpJD7PDlCVzu4YLxbnIRZJpO_V_HMoqw&oe=663CA7AC | 0 | 3 | Auroch novel | 0 | 0 | 2024-05-04 02:00 | View Edit Delete |
