The stranger turned out to be Jesus, who reassured them that God’s new creation had in fact begun. We sometimes think that God is distant, far away, “up there” but what if God is all around us, including in people who appear very ordinary?

To begin receiving a weekly email with information about events and news from the church, please sign up here: tiny.cc/uccemail

To share a gift with the church, please visit: bit.ly/SloUccGiving | 108452077457 | United Church of Christ (Congregational) of San Luis Obispo | https://facebook.com/uccslo | 766 | 1 | 438,760,578,874,202 | 2024-04-14 02:00 | person_profile | eligible | 0 | 0 | NONE | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 0 | United Church of Christ (Congregational) of San Luis Obispo | 6548099690787 | NONE | video | 2024-04-14 16:00 | https://scontent-lga3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/437570478_1151713959378252_6420452941782389802_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_s60x60&_nc_cat=111&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=tO_5CdFlGY0Ab708D8A&_nc_ht=scontent-lga3-1.xx&oh=00_AfCIRcZQOrrCJ1NCklyLhAj5tH9v9a91xLfvz8X_G5u6KQ&oe=66222AEC | person_profile | 0 | 0 | 3 | United Church of Christ (Congregational) of San Luis Obispo | 0 | 0 | 2024-04-14 02:00 | View Edit Delete

I will always love you, but I have to say goodbye for now.'
He's gone.
I didn't even get to tell him I was pregnant.
Four years later...
"Josh is the last groomsmen?!"
I was in my best friend Elena's meeting with her wedding planner.
She looked over at me with a worried look.
God, what would happen when he saw the girls or when I finally saw him?
What if I blurt out that he's a father?
————————
Sabrina POV
I'm pregnant.
I can't believe this. Josh and I are going to have a baby.
We haven't even started college yet.
What if he leaves?
I was completely lost in thought as I walked through the front door of my house. Jordyn, my little sister, was sitting on the couch cuddled up in a blanket watching a re-run of Friends.
"Have you seen Mom or Dad?" I asked wanting to tell them about the baby first.
"Mom just went out to get some groceries, and Dad is still at work," Jojo responded looking up at me with her brown eyes while her light brown hair was thrown into a messy bun on top of her head. I guess telling them can wait.
"Okay, I'm going to grab something from my room, and then go over to Josh's."
I need to tell him.
"Oh yeah," Jojo began. "He came by earlier, but you weren't here so he left you a note. It's on the kitchen counter."
I gave her a confused expression before heading toward the kitchen. There was a piece of paper laying on top of the counter. When I picked it up, I noticed his rushed handwriting.
Sabrina,
I know we planned to spend college together here in San Diego, but I can't pass up this opportunity. I have to take the scholarship in Florida, and I hope you understand. I will always love you, but I have to say goodbye for now.
I love you,
Josh
I let the paper slip from hands as my legs gave out. I fell to the floor with a thud loud enough to alert Jojo who came into the kitchen.
Florida? He never even told me about a scholarship.
I continued to stare off into space trying to wrap my brain around what just happened. When Jojo got no response from me, she picked up the paper and read it herself. As she wrapped her arms around me in a reassuring hug, a tear fell down my cheek, and then a sob escape my lips.
He's gone.
He's gone, and left me with our baby growing in my stomach.
He left me.
....
It has officially been four years since Josh left me and all his friends and family here in San Diego. A lot has changed. My beautiful daughters, Brynlee Reese and Keegan Ryder, are now three years old.
My dad died from brain cancer last year after battling long enough to see his granddaughters turn two. He loved them more than anything. It's been hard for us, especially my mom, but we're getting by.
I graduated from the University of San Diego last year with a teaching degree in English, and am going on my second year of teaching at my old high school, Fremont High School. Jordyn, my 17 year old sister, is a junior there.
Ever since my pregnancy, I've had help from my family, Josh's family, and our friends. I couldn't really hide Josh's daughters from his parents since the girls are their granddaughters, and they promised not to tell him.
Let's just say that they weren't too pleased with how Josh left. I've tried to tell Josh about Brynlee and Keegan, but he doesn't answer any of my calls or I chickened out.
Cory and Tyler have offered to tell him since he actually keeps in contact with them, along with his family, but I want him to hear it from me.
Now, I think it's a little too late to tell him especially since he's happy on his own. He's off playing professional baseball for the New York Yankees while dating multiple girls, according to the gossip sites.
Josh's sister, Delaney, got married last year at a destination wedding that only included close family members. I was invited since the girls are her nieces, but I declined the invitation knowing I would have to see him. She is now a pediatrician while her husband, Landon Gray, took over his father's oil company.
My best friend, Elena Pratt, just graduated from nursing school and started her new job at the local hospital. She is also currently engaged to Tyler Stephens, Josh and I's best friend. They've been dating since our junior year of high school. Tyler works alongside Landon as the financial manager.
Cory Sutton, Josh and I's other best friend, is now a gym teacher and baseball coach at Fremont High School. He was suppose to become a professional baseball player like Josh, but he suffered a serious shoulder injury which ended his playing days. Teaching was always his backup.
The continuous jumping on my bed followed by loud giggles disturbed my sleep. My eyes fluttered open to see two toddlers wide awake.
"Mommy!" Keegan screamed as she jumped onto me with the intention of a hug. Her knotted brown hair fell to the sides of her face as her big brown eyes gleamed with excitement. Brynlee continued jumping as her blonde hair bounced with her.
"Good morning to you girlies too," I responded hugging Keegan as Brynlee cuddled to my side. "What do you girls want for breakfast?"
"WAFFLES!" They both squealed jumping from the bed as they ran out of my bedroom. I then got up from the comfort of my bed sheets and put my fuzzy gray robe on over my pajamas that consisted of shorts and an old t-shirt. When I reached the kitchen, the girls were there digging the Eggo waffles out of the freezer.
"Can you put the box on the counter for me?" I asked as I pulled out the toaster from one of the many cabinets. Keegan did as I told her and then ran to the living room with Brynlee following behind. She then turned on the TV to their favorite show, Doc McStuffins. I put three waffles into the toaster and waited for them to pop back out when they were done.
Looking over at the girls brought back memories. I was absolutely shocked when I found out I was having twins.
I laid down waiting for the doctor to enter while my mom sat in the nearby chair. I anxiously played with my long painted nails looking down at my small bump. Soon enough the doctor came into the room.
"Hello, I'm Dr. Valente. You must be Sabrina and her mom," she greeted shaking my mom's hand then moving over to me. "Are we ready to see the little one?"
I nodded my head as she instructed what to do before putting the gel on my stomach. She had the screen pointed towards her allowing me to only see the shocked expression on her face.
"What's wrong?" I asked suddenly worried.
"Nothing's wrong, but it looks like you're having twins." The minute the words came out of her mouth, my jaw dropped to the floor.
I'm having two babies.
The sudden sound of waffles popping out of the toaster brought me back to reality. I began to fix me and the girls a plate before calling them over to the dining table. As they scooped pieces of the waffle into their mouth, I got a text from Elena.
Are you on your way??
Yes but we might be a little late.
I completely lost track of time and now we're going to be late for Elena's meeting with her wedding planner. Since I'm the maid of honor, she wants me there too.
It's currently 10:25, and we have to be at her house at 10:30 which is a 7 minute drive. Great.
"Girls, go brush your teeth and then come to your bedroom," I instructed grabbing the empty plates from the table and rinsing them off in the sink. They sprinted off to the bathroom while I went to pick out their outfits for today.
I pulled two matching floral dresses from their closet as they came running in. I then grabbed their white converses and helped them get dressed.
Once finished they ran to the living room where Doc McStuffins was still playing on the TV. While they were occupied, I ran over to my room to get myself dressed. I put on a simple black and white striped button up that was halfway tucked into light denim shorts. I then slipped on sandals before pulling my blonde hair into a high ponytail.
After brushing my teeth and putting on my makeup, I got the girls out the apartment door and we headed to the car. I buckled them into their car seats and started the car. When Will My Life Begin from Tangled played non stop the whole car ride.
We soon arrived to Elena and Tyler's house. Once Keegan was free from the buckles, she sprinted from where the car was parked on the driveway into Tyler's arms. As soon as he saw the car pull in, he slammed the door open ready to see his nieces. Brynlee, on the other hand, was fast asleep in her car seat. She stirred slightly when I picked her up, and then laid her head on my shoulder.
"Is someone sleepy?" I asked in the voice you make when talking to a child. She then nodded with her eyes still closed making me chuckle.
I entered into the house to see Elena and another woman sitting at the kitchen counter. They didn't notice me at first until Bryn let out a little yawn.
"Hey Sab, this is Rebecca, my wedding planner. Rebecca, this is my best friend and maid of honor, Sabrina," Elena introduced. I smiled at the red-headed woman in front of me. Rebecca had to be in her mid-forties, but she was in incredible shape.
"It's nice to meet," I greeted shaking her hand. "I need to lay this little one down somewhere so I'll be right back."
I walked out of the kitchen and into the living room were Keegan and Tyler were both watching Peppa Pig. I set Bryn on the couch and she immediately cuddled into Tyler's side.
"How's the little princess?" Ty asked cuddling her.
"Sleepy," I answered. "Well I need to go back to your fiancée so make sure they don't injure themselves."
"Are you still holding that against me?"
"You dropped my daughter."
"So what do we have so far?" I asked coming back into the kitchen after a small argument with Tyler. I won!
"The color scheme is going to be burgundy and gold. We've also set the date for November 6 which is a Saturday," Elena answered as I sat in the chair next to her.
"Now we'll discuss who's in the wedding and the smaller details like decorations," Rebecca directed. "So who all is in the wedding?"
"Well we have both of our parents. Sabrina is my maid of honor. Tyler's best friend, Cory, is his best man. Our flower girls are Keegan and Brynlee, Sabrina's daughters. The ring bearer is Tyler's cousin, Nathan."
"Okay, what about bridesmaids and groomsmen?"
"For bridesmaids, I have Delaney, Angela, Kelly, Haley, and Jordyn," she listed. Delaney is Josh's sister which we are both really close to. Angela and Kelly are two soon-to-be nurses that Elena met at med school. Haley is her 14 year old sister while Jordyn is my sister.
"For the groomsmen, there is Landon, Calum, Griffin, Scott, and..." her voice faded as she looked over at me with a worried look as I just gave her a confused look back. Landon is Delaney's husband and Tyler's boss/ friend. Calum is a buddy from college. Griffin is Tyler's 17 year old brother, and Scott is his 12 year old brother.
Who else is there... wait.
I immediately changed my confused expression to one of horror.
"Who is the last groomsmen?" Rebecca asked clearly not seeing the look on my face.
"Josh," Elena said the one name that made my world come crashing down.
This is going to be one h-ll of a wedding.
————
Josh's POV
I was sitting on my tan couch looking at the muted TV in front of me as I waited for Tyler to answer his phone. Luckily, he answered on the third ring.
"Hey man, shouldn't you being doing something baseball related?" He asked.
"Hey," I greeted. "Today is my day off."
"Ah, so why are you calling me at 8 in the morning on your day off? You should be sleeping in."
"I guess I'm just use to waking up early," I lied knowing that I didn't even sleep last night. I mean how could I? This penthouse is quite lonely when you're actually in it. I'm barely ever here due to playing. When I am here I tend to think, and thinking leads to no sleep.
Most of the time, I am out like a light when I hit my bed since training wore me out, but I wasn't necessarily tired.
"We both know that's a lie. You didn't sleep last night did you?"
He knows me too well.
"Maybe."
"Is it about Sabrina?" He asked already knowing the answer to that question. It's always about her. She's in my mind all the time. I like to use playing and partying as a way to forget about her, but it never works. I even try to get with other girls, but back out when it comes to taking them home. They're just not her.
"Can we not talk about it?" I asked ready to change the subject. "What are you doing right now?"
"It's 8 o'clock on a Monday morning. What do you think I'm doing?"
"Sorry. Did I interrupt anything at work?" I cringe knowing I didn't even think about him possibly being busy.
"Nah, I just got here," he said knowing I would feel guilty for interrupting something.
"You're a jerk."
"I know. Now why are you calling me?"
"Can't I just say hi to my friend?"
"Not when we literally talked last night about the wedding," he reminded. Last night, after the meeting with the wedding planner, he gave me the details of the date so I could work it out with my schedule. That also reminds me that I need to talk to Coach.
"Fine," I gave in. "I just want to know how she is."
"Sabrina is fine. Today is actually the first day of school."
"Was she nervous?"
"Why don't you ask her yourself?" These past few years, I've constantly asked Cory and Tyler how Sab was doing. They would get annoyed every once in a while, and they were pretty mad at me when I first left. I completely understand though. What I did was a bad move, but there's no way to take it back.
"Because if I call her and hear her voice, I know I'm going to automatically get a plane ticket to San Diego."
"You're going to have to see her at the wedding though."
"I know."
"Just making sure," he said followed by a pause. "Well I have to go, boss man needs me."
"Bye." I then hung up the phone and headed to my bedroom to get dressed. My room was painted dark gray while everything else was also a different shade of gray. It was quite boring, but it looked nice.
The sliding door to my closet opened when I pushed the button on the wall. I walked in and picked out a simple white T-shirt. Then I paired that with denim jeans and my famous leather jacket. After throwing on some shoes, I left my fancy penthouse and made my way to the elevator.
Waiting for the barista to tell me my coffee was ready, created a chance for everyone in the cafe to keep looking at me. No one said anything, but they made it very clear that they knew who I was.
"JOSH!" The barista yelled sliding a to-go coffee cup onto the counter. I swiftly grabbed it and thanked him before walking out.
I then proceeded to walk along the busy sidewalk as I headed to the Yankee stadium. Usually I would get an Uber, but the traffic was extremely bad this morning.
Soon enough, I arrived at the stadium after a 15 minute walk. I went straight to our locker room and saw some rookies packing up their bags.
Coach Gibson's office was to the right of the entrance which was where I was headed. I knocked before entering, and he was sitting at his desk reading something on his phone.
"Hey Coach," I greeted as he looked up for a split second.
"Hey Parker. What are you doing here, it's your day off?"
"I know, but I needed to ask you about my schedule."
"You could have just called me."
"Yeah, but I wanted to get out of my place for a little," I said causing him to give me a knowing look. The first week of playing on the team, Coach could automatically tell that something was always in the back of my mind. He asked me about and I told me about Sabrina. He was pretty skeptical about it seeing I may get distracted, but I promised that it would not bother my playing. Fortunately, it never did. Playing was my distraction and passion.
"So what's this about your schedule?"
"My buddy's wedding is on November 6, and I was wondering if I could go back home for a week or two?"
"You're a good player, Parker. So I'm going to clear your schedule from September 10 to November 10. Does that sound good?" He asked looking at the calendar on his desk.
"That sounds great," I said happy to get a little break from the tough training.
"Okay, but I have a few conditions," he began. "You have to promise me that you'll go to the gym every other day, and keep practicing your pitching. Got it?"
"Got it," I stated getting up to leave as he went back to his phone. "Thanks Coach."
"Oh and Parker," he said stopping me from leaving as I turned to face him. "While you're there, try and work this whole thing out with that girl."
With those parting words, I was off to my next stop.
I knocked on the wooden door of my manager's house, and it soon opened to reveal a tired man.
"Hey Jimmy," I greeted. Jimmy Davis is my manager's husband.
"Hey Josh, what are you doing here?" He asked letting me in. Their house had a homey feel with lots of pictures of their family on the wall. Angela, my manager, has two kids. Their eldest, Mason, is three, and their youngest, Elise, just turned one.
"I actually need to talk to Angela about my friend's wedding," I responded right as a little boy in monster truck pajamas came running into the living room.
"JOSH!" He exclaimed throwing his arms around one of my legs in an attempt at a hug. To help him out, I swiftly picked him up.
"Hey buddy! Are you causing your parents any trouble?"
"No, but El keeps crying," he explains. Angela then walks in with a little girl cuddled in her arms.
"Jimmy," Angela sighs, "can you hold Elise while I talk to Josh?"
Jimmy grabs El from his wife's arms and heads for the kitchen with Mason trailing behind. I then turn to Angela who is trying to clean up some of the toys on the floor.
"So what's this about a wedding?" She asks me as we both sit down.
"One of my best friends, back at home, is having his wedding, and I'm a groomsmen. Coach already said it was fine for me to go, he cleared my schedule for 2 months. I'm just making sure that's fine with you."
"Wow, two months is pretty generous for that man, but that's fine with me."
"Great." As I got up to leave so I wouldn't be much of a bother anymore, she stopped me and pointed her figure back to the chair.
"I'm not done with you," she stated. "I know Sabrina is probably going to be there so I want you to be smart about your decisions. Don't go getting st-face drunk and regretting something in the morning."
"I promise I won't." She's had to deal with me making mistakes while drunk too many times. I've had online gossip sites catch me at multiple clubs with multiple girls.
"Also while you're there maybe go help out your other friend, Cory, with the baseball team," she suggested and I nodded in agreement. That's actually a good idea.
I soon left their house after saying goodbye to the kids. As I sat in the Uber to go back to my penthouse, I got a call from Cory.
"Hey man, I was just about to call you," I said picking up the phone. The driver then pulled in front of the building as I got out.
"Yeah, Tyler texted me saying you were talking to Coach about the wedding. What'd he say?" He asked as I made my way up to my floor.
"Well lets just say I'm coming home a little earlier."
"How early?"
"September 10."
"Wow!"
"Yeah, I was actually wondering if I could help you coach a few days a week?"
"That would be great. The guys really look up to you."
"Awesome," I said taking a seat on the living room couch. "Also don't tell Tyler that I'm coming early, I want to surprise him."
"Got it."
"So what's up?" I asked switching the subject. "I heard it's the first day of school."
"Yeah I just got done with one of my classes, and now I'm off to my lunch break. What about you?"
"I just got back to my house. I'll probably get something to eat soon," I responded. He was about to say something when another voice sounded from the background.
"Cory, if you don't hurry up, I'm leaving your a-s here," I heard her growl out.
Sabrina.
The sound of her voice just hit me. It hasn't changed one bit, and man do I miss it.
"Well I got to go. See you soon," he ended the call leaving me to think about her.
I have exactly 2 weeks until I see her again, and I'm not sure if I'm completely ready.
————
Josh's POV
I walked out of the gym with my shirt hanging over my shoulder, my water bottle in one hand, and my phone in the other. Before I made it to my car, a blonde girl stood in front of my door.
"Hello, hot stuff," she greeted with a smirk and a wink.
"Hi?" I questioned wondering who this woman is.
"I'm Tiffany, and I was just about to go to the gym when I saw you," she explained.
"You were about to go to the gym in jeans?" I asked taking in her outfit. Does she think I'm stupid?
"Yeah-," she was cut off by the sound of my phone ringing. I looked down to see it was Cory calling.
"I have to take this," I stated as she moved away from the door allowing me to get in my car. I immediately answered the phone while also starting the car.
"Hey man, what's up?" I greeted as I pulled out of the parking lot leaving the girl standing there.
"Nothing much. I actually need your help coming up with ideas for Tyler's bachelor party."
"Well Tyler is a kid at heart, so I would definitely do something fun like a trampoline park or an amusement park," I responded as I heard loud squeals in the background. It's sounds like an actual child.
"Hold on," he told me. "Keegan get down from the counter you're going to fall."
Who's Keegan?
"Okay, I'm back," he stated after a long pause filled with giggles. "A trampoline park sounds great."
"Yeah," I agreed still confused. "Who's Keegan?"
"Oh-," he was cut off by the sound of cries. "St. Brynlee, what did your mother say about running down the stairs? Hey man, I have to go. Talk to you later."
Before I could respond back, he hung up.
Who is Keegan? Who is Brynlee? Whose kids are they? Did Cory have kids without telling me? | LEARN_MORE | https://a.libynovel.com/ad/bGlieS8xNDg1OTEvMjAyNDA | 108133278947193 | LiB002 | https://facebook.com/100092178008070 | 63 | 1 | 930,110,448,658,287 | 2024-04-14 02:00 | person_profile | eligible | 0 | 0 | NONE | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | Learn more | 0 | LiB002 | 120207338199550691 | a.libynovel.com | NONE | video | https://a.libynovel.com/ad/bGlieS8xNDg1OTEvMjAyNDA0MTExNjM3MDQvcGFnZQ==?adid={{ad.id}} | 2024-04-11 03:55 | https://scontent-ord5-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/437661507_1437514056864034_4491814852528336899_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_s60x60&_nc_cat=111&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=3edwtEVI4IsAb7YZxrM&_nc_ht=scontent-ord5-1.xx&oh=00_AfAxBuyuJkDfJxQep76XpKH_lwrWkBjxv2ESIGtoTxwKGA&oe=66223AF3 | person_profile | 0 | LiB002 | https://scontent-ord5-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/435373103_313607985083598_5947704517183039032_n.jpg?_nc_cat=104&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=EosDoAAahBsAb7QM3PF&_nc_ht=scontent-ord5-2.xx&oh=00_AfB4TKICeAj2mQnUfKhgfxrwlqji3dZCkvOUEEjer34c9w&oe=66222D67 | 0 | 3 | LiB002 | 0 | 0 | 2024-04-14 02:00 | View Edit Delete

Her next words took both of them by surprise. She was anything but weak and she knew she deserved a lot better than some douche bag who was disrespectful towards his own mate. Alpha or not, he shouldn't be the one who gets the last laugh.
***
Nikolina POV
4 hours earlier
I woke up in a very good mood. I am finally eighteen and today is the day I find my mate. It actually depends on both sides. If they are of age, they'll find each other soon enough, seventeen is the youngest you can be when you find your mate.
However, most of the time, the guy or the girl have to wait for their other half to come of age, which I think is a great idea.
Yes, I'm a werewolf, specifically the current Beta's daughter and soon to be Beta's sister. The disappointment of the family. But that's okay; I'm not very inclined to make them proud or follow in their footsteps, but mostly they want Alex to do it.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not abused or bullied; except for the occasional remarks, shunned from society, the usual stuff.
They say I'm ugly, but I know better than to believe that. I could have been popular due to my blue eyes and gold speckles, blonde hair and hourglass figure. But I like to keep to myself. Plus my hair was naturally blonde unlike my mother's peroxide bleached hair that comes out of bottles and pricey extensions. Actually, dad and Alex both have brown hair so I don't know how I have blonde hair. For months, I even checked the roots of my hair to find some sort of discoloration to prove that even my hair was bleached. But in vain.
My mom was the stereotypical cheerleader in high school while my dad was the “douche” and quarterback. Apparently they want me to be like them, and social hierarchy exists in packs as well. And my brother is following our parents footsteps, sleeping with more than half of the population, while I'm not.
They revel in attention and bullying people who are lower than them, as they say. To the outside world, my family and I love each other. On the inside it’s an extreme hate relationship, something the pack is aware of except for the Alpha and Luna.
If they knew the truth, my parents, Tiffany and Mark, would lose their respect and beloved Alex's position would be taken away from him. Which would obviously take his popularity down a notch. Horrifying for him. Entertaining for me.
Anyways, today is also the soon-to-be Alpha's eighteenth birthday. James Rodriguez.
Sometimes I wonder how someone as sweet and kind as Diana and George, produce a kid like James.
In short, James is the snobby player. It’s actually really surprising how none of the girls are pregnant yet...
Back to me, I dressed up with more care than usual. I wore a baby pink sundress with black gladiator sandals. I applied a bit of winged liner to make my eyes pop. I've always read stories about loving mates. Who knows how much of it is true? For all I know, it’s some made up fantasy to make mates seem like the ultimate endgame. Maybe one day, I would meet my mate and then we could run away towards the sunset............or something, I don't really care.
Apparently, all mates are compatible with their other half. It’s like love at first sight and the males getting all possessive about their mates is very appealing and a turn on, or so I've heard.
It's all hearsay. And I think it’s stupid. It’s like the males are all custom made robots. Why else would their behavior be so alike?
And there was a paragraph about heat and shifting and marking. Maybe, my mate's gonna go all caveman on me and tear my throat out.
I'm just kidding, morbid thoughts on my birthday are kind of my thing. And its wishful thinking. I don't care. He might even be an omega and I still wouldn't care. Even if he's a human, it wouldn't matter. And if he's not in this pack then..... Oh well... It's better for me. I don't want to stay in a pack where I have no respect and people treat me bad. Status had once mattered to me. But when you have parents like mine, you kind of start praying not to ever be like them.
Not once did they look at me but of course, Alexander was doted on by everyone. Kids. Parents. Friends. You name it.
Apparently, it's because he's a boy. And according to my mother, girls are good for getting screwed, getting hit on, obeying their men, acting flirty along, and popping out heirs.
And lucky for you all, my mother happens to be exhibit A.
You should all be jealous because it's not everyday that you have a live walking, talking example to show the word and tell them what a hoe your mother is.
Third Person POV
Nikolina walked to school as she was not allowed a car. Though Alex was the proud owner of a shiny Silver Volvo. Double standards were very common in the Reed family. She had always wanted her own car, something that was a stunning shade of bright canary yellow, but that dream was nowhere close to becoming a reality.
All of a sudden, she smelt an amazing scent; peppermint and honey. Lydia purred and rolled around in happiness, barely able to contain her excitement.
On searching for the source, her eyes met warm, hazel orbs. His eyes expressed lust and adoration as they raked all over her body.
Realization finally hit her hard when she saw that James-freaking-Rodriguez was her mate! The next Alpha of Solaris Eclipse Pack. And he was Portia's long-standing boyfriend.
You know what he did next? James went back to groping the head cheerleader. “Portia.... “ Oh, sorry. Rookie mistake. Portia Scott.
Tears threatened to fall while her wolf Lydia whimpered, seeing her mate touch another...
“Our mate is beautiful.” James's wolf, Jace said. Nikolina was more than just beautiful. Many males of the pack thought she was gorgeous but never mentioned it out loud due to the fear of facing Alex's wrath. Alex was the one to start it all: the petty insults, the hateful words and making an outcast out of her. Others had just followed his footsteps. And of course, some of the girls were shallow enough to find happiness by making Nikolina feel miserable, because they were insecure about themselves.
But the main issue was, though James thought Nikolina was pretty, he would never accept her as his mate and Luna. Though she was Beta Mark's daughter and was of high status, both him and his ego considered her a nobody. He knew about the insults and he had done it as well. In his eyes, she was worthless and all everyone ever did was talk down on her and she never fought back.
He couldn't have a... thing like that as his mate. Beauty just wasn't enough for him, being a ruthless woman was a requirement.
“She might be beautiful but I don't want her. She's a nobody. If people know that she is my mate, I would become the laughing stock of my pack. Seriously, people walk all over her. She can never be my Luna.” That was the thought going through his mind as he sucked on Portia's neck hard enough to bruise.
“Ow! You're hurting me, boo! You know Kelly has my concealer today.” Portia whined but still made no move to shove James away. She just proceeded to grind her lower body into James and trying to get as close as humanly possible without getting rid of her clothes in public.
James finally pried Portia off his body and walked towards his mate. In some ways, Portia was like a bloodsucking leech or an annoying wart, never leaving without a fight.
“Baby, where are you going? I need you!” Her voice was like a cat dragging its claws across a board.
James just signalled her to shut up before walking towards his mate. He would do the right thing, of course, as the future Alpha of Solaris Eclipse Pack and give Nikolina what she deserves.
He stopped in front of her and asked, “What's your name?”
“Nikolina,” she stated. He soon noticed that she had no friends and no car and he felt the curious stares on his back as everyone's attention was on him.
“I, James Rodriguez, soon to be alpha of Eclipse Pack reject you, Nikolina Reed as my mate and Luna. “ As he rejected her, Jace whimpered and cowered. And James felt bad but he knew this was the right thing to do for himself and the pack. From his perspective, Nikolina was someone who brought out the worst in people and Portia was way more deserving to be his mate and Luna, considering that she was fearless and wasn't afraid to fight dirty for her rights.
James was an egoistic douche bag who mistook petty behavior for fearless but he was blinded by the greed for power and popularity.
The pain was blinding for Nikolina. She would have collapsed if not for the anger that surged through her. She was furious. At James. The Moon Goddess. Not realizing how painful rejection was. Her fate. It was a never ending list.
It felt like she was being drowned in liquid bleach, her lungs burned and she saw red. Anger took over the pain she was feeling and she didn't want to give him the satisfaction of knowing how hurt she was.
Her next words took both of them by surprise. She was anything but weak and she knew she deserved a lot better than some douche bag who was disrespectful towards his own mate. Alpha or not, he shouldn't be the one who gets the last laugh.
“I, Nikolina Reed, accept your rejection as my mate and Alpha. I sincerely hope you get the clap!”
With that, she turned on her heel and left the school premises.
“Who needs a mate? Especially someone like James. People like him need girls like Portia by their sides, who cater to their whims and needs and whatever freaky carnal desire they might have.” Nikolina thought darkly. She wasn't going to give in to her pain and this rejection was the final push that encouraged her to chase after her freedom and break bonds with the family who had clipped off her wings.
James felt a tiny bit of hurt realizing that she didn't even think twice before accepting the rejection and all he could wonder was how did she not burst into tears or grovel at his feet to take her back. Jace did not talk. He just whimpered, feeling the loss of his mate. Before James could think of it anymore, Portia dragged him to an empty classroom to distract her beloved Jamie boo. It seemed as if James wasn't the least bit affected by the incident with Nikolina, because his actions didn't falter as he hitched Portia's skirt up and ripped her panties, drilling her like an animal and releasing himself on her clothes and face as he left her alone to clean up.
Nikolina POV
“Well, he can go drill his toy as much as he wants.” I thought darkly while making my way towards home. All Lydia did was whimper. The moment I saw James, I knew something like this was bound to happen. You don't have any expectations when someone like him is supposed to be your destined mate. He was born with a big ego and he can just stuff it up his.
“Maybe he regrets hurting us, you know.” Lydia whimpered.
Before I could reply, searing hot pain flooded my senses. I felt myself fall on the pavement and the pain started to become more intense. It is obvious, isn't it? He's already drilling someone just minutes after rejecting me. It felt like my body was set on fire and the blistering flames charred my skin.
I slowly got up and almost keeled over as my vision turned white. Dizziness washed over me. I had to clench my fists and dig my fingers hard enough to draw blood. Getting away from him and this stupid pack is my best bet. He was doing it intentionally considering the fact he knows that we're both connected unless one of us dies or gets marked by another. Walking never felt so strenuous and with every step I had to force myself to not curl up on the pavement and cry. I know I deserve someone better but I did want to cry my pain away.
After what seemed like hours, the pain slowly ebbed away. Painful times ahead. The only problem is that the mate bond doesn't break even after being rejected. Only if the rejected is marked by the first mate or by another, or if one of the mates die, will the bond break.
I entered my house and went to my room to pack my bags. You know, in every werewolf story the rejected mate writes letters before leaving. There's no logic to it. I mean, don't you get it? No one cares if you leave. No one cares if you die. No one cares if you slit your throat or get molested or murdered. That's the harsh truth. Why should I open my feelings on a letter make them feel pity? I can just run away and live my best life, away from them. It's not like they will send out search teams for you.
I don't want pity. I can do better than that. I picked up my red lipstick and wrote in capitals before leaving. I know I'm dramatic but it serves them right. They'll remember this for years to come: women can walk away without feeling a twinge of guilt or regret.
Showing vulnerability would only make me seem weak and I've let people walk over me way too many times.
My mom was probably busy getting her hair done or something. That's the only thing she ever does. Or her nails. Or maybe she was out shopping with snobby people like herself. It's obvious that birds of a feather flock together. The only thing I ever liked about her is that she cooked for us, sometimes. Mom made a mean lasagna.
Dad was probably with Alpha George. That's usually where he is. But then again, he also has this terrible habit of getting drunk during daylight hours. And once he even groped some other girl in front of the whole pack. Mom turned an ugly shade of red as she kicked him in the crotch. Those were the good days. It was fun when he laid on the couch with a bag of frozen peas on his groin and mom was nowhere around.
Leaving was better for me anyway. Nothing was tying me down to this place. No friends. No proper family. I would be doing myself and them a favor.
I took my dad's sleek black Porsche for my escapade. I might as well leave loaded and in style, besides it's high time I had a car.
Just as I reached the pack border, I said, “I, Nikolina Reed, break all ties with the Solaris Eclipse Pack.” The patrol guards looked at me, but its not like they would stop me.
The pack links broke and with that I revved up the engine and sped through the borders, driving towards my new life. A better life. It was a blessing that this pack did not care enough to stop me.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Wanna listen more? download our App and check more! "You have to be joking."
Garrett? Garrett Hunter?? The disfigured, rejected brother of Matthew? This had to be some sort of joke. They couldn't possibly be serious. But her parents were not laughing.
"This is no joke. You will be marrying Garrett Hunter."
"I am his fated mate. We're meant to be together. Why would he want to reject me? There must be a mistake!"
"Lily, you're an omega. No respectable Alpha would want you as their Luna. We're saving you the agony of having to deal with your mate having a mistress," her mother explained.
______________
Lily Bray stood in front of the mirror admiring herself. Her skin glowed from her previous run with the pups of the pack. Even though she was the daughter of the Alpha, she enjoyed helping out with the pups.
'You should wear the red dress,' Dina, her wolf, suggested.
'You're just being petty,' Lily replied as she looked at the dresses on her bed. The festive red would be the best choice since all her other dresses were too bright for the winter. She picked it up and looked at herself in the mirror.
'No, I'm not. Matthew said we look nice in red. We should wear it! It's also one of the colors in his pack,' Dina added.
Lily smiled at the thought of wearing the colors of the Grey Blood Pack. She, of course, was going to be their Luna after the mating ceremony. The very thought of it made her blush. Who would've thought that she would be mated to a future Alpha?
'We deserve it, no matter our rank! Matthew doesn't care that we are an Omega, so we shouldn't care anymore either,' Dina said confidently, 'Put on the red dress.'
Lily didn't need to be convinced as she quickly began to get dressed. She could hear the clicking of heels and immediately knew who it was before she heard the voice.
"Lily, what's taking you so long?" Her sister, Brandy, yelled from outside her bedroom door.
"Coming!" Lily quickly put on lip gloss and smoothed out the wrinkles in her festive red dress before rushing to the door. She opened it to see Brandy standing there looking uninterested as always.
"Took you long enough," Brandy said. She looked her up and down and her eye twitched slightly before saying, "Cute dress." Anyone that didn't know Brandy would have thought she was complimenting Lily, but Lily knew better. Brandy disapproved of everything she wore and did.
"You're just upset that you couldn't find the dress in your size," Lily retorted. She knew that Brandy was looking at the dress. It wasn't her finest moment to be so petty, but she found some satisfaction from it as Brandy always got what she wanted.
Brandy replied with a scowl, "That dress is old news. I found one that was much better and more fitting for me." She walked past Lily, making sure to bump her with her shoulder. Lily resisted the urge to snarl. She would not let her ruin the evening.
Brandy wore a low-cut black form-fitting dress with black heels. Her hair was pulled up high in a ponytail. She had blush on her cheek, and she wore bright red lipstick.
'She looks like a street walker and ugly at that,' Dina commented.
'That's not nice,' Lily responded.
'It's the truth. You should hear what Mable says about you. Brandy can't even dress decently at home. Who is she flaunting for?' Dina countered.
Dina never liked Brandy as she tormented Lily growing up. Everything had to be her way and if Lily resisted, Brandy made sure to hurt her in some way. As soon as Lily could shift, Dina made it her business to take a swipe at Brandy.
Lily and Brandy entered the dining hall where her parents were. They were sipping spirits and talking but stopped as soon as they entered.
"Oh, you look so lovely!" her mother said to Brandy.
Lily had to refrain from rolling her eyes as Brandy practically glowed from her mother's compliment. Brandy gave Lily a smug look before sitting next to their mother.
Her mother gave Lily a momentary glance before saying, "Oh, Lily. You know, red isn't a good color for you, but at least you've been eating well at school. How are your studies going?"
"I passed all my exams. Straight As again," Lily said happily.
Lily sat down in front of Brandy, her mother, and her father. She thought it was odd that they were sitting across from her but pushed the thought out of her mind.
Her mother casually remarked, "That's lovely, honey," before changing the subject as if concluding a formality. "Do you have that dress I mentioned, Brandy? The one in white?"
"Yes, I did. I got it at a discount too. We had a credit once we returned the other dress," Brandy explained.
Lily lost her enthusiasm when she understood that, yet again, no one was interested in what she had accomplished. She poured herself a glass of spirits and downed it. Lily looked at her father, who seemed too busy to greet her while he was looking at his phone.
'Do not worry about them. We have mates now. They will be our family,' Dina said to cheer Lily up. Lily only had to look forward to returning to her dorm and the upcoming mating ceremony. She would be where she was wanted, with Matthew.
Her mother and Brandy had been conversing when her father cleared his throat, drawing their attention to him. Her father said, "I am happy that you are doing well in your studies, Lily, but there won't be a need to go back in the Spring."
"What do you mean?" Lily asked.
"Now that you are mated, it is not a productive use of your time. You must get ready to be a devoted mate," Her father responded.
"Well, I can do both. I have already worked it out. I will be able to attend Luna lessons during the day and school at night," Lily explained. She spent a lot of time and effort with the academic advisor to make that arrangement.
"That money could be used for something else, like your sister's mating ceremony," her father proposed.
"Brandy! You have a mate?! That's exciting! Why didn't you tell me? We can go dress shopping together!" Lily exclaimed happily.
Brandy scoffed and said, "You won't need a dress. Daddy, just tell her already. This is just sad."
"Tell me what?" Lily said, looking confused as she turned to look back at her father. "Tell me what, Dad?"
"I had a discussion with Alpha Jack of the Grey Blood Pack. His son, Matthew, will become the new Alpha in a few months. His father and I have agreed that Matthew needs to have a strong mate by his side to lead the pack successfully," Lily's father explained, "And that is not you."
Lily felt as if her whole world had been turned upside down. She didn't know if she wanted to scream or cry. How could they make this decision for her?
"In three days, you will attend the rejection ceremony, and then in a week, you will have a mating ceremony with someone more on your level, his brother, Garrett Hunter."
Lily stared in horror at her father. She couldn't make sense of what he was saying. Why would Matthew reject her? When they talked on the phone all day, he never mentioned it.
"You're joking," Lily said. "You have to be joking."
Her father scowled at her because he disliked repeating himself. He paused for a moment to collect himself before saying, "This is no joke. You will be marrying Garrett Hunter."
When Lily heard her father say those words, her heart sank. "I am his fated mate. We're meant to be together. Why would he want to reject me? There must be a mistake!"
"Lily, you're an omega. No respectable Alpha would want you as their Luna. We're saving you the agony of having to deal with your mate having a mistress," her mother explained, "and it's not like you won't have a mate."
"It's what you deserve, Lily. Garrett is perfect for you," Brandy said smugly.
Garrett? Garrett Hunter?? The disfigured, rejected brother of Matthew? This had to be some sort of joke. They couldn't possibly be serious. But her parents were not laughing.
Lily slid her seat back and stood up. She ran back to her room, slamming the door behind her. Brandy stood up to bring her back downstairs, but her mother stopped her.
"Leave her alone. There is nowhere she can go. This is something she must accept," her mother stated.
"Pick up the phone, Matthew. Come on!" Lily murmured as she dialed his number for the tenth time. It just rang again and again until it went to voicemail. Lily didn't bother leaving another voicemail because she had already left five.
Lily sighed in frustration and tossed her phone to the floor before pacing the room. Why would her parents subject her to such cruelty? Wasn't it enough that they treated her like trash because she was an omega? But now they were going to take this away from her as well?!
Lily nearly crashed into the wall to get to her phone when it buzzed on the bed. Her heart sank again when she realized it was Tiffany, not Matthew, calling. Lily answered the phone.
"Hey girlie! It has been hours. What was the dinner about? Are you..." Tiffany started.
Lily interjected and said, "Can I come over? I can't stay here. Please say yes."
Hearing her tone, Tiffany became serious and asked, "What's wrong? Your sister is bothering you again?"
"No. It's much worse. Please tell me I can come over," Lily pleaded.
"Yes, you can come. I am not leaving for my parents' until tomorrow. Where are you? I can come to get you," Tiffany offered.
"No. I will come to you," Lily said, "Thank you." She quickly hung up the phone. Lily went to her closet and grabbed an overnight bag. She yanked her dress off and changed into a t-shirt and workout pants.
Lily then began packing items she didn't want to lose and enough clothes to get her through the holidays. She had no intention of coming back here.
The door to her bedroom swung open, causing Lily to jump. She turned to see Mira, one of the omegas working in the kitchen. Mira placed her finger on her lips before she slowly closed the door behind her.
"They told you," Mira said. It was more of a statement than a question. It made Lily sick to her stomach. Everyone had been smiling in her face. Did everyone but her know? It was humiliating that this was kept from her. "I was commanded not to tell you. I really wanted to."
"It's fine, Mira. I know you wouldn't betray me," Lily responded. It would be physically impossible for Mira to go against a command. Perhaps if she were a Gamma or even a Beta, but as an Omega, the pain of it would have killed her wolf, which would've killed her.
"I won't let them force me," Lily declared. "I can't let them take one of the only things that have made me happy."
Mira and Lily grew very close growing up. As they were both omegas and Lily was excluded from high-ranking wolf activities, she spent most of her time with Mira. Mira's father, the pack doctor, was the reason she wanted to become a doctor in the first place.
"Then, let me help you," Mira said, "I can get you out of here. They planned to leave you alone for the rest of the weekend."
"You can't. If they find out..."
"They'll assume I helped you even if I didn't. I'll be beaten no matter what, but I won't die," Mira countered, interrupting her. "Dad is already outside with a car to take you wherever you want to go."
Lily hugged Mira tightly. Mira smiled slightly, wanting to go with her, but she was bound to the pack grounds. Leaving or even going rogue would harm her father's position in the pack. She couldn't risk it.
"Thank you, Mira," Lily said.
Tiffany opened her front door to see Lily standing like a beat dog in her doorway. Lily waved to the car that drove away. Tiffany pulled her into her home and quickly closed the door. Lily immediately began sobbing uncontrollably.
"Lily, what's going on? What happened?" Tiffany asked, leading her to the sofa. She had already prepared Lily's favorite meal as well as hot cocoa.
"They are trying to force me into a rejection ceremony," Lily managed to say.
"What? Why? They can't do that. It'd be spitting in the Goddess' face. You could end up cursed or worse," Tiffany exclaimed.
"They don't care. They don't think I'd be a fit for him because I'm an omega," Lily stated.
"That's not up to them. That's up to the Goddess, and the Goddess wants you and Matthew to be together," Tiffany stated.
"They don't see it that way. They..." Lily stopped in mid sentence as a horrible pain gripped her chest. She gasped as she clutched her chest and tried to slow her breathing.
"Lily? Is it one of your panic attacks?" Tiffany asked.
Lily could only nod, unable to speak as she concentrated on breathing as the pain radiated through her. She suffered from panic attacks for a long time. Lily assumed it was because of stress. It would eventually fade, thanks to Dina's assistance.
Lily gasped in relief as the pain began to fade, and she said, "I'm okay now."
"You need to speak with Matthew. You two can elope, and they won't be able to do anything about it,"
"Elope?"
"Are you sure you don't want me to come with you?" Tiffany asked as she walked Lily out of her apartment. She didn't want to leave her in such a terrible situation.
"No, I need to do this alone," Lily answered with a weak smile. She couldn't get in contact with Matthew all night. Lily needed to speak with him. Whatever happened between her and Matthew, she would have to deal with it alone. Lily didn't want to get her too caught up in her family drama.
"Well, you know where my spare key is," Tiffany said.
"Don't worry about me. I'll be okay. Matthew and I will elope, and everything will be fine," Lily said.
Tiffany smiled slightly, but Lily noticed that her eyes looked somewhat sad. She had known Tiffany long enough to know that she was holding back. Before Lily could ask Tiffany what she was thinking, Lily's cab arrived.
Tiffany hugged her again and said, "Keep me updated. You know my parents will accept you with open arms. They said the offer is still open if you want to join my pack."
Lily nodded and got into the cab. She waved goodbye before telling the cab driver, "10 Armstead Place." The cab driver nodded and drove off.
The drive didn't take long. All the while, she could feel a stabbing pain in her chance. It was another anxiety attack. She had never felt so bad before.
"Ma'am, are you okay?" the cab driver asked, noticing her distress.
"Yes, I am fine. Thank you," Lily answered. "Just having a little panic attack, I think."
'It's the stress,' Dina said to her. 'I am doing everything I can to dull it. I can't reach Baldur. I don't know why he isn't responding to me. Do you think our father or maybe his father did something?'
Baldur was Matthew's wolf. He was as happy as Dina when they learned that they were mates. As much as Lily and Matthew talked on the phone, Dina and Baldur communicated more telepathically.
'It could be. I can't believe it. I don't want to believe that Matthew would agree to this. Maybe he is cutting off all communication because he doesn't want anyone to find him. No one knows about his apartment in the city,' Lily responded.
The city was a neutral zone for all supernatural creatures. Pack hierarchy or mutual dislike of different races wasn't tolerated here. The elders made it a point that all supernatural children grew up aware of others to squash any ignorance. It was a good idea in theory, but many outside factors were at play. People couldn't help but judge one another.
"We're here," the cab driver said, bringing Lily out of her thoughts. She pulled out $40 from her wallet and said, "Keep the change." She got out of the car and rushed up the steps to Matthew's apartment.
Lily had been there more than once over the weekend. Her family never knew when she was home, and she wanted to keep it that way. When it would get bad at home, Matthew was a reprieve for her as Lily didn't want to have to deal with her family any more than she had to.
Lily quickly grabbed the spare key under the mat and opened the door. She stepped into his apartment, and the pain seemed to intensify. Lily gripped her chest and almost fell face-first into the carpet. She used the wall to move further into his apartment.
There was a smell that she couldn't quite place. It made her hackles rise. She felt angry for no reason.
'Find him now,' Dina growled within her.
'What's wrong?' Lily asked, but Dina only responded with a growl.
"Oh, Matthew, deeper! Oh, yes! Pull my hair!"
An all-too-familiar voice broke the silence, and Lily could now hear the slapping of skin. As she approached his bedroom, it became increasingly louder. Lily swallowed hard as she tried to process what she was hearing and what she didn't want to believe was happening. Lily's hand shivered as she was about to place her hand on the door.
'We must see this,' Dina growled. 'Open the door.'
Lily slowly pushed open the door. There in front of her was Brandy, her sister, on all knees, back arched, while her fated mate was thrusting in her with abandon. Brandy lifted her head and smirked at Lily. It finally clicked now.
Matthew didn't answer his phone because he was with her.
The anxiety attacks, the waves of pain were Matthew making love to her.
Lily was almost catatonic as she watched the betrayal before her eyes. This was supposed to be her. She had waited years for him, and here he was having intercourse with this bimbo in front of her.
"Oh, I'm coming," Matthew groaned as he released into Brandy. Brandy's eyes rolled in satisfaction as she bounced back against Matthew, milking him of every drop.
Lily gripped the side of the door frame, her claws going straight through as she tried to compose herself. The sudden movement caused Matthew to look up. His eyes widened in surprise when he saw her.
"Oh hello, sister. Did you enjoy the show?" Brandy mocked as Lily walked into the room. Lily said nothing as she approached Brandy. With all her might, Lily slapped Brandy hard enough to send her into the headboard.
"You bimbo!" Brandy yelled as she gripped her head in pain. Lily slapped her again before Matthew caught her wrist. She used her other hand to slap Matthew across the face with strength she didn't know she had. Her claws left gashes on the side of his face.
"Lily, what the heck?" Matthew exclaimed.
"Don't ever speak to us, you filthy dog," Lily growled out. Her eyes were silver as it was Dina now talking. "All this time, you betrayed us for this bimbo!"
"You have to understand, Lily. I didn't have a choice. I..."
"Enough of your lies! I will go through with the rejection ceremony. We can do it tonight because I want to be rid of you. I'll take whatever curse the Goddess dishes out!" Lily screamed before storming out, leaving the door wide open.
"Don't you think that is inappropriate?" Kenneth asked his Luna from the doorway of their bedroom.
"Not at all. It is a joyous occasion," Mandy said as she applied burgundy lipstick and stood up. She brushed the wrinkles out of her blue sweater dress as she looked herself over in the mirror before approaching him with a slight smile. "You should change. That suit is so depressing."
"The suit is proper attire for the custom. You shouldn't take this much glee in her suffering," Kenneth responded, causing Mandy to frown.
Mandy scoffed and said, "Don't try to act like you care about the little brat now. Don't be a hypocrite. You could care less and this arrangement will benefit the both of us."
"At least make it believable in front of the Hunters," Kenneth reasoned. Mandy rolled her eyes. Of course she would behave. What kind of idiot did he take her for?
"Come. You wouldn't want to keep Lily waiting," Mandy said condescendingly.
Again, Kenneth didn't respond and followed Mandy to the entertainment hall. Both packs were in attendance. Both acknowledged their presence, showing their necks to them both.
Alpha Jack and Luna Kelly looked agitated by the entire situation. The Luna of Grey Blood Pack was very against the rejection ceremony. However, she didn't have much say in the situation since both Alphas agreed to it.
"Where is she?" Kenneth asked one of the omegas that were serving spirits.
"She is coming, my Alpha. We are watching her closely. There is no chance she will run away again," the omega answered.
Kenneth nodded and walked to the stage with Jack following behind him. He took a spoon to his spirits glass to get everyone's attention.
"Thank you for joining us here tonight to celebrate the union of two great packs," Kenneth began and turned to Jack, "It is an honor that our packs will be united."
"Yes, we look forward to our unified strength," Jack nodded.
"Lily, Brandy, and Matthew Hunter, please come up here," Kenneth said.
Brandy quickly came to greet her father. Kenneth frowned at her attire as he reluctantly hugged her. She was always scantily clad, even after telling her to dress appropriately for the occasion.
'Like mother, like daughter,' Kenneth's wolf, Jasper, said before growling in irritation at seeing Matthew. Kenneth had recently learned that Matthew had been sleeping with Brandy behind Lily's back. As a father and a believer of old customs, he wanted to choke him, but it was better this way. At least one of his daughters would be a proper Luna.
'We should tear his throat out for humiliating Lily,' Jasper growled.
'Calm down,' Kenneth told him.
'You're a pathetic father,' Jasper responded before blocking himself from Kenneth like he always did.
After a few minutes, Lily did not show. Kenneth frowned and he spoke over the microphone, "Where is Lily? Bring her here!" He didn't need her defying him in front of both packs. This union had to happen.
"I am here, father!"
Matthew stood on the stage awkwardly. He didn't expect that both packs would be here for this. Matthew assumed that this would be a private affair, but he knew his mother had to have had a hand in this.
Kelly had been horrified and disappointed in Matthew when she discovered that Matthew had been sleeping with Lily's little sister. No one in their line had ever denied the Moon Goddess' will up until now. The only thing that calmed her was that Lily would still marry into the pack.
Matthew didn't really want to be mated with Brandy. He just wanted to have fun before he was forever bound to Lily. However, he understood why his father wanted him to mate Mandy instead. An Alpha had to be seen as strong. A weak Luna was a liability. He could not rule a pack with an omega Luna.
'It is not the right choice!' Baldur growled within him. 'Why did the Moon Goddess curse me to be bonded to you until death? She is meant for us! You know it!'
'There is nothing we can do now. It is done,' Matthew responded.
'You fool. You're going to regret this.' Baldur warned before Matthew suppressed him again like he always did when he didn't want to hear what he had to say.
After Kenneth and his father Jack's speech, there was a pause as they waited for Lily to appear. She had not shown up, which infuriated Kenneth. As he demanded to know where Lily was, her voice rang out.
"I am here, father!"
Lily emerged from the crowd, taking Matthew's breath away. There were murmurs from the crowd as they watched Lily. She wore a simple form-fitting strapless white dress with an overlay of lace. Her hair was pulled up in a bun, and a white veil covered her face. Lily wore her wedding dress to the rejection ceremony.
When she got to the stage, she hugged her father, ignored Mandy, and curtsied to Alpha Jack and Luna Kelly before taking her position in front of Matthew. Lily kept a calm expression, but Matthew could see the fury in Lily's eyes.
"Lily, I..." Matthew started, but she raised her hand, stopping him.
Lily gave her hand to Jack and nodded to him. Jack smirked. This little female had sass. It was a shame that she was not an Alpha. Jack took the ceremonial blade and cut her palm. Matthew gave his hand to Kenneth, and he cut Matthew's hand.
"I... I..." Matthew stammered. He found that he could not bring himself to say the words. Everything in him told him it was wrong. "Father, I can't. I..."
"I, Lily Bray, the first-born daughter of Alpha Kenneth Bray, and my wolf, Dina, reject you, Matthew Hunter, the first-born son of Kenneth Hunter, and your wolf Baldur for your betrayal of our mate bond with my sister, Brandy," Lily said firmly as she grabbed Matthew's hand. Yes | 2024-04-14 19:40 | active | 530 | 0 | 7112639112173786 | 🔥🔥 Click to Read 👉🏻👉🏻 | I quietly walked further into my flat, towards my bedroom, almost tripping over his shirt that lay discarded on the floor. It was not the only article of clothing strewn across the floor. There was some woman’s clothing on the floor too. Judging by the size the woman had to be a supermodel or something. The clothing was so small. It had to be the smallest size you could get here in the UK for women.
I suddenly felt so insecure, because that size of clothing would never fit me now, it did when I was in my late teens, but not now.
I arrived at my bedroom, but I made sure to remain hidden out of sight. Thankfully the door was open a little bit, so I could see everything. I could hear his distinct grunts and moans, as well as the moans of another woman.
I peered through the small crack in the door and saw him with another woman in my bed. His back was to me, so he didn’t notice that I had seen what he was doing. The woman looked like a supermodel to me, but I really couldn’t see her very well, except for a little bit of her blonde hair that was spread across the sheets.
————————

Eilith’s POV-
I am heading home early from my grandparents’ house. I decided to visit them, because I wanted to see them. I do not see them as much as I would like too, since I finished University and started making my way in the world. You see, I have lived with my grandparents since I was five years old, because my parents sadly died in a car accident, I don’t know much else than that. There was no other family, and my grandparents fought to keep me with them.
My father was the heir to a very powerful business. He had been running it for ten years before he died, but after he passed, my grandparents made the difficult decision of selling the business to the highest bidder. My grandparents focused on investing after that to maintain their wealth.
My family is one of the very wealthy families in the United Kingdom. As the sole heiress to the wealth, my grandparents did not want me to have friends or boyfriends who just wanted me for my money, so I told everyone my name was Eilith Smith, not Eilith Clarke, which is my actual name. I have only told Kelly Roberts, my best friend, because she was a rich girl too, and has been my closest and dearest friend since we were eight years old. I really would not know what I would do without her, she has been there for me through so much.
I had told my boyfriend, Dylan Harrison, that I would be out for most of the day and will not likely be home till the evening. In a note on his bedside, next to his phone, because he was still asleep, as I had woken up very early. I wanted to get to my grandparents before the morning traffic rush. But when I got there, my grandparents were going to visit a friend of theirs for and early dinner, so I had to leave far earlier than expected.
When I usually visit them, I spend all day, sometimes into the next day with them, because they raised me and it is nice to be able to help them out around their home and visit my horse, which they keep at their home, in the stables on their land. When they were ready to leave to go have dinner, that was when I left to go home. I didn’t mention to my boyfriend that I was on the way home. I was thinking I would surprise him.
I returned home, thinking I would be able to have a nice relaxing bath, and then maybe plan a nice romantic dinner for myself and Dylan, if he is home from the football match early enough. It wasn’t something we often did at home. I thought it would be a nice change. I love to cook, but he prefers to eat out at lavish places. He is the type to love to flaunt his wealth. Those plans were soon dashed…
I entered my flat quietly, just in case Dylan was still asleep, which is how I left him this morning when I left to visit my grandparents. What I saw in front of me stopped me in my tracks. My mind went blank. In that moment, I almost forgot to breathe.
I somehow managed to get the front door closed behind me quietly. When I turned around, I focused more on what was going one even though I was already beginning to understand what was going on, and honestly it didn’t feel real. It didn’t feel like it was happening to me.
A cooked breakfast that had been made and eaten by two was left on my dining table. Romantic music played on the radio. I couldn’t quite hear it; I think because this whole thing felt like an out of body experience. I could not believe my eyes; Dylan had never once done anything like this for me. He would never cook for me, I think he even joked that it was a woman’s job once, but he was drunk and with friends, so I never took it to heart. Yet he would do it for a woman, who was not his girlfriend.
I felt pain in my chest, that spread up my throat choking me. I knew I would not be able to say anything to him, but I had to know, was he really cheating on me?
I quietly walked further into my flat, towards my bedroom, almost tripping over his shirt that lay discarded on the floor.
I didn’t know her, but a hatred grew in my heart almost straight away for her.
I could feel my eyes well with tears, as my hand covered my mouth. I could not stay here any longer, my voice was all but gone. I couldn’t stay there to speak with him, let alone look at him right now. Not to mention, I know he has a temper when someone confronts him, it has happened before when we were out, but it has never been aimed at me before. Something I was always scared of happening. How could he do this to me, after everything I had done for him? How could he cheat on me after all these years? Has he been cheating on me this whole time? Could I really forgive him if he made promises? I just needed to get out of here for now.
So, I left, as quietly and quickly as I could. I didn’t want him to know that I had seen him, because I could not deal with the confrontation right now, and his excuses and temper.

My best friend, Kelly, had a little while before she started work at the restaurant, she was a manager at. She has dreams of starting her own restaurant chain and wanted to get experience working the lower levels in the restaurant beforehand. I jumped into my car, and headed to the restaurant she works at. I texted her to tell her I was on my way to her, before I left.
“What is wrong? You have me worried.”
“I... I found... Dylan cheating on me,” I choked.
“I am not surprised. I have told you many times, he is not worthy of you. Think about your entire relationship. I have known you far longer than Dylan has known you. You were always so confident and free. You wore what you want, when you wanted. Red is your favourite colour, and you have stopped wearing anything red, because he didn’t like you wearing red. You told me it made him mad if you wore red. You stopped eating pasta, one of your favourite things to eat, because he said you would get fat. He told you to stop hanging around with my brother, who treats you like a sister. I bet he gets mad if he finds out you were with me and my brother. That is controlling behaviour, a major red flag. If you stay with him, he will just keep cheating on you, and this controlling behaviour will just get worse, until you are isolated from your friends and family, and that is when he will start physically abusing you. Eilith, please, you must leave him now,” she said.
I sat in the driver’s seat of my car, thinking about what she said, and as I thought,
“Was he really that bad? I can’t believe I let him do that to me, to do everything that he did to me,” I whimpered.
I was glad she didn’t ask what he did to me, because I wasn’t ready to talk about it. She rubbed my back, and said, “It is okay. One day soon we will sit down and have a long hard talk about everything that he did. Maybe it will be best if you go to therapy too. But I will not leave your side. I will stand by you through this whole ordeal, I promise.”
“How am I going to make it without you? You’re leaving to move to London in a few days,” I whispered, in between my sobs.
“Come with us. Josh and I have brought a three-bed house in London. Josh won’t mind you moving into the spare bedroom, until you get back on your feet. He will understand. He sees you as a little sister,” Kelly suggested.
Josh is Kelly’s older brother. He really did see me as his little sister, just like I see him as my brother. I looked at her, a little shocked about that idea. I whispered, “But, I have nothing packed, and he is at home.”
She nodded, pausing and thinking about what I could do to deal with this situation. I too, was thinking, because I didn’t want things to turn out like this. Dylan was very scary when he was mad. In those moments, I believed that he could hit me, even though he never got angry at me. She cleared her throat, and said, “I am only doing a four-hour shift, to cover the time the other manager can’t be in due to childcare. When she gets here, I will have Josh pick me up and come straight over to help you. Once you know he is out of your flat, go there and pack everything up that you can, as quickly as you can, and leave. Get it done before he gets home. If he does get home, before Josh and I get there, send me our code word. So, I know you are in danger, and need help I will call the police.”
We have had a code word, for a great many years. It was more to ensure our safety while we were out at night. We knew the other would need help if we received HOD by text. It stands for House of Dead, an arcade game that we both loved to play with Kelly’s brother. It was short simple and to the point. Plus, three letters that meant something to the both of us makes a great code word.
“But what if he tries to hurt you or Josh,” I said.
“Do you know why he hates Josh,” she responded.
I shook my head, and asked, “Why?”
“Do you remember that day when we were looking at dresses online, before we went shopping. According to Josh, when I said you would look drop dead gorgeous in that red dress you were looking at, Dylan looked at it, and muttered some vile things about you. Josh heard that, when they were alone, Josh laid into him. Dylan tried to get in Josh’s face, Josh didn’t flinch instead he just smirked. Dylan backed down,” she explained.
Josh was different from Dylan, physically. Josh is taller and has broader shoulders and is more muscular compared to Dylan. Josh is a gym rat. He loves working out and using weights. Dylan, on the other hand, rarely goes to the gym, but is well toned and skinny. Dylan wouldn’t stand against Josh in a fight, not only due to their difference physically, but because Josh is training to be a boxer for the Olympics. I have seen him knock a man out with a single punch. So, he is a strong man. The perfect kind of older brother you want.
“So, that is why he didn’t want me to be around Josh,” I said.
She nodded, “Josh made him feel emasculated. He is toxic, so you need to leave him. I will call Josh and tell him to be ready and get here to pick me up early, in the hopes that I may be able to leave earlier. I must go. Josh and I will be on our way to help you as soon as we can. Stay safe.”
I nodded, “Thank you, Kelly.”
“Be careful and send me text updates. Please make sure that if he comes back, you send me that code word,” she said, as she began climbing out of my car.
I nodded, “I promise.”
I watched as she called Josh and headed inside the restaurant to start her shift. I looked down as my phone, and realised I had a text from Dylan.
Dylan: “Hey babe, I hope you are having fun with your grandparents. I won’t be in when you come home. I am going to watch the football match with the boys. I will be back later tonight. Make yourself dinner. Xx”
I stared down at the text. The football match he was talking about was in two hours, so he would leave the home in thirty minutes to meet with his friends, so he can head to the match with them. I had to reply but keep it as normal as possible to my usual texts, and honestly that was the frightening thing. One mistake and this could go wrong.
Me: “I am just about to leave my grandparents. I will be about an hour, maybe a little longer, as there is some road works near my grandparents’ home. Have fun at the football match. Text me when you are on your way home. Xx”
He read the text message and replied with a simple okay. I grabbed my suitcases out of my wardrobe. I had two sizes a large one and a cabin one. I opened both, leaving them on the floor. I quickly yanked some of my clothing off the hangers and threw them in the suitcase. I emptied my drawers of clothing and just threw them in my suitcase. I chucked in my favourite pairs of shoes. I grabbed my electronics that I wanted to take. Though I could buy replacement electronics, and I probably will once I get settled in, I need to be able to keep a line of communication open with my grandparents and so I can get a new job in London. I grabbed whatever else I could.

I looked at the time and saw a text from Kelly. She had managed to leave work an hour early, and Josh had picked her up. They were on their way to me. I suddenly had this feeling like someone was behind me. I typed HOD into a text before I turned around. Dylan was standing in the doorway to what was our bedroom. He had his hands clenched into fists by his legs. A rage in his eyes that I have never seen before, far worse than all the other times he was angry.

“Why are you packing all your things,” he hissed, through gritted teeth.

I took a deep breath, with my finger over the button, readying to hit send. I said, “Because I am leaving you.”

“No, you are not leaving me,” he yelled.

“I saw you earlier, with another woman, in what should have been our bed. It was what I needed to see that you were a controlling freak in our whole relationship. So, yes, I am leaving you,” I responded calmly, turning and hitting send.

His heavy footsteps thunder towards me, making the floor of our flat shake. His hand tangled into my hair, and yanked my head back, before snatching my phone from my hand. Thankfully, I locked it before he could read my texts. He growled, “You are not leaving me! I bet you think this because you are cheating on me. Who is he? Show me who you were sending a text too just now.”

“Get off of me,” I yelled, trying to push him away from me.

“Who is he,” spitting as he shouted, pulling my hair harder.

I pushed him away from me. It surprised him enough to let go of my hair and to stumble backwards away from me, I screamed, “I never cheated. You did. You have restricted me, banned me, belittled me, and treated me harshly on countless occasions. My heart is broken. How I could ever love a man like you, I do not know.”

Tears welled in my eyes, so I turned around and began to zip up my suitcases. I didn’t want to see his reaction to what I said, I couldn’t deal with him if he started crying. I really might faulter if that happens. That was when I felt something hard hit the back of my head. My head began to pound and ache. I gripped where he hit me on my head with my hand and turned to look at Dylan. But before I could say anything, he raised his fist and slammed it into my face. The blow was hard enough, to knock me backwards into the bedside cabinet. I hit my head on the corner of the bedside cabinet, before hitting the floor. I could feel a wet hot liquid slide across my face. I touched it and looked at my hand. It was blood. I was bleeding from my head. I gripped my head and began to curl up into the fetal position. Before I could curl up, Dylan kicked me in the stomach and ribs, not just once, but many times. I lost count how many times he kicked me. I felt something crack in my rib cage. I tried my best to use my arms to protect my body and head, but there was only so much I could do, while in so much pain. The pain was excruciating. All I could do was cry and whimper the pain made it too hard to move. He grabbed my hair on the back of my head, tearing some hair from my head, and snarled, “If you hadn’t threatened to leave, then none of this would have happened. Do you want to know why I sleep with other girls, because after all the times we have, you were never ready for what I needed to be full satisfied. But now you are going to find out. Remember this is all your fault.”

He slammed my head into the ground. The impact made my head heavy and made it hard for me to keep myself conscious. My ears were now ringing from the impact. It was because of that, that I did not hear what he was doing. The ringing subsided, only for me to hear a massive crack, and a shocking sting across my back, which made me cry out. I managed to look up and see that he was holding a whip. He hit me with a whip. I was now seeing a completely different side to him, a side that would have made me run for the hills years ago. How did I not see this side to him?

“This is what I like,” he growled, lust evident in his voice.

I tried my best to move, to get away. But I was in so much pain. The sound of the crack of the whip came again, just before the impact on my back. I screamed out. This time it was even more painful. The taste of blood filled my mouth, as I felt a trickle of blood pooling on my back. Tears were streaming down my face. I was trying to prepare myself for another blow. But that was when I heard the sirens. In that moment, I had never felt so happy to hear sirens before. Dylan dropped the whip, and muttered.

That was when he bolted out of the door. I breathed a sigh of relief, even though my chest hurt so much. Pain was all over my body. My head and back were the most painful. With my head hurt, it was getting harder for me to stay awake my consciousness was wavering. My eyes closing slowly, the pain becoming unbearable. | LEARN_MORE | https://a.mobobooks.com/ad/TW9ib29rcy8xNTAwOTQvMjA | 123910400815364 | Mob001 | https://facebook.com/61553314005849 | 52 | 1 | 316,153,801,490,555 | 2024-04-14 02:00 | person_profile | eligible | 0 | 0 | NONE | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | Learn more | 0 | Mob001 | 120208165303250415 | a.mobobooks.com | NONE | video | https://a.mobobooks.com/ad/TW9ib29rcy8xNTAwOTQvMjAyNDA0MTMyMTU2MDgvcGFnZQ==?adid={{ad.id}} | 2024-04-13 09:00 | https://scontent-den2-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/435559976_1842029289596020_8416573173691096502_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_s60x60&_nc_cat=109&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=yKHlX8Szkw8Ab4EcLkm&_nc_ht=scontent-den2-1.xx&oh=00_AfBbv3lUoX8wRp8HCImAZOFo7TCNC7EWbHXjN02Vf_9P6A&oe=662245F4 | person_profile | 0 | Mob001 | https://scontent-den2-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/437790709_746206903987078_5991853637879733437_n.jpg?_nc_cat=106&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=ysneec9tdAMAb6Bmy1j&_nc_ht=scontent-den2-1.xx&oh=00_AfBTFiwm_yXM6T_DVBEBR95sB5BwqliFdqZC1R7j_VlRMw&oe=66225E41 | 0 | 3 | Mob001 | 0 | 0 | 2024-04-14 02:00 | View Edit Delete

Who is Keegan? Who is Brynlee? Whose kids are they? Did Cory have kids without telling me? | LEARN_MORE | https://b.ficsworld.com/ad/Zmljd29ybGQvMTQ4NjA0LzI | 139299595929929 | World002 | https://facebook.com/61551823504143 | 73 | 1 | 3,740,222,596,305,588 | 2024-04-14 02:00 | person_profile | eligible | 0 | 0 | NONE | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | Learn more | 0 | World002 | 120207708459360061 | b.ficsworld.com | NONE | video | https://b.ficsworld.com/ad/Zmljd29ybGQvMTQ4NjA0LzIwMjQwNDExMTYzNzUzL3BhZ2U=?adid={{ad.id}} | 2024-04-11 03:56 | https://scontent-lga3-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/435560260_1014216966953787_2872113609968581610_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_s60x60&_nc_cat=104&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=M4x9fqerP7wAb7wyxBe&_nc_ht=scontent-lga3-2.xx&oh=00_AfAKaXEeMMkmmhlWAeGUz68zco4R4YETpXASFDVU0NPinQ&oe=66222DD9 | person_profile | 0 | World002 | https://scontent-lga3-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/436164036_2357314251128983_4348280075593872989_n.jpg?_nc_cat=105&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=JX81SFgCNG4Ab6CoNnv&_nc_oc=AdhgGGZLwysloi6J33C2e7cLM8VJDIR-QEnMIC0Y3FPdZfvzcnz7NBy1IAl-1O-rT-w&_nc_ht=scontent-lga3-2.xx&oh=00_AfAduXmZ9GdKQS6zoiWX0QjHNfQYjbeSlNoS3aVGHaonYw&oe=66224025 | 0 | 3 | World002 | 0 | 0 | 2024-04-14 02:00 | View Edit Delete

Before your choose a Wedding Photographer, be sure to check out their work. Here's an important factor to consider.....

Kelly and Taylor's Wedding Day ~

Don't forget the details....

The couple, the moments, the parents, the location, the energy, the venue, the weather, bonds of friendship, the wedding party, the guests, the decor, the details, and more.....

As a Wedding Planner/Designer, detail is super important to me. What I love about experienced Photographers, is that they just "GET IT" when it comes to capturing the day!

I especially appreciate Photographers that go out of their way to send me (The Planner) photos to share an early sneak peek. We both understand the assignment....

They understand and appreciate the work and effort that Wedding Planners put into a couple's special moment, and they don't miss a detail. With weddings, every detail is a special memory. They also respect "the expense" the bride and groom cover to hire us for these details to come to fruition. Imagine your largest expense not being covered at all.

Obviously the couple, the bridal party, the ceremony, and reception are givens. But it's important that your Photographer understands that every detail matters. I loved that about Amanda Barnes Photography! | CALL_NOW | 173391136038257 | Luvone's Beautiful Occasions | https://facebook.com/luvonesbeautifuloccasions | 2,980 | 1 | 1,101,232,687,892,104 | 2024-04-14 02:00 | person_profile | eligible | 0 | 0 | NONE | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | Call now | 0 | Luvone's Beautiful Occasions | 6578605588901 | NONE | multi_images | 2024-04-14 08:41 | https://scontent.fosu2-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/437365214_738612048309687_9095240708098153877_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_s60x60&_nc_cat=106&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=GqN1Temb1a8Ab68OSom&_nc_ht=scontent.fosu2-1.fna&oh=00_AfBBfRLtAo0nNv6ALX-aF2IiWgsqsn4su2yTPhEzBJNDLg&oe=662244A9 | person_profile | 0 | 0 | 3 | Luvone's Beautiful Occasions | 0 | 0 | 2024-04-14 02:00 | View Edit Delete |
