"Do you want that, buttercup? Do you want us to give your little cherry what it craves?" "Y…yes, sir." I breathed Joanna Clover's hard work through university paid off when she got a secretary job offer to her dream company, Dangote Group of Industries. The company is owned by three mafia heirs, they don't only own a joint business, they are also lovers and had been together since their college days. They are sexually attracted to one another but they share everything together including women and they change them like clothes. They are known as the world's most dangerous playboys. They want to share her but will she accept the fact that they sleep each other? Will she be able to navigate business and pleasure? She has never been touched by a man before let alone three, all at the same time. Will she oblige? ---------------------------------------------- Joanna I woke up to the sound of my alarm slowly getting louder and I waited for the chiming bells to stop before I rolled over and hit the screen. With a deep breath, I muster the energy to get out of the bed and drag myself to the shower. I had a job interview today and I needed to be there early so that I won't be labeled as a late comer. Quickly taking my shower, I did my morning routine before getting myself ready for the day and headed to the venue where the interview will be held. I got there almost before eight-thirty in the morning, the interview is scheduled for nine in the morning. I always like to be early, I hated doing things at the rush hour. But now, my patience is running out and my legs are bouncing up in frustration. It is already half past nine yet no one showed up and I have been waiting for more than an hour. After several months of job hunting and my years in the university. I am finally getting the opportunity to work in one of the biggest companies in the country, Dangote Group of industries. When I was twelve years old, I read about two brothers, Griffin and Justin Creed who started the company years ago right out of college. I followed the company from that time on, I got my General Education Development at the age of fifteen and got full academic scholarships to one of the top universities in the country. After several years of schooling, I finally got my degrees and masters. And when I reached a point where I felt qualified on the educational level, I tried to find a job in the company but I had no luck. It has been ten months since I finished my last degree and aside from some very low-paying internship, I have been out of luck on the job front. For the past four months, I worked at a struggling coffee shop and tried to use my expertise to help keep the door open. Right when I started working at the coffee shop, I saw a job vacancy at Dangote Group of industries and applied instantly. After three months of waiting, I was finally called in for an interview when I was about to give up on hope. But the bakery was able to keep gas in my car and I was able to make minimum payment on my loans but I was almost homeless and had barely any money in my name. So here I am, waiting for almost an hour. I let out a sigh and checked my watch again, who knew a place so established like this company would keep me waiting this long? I glance around the lobby, there was a security team at one desk near the door and a receptionist on the other side in the section I was sitting. The place was stark white with light blue and silver accents, luckily the chairs were comfortable. The receptionist, a petite blonde girl glance at me and send a sympathetic smile for the millionth time, if only she would stop looking at me and call someone to assist me. I checked my time again, and it was almost ten o'clock. And just as I was about to go talk to the receptionist, the elevator on the right side of the desk pinged and opened and a very gorgeous man stepped off and headed in my direction. Holy, he had dark hair and beautiful ocean blue eyes. He walked towards me as if he was walking down a runway, model perfect and gorgeous in a crisp dark brown suit with gold cuffs. "Miss, Clover?" He said in a deep voice that had the hint of an accent. He extended his hand and I took his hand in a handshake. He stood a few inches over my height in heels, I snaked my eyes up his chest till I met his sparkling eyes. They were clear blue like the sky and held me captivated. "Hello," I said, sliding my hand out of his and he stared at me for a second too long before blinking slowly. "I am Logan Walker, one of the partners here." He said smiling softly showing two dimples in his cheeks. A small pang of disappointment hit me, there were only pictures of Justin Creed and I don't know what Griffin looked like but I was hoping the man that was in front of me, the one that would be interviewing me would be him but I was wrong. "I am sorry for the delay, I was just told you were down here waiting. We were training some new assistant who apparently did not know how to relay a message." He said, the more he spoke, the more I realized he had a Greek accent. He is not from this country. "Come with me, let's head to my office. I am not a fan of big impersonal meeting rooms for one-on-one interviews." He said, gesturing towards the elevator, I nodded and grabbed my bag and credentials. When he turned his back to head to the elevator, I fixed my clothes. I had been sitting for so long, when my mother was alive, she had so many amazing outfits and this piece I am wearing now was one of them. It was a crop jacket and high waist pants suit in black soft wool, it was probably my favorite. I added a white tank that I found at the thrift store, it was also cropped so I had to make sure I pulled it down so that my mid drift didn't show. I added some strappy silver heels that made me feel mature and sophisticated. I put my curly hair in a loose bun and did light makeup. I wanted to hide my freckles because it made me look younger. I watched his back as he walked, he had to be one of the handsomest men I had ever met. He was lean but he had an athletic build and the suit fit him like a glove. He has a very nice hip too, if I took a guess, I would place him just over six feet. A few inappropriate thoughts flew through my head. He could fold me like a pretzel. Why did I just think that? I hurried to catch up to him, my heels sounded way too loud on the beautiful marble floor. The elevator doors were opening by the time I caught up and I hurriedly followed him on. He raised an eyebrow in my direction, causing me to flush and the corner of his mouth tipped up a little bit. Joanna "Did you have to travel far?" He asked, turning to face me. He reached across and hit the twelfth floor and the elevator door closet silently. "Four hours," I said quickly and he lifted a brow. "I drove here by myself," I added and he lifted his other brow, a look of slight surprise filling his face. "Alone?" He asked softly. The tone of his voice made me pause, I glanced up onto his eyes and that was a mistake. His ocean blue eyes held onto my gaze with an intensity that took my breath away. I had to look away and clear my throat, I could feel my face getting even more red and my skin may be light golden brown but when I flushed, it was so noticeable. I should have worn heavier makeup at this point. "Hmm, yes. I do most stuff alone these days." I responded, studying the elevator buttons as if something was interesting about them. He didn't say anything for a long moment and when I glanced at him again, I noticed he was studying me with a curious gaze. "Where did you come from?" He asked, breaking the silence. "Surulere, I grew up there." I replied as the elevator pinged and the doors slid open quietly. He gestured for me to step out first, I heeded and he followed me closely. I could feel the heat of his body on my back, he took a step around me and started walking straight down the hall. The colors were similar to the first floor, however there was no receptionist or security desk. Just a long spacious hallway. "All the partners work on this floor, it is easier for us to have meetings and whatnot. The first room is the conference room, just big enough to accommodate fifteen people and across from it is a lunchroom and a small kitchen. It is barely used because we usually eat out during lunchtime or just eat in our offices." He said, gesturing at the two rooms that were the first we came to. They were see-through floor-to-ceiling glass doors and walls. From what I could tell, they were all identical in that nature and I am not sure why he was giving me a tour of this floor. "We have four different sections that oversee the company, each has two panthers. Rodrigo and I are the lawyers here, we have an entire floor of lawyers who answer to us but we are the ones who give the final say in all legal matters that got on here at the company. You will be meeting Rodrigo tomorrow." He said, stopping in front of the next set of doors and I could see the names printed across each of the doors. Logan Walker, SJD and across the hall, Rodrigo Sawyer, SJD. "SJD? That is impressive." I murmured. SJD, Doctor of Juridical Science is a very specially awarded law degree, one of highest one could get. He grinned, a boyish look overcoming him and for the first time, it was as if he broke character, whatever character he had been playing. "Not many people know what those letters stand for, I guess I should not be surprised that you do." I blushed again, he gestured for me to continue down the hall with him. I thought about what he said, he wasn't surprised I did. Unsure of what it meant, although curious I decided not to ask too many questions today at least not yet. We walked towards another set of doors. "You can pick which side but this section is for the employee and company management team. We do not have anyone in that role so whichever side you prefer will be yours." He said, opening the office on the left side of the hallway. I froze, did he say pick a side? I haven't even been interviewed for this job yet much less the partner's secretary position. "I wasn't aware this role is was for a partner position." I stated, he gestured for me to enter the office. "It was not really, we like to promote from within. However when the Creed brothers looked over your resume, they were impressed with your accomplishments at such a young age and were too qualified for the secretary position...." He paused and his eyes roamed over my body for a moment. Gosh, no one has ever openly looked at me like that. "We don't have anyone as acting partner in tho role and we want to offer you the position on a trial basis. It has been vacant for three months and it has taken a big toll on Justine and Griffin. Right now, we do not have anyone who we feel can fill the role that is already working here." I am pretty sure my mouth dropped open at his words. After months of searching for an entry-level position, I had just been offered my dream job. I slowly stepped into the office, still too stunned to form a word. There were four big floor-to-ceiling windows that overlooked the city and the view was fantastic. I walked up to the window and put my hands on the glass, taking a deep breath. For a moment there, I forgot everything and just processed the situation. I felt tears trying to poke through my eyes, could this really be happening? I breathed in a few more deep breaths, trying to push the tears back as I didn't want Logan to see me like that. "You should see the view at night, it is even more amazing. I highly recommend this side of the building, the other side has a nice view but not as good as this one." He said in a soft voice and he sounded like he was right behind me. I spun around, he was standing so close that I almost got flushed to his chest. The corner of his eyes flicked down to my mouth and then back to my eyes before he took a step back. "Each office has a closet and a private bathroom." He added and I looked down for the first time. There was a desk and comfy looking office chair off to the side so that when you sat down, one could view out the window. There was also a rather comfy looking couch around a small corner in the office near the window. Across it were two doors, I walked over to them and opened one first. When he said closet, I was expecting a small broom closet but it was a large walk-in closet almost the size of my bedroom back home. Who had that many clothes beside celebrities and for work? The door on the left side, I went over and opened it. It was the bathroom, it was also big with a nice walk-in shower and lots of counter space. There was even a linen closet with towels and washcloths and a few hotel style white robes. "Who needs an apartment when you can just live in the office?" 3. Finally, I Have Gotten A Real Job Joanna "Who needs an apartment when you could just live in the office." I murmured as I exited the bathroom and went back into the office and he chuckled. "We put a lot of late nights here, it was definitely nice when we moved into this building to get the office set up like this for the partners. We do not require overtime for all our employees but partners like to make sure things are in order. We have big company and there is a outside the country, we also have a laundry service that comes and picks up linens every weekend by the way and for an extra fee, they will take care of your clothes as well." He explained and I didn't say a word. I was no stranger to overnights but we were not friends either. "A lady of few words?" He said curiously, snapping me out of my thoughts. I glanced at him to see he was studying me and I noticed his eyes had flickered up when I did. Was he staring at my body again? "Sorry, all this is a lot to take in, I wasn't expecting this." I said, I was no stranger to interviews but this wasn't an interview. "You were not expecting to get the job?" He asked, placing his hands in his pocket. "I was not expecting this job, I have been turned down for even some of the most entry level jobs you could think of because I have spent more years in school than working. And everyone wants someone with experience." I said, probably sharing more than I should have. "You have to start somewhere, we don't expect perfection the first year but that is why there is a trial period. If after that period you are not up for the job, we can reassess. However, I am sure with your drive that you will overcome any challenges.." he paused and eyed me up and down. "Let us go to my office and we can discuss some more details and you can make your decision from there." I gave him a nod and followed him out. My eyes wandered down his body again, the thought of climbing him like a tree raced through my head. How would I be able to work with such a gorgeous specimen? I blinked as that thought crossed my mind, I have never been with a man in any sense of the word. I was always too busy trying to improve myself that I had never felt an attraction to a man before. But now, the feeling was almost overwhelming. As we entered his office, it looked the same as the one we were in except it had some personal touches to it. He also had a much bigger desk chair, for how much they all seemed to work comfort was a good thing. He gestured for me to have a seat in one of the chairs in front of his desk. "So, I am assuming you know all about the company." He began and I nodded. He then proceeded to list off all the information I needed to know, from salary to vacation time, to sick days leave, responsibilities, travel expectancy and so on. After he finished his spiel, I was silent. I sat in silence for a moment, this was a big role with big responsibility and my first real job. He let me process what he had said so far and I was grateful for that. "Hmmm, will I get all of this in writing?" I managed to ask, he grinned and nodded. "I am just giving you a brief summary." Brief summary? Is he being serious right now? He has said a lot and he called it a brief summary. This man must be insane. "The onboarding packets will have all the information as well as forms you need to sign and fill out. Our accountants are notaries, so they can do all that legal stuff too." He grinned when he said it was legal. "How many partners are here?" I asked. "Right now, we have only four. Justin and Griffin are more CEOs than partners. They will all be in the office tomorrow if you so choose to accept the job, we will all be here to greet you." "How long do I have to accept the position?" I asked, one of his eyebrows raised slightly and he leaned back and studied me. "We would ask that you give us an answer within the week. We know it won't probably be a couple of weeks for you to tie up your affairs and move down here." He said in a measured tone and it threw me off guard for a moment. It was like some dark energy just washed over him. "Everything I own is in my truck, I would just like to read over the paperwork before I can accept it. But once I do, can I start as soon as I am allowed?" I asked, trying to match his energy. He smiled, his regular persona showing forth. It was strange how he was acting, he opened a drawer and pulled out a flash drive and handed it to me. Did they already know I was going to say yes to the job? "This is all the information that you would need, we have secured a hotel room for you to stay in while you are here and I hope to see you again here tomorrow morning by nine." He said. "If that works for you," he added, I took the flash drive from him. "Yes, that would work for me. So there is no interview?" I asked and he smirked. "There wasn't a need, we called all your references and internships, we were nothing but impressed. Justin and Griffin are very busy men." He stated. "How long was the last person in the position I am being offered?" I asked him. If they were offering me the job, they must be desperate but also could this be the reason the last person didn't work out? "One year, he was promoted from within. However, he was good at his job. He just abused it and violated some company policies." He responded and l nodded curtly, trying not to show the curiosity on my face. No need to ask any more questions, at least not today. The information was already too much, I needed time to process it. Finally, I have been offered a real job and I can move out of my brother's house. His wife's tantrums are becoming unbearable. 4: Is Nice To Be Wanted Joanna The next morning I woke up after a long night of reading over the thorough contract. This truly was a dream job, great benefit and amazing pay. For a first job, this would be a great start to my career and there has to be a catch somewhere. I had pondered over the contract until early this morning but there was nothing suspicious about it except that it was being offered to, well me. I knew I was years behind on experience as the rest of them, yet they still wanted me. One of the most fascinating things they offered was a student loan payoff clause after a year of working and being in good standing with the company. Up to thirty thousand dollars for partners and fifteen thousand for lower-level workers. I bet this is a big tax write off, definitely a way to keep people happy. I had wondered how the relationship with the workers and partners was, how much the CEOs Justin and Griffin interact with everyone else. It wouldn't be my job to make sure office morale was up but it is programmed into me. My phone buzzed, bringing me back to reality. I reached over and looked to see who was calling. I had already called my brother Asher and brought him to speed, he was thrilled and encouraged me to take the job. His wife Erica was probably more thrilled than him and she didn't even like me. She was just happy to have me out of their house. After she gave birth to a little boy, she had been adamant about me moving out and getting my life together. I adore my nephew and my brother but Erica was a bimbo and I am glad to be out of their house. Asher was only six years older than me so when my mother died, he was the only family I had gained custody. Since I started college so young, he didn't have to do much to raise me but he tried his best, putting his life on hold to make sure I didn't lack anything. Five years ago, he met Erica and they got married two years later. She never treated me right but never when my brother was around. I tried to keep the peace and never told my brother of the thing she put me through, mostly with verbal bullying. If nothing else, I would take the job just to have someplace else to go. Another ring of my phone brought my attention to it. It was an unknown number but had a Lekki area code so I answered it. "Hello," I said as I picked up the call. "Good morning, Joanna, it is Logan." The voice on the other end said and I sat up in bed immediately, feeling exposed. His voice made my stomach knot. "Ummm, good morning." "I am going to pick you up, it is going to be a long day." He said with way more energy than I felt. "You don't have to do that." I mumbled hesitantly, I didn't really want him to see me first thing this morning. "I know but I am already on my way, I will be there in thirty minutes." He said and then disconnected the call. I stared at the phone in shock, was he being sweet or controlling or both? I needed to get a move on, probably only having ten minutes before he knocked on the door. They put me in one of the nicest hotels I had ever been in yesterday and it was a luxury suite with a separate room and living area. I had a long soak in the whirlpool tub that was in the bathroom last night and wished I had time again this morning. I climbed out of the bed and quickly picked out a dress to wear. I had only brought five clothes in total, one for each day of the week and three pairs of heels, black and silver. I pulled out the black long sleeve sweater dress with a high neck and a belted waist. It was the beginning of ember months but slightly chilly already. I paired it with my silver strappy heels. After a quick shower, I got dressed and fixed my curls. I applied just a little more makeup today than I had yesterday, I didn't want them to catch me blushing like I had yesterday and I also tried my new pink lipstick. And then, a knock on the door came just a second after I checked myself out in the full length mirror. I closed the bedroom door behind me because it was in a hot mess and walked to the door. When I opened it, I was surprised not only to see Logan in a crisp black suit but another man almost a head taller than Logan. Holy, he was in a light green suit that fitted him to perfection and he looked like he had foreign country's heritage. He had a short cut beard with hints of gray mixed in and also in his dark hair and he had hints of gray along his sideburns. His dark eyes scanned me up and down and he flashed a smile when he met my eyes. His teeth were so white and just perfect. In fact, he was perfect. "Joanna, this is Rodrigo Sawyer, we carpool most mornings." Logan introduces him. "Hello," I said, surprised I didn't sound like a croaking frog and I noticed Logan was holding a carrier with coffee in it and gestured to them in. "You don't have to bring coffee." I said, closing the door behind them. "Sweetheart, I will do whatever it takes to get you to stay with us." Logan said, giving me a cheek to cheek greeting. He smelled delicious, causing my stomach to flip with his closeness. "Please forgive Logan for trying so hard, we have not seen someone so qualified for this job. We would hate to lose you." Rodrigo said, extending his hand for a handshake. His voice was deep and smooth and my stomach flipped again. Holy, was it possible to be attracted to two men at the same time? "It is okay, it is nice to be wanted." I replied, shaking his hand. Logan and Rodrigo shared a look. I wasn't sure what it was but it was something and then he released my hand reluctantly. "How do you like your coffee?" Logan asked, unloading another bag I didn't see him holding. "Ummm…cream and sugar." I said going over to the desk and packing my bag. "Did you have a good night's rest?" Logan asked as he prepared a cup of coffee. "I did," I responded, taking the coffee he offered. I looked at the clock on the stove in the kitchenette and it was eight o'clock, the office was ten minutes, the office was just ten minutes away, so why were they here so early? We still have one hour before the office opens and they are here just by eight o'clock. What are they up to? I stared at delicious men in my hotel room and my body electrified, feeling something I had never felt before. What is happening to me? Joanna "Did you do any exploring?" Rodrigo asked, his eyes roamed over my body again causing heat to rush up to my cheeks. "Ummm, no. I grabbed some room service and took a nap and then read over the contract." I replied. "Hopefully, today will be more fun." Logan said, he handed me a bagel. I must have been so distracted because I didn't see him bring in all this stuff, so I took it and said my thanks. I was really hungry. "Why do you say that?" I asked, taking a bite of the bagel and it was so fresh and still warm. I closed my eyes and savored it. It was blueberry which was my favorite and bagel are simple items but done right it could make your toes curl. I let out a croon, not realizing that they had stopped talking and then I opened my eyes and peeked up. Logan's eyes were dark with an emotion I was unable to identify. He was staring at my lips as I chewed. Maybe, there was food on my lips. I lifted my hand to my cheek but I didn't feel anything. Logan took a step towards me and without thinking I took a step back and straight into something solid and warm. Looking up, my eyes clashed right into the beautiful dark eyes of Rodrigo, I did not even realize he was behind me. His hands went up to my waist to steady me and I felt tingles on my hips where his hands were. Gosh, his hands were so big. I glanced back at Logan who had closed in on me, he reached his hand up to my face and stroked a finger down my cheek. "You are so beautiful, Joanna. Please don't shy away from us." He said softly. In any other circumstances, I would have felt uncomfortable and claustrophobic but I felt drawn towards him and Rodrigo's hands felt like a comfort on my body. Logan dipped his head down and softly placed his lips on mine and I melted, wrapping my arm around his neck, the one without my tasty bagel. He tasted so good, his tongue slipped into my mouth and explored it. My body felt tingly all the way down to my core, oh my goodness, what was this feeling? I had been pecked before, much less touched by a man. I broke my lips away from him and reluctantly unwrapped my arm from around his neck, he had red lipstick all over his mouth and I was sure mine was all over my face. His mouth tipped up in a smile and his lower lip, his eyes were still dark and longing. "She tastes so good, Rodrigo. You should taste her." He said, rubbing his thumb over his lips. A flutter went through my stomach, Rodrigo too? He had moved his hand up and over my stomach pressing me into his body. I looked up at him again and brought his mouth down on mine just as hungrily as Logan had. If Rodrigo didn't have me securely in his arms, I would have melted straight onto the floor. He explored my mouth as thoroughly as Logan had. I had to pull back, closing my eyes, I was breathing so hard and I felt like a red hot mess. They let me catch my breath, Logan was now sitting on the couch when I opened my eyes and the fog settled away. Logan smiled at me but remained silent and the smell of Rodrigo dark amber scent surrounded me. My panties were completely soaked through and I am sure they knew that. "Too bad we have to go to the office soon, there is so much I want to do." Logan said, breaking the silence. "Later," Rodrigo added and he leaned down the peck my neck, causing me to shiver. "Right now, I think she needs to refresh herself for work." He said and loosened his hold around me and I took a shaky step towards my room. "Joanna, sweetheart, if you keep that pink lipstick on, you won't make it to work today." Logan said, winking at me. I flushed and nodded, rushing to the bedroom and closing the door behind me. I pressed my back against the door and took deep steady breaths. Holy, they pecked me. They both pecked me. What was going on? Don't get me wrong, I was loving the attention but a part of me was almost appalled at myself for being so unprofessional. But the worst part is that I want more. I heard deep voices starting to talk in the other room and I pressed my cheek against the door to try and hear what they were saying. "I told you she is amazing." Logan said. "I didn't doubt you but she is just so young, man. Do you really think she can handle a situation like this?" Rodrigo muttered. A situation like what? What have I gotten myself into? "She didn't fight it just now and I am sure she is much more mature than her age warrants." Logan said in reply. "Maybe she is a smart girl who has more accomplishments than most people can do in forty years academically but because of that, she has probably never been in a relationship or even been touched by a man much less multiple." Rodrigo responded. Was I that readable? "Well, I wouldn't mind someone who hasn't been molded to a traditional standard. Besides, nothing about us is traditional." Logan said again, he said something else but it sounded like he moved farther away from earshot. I backed away from the door, confused by the whole situation. Maybe this is why the other employee left. Maybe they are vampires. I snorted at the thought, I have a wild fascination with vampires and the fictional stories that I would always read about them that made me wet. Especially when the girl had multiple lovers, their sexual fantasies always fascinated me. From what I used to overheard from my brother and his wife in the next room when I lived with them, it was boring and short. One of the many reasons I never wasted my time exploring sets with other people. I may have touched myself once or twice but never found satisfaction so I didn't bother anymore. I never felt the feeling I felt when both men pecked me. Men? That thought was so scary but yet so arousing. How would I make it through the day knowing that the promise of 'later' hangs in the air? It was just one word but it has a lot of meaning to it, the meaning I was eager to know. For some stupid reason, I want to be touched by them again, I want to feel the feeling again. Yes | 2024-10-19 05:54 | active | 1657 | 0 | Read next chapter | Her groom ran away from wedding to pursue his first love. Heartbroken, she randomly found a disabled man who was also abandoned to get married. Unexpectedly, he turned out to be a billionaire! ===== Chapter 1 How About We Get Married? "Today is our wedding day! What am I supposed to do if you leave?" At the wedding, Elyse Lloyd was in a panic as she grabbed Theo Ward's wrist to stop him from leaving, her eyes filling with pleading. "Kaelyn knows about our wedding, and now she's threatening to jump off a building. You are aware of her depression, aren't you? I have to go save her." Theo explained impatiently and pushed Elyse aside. The venue was filled with the family and friends of both parties, all seated and waiting. The officiant had posed the question to Theo about his willingness to marry Elyse. Instead of replying, he ignored the officiant, answered his phone, and then abruptly attempted to leave. "Kaelyn Bennett totally stabbed you in the back before. She's caused you so much pain--why the heck must you go see her right now?" "You're not in a position to judge what happened between me and Kaelyn. No matter her wrongs or the pain she caused, you don't measure up to her." A pain struck Elyse's heart. "You're more concerned with your wedding than a living person's life. You're so heartless. Let's reschedule the wedding." Without a glance at her pale face, he strode away from the ornate altar, oblivious to the puzzled looks of gathered guests. Elyse cried out, sitting pitifully on the floor. She trembled, tears ruining her carefully applied makeup. The man she had loved for three years, disregarding her dignity, had chosen another woman without a second thought on their big day. He was consumed with thoughts of Kaelyn's distress but seemed indifferent to how lost and humiliated she felt, left alone at the altar. All around her, countless eyes watched, some mocking, some pitying, and others even gloating. Elyse had never felt such torment! Her father, Lanny Lloyd, approached. She hoped for comfort, but instead, he scolded her sharply, "You can't even keep a man. How useless!" After berating her, he left with his wife, Glenda Lloyd, without a backward glance. Her sister, Mabel Lloyd, emerged from the crowd with a smirk. "Well, that's embarrassing, Elyse. Your groom ran off, and now you're a laughingstock. I'm embarrassed for you. Imagine how Mom and Dad feel." After saying that, she turned and left. One by one, all of Elyse's family members departed, leaving her completely alone. Initially, Theo's parents felt guilty, but upon witnessing her family's reaction, all traces of guilt dissipated. "Even her own parents didn't support her. It seems this isn't entirely Theo's fault." "Yes, if she were a good partner, why would her fiancé leave her?" "Did she cheat on him? What else would make a groom leave like that?" The murmurs of criticism from the surrounding guests grew louder and harsher. Suddenly, there were noises nearby. Turning around, Elyse spotted a man in a suit sitting alone in a wheelchair. The officiant, looking flustered, asked, "Where is your bride?" Wiping away her tears, she halted a passing staff member and inquired, "That man is a groom, right? Where is his bride?" The staff member glanced at her and responded, "She didn't show up. I heard it was because she couldn't deal with her husband's disability." "And he's been waiting here all this time?" The staff member nodded. The wheelchair-bound groom was facing away from Elyse, and they were a fair distance apart. She couldn't see his expression, but she understood the pain of being left alone. They were both unfortunate souls, abandoned. After a moment of reflection, a determined look settled in Elyse's eyes. She had loved Theo for three years, but he had betrayed her. Why should she remain loyal to him? She realized she didn't need to be with him at all. As she suddenly stood up, the guests who had been whispering and mocking her fell silent. All eyes instinctively focused on her as she lifted the hem of her dress and confidently walked toward the man in the wheelchair. The sight of a bride in a white wedding dress approaching left the man's guests equally stunned. Hearing the rustle of her dress, the man in the wheelchair turned around slowly. Elyse halted and gazed at the handsome man before her, a spark of surprise in her eyes. She then extended her hand and said, "Hello, I heard you're in need of a bride. My groom just left me. How about we get married?" Chapter 2 What Was She Up To? "My name is Elyse Lloyd. If it's all right with you, we can get married today," she proposed confidently. Her bold proposal left the crowd in shock, prompting several to capture the moment with their phones. "Miss Lloyd, are you certain about this decision? Given my disability, I may not be able to provide the future you envision," the man replied openly, without hiding his condition, and gently urged her to think it over. "I've made up my mind," Elyse responded with determination. "I'm Jayden," he introduced himself. Seeing her resolve, Jayden Owen grasped her hand and shared his concern, "I fear you might regret this choice later on." Elyse chose not to respond. She was sure of her decision. She had once been solely focused on marrying Theo, who never truly reciprocated her love. Now, who she married seemed inconsequential. After efficiently wrapping up the wedding formalities at City Hall, Elyse and Jayden were now bound by matrimony, officially united as husband and wife. With the marriage certificate in hand, Elyse experienced a profound sense of relief. Theo had broken her heart, and she was resolute in never returning to him. Regarding her father, since she would not be marrying into the Ward family, he had another daughter to think about. She understood her little sister Mabel too well. As someone driven by greed, how could Mabel resist the temptation to become Theo's wife and a member of the Ward family? Thus, marrying Jayden was Elyse's perfect escape from her family's clutches. She had no intention of going back home again. While she gazed thoughtfully at the marriage certificate, Jayden asked, "What's on your mind? Regretting your decision to marry a disabled man?" Elyse shook her head, took hold of the wheelchair, and replied, "I think it was a good decision." Jayden smiled slightly, though his eyes betrayed a hint of skepticism and mistrust. How could any woman genuinely want to marry a disabled man? He figured she was just putting on an act--an act that couldn't last forever. He needed a bride momentarily to distract his family while he pursued his own goals. Well, he decided, he might as well see what she was up to. Elyse helped Jayden into the car, and they drove to his house. Jayden's home was opulent, complete with a garden and a swimming pool, and staffed with a butler in a tuxedo and uniformed maids. As Elyse stepped onto the plush wool carpet, she truly realized that her new husband was far from ordinary. The butler, Driscoll Lee, approached them respectfully and inquired, "Mr. Owen, is this your bride?" Surveying the opulent house and recollecting her newlywed husband's full name, a sudden realization dawned on Elyse. The Owens were the most influential family in town, and Jayden Owen was particularly notable among his peers for his business acumen and exceptional talent. He was one of the wealthiest men around. However, after a car accident a year ago that cost him his legs, Jayden had faded from the public eye and his prior achievements were largely forgotten. So, she had married the legendary Jayden Owen? Elyse recalled hearing rumors about his engagement to a girl from the Foster family. The bride who had disappeared on her wedding day was supposed to be that Foster girl. Upon hearing Jayden's full name at City Hall, Elyse hadn't dwelled on it much. If she had known his background sooner, she wouldn't have had the courage to broach the topic of marriage with him. Jayden noticed the shock and panic on her face but remained silent. He still doubted that she truly hadn't recognized him. After all, his disability was well known. "This is Elyse Lloyd, my wife. From now on, she will be the hostess here," Jayden introduced her firmly. "Joanna Foster escaped on our wedding day because she didn't want to marry a disabled man," he added bluntly. "Joanna Foster disappeared on the wedding day?" Driscoll expressed his surprise. The Foster family had been eager to forge a union with the Owen family through marriage, pushing for Jayden to marry Joanna. On the wedding day, however, the bride had disappeared. Wasn't this a deliberate humiliation of Jayden? Driscoll felt sympathy for him and offered some consolation, "Sir, perhaps it's for the best that she left. It seems you might have found the right person after all." Elyse had shown no concern for Jayden's disability and was willing to marry him. That indeed counted for something. Chapter 3 He Could Walk Fluidly Looking at Jayden's legs, Elyse felt a wave of sympathy for him. Jayden had once been at the pinnacle of success, and now he seemed so vulnerable. Just because he was disabled, his bride had callously abandoned him at the altar, showing him no respect whatsoever. He must have felt even more devastated than she did during the wedding. Approaching Jayden, Elyse took his hand and said earnestly, "Don't worry. We are husband and wife now. I will take care of you for the rest of our lives." Jayden's expression turned rigid. Could she really mean it, promising to take care of him for a lifetime? He doubted her sincerity, thinking she was just putting on an act of compassion. Without a word, Jayden maneuvered his wheelchair into the study on the first floor. "I'm sorry," Driscoll said apologetically. "Since his accident, he's been a bit more temperamental." "It's fine. I understand," Elyse replied, dismissing it with a wave of her hand. Anyone in his situation might change. She then followed Driscoll upstairs to a room on the second floor. -- "Sir." In the study stood a bald man named Vinny Bailey, clad in a tight black shirt that accentuated his prominent tendons. Respectfully, Vinny ignited a lighter and lit a cigar for Jayden. "Joanna has gone abroad. The Foster family is desperately trying to come up with a solution." "They've taken thirty million and five major projects from me. Is this their way of repaying me?" Jayden let out a puff of smoke and remarked casually, "If I don't teach them a lesson, others will see me as a pushover. The Fosters need to learn a few things." "Do you want us to bring Joanna back?" Vinny inquired, nodding. "And as for your new wife, should we make some introductions with our men?" "No need." Jayden, cigar clenched between his teeth, lifted a document from the desk and strolled over to the window. The wheelchair was tucked away in a corner of the room, ignored, as he moved fluidly across the floor. This document detailed Elyse's entire life, from her childhood through to her college life, even including her romance with Theo. He casually flipped through the pages and drawled, "An ordinary woman. She married me just for my money." Back then, the Owens had declared their search for a wife for Jayden, aiming simply to secure an heir. Upon the announcement, no wealthy family was eager to marry their daughter to him, except for the Fosters, who had enriched themselves through their daughters' marriage. The Fosters' motive was straightforward--to exchange their daughter for resources and money. Vinny saw no other reason for Elyse to marry Jayden but for financial gain. Yet, there was another twist. "She was originally going to marry Theo Ward." "Ward? The Ward family that's well-known?" Jayden lifted an eyebrow. "Yes. But apparently, the groom ran off to reunite with his ex-girlfriend after receiving a phone call." Vinny paused, then speculated, "Maybe she married you just to spite Theo Ward." Jayden ceased perusing the documents and glanced up at Vinny with a hint of annoyance. "You're looking at it too simplistically. By marrying me, she stands to gain more. That's the real reason she married me, despite my disability." In Jayden's eyes, Elyse hadn't yet revealed her true intentions. But he didn't mind her interest in his money. He needed a wife to appease his family. If she married him for gain, it would make a future divorce simpler for him. -- Perched on the edge of the bed, Elysee scrolled through her phone and noticed the trending topics. #Bridegroom Ran Away For His Ex #Bride Marries Stranger To Anger Her Ranaway Groom She casually scrolled through the comments. The public deemed the entire situation unbelievable and both parties' actions as unreasonable. Nevertheless, discussions had thrust Elyse's name into circulation because of it. Some even discovered she was a violinist in an orchestra and stumbled upon a video of her past performance. Unable to resist, Elyse was watching these videos when Theo called. "Where are you, Elyse? Let's meet and talk." Chapter 4 Who Were You Married To? As Elyse descended the stairs to the villa's entrance, Driscoll approached her with concern. "It's quite late. Where are you off to? Shall I arrange a car for you?" "No, thanks. I'll be back soon." Driscoll watched her depart before heading to the study. Elyse, having agreed to meet Theo, called a taxi and was soon en route. Fifteen minutes later, she entered a coffee shop and instantly noticed Theo, who was in high spirits, busy texting on his phone. A flicker of sarcasm crossed her eyes as she approached and sat across from him. Theo looked up, his expression souring. "Why are you so late? Do you have any idea how long I've been waiting?" Staring back at him, Elyse felt a chill. They had been together for a long time, yet he was always domineering toward her, a stark contrast to his demeanor with Kaelyn. She had once loved him, believing she could endure anything. Only today had she realized how foolish that was. If she didn't love herself, how could she expect anyone else to love her? "If you don't want to wait, you can leave," Elyse retorted icily. Theo, taken aback by her response, grew visibly more upset. "You're holding a grudge about what happened at the wedding, aren't you? I get why you're upset, but you can't be more understanding and reasonable? I left because Kaelyn was in dire straits--she was depressed and contemplating suicide." "You can go to anyone you want. You don't need to explain anything to me--I don't care anymore." Elyse found humor in his words. Theo couldn't believe she was indifferent. They had been together for three years, and everyone knew how deeply she loved him. He thought her claim of indifference was merely a result of anger. But he was confident he could easily resolve this. Just a few sweet words and she'd come back to him. "It's not a big deal. I came back to you after handling everything, didn't I? I'll visit your parents soon, and we can start planning the wedding again," Theo said. "No need for that." "What?" "There won't be a wedding." Elyse's face was devoid of emotion. "We're done." "Why are you still upset? I left at the wedding, but I came back for you. Can't you forgive me?" Theo frowned. "Forgive you? Forgive you for abandoning me for another woman?" Elyse slammed her hand on the table. "Do you have any idea what I've been through since you left? Your family has been calling me names, even though you were the one who left me at the altar--just for another woman!" "Elyse Lloyd!" Theo shouted her name furiously. "What others say is their issue. Isn't our three-year relationship strong enough for you to trust me?" "Three years, and yet you never forgot your ex," Elyse countered, her face marked by disappointment. "I believed we'd be together forever, but it seems three years was our limit. We're done, Theo. It's clear we're not suited for each other." While speaking, she retrieved a ring from her bag and set it down on the table--the same ring he had used to propose. She recalled the joy she felt that day, now overshadowed by her current despair. Elyse gave Theo one last look, mentally closing the chapter on their three years together. She grabbed her bag and departed without a backward glance. Theo was stunned. Was Elyse dumping him? He always saw her as a simp, her family reliant on his. How could she just walk away? Humiliated, he chased after her, grabbed her shoulder, and said forcefully, "You have no right to break things off! Remember, your father's business relies on me. Without me, your family has nothing. Come back, and we'll marry in a few days to make up for today!" "Let me go!" Elyse fought back fiercely and yelled with defiance and frustration, "I'm married. Stop bothering me!" "So what if you are married! You will always belong to me." After blurting that out, he froze and asked incredulously, "What did you say? You're married? Who to?" While he was momentarily dazed, Elyse wriggled free from his grip. She hadn't anticipated turning around to find Jayden sitting in a wheelchair quietly a few meters behind her. "Jayden!" she exclaimed. Chapter 5 You Can Stand? "Didn't I make it clear? I'm married. We're over. This is my husband," Elyse said as she quickly moved to Jayden's side, gripping his arm. Theo stared at Jayden, failing to recognize him. With a sneer, he said, "To get back at me, you married a disabled man?" He then extended his hand, commanding in a domineering tone, "Elyse, come here! I'll make it up to you when we get back." But Elyse looked at him as if he were a stranger. "Did you hear me? Come here!" Theo grew frustrated. Elyse reflected on how she would have responded in the past--she would definitely walk over to his side. She had loved him deeply for three years. Her feelings had been genuine. Yet, the depth of her affection made the betrayal harder to bear. On her first birthday after they got together, she wanted to celebrate it by the sea. To make her happy, Theo bought a camera, promising to capture beautiful photos of her. As they were about to board the plane for their trip to the seaside, Kaelyn was injured on a film set and called Theo. Without any hesitation, Theo left her stranded at the airport. It was the most disappointing birthday Elyse had ever experienced. Theo had once vowed to attend her debut performance with her orchestra, yet she ended up not seeing him there. She lingered in the hall all night, only to learn the next day that he had missed the performance because Kaelyn had become drunk at a dinner party while trying to land a role. He stayed because he was worried she might be taken advantage of. For three years, he had been Kaelyn's protector, but he had never offered Elyse the same safeguard. This accumulation of disappointments came to a head at the wedding. She knew she deserved love and respect, not neglect. "I am Jayden's wife now. I owe my loyalty to him," declared Elyse with a chill in her voice. "Elyse Lloyd!" Theo roared, enraged. He thought Elyse was merely being spiteful and fabricating things due to the day's incidents. As he tried to seize her hand, Jayden intervened, blocking him swiftly. Theo struggled to free his hand, but was unable to. He couldn't overpower a disabled man? The realization pissedhim off. "Release me!" Theo exploded with anger. "She has no desire to leave with you. Can't you understand?" Jayden pressed slowly, his force causing Theo's features to twist in distress. Jayden held on until Theo cried out in pain before releasing him. "Remember this day, Elyse. You'll regret it in the future!" With a hint of embarrassment, Theo glared at Elyse and stormed off after his declaration. Watching him leave, Elyse felt a bitter smile form within her. She knew Theo would not easily let go of being humiliated, but there was no turning back for them now. "Let's go home, Elyse." "Okay." After helping Jayden into the car, they both sat silently, gazing out the window and avoiding any mention of Theo. "How did you know I was out here?" Elyse asked, her curiosity piqued. Without turning to face her, Jayden replied, "Driscoll mentioned it wasn't safe for you to be alone at this hour, so I came to pick you up." In truth, he had suspected she was up to something secretive, but it turned out she was merely meeting her ex. This revelation left him slightly disappointed. "Since you've married me, you should sever ties with your ex. My family members are strict, and I can't cover for you if they find out you're still seeing another man." "I won't see him again. I met him just to return a ring," Elyse responded, nodding. Jayden said nothing more. As long as Elyse respected his boundaries, she was free to make her own choices. When they arrived home, Elyse noticed Jayden heading straight for the study again. Curious, she asked Driscoll, "Why is he always in the study?" "The study is not only his workplace, but it has also become a sanctuary for his soul," Driscoll explained. "And why doesn't he return to his room?" "He does sometimes, but we rarely know when. He prefers that we don't fuss over him too much." With that, Driscoll departed. After freshening up in her room, Elyse was preparing for bed, but her thoughts lingered on the day's events with Jayden. She realized that despite his reserved nature, he was genuinely concerned for her safety. Feeling grateful and wanting to express her thanks, she left her room and walked towards the study. As she approached, she noticed the door was slightly ajar, casting a sliver of light into the hallway. Elyse pushed the door open and to her surprise, saw Jayden standing. She gasped and asked, "Jayden, you can stand?" ==== "You need a bride, I need a groom. Why don't we get married?" Both abandoned at the altar, Elyse decided to tie the knot with the disabled stranger from the venue next door. Pitying his state, she vowed to spoil him once they were married. Little did she know that he was actually a powerful and healthy tycoon. Was Jayden's fake disability revealed just like that? What happens next? Yes | 2024-10-19 05:54 | active | 1657 | 0 | Her groom ran away from wedding to pursue his first love. Where is his bride?" The public deemed the entire situation unbelievable and both parties' actions as unreasonable.
