I was used to skimming extra doses off of my prescription Xanax for Clara, and I'd set aside several in anticipation of tomorrow night.<br /> We were going to party, get high and have a sleepover at Clara's house.<br /> Or, at least they were.<br /> I was going to wait until they passed out to go bang Clara's dad.<br /> ….<br /> Clara's house was a mammoth monument to upper-middle-class tastelessness.<br /> Located in the darkest, most white-bread heart of the suburbs, the two-story, finished-basement paean to pretension was Clara's father's half of the marital assets, sundered after a nasty divorce.<br /> But, for all intents and purposes, the house was Clara's alone.<br /> Her father, George, spent most of his time away on business, and had for years. This fact not only drove his wife into the arms of the contractor who'd renovated the kitchen, but also made him an enigmatic and fascinating figure to me.<br /> In all the time I'd known Clara, I could count on one hand the number of words I'd said to her father.<br /> But, oh, did he make an impression...<br /> I looked at him now, his broad back to me as he rinsed dishes in the kitchen sink. I let my gaze trail lower, admiring the way his torso tapered down to his waist and the firm roundness of his buttocks.<br /> "Hey, Dad!" Clara called as I closed the door behind us.<br /> "Hi, Pumpkin!" He turned, and I got a glimpse of his rich, brown eyes and sharp, stubbled jawline. "How was school?"<br /> "Good. Got an A on that Calculus test."<br /> She hadn't – she'd gotten a D- and an admonition to come in next week for a retake.<br /> Not that I was going to correct her.<br /> His full lips curved with pride, "Great job, honey!" Noticing us, he nodded, "Hi, girls."<br /> Sierra and I chorused, "Hi, Mr. Coleman."<br /> "So," his attention turned back to Clara, "What have you three got planned for tonight?"<br /> Clara answered, "Well, there's this pizza place that just opened downtown, so we're going to go give that a try and then catch the new Marvel movie."<br /> Total lie. We were headed out to Scott's place for a party.<br /> "Who's driving?"<br /> "We're getting an Uber – I hate parking Downtown."<br /> That much was true – we were getting an Uber. But, we were also planning on getting totally blitzed – and even Clara wasn't irresponsible enough to drive like that.<br /> "When do you think you'll be back?"<br /> "Well, the movie gets out at ten, so maybe ten-thirty?"<br /> Another lie. If we stepped foot in the house before midnight, I'd be shocked.<br /> "Okay. Call me if you're going to be late?"<br /> "Of course!" Clara giggled, before turning away to lead us upstairs to her bedroom.<br /> When her door closed behind us, Clara dropped the perfect daughter act and launched into a detailed rant about how much better it was at her mom and stepfather's house, and how she'd move in with them full time if it wasn't so far away from our school.<br /> I listened, looking rapt while Sierra stepped into her bathroom to change out of her school clothes into her party outfit.<br /> "-like, my bedroom in their house is almost three times as big as this one. I swear to God, I'm totally moving in with them after graduation."<br /> I nodded like I cared. In the back of my mind though, I thought about the handful of times I'd met her stepfather. I couldn't explain it, but he'd left me deeply creeped out. Something about the slimy feel of his eyes had me convinced that if Clara did move in, she'd have to start sleeping with the door locked.<br /> But that was her business, not mine.<br /> I was the last to go in the bathroom to change, and the instant I closed the door behind me, it started.<br /> "...Tyler's saying he's got a new hookup for xannies."<br /> "For real?"<br /> "His brother's at college now and he knows a guy."<br /> "Thank Christ..."<br /> "Right? Like, I know she makes us look smarter by comparison, but there's only so much I can take-"<br /> I tuned them out. It was a true testament to their lack of self-awareness that they didn't know how loud they were.<br /> Undressing, I paused when the last scrap of clothing hit the tile floor. Sierra was currently in a similar state in the backseat of the Uber and getting her settled would probably take even longer.<br /> When both were incapacitated on Clara's bed, I stared down at them with a smirk.<br /> Then, taking my bag with me, I walked into the bathroom, shutting the door behind me.<br /> With the mix of pills and liquor in their systems, they'd be out for hours.<br /> More than enough time for what I had planned.<br /> Inside, I stripped, tossing aside my party clothes, pungent now with the reek of smoke and spilled liquor.<br /> If they smell, then I smell...<br /> Opening the linen closet, I pulled out a fresh towel and hung it over the shower rod.<br /> Under the steamy spray, I washed away the sweat and the stench of the day. I wanted to be fresh and clean when I let George Coleman defile me.<br /> Humming to myself, I stepped out, drying off before slipping on a nightgown that was a little too lacy for a simple girls' sleepover.<br /> The baby pink satin slid down my skin until the hem brushed against my mid-thigh.<br /> Catching sight of myself in the foggy mirror, I looked into my own eyes, knowing that this was the point of no return, wondering if I had the guts to actually go through with it.<br /> Then a slow trickle became a flood as I remembered all the slights, the cuts and bruises to my ego that I'd had to endure, that I would have to endure to survive the rest of high school.<br /> I remembered betrayal, and the white-hot rage it left in its wake.<br /> Fluffing my drying hair, I smiled at my reflection. At eighteen, I had the kind of body and face that men couldn't seem to resist, and coupled with the will and desire to make Clara pay, Daddy Dearest didn't stand a chance...<br /> Downstairs, I made my way silently across the low pile carpet. In the darkness, the distant glow of the sodium streetlights made the shadows lengthen, turning the familiar first floor into an alien landscape.<br /> My destination was the master suite, a set of rooms I'd only been inside once, but remembered vividly.<br /> Clara and I had snuck in while her mother was busy making dinner. "Get out of my room, Kelly."<br /> "Hey now," I scolded, "at least hear me out."<br /> He said nothing, keeping his hold on my wrist.<br /> Scrambling, I said, "We could help each other..."<br /> "No, we absolutely cannot."<br /> "Wait-" This was going sideways fast.<br /> "Goodnight, Kelly."<br /> "Look," I blurted, going for 'bold', "have you ever banged high-school boys or college guys?"<br /> George cocked an eyebrow. "Can't say that I have."<br /> "I don't recommend it. High school boys have no clue how to please a woman, and college guys are too selfish to care." I paused, licking my lips nervously. "The closest I've come to a partnered climax is with my vibrator, and I'm goddamned sick of it."<br /> George's dark eyes smoldered. "That sounds like a personal problem."<br /> "Maybe," I admitted. Pulling my wrist out of his grip, I sat on the bed and leaned closer to him, letting the bodice of my nightgown tighten against my breasts.<br /> "Look, I might be young, but I'm not naïve – my friendship with Clara has an expiration date, and it's coming up fast. We're going to grow apart in college, and after this summer, you will probably never have to see me again."<br /> "So," I brought my hand up to smooth down a sleep-tousled lock of his hair, "again, why not? I'll get some good shaft for once, you'll get some no-strings-attached private part, and in a couple months we part ways with no one the wiser."<br /> "Clara-" The moment of uncertainty in his eyes was all I needed to spur me on.<br /> "-will never have to know. Seriously, I don't want her to find out about this any more than you do." All I really wanted was the secret satisfaction of knowing what I'd done behind her back. There'd be some nuclear fallout if she ever found out the truth.<br /> Leaning over him, I let my hair slip off of my shoulder and brush against his chest. "Look, you could say no. You could send me back upstairs, and tomorrow both of us could pretend that this never happened."<br /> "Or," I began, climbing atop the bed to straddle him, "You could spend the next five months banging me raw."<br /> His Adam's apple bobbed as he swallowed, and I saw his self-control teetering on a knife's edge.<br /> Reaching down, I gripped the hem of my nightgown and pulled it over my head, tossing it aside.<br /> My eyes watched him as he took in the shadowed curves of my body.<br /> Smiling wickedly, I drew my hands up to my chest, tweaking my papillae as I pressed my breasts together with my arms.<br /> Then, letting one hand trail down the soft skin of my abdomen, I slipped my fingers between my legs and rubbed the rigid, wet nub that ached with need.<br /> I closed my eyes as the first sweet sparks of pleasure lit up my nerve endings.<br /> When I felt my breath coming in deep, steady pants, I looked down at George to find his dark eyes on mine. I have never seen a track crew go above and beyond for a race like they did for us this weekend.
