Dear Friend,<br /> <br /> It is with great excitement and a grateful heart that I introduce to you my new six-week online course THE ALCHEMY OF SURRENDER, designed to guide you into the alchemical magic of meditation and the transformative power of surrendering to the ‘mess of the moment’. We’ll take the “worthless” base metals of our wounding and trauma – our pain, our fear, our doubts, our shameful parts – and, through love, through mindfulness, through deep compassion, “alchemise” them into the “gold” of awakened self-love.<br /> <br /> A COURSE THAT EMERGED FROM MY OWN JOURNEY OF SURRENDER…<br /> <br /> This is my first 6-week course in four years. So much LIFE has happened to me in those four years… I turned 40. I nearly died of neurological Lyme disease. I recovered. I got married… and last year, I became a father for the first time. So many new insights and reflections have been brewing within me over this time, and I can’t wait to share them with you all. <br /> <br /> The title “The Alchemy of Surrender” was inspired by my own life experiences but also by a recent conversation with a friend, and I’m sure many of you will be able to relate to her struggle: She had spent years doing everything she could to try and ‘fix’ herself. She’d read endless spiritual and self-help books, watched countless YouTube videos, attended wellness retreats, therapy sessions, done all kinds of spiritual practices, breathing techniques, yoga sessions, energy healings, tried positive thinking. She was exhausted – from the seeking, the endless “working on herself”.<br /> <br /> When would the struggle bear fruit? When would her pain go away? How much more “self-improvement” did she need to do? Where was this elusive thing called… “inner peace”? <br /> <br /> Exhausted, hitting rock bottom, on the verge of giving up completely, she suddenly found herself letting go, and remembering an ancient teaching of deep trust, self-acceptance and surrender:<br /> <br /> “This grief and ache I’m feeling is not actually a block to freedom. It’s a portal, a doorway…. so I need to TRUST IT COMPLETELY…”<br /> <br /> She finally allowed herself to fully experience and trust her anxiety, her restlessness, the tension in her body, instead of running away from it or trying to numb it away through her usual addictions, distractions and general busyness. She began to work with it, and started to treat it as intelligent, a dear friend, an ally on the path trying to help her change her life, rather than something working against her, or something that she had to “get rid of”. Drenched in love and understanding, held in kindly Awareness, seen as a friend rather than an enemy, her pain transformed, “alchemically”…. <br /> <br /> “I am okay, exactly as I am, in this present moment…”<br /> <br /> She wept with relief as she remembered a deep sense of okayness and Oneness, right where she was sitting. She remembered to breathe, feel her feet on the ground, come out of her head, take one moment at a time. She felt at home in the Now again.
