Body | In the aftermath of a car accident, my hip extension was severely compromised ⬇️ READ & SHARE WITH YOUR BUDDY 😊<br /> <br /> 📋 I had 3 herniated discs, nerve damage in multiple locations & muscle atrophy that actually caused me to go from bad to worse for quite some time. Hip extension was one of the most obvious losses early on. My knee pain was quick to follow…🫠🫣<br /> <br /> Hip extension is pivotal for optimal body mechanics and performance, enabling activities like running & jumping🏃♀️ <br /> <br /> There was a time when walking was close to impossible 😰<br /> <br /> When inhibited, hip extension limitations can cause more tugging sensations & pain in the low back…made even worse with inevitable sitting 😭<br /> <br /> In order to work on my hip extension, I took a multi-faceted approach:<br /> <br /> - Full body joint assessment 📐 <br /> <br /> - Full body functional movement screen 📋<br /> <br /> - Gradual application of mobility methods like myofascial release, end range & full range exercises (all very slowly)🐌<br /> <br /> - Focus on hip rotation as well as hip extension & abduction. <br /> <br /> *took multiple courses in this time to learn all this 🎓<br /> <br /> Knee flexion like that used in a sissy squat was not realistic for me at first, my knees had their own issues & this got so bad after muscle atrophy from my car accident that the sissy squat seemed not possible for me. Ever. 😅<br /> <br /> Here I am demonstrating my SISSY SQUAT journey👇 <br /> <br /> 📝 The sissy squat is not sissy. It’s thought the name is in homage of Sisyphus of Greek Mythology. You may know the story?
