💭 Did You Know… that the LCHS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit?!
With humble beginnings on Jan 26, 1907, the LaSalle County Historical Society has gone from a simple idea to a 4 building museum campus in Utica! Our goal was and remains to discover, collect, and preserve, the rich history of LaSalle County and her people.

Through the tireless work of volunteers and a small staff, the LCHS continues to preserve and share the legacy of those who came before us and shaped our area into what we know today.
The Museum Campus is home to many artifacts of indescribable historical value, including the recently rediscovered Ebersol diaries which tell the life of once local abolitionist, Amos Ebersol, and his contributions to the Underground Railroad. Our Heritage Center houses an extensive collection of materials pertaining to the Radium Girls of Ottawa, including clocks, newspapers, personal letters, and cassette tapes containing interviews with the women who worked with radium (conducted by Catherine Quigg).
On campus you can see displays on Sesame Street’s Bob McGrath, Al Capone’s liquor making, parts of Charles Lindbergh’s plane, uniforms for the U.S. Armed Forces (from all eras), a Gatling gun, civil war artifacts, Victorian mourning art, a tea set and carriage used by Abraham Lincoln, a daguerreotype of Chief Shabonna, and so many other items! We even have a research library open to the public!

All of the work conducted by the LCHS, and our ability to have free museum admission, is made possible by the generous donations of our supporters. Whether it be a one off donation while visiting our museums, or a yearly membership, every little bit helps us to discover, collect, and preserve our area’s richly unique history 💚

#lasallecountyhistoricalsociety #nonprofitmuseum #historicalsociety #uticaillinois #vintageclocks #vintageuniforms #HeritageCorridor #westclox #nonprofit #radiumgirls #gatlinggun #abrahamlincoln
