| Body | ✨️READ BELOW ⬇️<br /> <br /> When I started doing nails, I was self taught and didn't know anyone that was in this industry. I did alot of trial & error & have learned soo much along the way. Here's some mistakes I learned from:<br /> <br /> 1️⃣ WASTING MONEY<br /> In the beginning, I wasted alot of money on color acrylics & products at stores like Sally Beauty. Unless you offer acrylic only services, most designs are or can be handpainted. I hardly use them and outside of clear, all you need is atleast 5 good cover acrylics. You can always mix them for a specific color if needed. <br /> Buying in bulk saves soo much money. For example, monomer will be $45 in Sally Beauty & last maybe a month, while a gallon is $95 & can last 6-10 months.<br /> <br /> 2️⃣ NOT STANDING ON BUSINESS <br /> I found it difficult to enforce my policies the first 3-4yrs of doing nails. Eventually, I had no choice because I felt like people took advantage of my kindness or treated me like a kid. Once I stuck to my policies, using screenshots of my policies as support in handling situations, people respected me & my policies even more. This includes deposits, cancelations, late fees, etc. <br /> Do not let people run over you. You have policies for a reason & you can always make adjustments as you learn.<br /> <br /> 3️⃣ NOT CHARGING MY WORTH<br /> When you first start and you're learning, it's okay to have lower prices. If you use quality products, have quality/clean work, & your nails last, CHARGE YOUR WORTH. Other variables like demographics/location play a part, but don't cut yourself short. Don't change the price because you think the client won't pay that much. People pay for what they want and if a client doesn't want to pay, they are not your customer. <br /> Until the last 2yrs, I didn't feel like the amount of work I did equated to the quality services I provided. Save yourself the headache & charge your worth. You're worth it!!<br /> <br /> I hope this helps or encourages someone even if you're just thinking about starting a nail business.
