HOW TO BE SURE YOU’RE GOING TO HEAVEN<br /> Say you live a good long life and pass away peacefully in your sleep at the ripe old age of 100. Next thing you know you’re standing outside the pearly gates of heaven and God comes up to you and asks, “why should I let you in”? When I ask this question, most people answer, “because I’m a good person.” They are shocked when I tell them that is the wrong answer. The Bible tells us that salvation is a gift from God, and it cannot be earned by being a “good enough person.” If we could obtain it that way, we could brag when we got to heaven saying, “I’m here because of ME!” (Ephesians 2:8-9) But no one will be able to say, “I got to heaven because of me.” Its ALL about Jesus and what He did! <br /> <br /> One of Jesus’ names in the Bible is Immanuel, which means “God with us” (Matthew 1:23). Jesus is God in the flesh. He came to earth 2,000 years ago to take the blame and punishment for our sins by dying on the cross. Sin is anything we do wrong including (but not limited to) lying, steeling, cheating or doing anything that violates our God given conscious. The Bible says that we have ALL sinned (Romans 3:23). No one is perfect. The Bible also says that the price that we pay for sin is death (Romans 6:23 a). The Bible talks about two deaths. The first is the death we will all experience one day (hopefully not until we are a ripe old age). The second death is commonly referred to as hell or the lake of fire (Revelation 21:8). Because of sin we have been separated from a relationship with God and are doomed to hell for all eternity. <br /> <br /> The good news is, the free gift of God is eternal LIFE through Jesus Christ (Romans 6:23 b). Three days after Jesus died, He rose from the dead and conquered sin &amp; death! The Bible says that if you believe this message about Jesus and confess Him as your Lord you will be saved (Romans 10:9)! Instead of hell, you will go to heaven one day when you die, and you will enter into a relationship with God right now here on earth. If you are not sure where you are going when you die or if you are not sure if you have a relationship with God, I encourage you to pray this prayer.<br /> <br /> “Lord Jesus. I believe you’re the Son of God. I believe you died on the cross and took the blame and punishment for my sins. I believe that you rose from the dead three days later and conquered sin and death. Forgive me of my sins. Come into my life. Be my Lord and be my Savior. Make me into the person you created me to be. And help me to live for you all the days of my life.
