This exhibition features 15 watercolor and acrylic paintings by Oregon artist, Bets Cole. The series features Oregon landscapes from the shore to our high desert, including depictions of valleys in between.
As an exhibiting artist for over 30 years, Bets Cole has achieved success in selling and showing her artwork nationwide. Bets earned her undergraduate degree from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York and her Master of Fine Arts from the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon. She is known for her dramatic large-scale charcoal drawings and her colorful watercolor, acrylic and gouache paintings. Bets Cole currently paints full-time in the plein air tradition, traveling to locations throughout the United States and Europe.

The UCC Art Gallery is located in the Whipple Fine Arts Center. The 1,100 square foot space features six exhibits during the academic year. There is also the mezzanine gallery on the second floor of Whipple that features student art work on a continuous basis. Both galleries feature exhibits in a variety of media, including ceramics, drawing, painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture. The major purpose and function of the Art Gallery is to exhibit quality works of art for the education and cultural benefit of the students of UCC and the citizens of Douglas County. Admission is always free.
