Some duties will include providing direct care and support to individuals and assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and grooming. <br /> <br /> DSPs will administer medication as directed by healthcare professionals, assist with meal planning, preparation, and feeding, support individuals in participating in social and recreational activities, including accompanying individuals in the community and assisting with transportation needs. <br /> <br /> DSPs will assist to maintain a clean and safe living environment for individuals. Skills that a successful candidate will have include experience in senior care, assisted living, or special education instruction, ability to work with individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities, challenging behaviors, and strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with individuals of all kinds. <br /> <br /> This position requires a compassionate individual who is dedicated to providing high-quality care and support to individuals with disabilities or special needs. The successful candidate will have the ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when necessary. DSPs must also be able to adapt to changing situations and demonstrate patience, empathy, and understanding.<br /> <br /> DSP positions may involve working evenings, weekends, and holidays based on the needs of the individuals being supported. BHSSC is a 24/7 program. The base pay is $17.00 per hour with a $3.00 an hour evening differential and $4.00 an hour differential for weekend shift. Full time benefits.<br /> <br /> •Full-time Day Services (day/vocational) DSP in Sturgis area. Monday thru Friday. Pay is $17.00 per hour plus full-time benefits. Hours will vary depending on the position and include transportation duties.<br /> <br /> •Full-time Classroom DSP in Sturgis area. Monday thru Friday. Pay is $17.00 per hour plus full-time benefits. Hours are 7:30-3:30 and may include transportation duties.<br /> •Full-time Overnight DSP-evenings/weekend hours. The base pay is $17.00 per hour with a $ 3.00 an evening differential and $4.00 hour differential from 10p-6a.<br /> <br /> -Full time employees are eligible for an excellent benefit package, including individual health, dental and life insurance, Paid Personal Leave (PPL), and participation in the SD Retirement System. Employees pay approximately $30 per pay period for single benefits. Regularly scheduled part-time employees accrue PPL.<br /> Salary: Wage is $17.00 per hour to $21.00 to start, depending on the position/shift (hours worked) hired for.<br /> <br /> Qualifications:<br /> •High School diploma or GED,<br /> •Valid Driver’s License,<br /> •Ability to pass a background check,<br /> •Physical &amp; Clean Drug Screen,<br /> •Ability to lift 50 lbs.<br /> <br /> Black Hills Special Services Cooperative (BHSSC) is a public entity that is an educational cooperative under the State of South Dakota.
