Body | It is the end of the year, and we want to share what we have going on in our chapters and we are asking for help so we can do what we do. We want to also remind everyone that we are all volunteers, we do not have administrative overhead costs nor payroll. Also, we ask to please donate straight to our website, the link is on our wall. Facebook fundraisers take too long to make donations available and many of our dogs need medical now.

First, our dogs that are in need. The first picture is Yoda, we inquired with a rescue about needing a large dog to train for service, we were sent this picture and another along with the founder telling us how wonderful he was at her adoption event, chill and cuddly and left out that this was an old picture, that he was now missing an eye and was going blind in the other. He also needs to be fixed. The long and short of it is our veteran who went to meet Yoda at the owner's house rehoming him could not leave him where he was, and Yoda needs help now. Yoda has to get a blood test to see if he is healthy enough to fix, which is around $200 and if he is, a neuter for a large dog is around $500. We also need to get him to an eye specialist, we have to do it as soon as possible because he has cataracts and if there is any hope in saving what eyesight he has in his remaining eye, we need to know now. The initial exam for a specialist will be between 300 and 350, if he qualifies for surgery, it will be in the thousands.

Next is Titan, if you look at our prior posts, we came to the aid of an airman and his family, the post goes into more detail. He is not fixed or microchipped, we also got a surprise when committing to take Titan, he has a little buddy who was a stray that walked in the airman's family's apartment one day, he and Titan have been best buddies since. Like Titan, if Pepe did not find somewhere to go by the end of December, he would end up at The Animal Foundation. Pepe loves kids, toddlers, cats, and other dogs, we had to take him too. He also needs to be fixed, as you can see in his picture, he also needs to be microchipped. To get them their full veterinarian visit it will be just shy of $1000.00. Titan has a veteran eager to meet him, and Pepe will be easy to train and place for service as well.

The next pictures are of Honey a quarter horse and Tinkerbell, who is a mini horse, that we are getting for our horse therapy program in our PA Chapter. They both have grown up with children and love them. We wanted to get the horses not only to help the veterans that currently own them that are older and cannot keep up with the work it takes having them, but to also start a program where veterans, law enforcement, and first responders can come and enjoy the healing horses can give and bring their children to also enjoy petting, brushing, and spending time with a horse their size. We have an existing barn, but it needs to be rebuilt to accommodate the two of them, we also need to build a horse fence.
Also, in our PA chapter, we have an existing building on our land that needs to be rebuilt so we can house several rescue dogs to train so we can meet the applications we are getting in Pennsylvania and West Virginia from veterans who qualify for service dogs. I personally paid $5600 to build out the fencing around the existing building, we need help to do the rest.

In our Nevada chapter, we have a lot of service dogs and get applications for more service dogs, that means more dogs we can assess and pull from the Animal Foundation, as we did with Alina and Kali and the many dogs before them who were at kill shelters. I have posted about the new Liberty Dogs Org, in Northern Nevada that will not be open for two more years that will breed dogs, and they are syphoning a majority of the funding in Nevada, it is hurting orgs like ours that actually put in the work and have done so for well over a decade.

I also personally pay for my trips to Las Vegas, like this recent one to work with our new rescues and test our teams there. I also cover food and training gear and other emergencies that come up that the program cannot cover. I am getting ready to graduate after earning my counseling degree, which means my money that I use to cover the program needs is going to have to go to paying on my student loan. That is going to have a major impact on the Las Vegas Chapter. We need all the help we can get.

Lastly, which is not as important as the rest, but the past 12 years my old Chevy, now with 230 thousand miles, has gotten me across Nevada taking care of that chapter, and now around our Southwestern PA chapter, it would be wonderful to have a dependable vehicle to get around for training and to transport and pick up dogs, if anyone knows of a dealership or auto car sales that can use a write off, that would be heaven sent.

As I mentioned above, we are not running a fundraiser through Facebook, it takes too long to get the funds and our dogs need help now. We have a donate button on our website which the link is provided on our page. If you want to donate to a specific dog or need, or general funding, please type it in the message box, the funds will be allocated for that, you will also receive an automatic receipt from us for your donation. I will keep everyone updated on what donations came through and as we get the surgeries and appointments done, along with our regular updates.

We are grateful to everyone who has and currently supports us, and we thank everyone who chooses to contribute to us again. |
