Body | UPDATE! Our 81 year old Hero read all your comments today which made her smile. I don't think she was smiling for herself but for the cats and people supporting TNR, it made her happy. Her daughter even read the story and comments then said, "That's my mom!" I could tell how proud she was of her mother too!
Great people make TNR so thank to YOU ALL!!

Get ready for a great story with a new beginning and a happy ending that happened this week.
I was eating lunch at home one day when a woman knocked on my door. With a mouthful I went to the door to answer.
This woman asked me if I this was Lampasas Community Cats-TNR and all I could do is nod. She said she had 14 cats needing TNR'ED and she would do whatever it took to have it done. I told her I would call her tomorrow as I had to get to bed for work that night and had already stayed up too long.
I called the next morning to get her information and told her she was on the list now but it would take me about a month before I could get her cats in because I had others waiting too. This woman told me she had warned all her neighborhood not to hurt the cats because they provided a service to her and them by keeping snakes and rodents away and they deserved protection and good health.
I scheduled her appointments and she even agreed to trap them and transport them herself if I would teach her how to trap which I said of course so the lesson began!
This woman is 81 years young and not wealthy either but her determination was the greatest!
She fed the cats for entire week with the traps tied open training the cats to go in and out for their food with no help from anyone. Then trapping day arrived and her grandson came to spend the day and night with her which was a blessing but I had no doubt she would do it herself even if he didn't offer. Her grandson was following her lead. On that trapping day they trapped 14 cats and made them comfortable in her garage until the next day when they loaded them up in her rental van for their appointments then drove them an hour way to reach the clinic. This great woman told me she had never driven a large van like this but being a veteran soldier that drove a duce an half vehicle for the Army she was sure she could do it! I never doubted her for a second.
Mission Completed!
Never doubt a senior citizen who is a vet and a woman with determination who has pledged to keep cats safe and to give them a better life through TNR for cats she can't even hold because they are true feral cats that are loved!
This speaks volumes on how important feral cats are to their caretakers and a woman with her courage!
This woman made a special place in my heart this week and for a lifetime! |
