My husband,Brian's last text to his mistress was 2 hours ago.
He wrote "I really wish I was with you instead of this wedding right now."
His mistress then replies with "Me too babe."
2 minutes later and then "I miss you when you're not here."
Who is his mistress, the woman who destroyed my family?
My thumb races up through the text threat.
Then I see the answer. It's his co worker, Monica.
She's shirtless, smiling seductively at the camera. Showcasing her boobs by pinching one of her papilla between her fingers.
I read his reply to it out of curiosity and that's when my heart shatters into a million pieces.
"Those titties can't even compete with my wife's. I hope you know all I do is envision it's you I'm fu-cking instead."

Well today is Trent and Cassidy's wedding, I was one of her bridesmaids and it was a beautiful ceremony as expected. She's grown to be one of my closest friends over the last year. Trent works with Brian, one of his best cops. He's always been the wild one, new girlfriend every couple weeks type. When him and Cassidy first went out they had a terrible date and hated each from there on out. Fast forward a couple months they told all of us they were pregnant. It was shocking to say the least. I guess they hooked up a few times and had a little whoopsie. Although Weston, their not even 1 year old is the farthest thing from an accident. He is the cutest little boy. You don't want to be around him if you're not willing to catch baby fever. He's contagious.
I wanted another baby after Audra so we tried and got pregnant when she was a year old. Sadly, I lost that baby at 20 weeks. After that, Brian said no more. It still hurts, I still wish I could've at least tried to fill the void with another baby but he wasn't willing to go through it again. Sometimes I think he's more scarred from that whole experience than even I am, the mother.
It's about 7:45pm when they start to do speeches. Just the best man, Jason and maid of honor, Kristen had to write something. Of course she had everyone in tears talking about Cassidy and her rough yet powerful upbringing. Now it's Jason's turn and I think he'll be able to turn a lot of the tears into smiles.
"I'm Jason. Trent's best man. I'm gonna start off by just letting you Trent and everyone else know that they don't have to worry...I'm not knocking my girl up at your wedding but it's totally fine that you did at mine." Jason says and everyone busts a gut laughing. I look at Cassidy, her cheeks match her lipstick. She covers her face trying to hide all while still laughing through it.
"Sorry Cass. You know I love ya. Anyway, Kristen and I would also like to take some credit for getting these two together. But not the first time. Trent screwed that up. We take no credit for that mess." Jason says and pauses for the laughter. "Alright alright. I'm done being the funny guy. Trent. I'm so happy for you man, Cassidy, you too. You guys make a great team, great parents, and great friends. Congratulations. Cheers to the new Mr and Mrs Turner." He says and raises his beer, everyone claps and carries on.
Afterwards they open the dance floor up, the entire wedding party gets up to dance and have fun. They play a couple upbeat ones and then a slow one. I decide to sit down and have a drink at the table though. Brian's not really one for dancing and I respect that. Besides I don't even know where he is right now.
Everyone's having so much fun. Kristen, Cassidy, and a couple other girls are dancing. After I finish this drink I'm going back out there with them. They make me feel young again.
I scan the floor stop when I see Brian talking to Trent and Zach. His two best cops and friends. They're off to the side of the dance floor talking. The exchange looks a little heated. I continue to stare, trying to make out what it's about. Are they being funny? No, no they're arguing. It looks like it's 2 against 1. Brian being the 1. That's odd.
"What was that about?" I ask him when he comes back to our table, his eyes say it all. He's pissed about something.
"Nothing. You ready to go?" He takes the last swig of his beer and sets it on the table.
"What? It's like 8..."
"Yeah well I'm tired so let's go." He grabs his coat jacket and puts it on. I stand and get closer to try and talk to him.
"Brian. Stop. What's wrong?"
"Nothing! I wanna go, c'mon." He grabs my wrist but I pull back. He's never been this hostile towards me. If I'm being honest it's a little scary.
"I'm not leaving. You can!" I argue. I have no idea what came over me, I never pick a fight in public. I hate fighting and confrontation. I watch him get closer to me trying not to make a scene.
"I'm not leaving without you. Let's go." He's got his dad voice out now and I'm so confused at why he's being like this. He only had 2 beers and I think one shot. He usually gets like this when he has more to drink but he hasn't.
"Dude. Maybe you should just go wait in the car until she's ready. Don't cause a scene." Zach says coming up behind him. I'm relieved, at least someone saw how he was being towards me.
"Stay out of it."
"No."
-
"No? Did you just tell me no?" Brian gets defensive. Zach doesn't flinch, they stare each other down. I have no clue what's going on, I'm actually completely speechless because I'm so confused.
"Yup." Zach tells Brian and I tense up.
"Woah woah woah. Hey. Stop it." I try to deescalate them both with my words. Brian's gonna punch him. I know it. I don't think I've ever seen anger in his eyes this bad.
"Brian. Don't even think about doing this here. I want you to walk out of here right now while you still have your dignity." Trent intervenes out of nowhere. Now I feel like I'm the only one completely missing out on the issue. It must be work related? Brian looks at me and then walks away without another word.
"24 hours dude. You got 24 hours or we do it." Trent yells at him while Brian walks out of the venue. No one else saw any of that, everyone's still dancing and drinking.
"Someone tell me what was about." I say looking at them both. They look at each other first. I swear they talk through facial expressions and looks.
"We can't. You need to hear it from him. We're sorry. Truly. But...this is on him." Trent says and pats Zach's back for him to follow him away from me. The look on Zach's face before following him turns my stomach. Something's wrong, like big time and I need to find out what it is.
"Cass, hey. I'm sorry but I gotta go, forgive me please?" I'm sweating talking to her cause I don't want her to be upset I'm leaving so early.
"Oh my gosh you're good, thank you for everything you did for us!" She says understanding and we hug. Shes a tight hugger and I always appreciate them. Now to go deal with Brian and whatever is going on. I go get my purse and make my way out to the parking lot. My stomach is in knots as I get closer to where we parked. I look around and can't seem to find his truck. I look out towards the exit of the lot and see him leaving! He's leaving me here?! I quick get my phone out and tell him to come back and get me but he doesn't answer. I'm utterly confused.
"Nicole." Kristen calls out. I turn around and see her approaching me.
"Do you know what's going on? The guys won't tell me and Brian just left me here."
"What? I know nothing!? Jason hasn't said anything."
"I don't know if he'd know. Whatever is going on Trent and Zach are in on but they won't tell me."
"Why not?"
"I don't know. They said Brian has to tell me."
"Oh? I have no idea. Swear."
"He didn't answer my call. I watched him leave the parking lot."
"Did he forget his phone maybe?" She suggests and encourages me to come back inside with a hand on my back.
"Maybe he left it actually." I say with the intention to go check our table. We get back inside and the music is still bumping, people are loud and dancing. Kristen follows me back to our seats and I see his phone sitting there. I pick it up, it displays a missed call from me obviously and 2 unread texts from Mitch. I have no idea who Mitch is, he's never talked about a Mitch.
"So that's why he didn't answer. I still don't know why he would've left without you though." Kristen says standing near me still for moral support. I stare at this Mitch name on his phone and hesitate a second before sliding it unlocked. And there it is. I think I solved the mystery. Brian's last text to this person was 2 hours ago. He wrote "I really wish I was with you instead of this wedding right now." Mitch then replies with "Me too babe." 2 minutes later and then "I miss you when you're not here." Right after. I physically feel my soul leave my body. Chills spread across my entire back, down my legs, my arms. My mind goes insane. Is this a man!? Is he gay!? My thumb races up through the text threat. Reading as much as I can at a rapid rate backwards. I feel nauseous, I want to puke. I don't think this is a man, the way they speak, the emojis they use throughout. Then I see the answer. It's a picture. A picture I will never be able to wipe from my memory.
