Taking care of you is really, really important, you know? Like, seriously. It's something I've learned the hard way, getting so caught up in taking care of everyone around me that I forget about myself. But lately, my mental health has been going down the drain, and it's made me realize that I need to prioritize myself too. And you know what? I'm grateful that I've reached this point of awareness, because now when things don't feel right, I make sure to reach out to someone. I let it all out - I cry, I scream, I talk - I do whatever my soul is telling me to do, because I trust that my body knows what it needs to heal and move forward.It's kind of strange to be in this space, you know? In the past, during times like these, I would turn to my vices. Every little discomfort would send me running back to what I knew, looking for an escape. But today, when my mind suggests that as an option, my heart gives me a better solution. And let me tell you, having a strong support system in recovery is everything. I can't emphasize it enough. I honestly don't think I could do this without my family, my new friends, and most importantly, my higher power, which for me is Jesus Christ.Yesterday marked 11 months since I started this journey, and let me tell you, it's been one wild ride. Not a single day in these 11 months has been easy. I've battled demons that I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy, and man, those demons really tried to take me down. But here's the thing - I'll never tell you that recovery is a walk in the park. It's far from it. But I can promise you this - it's a fight that's absolutely worth it.
