Don't miss the #TeamSTIL and #HumboldtMarbleWeekend 2025 Marble hunt!

This Treasure Hunt starts on Thursday February 13th at 1pm! At that time we will post the first 5 locations. At 3pm we will post the next 5 locations. Finally at 5pm we will release the final 5 locations.

This 15 marble hunt is focused on Eureka and all locations are within a fifteen minute drive from downtown. We are announcing the general locations, hunt designations, and times associated with each marble early to help you plan your day hunting. Use the labeled pictures in this post to match the marble you want to the general location you should be when the hunts start.

NEW THIS YEAR:
-Please politely help us enforce the rules. In order to continue these hunts let folks know that following the rules is required. Be kind in case they are newbies, but firm.
-The items are mostly in a small black cloth bag which hides really well so be prepared for it to be difficult. We have automated clues in a post to our feed, and if that doesn't work I can give them out when needed. You may be on your own for long periods of time.
-We have an expanded labeling system for hunt difficulty. See below.
-Games may fail. There are more Easy Access (EA) and Limited Mobility (LM) hunts but these are more prone to early bird finders. The weather or storm waves also can swipe marbles.
-Many marbles are on a fishing line, which is all you can see.

TREASURE HUNTER TIPS:
-Best communication is on Facebook Posts. New this year is Instagram users should be getting the automatic clue posts on our feed.
-Don't miss a post: follow us on FB, on our feed hit the three dots, then follow settings, and then make us a favorite.
-Read the rules and follow them. Two reasons. First they keep the game smooth, fair, and able to be continued in the future. Second is *they can be considered clues as to where the item is hidden.*
-Look through our timeline at past hunts. There are hundreds of them. You can see how the games unfolds and get clues to how we tend to hide things.
-Save posts to your phone in case coverage drops

HUNT LABELS:
In order to best communicate the difficulty level of the hunt we are trying out an expanded label system. There will be four designations:
*Unlabeled- General adventure hunts. Good for family with normal hazards of hiking, going to the river bar, and playing outdoors.
*(LM) Limited Mobility- These hunts are designed to provide an even opportunity for everyone, included those with assisted mobility devices. If there are variables like possible mud I will communicate that in the post. I highly suggest a "hunting stick" at least a yard long to help poke and prod nooks and crannies. I was thinking a deluxe hunting tool may have a small mirror attached and a flashlight somewhere to help look in stumps and rabbit holes, maybe even a small hook.
*(EA) Easy Access- These are similar to LM hunts but there is a hinderance to assisted mobility devices such as trail conditions. These are generally close to parking, not strenuous, and are good for young children and well behaved pets.
*(DH) Danger Hunt- There are no danger hunts this round.

ALERT: For the whole event it is important to check the tides, wave height, or any other hazards for wherever you are going. These are the hardest hides we have ever done but they are *not anywhere dangerous*, except maybe the normal hazards of hiking, being near water, poison oak, and adventuring! Be safe!

ALERT: Be respectful of the area you are searching. You don't need to uproot or harm any plants or respected areas to find these. While you may need to get dirty or a little wet, tread lightly while you look and leave no trace.

******BONUS PRIZES*****
For this treasure hunt anyone who participates can come in for your choice of a free dozen pack of Wildberry's incense or a different cool prize. All you have to do is take a pic proving you were out looking at the location and then post it to the thread. Then come in within a few days and get your free bonus prize! Honestly, the pics of you hunting and having fun are my reward for all this 🙂We will post some of these in our game end summary.

******IMPORTANT*****
We love making these and doing this so it is really important you follow the rules so we can continue.
Rules:
1. Don't do anything to get people mad at you or us, and don't get mad at me if you don't find one.
2. Be respectful of the area and take care of nature. TREAD LIGHTLY!!! People harming nature is the only thing that puts these events at risk.
3. Only one piece per person per event. You can still chill with your hunting crew but please don't hunt anymore. Just hang out and brag.
4. Post a pic and tag us AS SOON AS POSSIBLE when you have found one so we can call it off. Other people are looking too 🙂 If you need to be on the down low send us a private note. YOU MUST DO THIS OR WE WILL BLOCK YOU! IT RUINS THE GAME IF YOU DON'T.
5. Do not do anything dangerous. Be smart and don't push your personal limits. We didn't put it anywhere unsafe.
6. Get out and ENJOY AN AMAZING DAY WITH AMAZING PEOPLE!!!
7. Automated post clues will publish on our feed. The posts will have a clue for each location in that block. There will be four total clues per two hour block ending with the "giveaway" clue. If no one finds it we will work with someone there to make sure it is still actually there and not found by early birds.
***It is always possible some lucky person just finds one and we never find out so please be forgiving 🙂 ***

Glassblowers Note:
Our friend @Topher Reynolds of humboltmarbleweekend.com invited us to participate in the upcoming weekend. We are totally down and stoked to help. The rundown of the weekends events pretty much go:

Thursday afternoon the #TeamSTIL treasure hunts will be released in three batches of five at 1pm, 3pm, and 5pm respectively. They are all within a short drive from downtown Eureka and all you need to do is follow our feed for the details.

Thursday evening is the Marble Makers Ball at the Glass Garage in Old Town. This is a free event featuring merriment, live music, a mega-marble glassblowing demonstration, food and beverages.

Friday and Saturday afternoon is the main event at Redwood Acres Franceschi Hall with over 60+ world renown glass artists showing and selling their work. The great news is that your $5 entry fee supports the entire weekend's festivities.

Sunday is the HMW mega marble scavenger hunt with over 100 marble available (some of them worth bank)! The entry for this even is your wristband from attending Humboldt Mable Weekend at Redwood Acres. I want to mention that there is only one marble prize per person for the whole weekend. That way we can spread out the artwork among more folks.

There are going to be tons of people out searching so don't miss out!
