2018 Ford transit 250 camper van - $60,000.00

2018 Ford Transit High Roof medium wheelbase 250 custom camper van for sale!

Located in Denver CO but willing to deliver anywhere for cost of gas and a plane ticket home!

Vanie Oakley was the name given to her by Brandon from Someday Vans in Ohio who did the build out. This was his personal van and he lived in it full time with his wife while doing river raft guiding in Jackson, WY.

I bought the van from him in 2020 with about 55,000 miles on it and was so impressed with the build quality that I bought a brand new transit 350 dually and had him perform the conversion in the new van. I planned on renting out the 2018 but haven’t had time to do so, so it’s time to pass her along.

Check out these videos from when he owned the van. The van in these videos is the exact same one I’m selling, but I’ve done some serious upgrades since the videos were made:

Upgrades since the videos were made:

I changed the AGM batteries to 2 Renergy Smart 100 amp hour lithium batteries in Jan 2021 with the Monitoring Screen. These came with a 5 year warranty so they are covered till Jan 2026 - $1,500 parts cost $200 labor

I replaced the factory radio with a kenwood touchscreen that works with apple carplay and android auto, including a new moulded panel so it looks factory installed. $1000 parts and labor

I removed the TV as I never watched it.

The van currently has 96,829 miles on it. I’ve had it serviced religiously and fixed everything and anything that comes up.

I just did the rear brakes and rotors under 1,000 miles ago.

Front brakes and rotors were done September 2021 with 70,554 miles and still have approximately 50% of life left according to inspection when rear brakes were done.

Hot water heater was replaced Nov 2022 and the water system has been professionally winterized by Gandar RV in both 2022 and 2023.

Tires were replaced in Oct of 2021 at 70,558 miles and I bought the 50,000 mile warranty with lifetime flat repair. The tires are beefy 245/75 16 BFGoodrich all terrain TA that perform amazing in dirt / mud / snow and ice. I have taken this van up super sketchy roads in steamboat springs that are marked 4x4 only and never had traction issues. We have used this van for a lot of skiing in CO and Utah so it’s seen a lot of snowy roads and powder up to 9” deep with no problem.

The videos go over all the details and specs really well, so I’m not going to review all that. The battery upgrade has been a huge improvement, we have gone off grid for days at a time in cloudy / snowy weather and I’ve never come close to draining the batteries. The propane tank lasts about a week of running the heater at night and cooking, plus it’s the type that can be exchanged at any gas station. I use a propane tank sensor with an app that is only $60 but I’ve swapped it to the new van. https://www.amazon.com/Mopeka-Check-Sensor-Steel-Tanks/dp/B09J6MXJKT

The van has the 3.7 liter motor not the eco boost. I purposefully went for the 3.7 because they tend to last way longer than the eco boost and are far less expensive to maintain. The eco boost from this era was having lost of problems with turbos failing at 150k miles. Do you own research but the long term costs of owning the 3.7 are way less. The only drawback is it runs at a higher rpm at highway speed so it’s not as quiet as the eco boost with the 10 speed.

This van was a no frills company work base model that came without cruise control. Brandon added an aftermarket cruise control but I don’t like to use it as it’s kinda glitchy.

I have added a couple dents to the exterior including some big boys in the top of the rear doors thanks to my father in law backing into his front awning of his own house. The doors still operate flawless and it hasn’t ever bothered me. There is also a good sized dent in the sliding door from a runaway lumber cart at Home Depot and the usual dings and scratches, but overall the exterior and trim are in great shape.

The interior is very nice but there is usual wear and tear on the cabinets and the shower wood slats could use refinishing. I’ve had the dents quoted at about $2500 including touch up on all the dings. I feel like the van is priced very fair but I’ve got a little wiggle room for a dent repair concession. Also the airbag light just came on so I’ve got an appointment with ford to check that out and I’ll cover that cost.
