Once, she had been the perfect wife. Married to the perfect husband. A life that everyone envied. But that life had crumbled long ago, leaving behind only this—a woman trying to tick off as much as she can from her bucket list.

Chapter 1
“Harder,” Sophia gasped, her voice ragged, barely a whisper against the humid night air.

Liam’s response was immediate, his body pressing her deeper into the plush sheets as her nails dug into his skin. The soft rustling of the curtains, fluttering in the ocean breeze, was lost beneath the sounds of their ragged breathing and the rhythm of their bodies colliding.

Outside, the breeze was cooler, the air heavy with salt as the waves crashed against the shore in the distance. The villa, nestled in some forgotten corner of the coast, had seemed like the perfect escape when she’d booked it—a beautiful, isolated retreat where no one would find her, where she could forget about Mark, about the years of disappointment and resentment that had eaten away at their marriage.

“Like that?” the young man whispered against her ear, his breath hot on her neck. His hands gripped her waist with a possessive intensity, pulling her closer as though he wanted to consume every part of her.

“Yes—” Her voice broke into a moan, her body trembling as she arched against him, her breath catching. “Don’t stop.”

The villa felt like another world, cut off from everything that was real, everything she was running from. The only sounds were the distant crashing of waves outside and the feverish pace of their movements.

Sophia’s fingers trailed down his back, nails raking his skin as she bit her lip. His lips brushed along her neck, trailing kisses that sent shivers through her already burning body.

“I can feel you,” he murmured, his lips hovering just above hers, teasing. “Do you want more?” She grinned wickedly, a flicker of dark amusement in her eyes as she met his gaze. “Always.”

With a final, urgent push, their bodies tensed, the heat between them reaching a crescendo. Sophia’s voice cracked as she let out a sharp gasp, her head tilting back as the wave of pleasure broke through her, stealing her breath. He followed her over the edge moments later, collapsing beside her, both of them tangled in the sheets, their skin still sticky with sweat.

For a moment, the room was quiet, filled only with the sound of their heavy breathing. Sophia stared up at the ceiling, her pulse still racing as she tried to savor the fading high. But as the minutes passed, the bliss began to drain away, leaving behind the all-too-familiar emptiness.

She rolled onto her side, propping herself up on one elbow, her fingers idly tracing his chest. He was young—too young—and the reality of it settled in like a weight on her shoulders.

“How old are you again?” she asked, her voice softer now, almost casual.

He smirked, still catching his breath as his hand found hers, sliding it up to his chest. “Twenty-one,” he replied, as if it were something to be proud of.

Sophia snorted softly, shaking her head. “Oh, God,” she muttered, rolling onto her back again. “You’re old enough to be my son.”

She wasn’t always like this.

She barely recognized herself anymore.

Once, she had been the perfect wife. Married to the perfect husband. A life that everyone envied. But that life had crumbled long ago, leaving behind only this—a woman trying to tick off as much as she can from her bucket list.

While she still have time.
