SLAM.
The slap hit harder than usual.
“What did I do this time, princess?” I taunted, mocking Kaley.
“You loser, don’t you dare stop me from disciplining that pup!” she hissed.
Everyone around us watched or laughed, including my Beta brother and the future leaders of the pack.
“Pick on someone your own size,” I shot back.
Another slap followed, blood dripping down my face.
But I didn’t care. I had my wolf—stronger than anyone could imagine. No one could see the real me.
It’s better that Kaley targets me than any vulnerable pups in the pack.
All I needed to do was keep my head low, train hard, and one day, leave this pathetic pack behind.
Training was the one place where I didn’t have to worry about Kaley. It was where I could just be myself, unnoticed, free from her cruelty.
But today... everything changed.
Sierra walked in like she owned the place. The guys couldn’t stop staring at her during practice.
“Alright, Sierra, you’re on the attack. Skylar, use the new defensive move and try to pin her in less than thirty seconds,” Delta Kyle called out.
I froze. Sierra looked stronger than me, and I wasn’t ready to show anyone my true strength.
The room buzzed with disbelief—mumbles of “What?” and “Thirty seconds? No way.”
Even my Beta brother shifted uncomfortably, while the twin Alphas eyed me intently.
My wolf stirred uneasily. We had always preferred staying in the shadows, but now... that wasn’t an option.
“No one can do that in thirty seconds,” a voice sneered from the back.
A chorus of laughs followed. The guys were full of themselves, unable to even handle basic moves in training.
My blood boiled, my wolf growled.
Shall we? I asked her.
Oh, kiddo, I thought you’d never ask.

The rest of the day passed in a blur after I beat Sierra in the practice drill.
Somehow, we ended up becoming friends. Now, we were both invited to the bonfire party—by the hottest guys in school.
Surrounded by the future twin Alphas, Beta, Gamma, and Delta, I could feel their eyes on me, full of curiosity.
I tried to focus on the bonfire, hoping my cheeks would cool down from the attention.
Alpha Cameron casually mentioned that his dad—the pack Alpha—had told him that all the warriors tried and failed to match my time record from earlier.
He asked how I’d done it, and his twin, Alpha Dakota, was just as curious.
“I just attend all the training sessions,” I shrugged, trying to downplay it.
The group around me inhaled sharply.
Gamma Oliver nearly choked on his beer, “How do you even have time for all that training? Don’t you hang out with friends?”
They had no idea. I didn’t have any friends before. Kaley made sure of that—she made anyone who even looked at me suffer...
Just then, a shrill voice pierced the air.
It was Kaley.
She strutted in with her minions, Jeanie and Marnie, all in tight skirts and high heels, immediately drawing attention.
I felt a wave of regret. Maybe I shouldn’t have come.
But to my surprise, the guys didn’t look thrilled by her entrance either.
Kaley didn’t care.
She marched straight over to Cameron and Dakota, wine in hand, pouting and giggling.
“I forgot the wine glasses,” she cooed, trying to play the damsel in distress.
Sierra, ever the bold one, smiled sweetly. “You could just drink from the bottle.”
Kaley shot her a venomous glare, clearly irritated by how comfortable Sierra seemed sitting in Sam’s lap.
Ignoring Sierra, she began suggesting the boys take shots off the girls. She flipped her hair, batted her lashes at Cameron and Dakota, clearly trying to charm them into her trap.
Sam hesitated, then spoke up. 'I’d like to pair up with Sierra.'
He was struggling to find a way to take things further with Sierra.
Kaley immediately claimed the twins for herself, while her minions took Beta and Gamma.
Everyone had a partner... except for me.
Kaley acted as if I didn’t mind being left out.
That’s when Oliver pointed at me and said, “Skylar needs a partner too.”
My face turned bright red.
Kaley’s expression twisted in disgust. She waved her hand dismissively, scoffing, “I’m sure she doesn’t mind being the odd one out.”
But the moment the words left her mouth, something shifted.
The guys—all five of them—turned to her with a collective growl.
