Title

Stomach Cancer Support Group With GI Oncologist and Guest Surgeons

Link Description

Stomach Cancer Support Group: A Multidisciplinary Educational Resource for Patients and Caregivers

Designed for patients and caregivers who have been diagnosed with stomach cancer or GEJ and; either had a total or partial gastrectomy or have surgery as an option, these monthly meetings are a unique opportunity to hear about the latest treatments, discuss new ideas, and support each other through a trying time. For patients not eligible for surgery, we spend some time discussing surgical strategies and latest developments. The support meeting is moderated by Dr. Sam Klempner, GI Oncologist, at Mass General Hospital. Guest stomach cancer surgeons invited to this meeting are Dr. Kaitlyn Kelly at University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics, Dr. Miguel Burch at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Dr. Sharon Shiraga at Keck School of Medicine of USC, Dr. Steve Brower at Englewood Health, NJ, and Dr. Mark Girgis at UCLA Health.

Please note that surgeons typically have unforeseen circumstances that may prevent them from attending, and not all of these surgeons will be able to make it. Additionally, this support group is not meant to be a second opinion forum.

Please go to stage4support.org for listings of oncology-only meetings.

The meeting is free, but registration is required.

** Disclaimer: The Doctors participating in this meeting are volunteers and they do not receive any compensation for their involvement. The comments and remarks that are made as part of this meeting are to be considered as information only. Anyone considering taking action with what has been discussed must first bring this to the attention of their own doctors and only act at their doctors' direction.
