I struggled with emotional eating, binging, weight fluctuations and low self worth before I finally stopped and lost 40 pounds by regulating my emotions and training my metabolism to eat whatever I want through connecting to my hunger and fullness cues and balancing my stress hormones.

And the way I approach my eating now, 13 years later looks completely different than it used to.

Here are things I don’t do now that I used to:

🚫 CUT OUT SUGAR OR DESSERTS - I never cut our desserts or sugar. I know it doesn’t trigger me or impact my weight bc I know how to include it in my everyday nutrition.

🚫 COUNT MACROS OR CALORIES. I used to use tracking to give me permission to eat and make me feel safe. Now I listen to my body.

🚫EAT PAST FULL. That’s not to say I don’t ever feel stuffed but for the most part I don’t eat with urgency or mindlessness. I don’t check out and use food to soothe or distract.

🚫 VANITY JUNK FOOD. I used to eat granola and protein bars bc I thought they were free healthy foods even when I wasn’t hungry, now I know they were dense and not what I needed at the time.

🚫 OVEREXERCISE TO BURN OFF FOOD. I used to work out to make up for eating too much. Now I work out for agility and emotional regulation.

🚫THINK ABOUT FOOD 24/7. I hardly think about food anymore. I eat when I am hungry and can make choices I feel confident about anytime / anywhere.

I realize now that the biggest shift is my mindset and letting go of the “I need to follow a plan mentality” to “I can eat whatever I want” mentality.

Because of the sustained weight loss my confidence exploded, I have space in my brain for love and connecting with people and I trust myself completely.

After spending years trapped in a never ending cycle it feels like a miracle which is why I’m committed to helping other women break free too.
