Body | Mindset matters most when it comes to achieving the results we want. But what does this really mean? It means success brings more success. So often we get caught up in finding more tactics, more things to do...a more "perfect" program... But these "perfect" programs can actually be what mentally sabotage us. Often those "silly" feeling small changes lead to better results because of the mindset they create. The more you do, the more you do. And when you feel good about the actions you're taking, you create the success mindset that makes you want to KEEP doing the things you should. Yet so often we create a FAILURE mindset by trying to implement plans that force us into a mold that doesn't fit...especially at this time of year. We do programs where we feel like we are constantly not able to implement them properly... We miss workouts... Can't hit nutritional targets... And we not only give up but we feel BAD about ourselves. We feel like we don't have the willpower or self control needed. We feel like we've FAILED because we can't do these plans perfectly. And ultimately we don't stick with making changes long enough to see those results build. If instead we make smaller changes that we feel successful with, small habit swaps that meet us where we are at right now, we are better able to get consistent and even help ourselves WANT to build and keep going. STOP getting caught up in an ideal... Because while 4 days a week and 45 minutes may sound "better" than 3 days a week and 15 minutes... One may cause us to want to keep building while the other makes us want to give up. If we thought we should have done 6 days a week and 1 hour each session because that was our plan and goal, we may GIVE UP because we weren't "perfect" with it. We see the missed days and feel guilty so give up because we can't do everything we "should." Whereas if our plan was 3 sessions and 15 minutes each, we may feel super successful and want to do more because we were easily able to achieve what we set out to achieve! That positivity of mindset is HUGE to continued action. It may seem silly BUT our mind honestly is the most powerful tool we have to help us build those results. Our mindset dictates our direction. And habits that may not seem "ideal" or "big" can create that mindset of success which makes us want to do more and builds that momentum. It comes down to creating a DESIRE to do more. And the more we WANT to do, the more we ACTUALLY do. Which is what leads to results building. So if right now you aren't super motivated? You feel like it isn't the perfect time? Focus on what you can do to create a positive mindset...A mindset where you feel the wins of making even small changes or doing a minimum. Because when we feel like we are doing "good" and positive things for ourselves, we have a tendency to do more because it FEELS GOOD. So don't sabotage yourself with guilt or unrealistic standards right now that make you feel like you've failed. Set ONE positive habit goal. Set ONE small focus.
