FAYETTE’S NEW MISSOURI DEPARTMENT OF CONSERVATION COST SHARE GRANT
The City of Fayette MO and the Fayette Tree Board are grateful to the Missouri Department of Conservation for the new 2024 Cost Share Grant to help care for our urban forest. Five selected dying or dead trees will be removed and replaced with ten new trees planted in the Fayette City Park as a first step in utilizing Fayette's Tree Planting and Management Plan For Fayette City Park (Jan. 2024) by Landscape Architect Tim Frevert that was provided by the Missouri Department of Conservation. The community is encouraged to plant the right tree in the right place at least 30 feet away from overhead power lines. Always call Missouri 811 to have utilities located before digging. The Fayette Tree Board Spring Arbor Day tree giveaway will include native flowering shrubs for homeowners with tight spaces; there will be a limit of two trees or shrubs per household this year; contact bekkilou@gmail.com for more information. See the City of Fayette website cityoffayettemo.com, click on “Parks”, then “Tree Management Plan” and scroll to Appendix C (p.65) for guidance in choosing the right tree for your space. Winter is a great time for planning Spring planting.
