1970 BSA lightning (a-65) - $4,600.00

This is a classic BSA Lightning, 1970 model. 650cc twin cylinder engine. For those unfamiliar, BSA stands for Birmingham Small Arms, a British company that manufactured motorcycles for almost 70 years and then ceased operation in 1972.

When I bought this bike, it was a project. I have spent over $10,000 getting it to the point it is now, including the original purchase price. That said, if you're a rivet-counter who thinks only bone-stock bikes are worth having, you will not appreciate what I've done with it. There is nothing to see here for you... this is not the Droid you're looking for...

The first 3k of that was wasted on a mechanic that didn't know what he was doing, so all of that had to be undone, but the rest was done properly.

There is one last item to fix on it, which is why I have heavily discounted the price. It needs a new set of pistons and rings, and the lower Cylinder block replaced. The parts are readily available and would be about $450, if you are good at wrenching yourself. Or double that if you hire a shop to fix it.

The bike will run in it's current condition, but there is the tiniest of oil leaks out of the (new) head gasket, and the right cylinder appears to have slightly less compression than the left, which is why it could use new pistons and rings.

Mileage is an estimate, as I have NO history on the bike. Odometer worked when I bought it, but I can't say for sure if it were ever replaced at any point in the past. I have a clean title ready for transfer.

There is a world famous British motorcycle mechanic located in Georgetown, South Carolina. The bike is located in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

There are an astonishing number of new parts on the bike. Including valves, ignition, new Amal 930 carbs, a brand new dry clutch, new tires, new battery, new oil pressure switch, new fuel tank, a $400 leather tail bag, new front and rear turn indicators, new rotor, a $500 British flag paint job on the engine covers, all new wiring harness, brake switches, etc. The bike is a show winning quality bike. I have just lost interest because I have gotten more into modern bikes that my old hips don't have to kick start anymore. Price is firm. If I can't get 5k for it, I'll just finish the bike myself and sell it for more later.
