Kelly P., Surgical Coordinator, OR, UH TriPoint Medical Center, has been with University Hospitals for 24 years! Since starting as an LPN in obstetrics, she has added a variety of new degrees, certifications, and roles to her experience. <br /> <br /> In her first role as an LPN, Kelly received on-the-job training for Labor &amp; Delivery, Postpartum, and Scrub Tech. When she made the decision to return to school to earn her associate’s degree, she went with tuition reimbursement and scholarships through UH, and the encouragement and support of her managers and coworkers. <br /> <br /> After receiving her associate’s degree, Kelly continued to work in Labor &amp; Delivery. Again, she received on-the-job training. This time for Level 2 Nursery and as an OB Circulator. With years of experience, she soon obtained the role of OB Facilitator. <br /> <br /> “When I was ready for a change in specialty, I received the opportunity to move to the operating room as a Circulator, which eventually worked into my current position as OR Coordinator. My most recent accomplishment was obtaining my CNOR,” Kelly shares. <br /> <br /> In her current role, Kelly enjoys being able to coordinate and facilitate the daily operations of the operating room, while still having many opportunities to give hands-on patient care. But beyond her job itself are a team and a culture that keep her at UH. <br /> <br /> “The nursing culture here at UH is a family-like atmosphere,” Kelly explains. “We care for each other, our patients, our physicians, and our community with the compassion we would show our own families. I often encourage and recruit other nurses to join our team. The positive energy we have here at UH TriPoint is wonderful.
