Wardell Milan delivers an Artist Talk in on the occasion of the Menil’s display of "Pulse" in the exhibition "Fragments of Memory." Milan is known for his drawings and collages of paradisiacal landscapes inhabited by composite, fragmented figures.

Milan will be in conversation with Kelly Montana, Associate Curator, Menil Drawing Institute.

About the artist:
Building upon his background in photography, Wardell Milan (b. 1977) makes art across media that engages questions of the body, beauty, and how freedom is expressed. Significant solo and group exhibitions featuring his art include "Amerika, God Bless You If It’s Good to You," Bronx Museum of Art, New York; "Kingdom or Exile: Parisian Landscapes," Savannah College of Art and Design, Georgia; "Drawings of Harlem," Studio Museum Harlem, New York, and the touring exhibition "Multiplicity," most recently seen at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Milan’s work is included in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; Art Institute of Chicago; The Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; and Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto, among others. Milan lives and works in New York.
