"STOP!" I screamed as I tried to push my mate off of me. I just found out Alpha Anthony is my mate and he has insulted me in front of my mother, sister, and pack. He thinks I have no wolf and that I'm weak. Of course, I don't have my wolf yet. I haven't shifted, but I have always been able to speak with her. I shift tonight.
"Please... stop" I said. I hear my wolf whimper in my head.
'Don't do this mate', Brie pleads, but he can't hear her. I look at my mother and sister for help but they just stare at me like this is some movie. I feel his hands under my dress, so I scratched his face.
"You woman!" he growls and punches me again. I hear the tear of my underwear.
"ELENA!!!" I hear Ruben scream. I looked towards Ruben who is being held by my supposed pack members. He won't be able to help me and I can't fight an Alpha without a wolf. The pain I feel in my lower half in like anything I ever thought it would be. I used to hear people say that being with someone you love was the most beautiful thing when both mates want it. I didn;t want it though. I wasn't ready. I hear my wolf howl and with every howl I hear her even further until I don't hear her no more. I just look at Ruben and I can see how hurt he is still trying to reach for me. It felt like hours before the pig of my mate got off of me and came on the floor.
I was in so much pain, but most of all I felt dirty. One thing I knew for sure and that is that I couldn't stay here with this pack. I know my dad will hurt but if I don't get out of here, Goddess knows what will happen next. The pack members let go of Ruben and he rushes towards me.
"Oh honey, I'm so sorry" Ruben's voice broke at the end.
"I, Anthony Williams, Alpha of the Grimm Pack, reject you, Elena Russi Santos, as my mate and Luna of my pack" my mate said with disgust. I turned my face towards him.
"I, Elena Russi Santos... accept your rejection" I said. The way he looked at me was one with surprise. I guess he thought I was going to beg for him not to reject me. He was wrong. He walked towards my sister and kissed her.
"Stephanie, will you be my mate?" my ex mate asked my sister.
"Yes" my sister squealed. He picked her up bridal style and took her inside the pack house. I turned to Ruben weakly and i could see the disgust towards my sister and ex mate.
"Get me... out of here. No more pack for me" I said.
"But Elena, you are weak" Ruben said.
"If I stay it could happen again. Please Ruben", I said, tears streaming down my eyes. He nodded and picked me up bridal style. I screamed in pain but he apologised.
"Okay, I will get you out of here" Ruben said.

(Elena)
I walked into the building and headed straight to Dragoâs office. I'm covered in blood, cuts, and bruises. I successfully eliminated my target, but I didn't count on my target having so many people that would still fight for him even after he was killed. Yet, I fought many huge men to try and get out of the place I was in. I was in a room without windows. It was fight or die and I chose to fight. I'm not ready to leave this world yet. Many people would say that our lives are in fate's hands, but ever since I was fifteen, I have said this fate. I make my own choices and that's final. I can feel eyes on me maybe because of the way I look, but I ignore it. As soon as I stop in front of his door, the door swings open. Maddie looked at me with wide eyes.
âJesus, Ele, are you okay?â Maddie, one of my friends asked. She usually doesn't worry much, but by the look on her face I know this time she is worried.
âIâm fine. It looks worse than how I feelâ I said. She nods and lets me in. Drago looks at me and I see his eyes widen for a second before they go back to normal. I bet i look much worse than what I feel.
âElena, is your last assignment done?â Drago asks. Drago is the creator of the Elite Warrior. Nobody knows about this Elite Warrior group, not even the Elders or Kings of the supernatural world. The group is very small but fearless. Drako, Dragoâs son, found me when I was fifteen. I had been mentally and abused, beaten, rejected, and close to death. Drako nursed me back to health and when I decided to stay, he taught me how to become a Warrior and I became really good at it. Our group is unique. Drago has someone that contacts him when they want a job done.
âYes, sir. The target has been eliminated and there are no loose endsâ, I said.
âGreat job Elena. You can go ahead and get cleaned upâ Drago says proudly. I nodded before turning on my heels and walking out the door. I headed to my room and put my weapons by the door. Since Maddie and Dragon know Iâm back, they will send someone to clean my weapons. I grab some clothes and underwear before going to the bathroom. I undress the step in the shower. I turn on the shower, clenching my jaw when the cold water hits my body before warming up. Today was my last assignment. My grandfather died three months ago and left me his company. I have been trying to juggle the company and being a warrior, but itâs not easy because sometimes, as an Elite Warrior, I get called out of the blue to do a job and we donât know how long it will take. So I spoke with Drago, Drako, and Maddie, and we came to the solution that I should take care of the company. Drago knew my grandparents and my grandparents knew I was here with Drago. They werenât very happy that I was training to become an Elite Warrior, but after they found out what my mate did to me⌠they decided it was best as long as I continued with my school and went to college. I did just that.
I stopped using my last name from Russi, which belonged to my father, to my grandparentsâ last name⌠Santos. I then finished high school online, then went to college online. I knew that if my father had been here she would have been happy because I knew my grandparents were. I was proud of myself as well. Hell, I am still proud of myself. Iâm not the same weak fifteen year old little girl I used to be. I just wish my wolf would stop being so scared and come forward.
I sighed, turning off the shower. I grab the towel and towel dry myself. I get dressed and finish drying my hair with the towel. As soon as I walked out of the bathroom, I saw Maddie.
âAre you ready? I donât think you want to show up to your company all beat upâ she says, gesturing to me. I look at myself in the mirror next to me. I have a busted lip. A broken cheekbone, cuts and some bruises were starting to show.
âYou should see the other guysâ I said, making her giggle. We headed back to my room. Once inside, she places her hand on mine and her eyes turn white. Did I mention that Maddie is a witch? Yeah, sheâs a witch and Drakoâs mate. She was hunted because her coven is a coven of dark witches and Maddie had the ability to heal. When Maddie refused to use her powers for evil, they tried to kill her but she ran and Drako found her and brought her here. Here she learned like the rest of us and her powers grew. She didnât want to go out into battle, but she wanted to help when we came back injured.
âThere. All doneâ she grins at me. I donât need to look in the mirror because I feel like new.
âThank you Maddieâ, I smiled and hugged her.
âIâm going to miss you, Eleâ Maddie whispers as she pulls me in for a hug.
âYou know where and how to find me if you ever need anythingâ I told her and she nodded.
âStay safe out thereâ she said.
âI will do my bestâ, I told her.
âItâs all I ask. Now come on. Drago wants to see youâ Maddie says. I followed her out the door and back to Dragoâs office. As soon as we enter, Drago and his son Drako look at me. Maddie goes to Drako and he pulls her into a kiss.
âI have a car ready for you to take you to your grandparents' houseâ Drago says, but he doesnât look at me. He doesnât like goodbyes.
âThis is not goodbye, sir. You know where to find me and how to get in contact with me if you ever need meâ, I told him. This time he looked at me.
âI know Elena, but I have come to love you as a daughter. What you went through⌠no one should have gone through that. Just remember that they are still out there and that you are no longer that young child you once were. Iâm just sorry we couldnât help your wolf come forwardâ, Drago says, tears shining in his eyes.
âEverything happens for a reason, sir. What we went through was too much for the both of us. Maybe one day she will know that I will protect her and she will come forward, but for now, I am proud of the woman I have becomeâ, I said, making Drago smile.
âIâm glad to hear that. If you ever need anything, donât hesitate to callâ, Drago says, walking towards me and pulling me in for a hug. I hear a whimper in my head and I know itâs my wolf. I can feel her and sometimes I can hear her whimper here and there, but sheâs too afraid to show herself.
âSame thing. If you or anyone ever need anything, donât hesitate to call meâ I said once we pulled back from the hug. I give Maddie a hug.
âAlways remember you are more powerful than themâ I whispered in Maddieâs ear. She tightens her hug before letting me go. Then I hug Drako.
âThank you for saving my life, Drako. Youâre like a brother I never had. No, you are my big brotherâ I said into his ear.
âAnd youâre my little sisterâ Drako whispers back before pulling back and kissing the top of my head. I smiled at them before going back to my room and grabbing my duffle bag and suitcase. I go to the elevator and see everyone in a line on both sides of the wall. At the end stands Drago. I stop and look at everyone as they all turn to me. I hugged and said goodbye to everyone. The job we do here is very dangerous and sometimes we donât return alive. As I get closer to Drago, memories of me coming here for the first time hit me, followed by my training and my first assignment. But the most important part of all the smiles and laughs I had here hit me harder. This place didnât just save my life and taught me how to be who I am today. This place is my home and the people here are my family. When I reach Drago, I canât stop the tears from falling.
âThank you for making me the woman I am today. Thank you for giving me a home and a family, dadâ I said before hugging him. He hugs me tight.
âStay safe Elena. I love you my daughterâ. Drago whispers in my ear before letting me go. I took a deep breath before pulling back. Drako comes forward, grabbing my duffle bag and steps into the elevator with me. I wave to everyone as Drako hits the code followed by the button to go up.
âWhoâs the driver?â I asked Drako.
âWe know you donât want anyone to know yet that youâre the new owner and CEO of the company, so I will be the one driving youâ Drako says. I canât help but smile at this. Once out of the elevator, I follow Drako to his Jeep. He puts my bags in the back and I jump in. The drive to my grandparents' house- I mean my house is a quiet one. I thought about selling the house, but I couldnât. My great grandfather had this house made for him and his mate. He passed it down to my grandfather and after he met his mate they both lived here. After they passed, I found out that they had passed down the house to me.
We pull up to the gate and Drako puts in the code. Yes, he has the code, but I will be changing the code tonight. Itâs not that I donât trust him because I do, itâs just that too many people know the code and itâs best to be safe than sorry.
âDonât forget to change the code, Elena. The code is old and who knows who has this codeâ, Drako said, and I couldnât help but smile. He knows me too well. I mean, after all, he was one of the people who trained me.
âI will. Iâll change it tonightâ, I assured him. He nodded, pulling up to the house. Dalton, my driver and one of the workers were in front of the other workers. Grandpa and grandma always kept two maids, Lisa and Bonnie, the cook Chris, Dalton, who is the driver, and Jeff, the gardener and pool cleaner. They have been here since before I was born and my grandparents trust them and so do I. Not to mention, Drako did a full background on them. I got out of the Jeep.
âHello Miss Elena. Welcome homeâ, Dalton smiles.
âThank you Dalton. Itâs cold out here. Thereâs no need for you all to be out here in the cold. Go insideâ, I told them. They all smile, but Jeff and Chris grab my bags.
âWeâll take these to your roomâ, Dalton says.
âThank youâ, I smiled before they left.
âYou have my number if you ever need anythingâ, Drako says.
âYou, too, big brother. Anything, no matter how big or smallâ, I said, and he nodded and handed me the duffle bag he was carrying earlier.
âHere are your weapons and ammoâ, Drako says. I looked at the duffle bag, then back at Drako.
âWhat? But-â
âYes, I know. All weapons stay in the armory, but these weapons were made and customized just for you. They are yours and yours onlyâ, Drako says. I didnât know this, but now I understand why I got the same weapons for ten years.
âThis is incredible. I was going to go buy some, but Iâm glad I donât have to go through that hassle. Come inside, Iâll make you a check for themâ, I said.
âNo need to pay us for it. Itâs a gift from dad and meâ, Drako said.
âIt must have cost a lot to have these weapons made and customized just for meâ I said.
âItâs a gift, Elenaâ, Drako repeated, and pulled me in for another hug.
âTake care of yourself, sisâ he said before jumping back into his Jeep.
âDrakoâ I called, making him look at me.
âIf you, dad, or Maddie ever need anything for yourselves or our home, let me know. I will help in a heartbeatâ, I assured him.
âThank you Elenaâ he smiles and leaves. I sigh watching the back of the lights get smaller and smaller before the car is gone. I turned and headed inside the house. As soon as I enter the house, two fur balls jump on me, knocking me to the ground. I canât help but laugh. I have two dogs. My dogs are pure German Shepherds. Lobo was gifted to me by my grandparents for my eighteenth birthday, but Rain⌠I rescued her from a guy who was beating her. Drago let me keep them with me and helped me train them. Poor Rain, it took me a long time for her to trust me, but eventually she came around and those two mean the world to me. I would die for them. To some people, it may be weird for a werewolf to have two dogs, but I trust them with my life just like they trust me.
âMiss Elena, would you like anything to eat or drink?â Lisa asked.
âNo, thank you Lisa. Did Lobo and Rain eat yet?â I asked.
âYes, maâam and they have been out as wellâ, Lisa assured me.
âThank you Lisa. Oh, could you have Dalton come to my room pleaseâ I said.
âYes, Miss Elenaâ she smiled and I returned her smile, then headed to my room with my dogs on my heels. Lobo and Rain lay by the bed as I began to unpack my clothes and put them away. There was a knock at my door.
âCome in,â I called.
âDid you call for me maâam?â Dalton asks.
âYes, Dalton. Do you know how to change the code on the gate and door?â I asked.
âYes maâamâ he says.
âPlease change the code on both the gate and the door and when youâre done I want the tablet so I can see who is in the system. I want only the workers and myself. No one is to be added unless I have given the okay to do soâ, I said, and he nodded.
âYes, Miss Elena. What code would you like to be put in?â He asked. I give him the new code and he leaves. Once I finished putting the clothes away, I put my hand guns in different hidden places around the house. I then grab my McMillian TAC 50, my Barret M95, and my Barret M82 and place one in different places of the house memorizing where everything is. These are my sniper rifles. I have them so well hidden that not even the people that work here will know where they are and, even if they find it they know better than to touch whatâs not theirs.
(Elena)
Back in my room, I look at my dogs who are sleeping. I then look at the time. Itâs ten thirty at night and Iâm not tired. Deciding on going out, I go to my closet and grab a black sleeveless cut out bodycon dress that comes mid thigh and black thigh high four inch high heel boots. Once dressed, I let my hair loose and shake it out. I put on some black eyeliner, mascara, and lip gloss. I look at myself in the mirror. The dress clings to my body like a second skin. I look good. I grab my phone with my ID and credit card. I walked out of my room and headed down the stairs where I saw Dalton.
âMiss Elena, Iâve already changed the code as you asked and I have the tablet hereâ he said, gesturing to the table in his hand.
âPut it in my room please. Iâm going out, so donât wait upâ I said.
âWould you like me to drive you?â he asked. I have a couple of cars, but since Iâm going to the club I wonât drive.
âNo, itâs okay. Iâll get an Uber. You restâ I said and walked out the door. After getting an Uber and telling the driver where I wanted to go, he drove me to a high end club. I thanked him and paid. I got out and made my way to the bouncer. He looked at me up and down, then looked behind me and frowned when he saw I was alone.
âA woman as beautiful as you shouldnât be alone, but I hope you have some funâ he says, and opens the door for me. I could hear a few people protesting but I ignored them. The place smelled like sweat, perfume, human, and alcohol. I walked to the bar and ordered a drink and a few shots. The shots burned as it went down and even though the drink is sweet it was also strong. I really wanted to dance.
Three floors worth of balconies lined the sides but kept close to the edge like a poker playerâs prized hand, leaving the majority of the space filled with lights, fog, and the vibration of its own heartbeat. Despite my apprehensions, the dance floor was relatively clear, though it could have just been the sheer size. The tube like dance stages to either side of the DJ were empty at the moment. After I had another drink, I managed to sort of start moving. The weight of their eyes lightened and my imagination happily lifted me off from the clouds and into the light, where I flew, twisted, and fell in love with the curves of my body all over again. I could feel the urge to let go to truly lift off and dance, but just as I started to spin into a pirouette, I remembered where I was and how stupid it would look to do a classical dance in the club. I could smell my own shampoo and whatever chemical they used in the fog machine. I could even smell the cologne of the DJ, who was bobbing his head to his own world. The pounding of the bass seemed to punch through my ears.
After dancing for what seemed like hours, I made my way back to the bar. I didnât think it would be any quieter at the bar. Yet, somehow, through some strange trickery of modern architecture, it was. After a momentâs hesitation, I ordered something sweet but lighter than what I had before. I didnât want to be sick in the morning and set to sipping away the disappointment I didnât know I had. A few things about being an unshifted wolf is that I heal faster than a human, but slower than a werewolf. Oh, and alcohol affects me the way it does humans, which is why I donât drink.
I found myself ordering another drink after Iâd finished the second one. I was starting to finally get why people drink. My blood seemed to hum pleasantly, and I felt oddly warm and distant from the ache in my chest that made it hard to breathe. Just as the third martini appeared in front of me, a man slid onto the stool next to me. I opted to focus on the drink rather than look.
âIâll have what sheâs havingâ the smooth baritone threw me off for a moment, enough to make me wonder if I was more drunk than I thought to be affected by someoneâs voice. Not to mention that the amazing scent wafting over to me from him couldnât be nailed down to mere cologne, or at least any that I knew. For a quiet moment, I just sat there and tried to focus on that scent. He smelled like smoke and way too much cologne.
âIs this your birthday party?â he asked. Where in the world does he see a birthday party here? I shook my head at his stupidity.
âNo, itâs my pity partyâ. I lied and raised my hand to get the bartenderâs attention.
âOh, that suckâ he said. He had no idea.
âIt sucks balls. And right after deciding that, I actually wanted to get drunk. Seriously, these guysâŚâ the bartender scuttled over with that second pink lady drink which he handed to the tall figure beside me. Then my eyes landed on a tall muscular man with a black t shirt that said bouncer. His eyes were on me and he eyed me like I was a piece of meat. He walked past me and I took this chance to sneak my first full glance at the man beside me and found myself stunned, truly stunned, as one would be facing a celebrity. He must be a werewolf or a supernatural creature. The buzzing in my blood probably didnât help dull the impact. If there was the perfect ideal for a perfect man, this could be it. I gulped. I readied my traitorous brain was imagining how much of my skin those hands could cover. I shook myself. Hard. Just then a woman came to the bar all sweaty, her makeup runny.
âAinât that a piece of man meat! Did you seriously reel that in?â she asked me loudly. I almost smashed my face into the bar. I slowly downed the last of my drink and sat the glass on the bar.
âOh! Did I say that out loud?â she giggled, then turned to me. Before I could grab her by the front of that atrocious glittering nightmare she called a dress, she had already ambled off, tipping her head to the beat. I had half a mind to chase after her, but I couldnât find the strength to break through my embarrassment enough to peel my face off the bar. The man beside me chuckled, making every hair on my body stand up and not in a good way.
âI wouldnât worry. I get that a lot,â the guy sitting next to me said.
âGood for youâ screw this. I need something stronger.
âGet me something strongerâ. I could see the bartender frown in his hesitation, but then I heard the rustling of his clothes as he walked away. When I found my face cool enough.
âI liked how you danced on the dance floor. Are you a professional dancer?â he asks.
âIs this a pick up line?â alcohol had emboldened me. On any other occasion I would have struggled to even say âhiâ.
âNever been one for pick up lines. Usually they come to meâ he said.
âGood for youâ I said again. Iâd call him out as being arrogant if I couldnât see it was true.
âNo need to sound bitter. It isnât as great as it soundsâ he says, taking a sip of his drink. I looked over to see he had a glass of what looked to be Scotch. His earlier glass empty.
âNot bitter, just donât careâ I said as the bartender returned with my new drink, this one still sweet, but it stung on the way down. Only after the burn had disappeared from my throat, and my blood was all but singing, I turned to the man beside me. I decided to see where this conversation was going, but something in the back of my mind flashed warning signs.
âIâm a dancerâ I lied, taking a sip from my drink.
âAre you going to the Oasis Dance Company? Or planning to joinâ he asks.
âNopeâ I said, making sure to pop my âPâ.
âWhy not?â he asked before adding, âyou are really good.â
âBecause I donât like performingâ I admitted.
âYouâre a dancer⌠who doesnât like performing? Why?â he asked, his full attention on me.
âBecause I donât like the idea of convincing people Iâm good enough to be given money. If they like watching, good for them. I donât need itâ. I twisted the narrowed neck of my glass between my fingers. I see the sexy bouncer walking towards where I am.
âI just⌠I just want to dance because I like it. Not because Iâm good at it.â I took another sip of my poison of choice. For a minute, only the sound of the dance floor could be heard.
âYou could have made thousands, maybe even millions,â he said.
âSo?â
âSo?â he said, his voice pitching a bit higher in disbelief.
âYeah. So,â I shrugged, âI have everything I want. What else can I ask for?â the alcohol seemed to loosen my tongue, and I found the screen between my brain and my mouth somewhere else. Itâs true, I have everything I want except for one thing. Someone to love me for me.
âNah, I want a little cottage far away from people with a nice big plot of land for me to dance on under the sun, not that fake light crap. I want that hot, burn your eyes out, sun and grassâ. This drink tasted really good. âNo cars, no lights. Whyâd they even pay the money to make the ceiling glass if you canât even see the stars? Freaking city lights. I want a daring sky. Ugh, this music stinksâ why I ever thought it was good now escaped me. I was only half aware of his gaze on me now. Iâd drifted somewhere full of sunshine and the rattle of tree leaves. But I somehow noticed the weird look he wore.
âThat sounds⌠perfectâ he said, but for some reason, I didnât believe him.
âYeah, it does. Ugh, what am I even doing here? I hate places like this. Stupid people. Stupid noise, I canât even hear myself thinkâ I said.
âWhat kind of music do you like?â he asked.
âAll types, but more Vivaldi. Bachâ I said with a shrug.
âYeah, wellâ he said, slowly, âthere are private dance rooms on the second floor. We can play whatever music you like there.â The man grabbed me by my arm and began to drag me to some stairs.
âStop! Let me goâ, I said, and tried to pull my arm away from him, but he just held on tighter, making me whimper. I knew that was going to leave a bruise tomorrow. Flashbacks began to play in my head.

"Okay, I will get you out of here" Ruben said.

âCome on. Iâm going to show you some funâ, the man from the bar growled. I had no idea what he had in mind, but I knew it wasn't anything good. I brought my hand back and punched the guy in the throat, making him let go of me.
âWhen someone says no, it means no,â I spat and went to the bar. If I once thought he could be the perfect man, then I was totally wrong. I settled my bill and took a cab back to the house. Once inside my house, I took a deep breath and went to my room to take a quick shower and changed into my pajamas. I lay on my bed and I sighed in content and closed my eyes, falling into a peaceful sleep.

I woke up to my dogs whimpering softly. I knew they had to go outside. I quickly went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth. I grabbed a silk robe and put on my flip flops before going out the door with my dogs. I walked down the stairs and I saw Lisa and Bonnie making breakfast.
âGood morning Miss Elenaâ, they both smiled.
âGood morning. How did you two sleep?â I asked, opening the door for the dogs so they could go out. .
âI slept well, thank youâ Bonnie smiled. I closed the door, smiling at her.
"I slept good as well", Lisa smiled.
"That's good" I said. I grabbed Lobo and Rainâs food from the fridge and placed it on the ground in the room next to the kitchen. When Lobo and Rain finished, they came back in and went straight to their bowls. I sat down on the island and Lisa placed a plate in front of me of eggs, bacon, and toast. She then handed me a cup of coffee.
"Make sure you all eat breakfast as well" I said. My grandparents always treated them like family and I wanted that to continue.
"Just because I live here now and you work for me does't mean things will change. You are all still family", I reminded them.
"Thank you Miss Elena", Lisa and Bonnie said in Unison. I finished my breakfast and washed my dishes.
âLisa, could you let them out when they finish?â I asked, gesturing to my dogs.
âYes, Miss Elenaâ Lisa said. I went up to my room and got a duffle bag ready. I was leaving to go see my best friend Ruben and give him something my grandparents left for him. This meant I had to show up at my old pack and I didnât know how it would go. My grandparents told me a long time ago that dad was looking for me, but I asked him not to tell them anything. My grandparents knew what had happened to me. They were furious but agreed to keep everything a secret. The day my grandma passed away, grandpa was heartbroken, but because they were werewolf mates, grandpa followed not long after. They were destined mates. I sighed again, looking at the time. I packed up everything I needed and looked around, making sure I didnât leave anything I would be needing. Once I had finished packing, I changed clothes to black skinny jeans, a purple spaghetti strap shirt, and black combat boots. I then grabbed my duffle bag and went downstairs.
âRain, Lobo, letâs goâ, I called out to my dogs. I walked down the stairs where Dalton was waiting for me. He grabbed my suitcase and put it in the car.
âMiss. Elena, we will arrive at the airport soon. The jet is ready to goâ, Dalton, my driver, informed me. Dalton, along with everyone working at the house, are human but knew about my secret. They have been working here since before I was even born. My grandparents always treated them like family and now, so did I. Grandpa bought a jet because he didnât like waiting much for other people. When my grandparents had meetings out of the state or wanted to travel somewhere else, they made sure to leave whenever they wanted to and it was good for me as well, since I didnât want to put my dogs in a cage under the plane.
âThank you, Daltonâ, I smiled and looked at the other workers.
âI will see you all soon and remember, you guys are in charge of the house while Iâm gone. If you need anything donât hesitate to call me and let me knowâ, I told them.
âYes, Miss. Elena. Thank youâ, Lisa smiled at me. Dalton opened the car door for me and my dogs got in and so did I. I leaned back and closed my eyes for a little bit. I felt someone lick my face.
âAlright, alright, Iâm upâ I said, making Dalton chuckle. I looked around realizing we were at the airport. Dalton opened the door for me and the dogs got out and waited beside Dalton.
âGo on and do your businessâ I said to the dogs. They took off and I got out of the car. Dalton got my suitcase and I took it from him.
âYour Jeep will be at the airport. Your hotel room is also readyâ, Dalton informed me. I rented a Jeep because no one knew in the pack, not even my parents or Ruben, that I had taken over my grandparents' company. Hell, they probably thought I was dead. I have managed to keep my face and name out of the tabloids. All I wanted was to do my job and make my grandparents proud. I was only going to be at the pack for a couple of days before going to the hotel. I didnât want to be there, but it was my grandparentsâ wish for me to give an envelope to Ruben personally. Plus, I wanted to see my friend. Ruben was a good friend of mine when I was at the pack. He was really nice to me while my mother and sister beat me. Hell he helped me escape the pack after my mate beat me, physically abused me, and rejected me before taking my sister as his mate. I'm not the same girl i used to be back then. If my ex mate tries anything again... I will castrate him.
âThank you, Dalton. Iâll see you soonâ, I hugged him then walked to the jet. I whistled and in no time my babies were next to me.
âInâ I said. Rain went in first, then sat by the stairs waiting for me. I knew Lobo was not going to go in until I was inside. I went in, followed by Lobo.
âHello Miss Santos. Everything is on time. We will be arriving at our destination in two hours and twenty minutesâ, the Captain said.
âThank you, Captainâ I said, and took my seat. Rain and Lobo took the two seats in front of me and got comfortable.
âMiss Santos, would you like anything to drink or eat?â the flight attendant asked.
âIâll have a Sprite and a cup with ice. Do you have any type of meat?â I asked.
âYes, maâam. We have chicken and steaksâ she replied. Both Rain and Loboâs heads shot up at the mention of steaks, making the flight attendant look at them and I chuckled.
âLet me have two steaks on separate plates pleaseâ I said.
âOf courseâ she smiled. Once up in the air, the flight attendant came with my wine and the two steaks. She also brought them a bowl of water for when they finished. Once I finished my Sprite, I relaxed and took a nap. I was shaken awake slightly. I could also hear my dogs growling. I opened my eyes to see the flight attendant looking at the dogs.
âItâs okayâ I told my babies.
âWeâre landingâ, the flight attendant said.
âThank youâ I said and got ready. After we landed, I spotted my car. I rented a 2019 Jeep Wrangler. I didnât want to get anything new, since my parents have no idea my grandparents left me everything they had and when I say everything I mean everything. I got my suitcase and put it in my Jeep, then let my babies do their business before getting in the car and driving to the pack.

~One Hour Later~
(Elena)
I pulled up to the pack house. It hadnât changed a bit. Last time I was here I was fifteen. I got out of the Jeep and grabbed my suitcase. I could feel pack dogs getting closer to me. Suddenly, I was grabbed by my arms. My dogs growled and I took this chance to grab the personâs hand, twisting the personâs arm behind his back and slamming his head to the ground.
âElenaâ my mother growled. I could tell she was not happy at all to know that I was alive and well.
âHello to you too, motherâ I said, letting go of the man. My mother looked at me, then at the man.
âLeaveâ mom snarled at the man. He quickly took off, leaving me there with her. Mom snarled at my dogs.
âDonât snarl at my dogs. They have done nothing to youâ I said to her, making sure she knew I was not afraid of her.
âThis is my house. I do what I wantâ she snarled at me.
âThen I can just leave. Good luck telling dad the truth why I leftâ, I said, walking down the stairs to get back in my Jeep.
âStop! Just come in. I wonât snarl at them againâ she grits out. I chuckled to myself.
âElenaâ, I heard a familiar voice. I looked behind my mother to see my best friend Ruben looking at me with wide eyes and a huge smile.
âRubenâ I smiled widely, running past my mother, and hugging him. He hugged me tight then patted Lobo and Rain on the head before grabbing my duffle bag.
"It's so good to see you. It's been so long" he said.
"It's good to see you too. I'm sorry I didn't reach out sooner", I told him.
âDon't worry about it. What matters is that you are good and alive. What are you doing here?â he asked lowly.
âI came to see you and dadâ I said, knowing my mother was still watching.
âAre you staying here?â he asked.
âI donât want to, but Iâm exhaustedâ I admitted.
âCome on, Iâll show you to your roomâ he said. He grabbed my bag and began to walk up the stairs.
âHow are you doing?â Ruben asked. I couldnât lie to my friend.
âTaking it day by day. Work is good, but I needed to come and see you. I have something I need to give you and I missed youâ, I admitted.
âI missed you too. I always prayed to the moon goddess that you were safe out thereâ, Ruben said.
âI was more than safeâ, I assured him. We stopped in the room next to his.
âYou can stay hereâ he said. I noticed his body go stiff. I walked around him and saw his eyes glazed over. When his eyes turned back to normal, he smiled at me.
âYour father knows youâre here. Heâs on his wayâ, Ruben said.
âGreatâ I murmured, not in a bad way. I just didn't know what I was going to say to my dad. I was never good at lying to him. I grabbed my duffle bag and opened it, taking out the envelope given to me by the lawyer. I turned towards Ruben and handed it to him.
âIt was my grandparents' wish for you to have thisâ I said. He took the envelope and looked at me.
âNo one can know you have thisâ I said lowly. He nodded, putting the envelope in his pocket. When he opened the door, I noticed dad standing there.
âElenaâ dad said lowly before rushing inside the room and pulling me into a hug. My body stiffens at first and my wolf whimpers before I hug my father. Dad has always been a great father and Alpha. I saw Ruben give me a small smile before slipping out.
âDaddyâ I whimpered, tightening my hold on dad. I had no idea exactly how much I missed him until now.
âWhere have you been, honey? I have been looking all over for youâ dad said.
âOh daddy. You have no idea what happened, but Iâm very tired. Can we talk tomorrow?â I asked him.
âOkay, but please donât leave again. I need to know what happened. Why did you leave?â dad said.
âI didnât come back to dad, but youâll know the truth about why I leftâ I said. Dad sighed but nodded his head. He kissed the top of my head before leaving. I sighed, closing the door. I laid on the bed and closed my eyes for a while. I was startled awake when there was a knock on my door making Lobo and Rain growl.
âEasyâ I said and got up. I opened the door to see Ruben with a smile on his face.
âHey, do you want to go have dinner?â he asked.
âIâm not going down to have dinner with themâ I said.
âWeâre not. Weâre going outâ, Ruben grinned. I put on my boots and walked out with Ruben and my dogs. I opened the door for my babies and I got in.
âThereâs a diner not far from here that has really good meat loafâ, Ruben said. I nodded and handed him the keys to the Jeep.
âSounds good. I havenât had meat loaf in a whileâ, I smiled. Ruben drove to town and went to a diner Ruben was talking about. As soon as we entered, the waitress looked at me.
âIâm sorry but the dogs canât be in hereâ she said. I arched an eyebrow at her but still turned and opened the door for the dogs.
âStayâ I said, and they both sat down.
âWhat no, we can go somewhere elseâ Ruben said.
âNo, itâs okay. We can order and go eat somewhere elseâ, I said to my friend. I looked through the menu, but the meat loaf sounded really good.
âWhat can I get for you?â the waitress from earlier asked.
âIâm going to have three orders of meat loaf, mashed potatoes with gravy, and green beans. To drink, I will have a coke, and a bottle of water-â
âMake that four orders of meat loaf, two cokes and a bottle of waterâ, Ruben said, and I smiled at him.
âThat will be to goâ I said, handing her the menu. I noticed Ruben was in deep thought.
âIs everything okay?â I asked him.
âYeah, I was just thinking of the letter you handed meâ he said, pulling it out. He then showed me a check for two billion dollars. A letter which I knew was for his eyes only and a picture of my grandparents, Ruben, and me when I was twelve years old. Just then a memory came back.
