*Week in Review with Johnny J*

Happy Monday, Team Ropers. I know we are early for a change lol. But since we are all leaving Wednesday morning headed to Statesboro for our big truck and Jeep roping, we wanted to go ahead and get this out to you tonight. From a business side of things obviously you already know this has turned out to be the largest prize event in the entire nation, and we also pay tons of cash to go along with it. I will tell you, if you need any stalls or RV reservations, they need to be made by 5pm tomorrow. We will not take any reservations past that point. It will be first come, first served. If having a hookup and an indoor stall is a priority to you, I would encourage you to call in before 5 tomorrow. That number is 423-612-8414. Then on November 2nd, we will have a little jackpot here at our place in Piney Flats. The week after that on November 9-10, we will be having our annual Memphis in November event as well. We will be sure to post all three of these ads in the comments for you. I’ve been extremely busy dealing with all kinds of WSTR Finale business helping get the programs and articles in line for all the individual ropers. I sure hope you’ve taken care of all your business and will join us in Vegas for what’s going to be the largest payout in the history of team roping! Also, a little business I want to touch on (and some personal as well), as you know I roped at the CoJo event in the 12.5 this past week. While roping with Nick Sartain on our first steer, we were initially clean. I didn’t quite get my horse faced good enough to get a flag. So, Nick undallied, and we lost a leg. By the time we finally got a flag we were 18 on our first one which basically took us out of the roping. The reason I’m telling you this is because throughout several of our events this year plus several events I have attended, this has seemed to be a problem with our competitors. I’ve heard everything from “I must not be in the clique,” to “it’s not an Open roping, I should have got a flag.” I can assure you that Chase Massengill (who was flagging at the CoJo) is one of my good friends as well as a good friend of Nick’s. He flags all the major events in the country, including 5 of my own, and he made the exact right call. So cut the BS. Ride your horse, get faced, and don’t undally until you get a flag.
Personally, I already told you that I went to the Cojo. What a great event that was. Ullman Peterson Productions outdid themselves with the presentation and the entire experience for the whole week. From a team roping side of things, the cattle were great, and the staff was outstanding. The money that Cody and Brandi raised for their charity was unbelievable also! They raised over $750,000! Great job to all those involved, and huge thank you to all who helped raise an enormous amount of money for that charity! Mason and Emma went to the NCA Finals where Emma had a great weekend winning about $2,000. Then they took off and went over to help Emma’s sister, Leah, with the Skyla Strong charity on Sunday which turned out to be a great success as well. I got to go to Knoxville and go to the UT game with Penny, Kelly, Eli, and Merea, and Ned. We also met Chip Phillips and his wife, Dena. What a great evening it was watching Tennessee beat Alabama 2 consecutive trips to Knoxville. Oh, by the way, all you Texas and Oklahoma ropers that love college football, welcome to the SEC Baby! Please continue to keep all our neighbors in your thoughts and prayers as they deal with the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. Many of them still have a long road ahead of them. Hope to see you in Statesboro!
