Donate-to-Skate

Link Description

For me, and I am sure I speak for many others as well, skateboarding is an outlet. Ever since I was little, I spent so much time at the skatepark with my friends. When I say outlet, I mean outlet in the fullest extent of the word. When my grandfather passed away, at 16 years old, it crushed me. At the time, all I could think about was skateboarding. I didn’t even want to go see him. I just wanted to clear my mind and get in the right headspace. It did exactly that. I was focused on the ramps, tabletops, coping, rails, pretty much everything except my grandfather. I know it sounds cliché, but it really is a way of life. The skating community is a very accepting community, no matter how big, small, old, young, skinny, chubby, it doesn’t matter. We are all out there to do the same thing. Ride. That is what this event will allow these kids to do. Just ride. There is absolutely nothing better than seeing a child’s face when they successfully complete a trick they have been working on for months, if not years. It fills hearts with joy! The smiles, the tears, the laughs, the fears. It is all part of it. Everyone should be allowed to try it. No matter the age. Start young. Start old, it doesn’t matter. Look at Tony Hawk (still skating at the age of 56), Steve Caballero (still skating at the age of 60), Rodney Mullen (creator of the flat ground ollie, and later the kickflip, heelflip, backside flips, 360 flips, impossibles, and darkslides), Bucky Lasek, Rob Dyrdek, Bob Burnquist, Chad Muska, Andrew Reynolds, Eric Koston, and even Ryan Sheckler, turning pro at the age of 13!! Anything is possible, but it starts with a board.

This is a nonprofit event to drop off any unused skateboards, and accessories (trucks, bearings, wheels, decks, etc.) that will be repaired and donated to those who are less fortunate to be able to acquire a board. Let’s share the love of skateboarding and make sure these kids can enjoy the skatepark and be happy! Another event will follow for the actual donation/pickup, so please keep your eyes peeled! Hit me up, let me know if you have a child that has been interested in a board (even the slightest bit) and we will figure something out together.

Keep in mind, even if the deck is broken, but the trucks, wheels, bearings, and risers are all intact, we can use that! With enough collected, we should be able to get a decent number of boards put together that we can hand out on the day of the giveaway! Thank you all for your love and support!!

The Roosevelt Skatepark will be the location of the event, as well as the pickup for the kids! More to come!

Peace!!
