It's easy to forget that everyone reading this page has not been here from the beginning. This page is a conversation about Katelyn and her disappearance that started on August 27, 2011, less than 2 weeks after she was reported missing.

It started because people were wanting to discuss their questions and concerns almost immediately. The family and friends were laser focussed on finding Katelyn and discussions about 'who did it' were counterproductive in discussions focussed on raising awareness and getting volunteers to look for her. But people kept posting things and they were upsetting to the people trying to focus on finding her.They were upsetting to John also but we know now that is not because he was focussed on finding her, it was because he was being scrutinized.

This page emerged not to create discussion, but to direct it away from the search efforts. But it did create discussion and it did help to keep the discussion going for years. There are many other pages that did that also, we are one and we have been singled out as "Anti-John."

As the person who pushed the buttons to create the page and setup the very few rules regarding discussions here, I find that personally amusing. Johns defenders' angst and unhappiness at the things being said about John on the searching pages is why I created this page. That is why and there was no other reason whatsoever.

But in doing that I had to monitor the page. It was my responsibility. It took a lot of time and I had to read all the messages. That forced me to think about the things people were saying and think about the things I had heard John say in the 911 call and the media. I refused to let people rant without reason. I refused to let the conversation be about mob mentality and vigilante justice.

So I had to focus and in doing that we gained a lot of thoughtful, rational, focussed people from all over the country who were looking and reading and considering.

And the long and short of it is that it seemed absolutely obvious that John was lying. That, combined with the fact that his girlfriend was missing and he was the last known person to see her alive, made him suspect in the minds of most, but not all.

The thing that drew us together was the timeline. That's what did it. If you go all the way back through our posts (good luck) or all the way back through our photos (much easier) you will find that the timeline provided by John not making any sense is what had everyone interested and concerned.

I created screenshots of each theory and a support/rebuttal synopsis for each theory. The timeline John gave did not allow for a stranger abduction, and that's when we thought her phone was disabled at 12:44 am and not just after midnight. We also did NOT know that John's phone was turned off at the same time. That would have really juiced up our conversations.

Back then we did not know that ALL the texting took place before midnight and that John never sent any "good morning" texts. He was not considered very believable back then, with the knowledge we have today he'd have had a lot less 'reasonable doubt' thrown his way back then, and there wasn't much back then.

Look at the livejournal created by Tess Avelland back then. The link is at the top of the page. She points out that John said he left between 11 and 12 but that time fluctuated. We took him at his word that it was between that time even though the neighbor says he did not see John's car at 9:30; 10 and 11-11:15. He was in the parking lot at those times, saw Katelyn's car but not John's. Given we now know that all the texting happened before 12 and both phones were disabled. It's looking like John was gone not long after Brad left that night. It's looking like whatever happened, happened before 9:30. I'm not sure when the neighbor heard the fight but I'm thinking it was before 9:30pm.

We were fixated on the problems of the 10:30pm to 12:45am timeframe because it just did not fit. John wanted that to be the timeframe because he was at the bonfire. John needed that to be the timeframe because he felt he had an alibi for that time. But even that did not fit. His creation of a timeline to fit his alibi was flawed, fatally flawed it seems.

Katelyn likely died before 9:30 on August 13, 2011.

All that "I left around 11" or "11:30" or "around midnight" was BS. It sounded like BS back then but now we have proof. The public was right to say "This doesn't sound right" because it wasn't. He was lying and trying to cover himself but his cover had so many holes in it that it drew scrutiny even from people without the information Law Enforcement had.

The question I have is why would the belief that John was watching a computer based upon the fact that a computer was playing trump the fact that John and Katelyn's phones were turned off at around the same time, they were the last to communicate with each other that night, she was missing AND he deleted the messages they exchanged?

I think we heard the "I watched tv when I got home" story and thought it was stupid in 2011 and we did not have benefit of the information Law Enforcement had back then. Yes there is more now but even what they had back then should have been enough.

John lied to the police when he said he sent her a good morning text. That purportedly happened around the same time he was watching the computer. He didn't do that, his phone was disabled. He lied about something intimately tied to his alibi timeline and he was not only not charged with that, he was not even pressed about it.

I've had years to come to grips with this and it still disgusts me. If we had known this in 2011 we'd have been in front of the police department with picket signs. We were considered a nuisance (the Scooby Do Mystery Solving Gang), along with all of our theories and 'misguided' conclusions. But our conclusions were on point even without the facts that LE had, reason alone provided the correct conclusion. I guess it's good they didn't share those facts, all we could have done would have been to complain because they were not going to do anything unless and until John confessed. But it does make you wonder who they were trying to protect by keeping it a secret that he was obviously lying and they knew it.

The investigation? Since they never saw that to a conclusion on their own that doesn't appear to be a reasonable response. He has confessed now, the investigation is closed. I doubt we'll get any answers, they don't appear to be speaking to the media anymore.
