Imagine stepping on the scales and seeing a number you haven't seen in years. That's exactly what happened to one of my clients last week. She's shed over 20kg (45lbs) and, for the first time in a long time, weighs less than 70kg.

Now, I could tell you this was easy. I could claim she achieved this without facing challenges, completely cutting out junk food, or ever losing motivation. But that would be utter bollocks.

The truth? My client has worked bloody hard for this result. And that's precisely what I'm celebrating.

Her journey to this milestone wasn't a walk in the park. It took grit, determination, and a willingness to embrace change. She ditched the addictive quick fixes, resisting the temptation of crash diets and their false promise of immediate (but fleeting) results. Instead, she embraced the long game – and blimey, has it paid off!

But the real challenge? Tackling her relationship with food. This is the part that scares many away. One recent client admitted that addressing her inner demons nearly stopped her from joining Break The Yo-Yo. But here's the thing: confronting self-sabotage and emotional eating is tough, but it's the key to lasting change. A juice diet might seem easier, but it won't heal your relationship with food.

Getting organised was another crucial step. Spontaneity with food can wreak havoc on weight loss efforts. While we encourage (and allow) meals out, day trips, and the occasional ice cream on the beach in Break The Yo-Yo, it's all about planning. Most weight gain stems from mindless, emotional eating. That's why we champion mindful, intentional eating.

Perhaps most importantly, she learned to trust the process. There were weeks when the scales didn't budge, and she was tempted to slash her calories. But that's a slippery slope leading to diet fatigue and a knackered metabolism. Instead, she stayed consistent, heeded my adjustments, and stuck to the plan. It wasn't easy, but crikey, was it worth it!
