An EMERGENCY ALERT TEST will occur on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 11 a.m. during an evacuation exercise in the Broadmoor Bluffs area in Colorado Springs.

Two emergency alerts will be issued as part of the test using Peak Alerts and Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA)

The following messages will be part of the exercise:

Peak Alerts

TEST, TEST, TEST. This is a test of Peak Alerts for the Broadmoor Bluffs Evacuation Exercise. This is only a TEST.

If you are participating in this exercise, you should proceed to Harrison High School located at 2755 Janitell Rd for the Safety Fair.

You can disregard this alert if you are not participating in the exercise.

This concludes the test of Peak Alerts. End Test

Wireless Emergency Alert

Depending on the age/carrier of your mobile device, you may receive one of the following messages:

TEST ALERT: This is a test of the wireless emergency alert system—no action required.

Colorado Springs Police Department: TEST ALERT. First Responders are conducting an EXERCISE in the area of Highway 115 and Star Ranch Rd. Watch for emergency vehicles. This alert is testing public alerting capabilities. NO ACTION REQUIRED.

Public safety officials use Peak Alerts to send targeted emergency alerts threatening life or safety. Alerts include evacuation orders, missing persons, and shelter-in-place information. Residents must register to receive these alerts at PeakAlerts.org.

Authorized public safety officials send WEA alerts through FEMA's Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS) to participating wireless carriers, pushing the alerts to compatible mobile devices in the affected area. Learn more about wireless emergency alerts: https://www.fcc.gov/consumers/guides/wireless-emergency-alerts-wea.

All messages will be clearly labeled as tests. No action is required upon receipt of these messages.
