Link Description

🌳🌲🌳 TREE GIVEAWAY 🌲🌳🌲

πŸ“… SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 2024
πŸ•˜ 1-4 pm
πŸ“ Pioneers Park Nature Center, 3201 S. Coddington Ave
For more information about the free tree distribution, visit lincoln.ne.gov/treegiveaway.

⚠️2024 UPDATE: This year the tree giveaway will NOT be in a drive-thru format. Instead, those interested in getting a tree will need to go to the west side of the Prairie Building and chat with a volunteer or staff member to choose from the selection of trees available. Once a selection is made, take the corresponding flyer to the pickup location near the Prairie Schoolhouse.

⚠️Don't forget to check out the other events going on at the annual Wild Fall Festival that is taking place at the same time.

🏑 AVAILABLE FOR LINCOLN AND LANCASTER COUNTY HOMEOWNERS. Trees are being made available to be planted on private property.

πŸ†“ Trees are free! Supply is limited. Trees will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

🌳Species include Bur Oak, Canada Red Chokecherry, Ironwood, North American Elm, Swamp White Oak, and Tuliptree.

βœ… The locally grown trees are distributed in three-gallon containers and include planting and care instructions. Most of these trees will be anywhere from 4-6+ feet tall. Please plan accordingly for your vehicle to properly travel. Plants may be laid flat during short transport.

πŸ‚ The goal of the event is to distribute trees to homeowners in low- and moderate-income neighborhoods who have experienced tree loss.

☎️ Make sure to call 811 before you dig and plant your tree!

πŸ’š This event is in conjunction with the annual Wild Fall Festival, a family-friendly informative, and fun event at the Pioneers Park Nature Center. Please note that there will be pedestrians including small children around the nature center grounds, so we ask that people take their time to safely travel to and from the tree event spaces.
