Body | The Somerset-Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the winner of their 11th Annual Young Entrepreneurs Academy.

After 18 weeks of intense instruction on how to start and run their own business, our students had the chance to "pitch" their business ideas to a local group of investors this past week.

Just imagine the television show "Shark Tank" on a local level.

Based on the appeal and merit of the student’s plans and presentations, companies will determine the amount of funds to allocate to each business or social movement.

Somerset Christian School student Claire Hardy was recently crowned as the winner of this year's program. Hardy is the CEO and creator of 'Fruit Fusion', which is freeze-dried fruit with spices to complement its unique taste.

Claire was awarded with a 4-year college scholarship to Campbellsville University for winning the program.

The runner-up to Woodall was Ian Horseman, an eighth grader at Northern Middle School. His business, 'H.I.A.I.N.', is an urban-style Christian apparel brand with the intent to help people share the Gospel. His idea earned him a $1,000 investment and a $1,500 college scholarship to the college of his choice, thanks to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Every participant in this year's program received $1,000 to help them start their business ideas.

To date, the Chamber has awarded over $90,000 to aspiring entrepreneurs who have graduated from the YEA! Program. The Young Entrepreneurs Academy has now awarded over $1.2-million dollars in college scholarships to Campbellsville University since the launch of our program.

A huge thank you to all of the parents, mentors, teachers and sponsors who make this program happen on a yearly basis. This program is a pillar of the Chamber of Commerce and we are proud to help teach business skills to our next generation of entrepreneurs.

* Thank you to SPEDA for once again being our presenting sponsor of this wonderful program
* Thank you to Toyotetsu (TTAI) for paying the academic tuition for all of this year's participating students
* Thank you to Rick Barker for emceeing our program
* Thank you to The City of Somerset for the use of their facilities
* Thank you to Somerset Community College for hosting our program for the past 18-weeks
* Thank you to Mark Brenzel & Dan Cheshire for teaching this year's program
* Thank you to Frisch's Big Boy for providing food for our event.
* Thank you to Ross Corder for taking some awesome pictures at last weeks event.

Most importantly ..... thank you to our Program Manager, Reci Shook.
