Body | After being abused by my father, I finally met my mate.
It was he who saved me. And he said he would never hurt me.
He was my everything, in these few short moments, he has given me a safe haven, a home in his arms.
When I came to his pack with him, I noticed that everyone around me was staring at us.
“Seriously, why are they staring at us? It’s kind of creepy,” I asked him.
“Luna, it’s so good to meet you!” a girl said to me.
“Why are you calling me Luna, and what is wrong with all these people? Have you never seen an overgrown giant carry a broken girl before?”
“We are calling you Luna because Drake is our alpha.”
My jaw drops as I look back at Drake.
“They are all staring at him because they are scared of him. He is Alpha Drake Moon of the Blood Moon pack.”
————————
Lilly's POV
I limp out of the room. It takes all of our concentration to stay on our feet, but after a minute bile rises up my throat. My insides churn as I trip and fall, the ground moving below me, but as I land, I land in someone’s arms.
I look up, my eyes watering as I take a large inhale of his scent, the anxiety and turmoil inside my body relaxing as I look into his perfect, perfect face. Tingles of pleasure ripple under my skin as his hands hold my body, replacing the pain with peace. As our eyes meet it’s like a current flows through me, straight into him. Layla gasps as we watch each other.
“Mate.”
“Mate,” we both cry at the same time, tears flooding my vision as he pulls me against him.
“Wha—oh my—who did this?” he roars, my body flinching. “Sorry, no, don’t be scared of me. But who would do this?” he says to me, stuttering.
I wasn’t sure if he was talking to me or not, or maybe he was just in shock, rambling because he was nervous.
But before I could find out, My body shuts off as I pass out in the mate of my dreams’ arms, Layla finally relaxing as the world around us goes into darkness.
--
I wake up with a sense of loss. I panic, not knowing where I am. Machines are beeping, I am cold, I have no idea what is going on.
My heart pounds in my chest as I try to move, my body screams in pain. I’m blinded by a light as I try and remember what is going on.
The faster my heart rate beats the louder the beeping gets. I squint, lifting my head.
Just then the man of my dreams runs through the door. Realising I am dreaming I take a breath, relaxing as my breathing starts to level out.
“Are you ok!!!” He grabs my face. But to my shock sparks light up all over my body. Layla pushes forward as his touch wakes us up.
“That doesn’t normally happen,” I whisper to him.
He frowns. “What doesn’t?”
His voice is louder than usual. It was like velvet, smooth but strong, demanding but patient. The sound brought life to my ears, filling me with hope.
“In my dreams you didn’t feel sparky.”
Layla pushes forward, purring as she moves our head into his hands. He looks at me, puzzled. “You dreamed of me?”
“Am I not dreaming now?” I ask.
His eyebrow shoots up into the air as he lets out a chuckle, shaking his head. “Nope, I’m all real, babe.”
My mind is racing, trying to think of what he is talking about. What day was it? What happened? When did he get here? I had so many questions that I needed answers too, but every time I tried to ask, the sheer beauty of his face stunned me to silence.
“You’re not dreaming, Lilly. This is real, he is real,”
Layla tells me softly. Tears pool in my eyes as I take in every inch of his perfect face.
He is all man, ruggedly handsome. His messy hair was long, out of place where his fingers had slipped through his dark brown locks. It is scissor cut at the sides, giving definition to his sharp and chiselled jaw. The muscles in his cheeks ripple as he talks.
He must be 25/30 years old, clean shaven and so so beautiful. His dark long lashes frame his beautiful brown eyes. They hold wisdom, sparkling against the bright light, but the dark circles under his eyes had me worrying.
Was he ok? Why did he look so tired? So stressed?
He is tall, really tall, maybe 6ft 2/6ft 4. His large wide shoulders are perfectly proportioned to his huge muscular body. The black T-shirt he was wearing stretched over his body, fitting him far to snug for my liking.
A sense of jealousy overwhelms me as I see what every other female sees, simply put he was walking, talking perfection and the thought of anyone but me ogling him left a bad taste in my mouth.
My dreams have done him justice, but not even my subconscious could muster up the true beauty that stands before me.
I reach out to touch him, my hand connecting to his face, sparks lighting up my fingertips as I watch him, amazed that anyone could be this beautiful, shocked that he was made for little old me and fearful that I would never be worthy of such a hunk.
But as he closes his eyes at my touch, moaning, I can’t help the smile that spreads across my face.
I was stunned that I too could make him feel that same sense of peace and acceptance that he made me feel every time we touched.
dropping his head slightly, his breath fans my face.
My body goes to blubber as his sweet vanilla scent makes my mouth water, setting every nerve end in my body on fire. Filling me with need and a desire so strong it almost chokes me.
Layla pushes forward before I have the chance to stop her, her own strength overpowering my body easily, she grabs his face and slams our lips against his.
My eyes slam closed and my mind comes to life, every colour of the rainbow explodes behind my eyelids as our lips touch for the very first time.
We both freeze in shock, I was nervous he would reject us, but my body slowly relaxes as he busses me back.
My body immediately responds, my lips fit against his perfectly, made for each other, like it was always meant to be.
He moans as his tongue softly prods at my lips. My mouth opens just as he sweeps his tongue against my own. My body jolts to life when the sparks start in my mouth and spread throughout my body.
Our buss is amazing, all consuming as every painful sore muscle loosens, my body wrapping around his as I pull him towards me. All sense goes out the window at his touch.
“Achhhhhhhhhmmm.”
He starts to pull away but Layla isn’t having it, instead dragging him closer.
“Acccchhhhhhemmmmmmm.”
He pulls back only slightly, chuckling when I realise we are no longer alone but Layla continues to cling to him, not wanting to let him go.
“Babe, the doctor’s here to see you. Maybe we can pick this up when we are alone.” My face flushes red.
“Oh, sorry. I might have gotten a little carried away,”
Layla tells me, giggling. I roll my eyes at her. “A little? Jeez, I don’t even know his name,” I snap back as she cackles away in my head.
“I’m so sorry, I’m so embarrassed,” I whisper, my cheeks heating. He snorts, shaking his head. “Don’t be, I didn’t want to stop either.”
A girly giggle escapes my lips at the fact someone that bloody beautiful wanted to buss me. Just then the doctor walks over, smiling. “Don’t worry about it. I can’t say I blame you to be honest,” he tells my mate, winking. My mate growls, glaring at him. “Mine,” he snaps.
The doctor snorts, shaking his head as I blush again, bright red. Gosh, I can’t remember ever blushing this much before ever.
“What’s your first name?” the doctor asks.
“It’s Lilly, Lilly Morgan,” I say with a small smile. “And what pack are you from, Lilly?”
Oh, the pack! My dad’s going to kill me. I am meant to be helping them.
“Oh, fuckity balls!” I squeak, jumping up and looking around the room.
“Hey, wow, it’s ok! Stay calm, you’re ok here.” I shake my head, realising my clothes are covered in dry blood.
My mate runs his hand up and down my back gently. “Shhh, it’s ok, I promise.”
I take a breath, his touch calming both me and Layla. It almost makes me feel sedated as my entire body relaxes. “Um, I’m from Droim Mor pack,” I say nervously, afraid I will get in trouble.
“And what happened to you, Lilly?” I chew my bottom lip. What do I say? I look between them nervously.
“He is our mate. We can trust him.”
“But what will he do? What if dad turns him against us?”
She shakes her head. “No, no more thinking about him. We need to move on, Lilly, and our mate is the way out!”
“Lilly, it’s ok. They won’t hurt you ever again. But I need to know who hurt you, baby.” I look into his eyes and every fibre in my body believes what he says, but it is still extremely hard to admit it out loud.
“Myyy f-atherrr,” I whisper.
He lets out a sharp growl. My body tenses at the noise. I clench my eyes closed, taking a deep breath to calm my racing heart.
Suddenly the noise stops and his hands land on my back, calming me once again. “Sorry Lilly, I didn’t mean to scare you.”
He lifts my chin, his eyes meeting mine. “I won’t hurt you, I won’t ever hurt YOU.”
Every emotion possible passes through me at his words, my heart shattering as all the fear, the anxiety and depression all come crashing down as I sob into my hands. I had been holding it all back for years, only letting a little escape at a time.
But it felt like it was a dam that my mate pulled to pieces in a few short seconds, exposing the truth of the past, the pain that I had been through and the trauma that I would live with forever.
“It’s ok, he won’t hurt us,” Layla says softly, trying to comfort me.
“I know, but I can’t believe it’s over,” I tell her. He pulls me against his chest, running his hand up and down my back. “Shhhhh, it’s ok, I’ve got you now, babe.”
For some silly reason that makes me cry harder. Every pain, break, bruise, every time he raped me, hit me, kicked me. It all hits me, it all destroys me as I cry it all out. I felt like a weak little girl, being held together by a big strong man. Strangely, I didn’t hate it, in fact, I craved that strength, that safe space where I could fall apart and still be held together.
He was it, he was my everything, in these few short moments, he has given me a safe haven, a home in his arms.
“I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry I scared you, I’m so sorry I wasn’t there. But I am now, and nobody will ever hurt you again,” he tells me, rubbing calming circles up and down my back.
I pull back, wiping my face as I shake my head. “It’s not on you, he did this, not you.” I use his shirt to wipe my tears.
He chuckles, watching me as I pull myself together.
When I’m done sobbing like a big baby he lifts my chin and he places a gentle buss against my lips.
“Ok, Lilly, I need you to lie back so I can check you over,”
the doctor says, pulling me from my thoughts.I smile, lying back as he comes to my side.
My mate whose name is still a mystery glares at him. He watches as he lifts my top to check my body. My mate’s eyes widen as he gasps, looking to the doctor and back to me.
He starts to poke and prod at me. Nothing hurts all that much. I look like bad but I no longer feel like bad. Layla turns away from me, going to the back of my head and shutting me out.
“I don’t know how, Lilly, but your ribs are already healed.”
“Yeah, they don’t hurt either.” He frowns, looking to my mate. His face is like stone as the doctor helps me sit up.
Other than feeling a little dizzy I feel ok. He checks me over, shining lights in my eyes, tapping my reflexes and checking the wound on my head.
“Other than a concussion and a lot of bruising, your body has somehow healed. I’m not sure how, but it has.” He starts writing stuff down on a chart. “If you promise to take it easy I don’t see why you can’t take her home today.”
I look to my mate awkwardly. His face lights up as he smiles down at me. “I think I can see to that.”
I sigh in relief. The thought of going back near that monster makes me feel physically ill. “Of course it goes without saying that you stay far away from your father.”
“Don’t worry, if I have my way she won’t ever see his dirty rotten face again,” he snaps.
I smirk up at him as he turns, lifting a bag and placing it on the bed beside me. “I had my people run out and grab you some clothes.”
“People? You have people?” I ask, chewing my lip. He nods. “Yes, we have people now,” he answers.
“Do you need help getting changed, Lilly—” Before the doctor even has a chance to answer, our mate growls, his wolf pushing forward and grabbing him by the scruff of the neck. “Mine!” The doctor puts his hands in the air.
“I meant the nurses! You’re really big,” he wheezes, catching his hand. Satisfied with that answer, our mate drops him. “If my mate needs help I will help her,” he snaps impatiently.
“Yes, I think we have established that, jeez.” He pats his shirt down, clearly amused by the entire thing as I take into a fit of giggles, shaking my head.
“So not to make things awkward but would you mind telling me your name?” I ask, scratching the back of my head. The doctor bursts out laughing at the fact.
My mate smirks, looking at me. “Drake, Drake Moon.”
“Seven, double O seven,” the doctor teases. Drake glares at him as I laugh, shaking my head. “You realise it’s Bond, James Bond, right?” I ask, his face flushes red.
Drake snorts, laughing with me.
“Yeah, I think it’s time for Mr Bond over here to get out, get out right now,” he snaps at the poor doctor.
I am so busy laughing I don’t even care that that was totally rude. “Just trying to lighten the mood, dude, but whatever. Good luck, Lilly.” He winks as he leaves, closing the door behind him.
Drake watches him go. Then he turns back to me. “Did he just call me dude?” He says it like it tastes funny, screwing his face up as I laugh even harder. He chuckles, pulling clothes out of the bag for me.
“We didn’t know your size, so Fiona got you one of those long dresses with a cardigan.” He pulls out a black maxi dress with a yellow cardigan. It is simple but pretty.
I pull off my shirt and hand it to him. His eyes widen as he freezes, his eyes on my chest. I take the dress from his hand and I pull it over my head, smirking at him. “You ok over there?” I ask.
He shakes himself a little, his eyes returning to my eyes as his face flares slightly. “Yeah, sorry. I just wasn’t prepared,” he says, clearing his throat.
I chuckle, grabbing the cardigan. I pull it on. He hands me a brush next, so I pull it through my tangled web of hair, giving up and pulling it into a messy bun on my head.
“What time is it? I’m starving.”
“Breakfast.” I’m surprised by that. “How long have I been sleeping?” He checks the time on his watch. “I found you at 3pm yesterday. It’s seven now, so 16 hours.”
I shake my head. “He started the beating at around seven yesterday morning. I must have passed out until I walked into you.”
His jaw ticks, closing his eyes. “I’ve never seen anything like it before. I don’t know how you were even conscious and I definitely don’t know how you’re healed right now.”
I shrug, wondering that too. Layla is still locking me out so she is zero help. He passes me my Converses next so I pull them on and touch my toes to the floor, cringing as the muscles in my legs ache. He catches my hips as I take a step, my head going woozy as I grab hold of his arms.
“Wow,” I snap, losing my balance.
He scoops me up. “Yeah, you’re not walking anywhere like that. I’ll just have to carry you,” he smirks, planting a soft buss against my lips. I smile against his lips, relaxing into his arms as he surrounds me, making my tiny frame feel so safe.
“Do you want to eat in the room or in the dining hall with my—no, sorry, our people?” I wish I knew what ‘our people’ meant.
Layla comes forward smiling at me. “Do it! I want to meet them,” she tells me encouragingly. “The dining hall, please.”
He smiles, grabbing my phone off the side table and he hands it to me. I check it as we walk. I have so many messages from Emma. Feeling guilty, I open them immediately.
‘Hey how’s the summit?’
‘Hey where are you?’
‘Lilly you’re doing that really annoying thing that you do, text me back please!!’
‘Oh for heaven's sake you better have a good excuse for not answering me’
“Who is that?” Drake asks, pushing his head between me and my phone to look at my messages. I giggle. “It’s my best friend Emma. Sorry, only friend. She just met her mate and moved to the Blood Moon pack and she gets crazy if I don’t text her back.”
He smirks, pursing his lips. “What does she think of it? Blood Moon I mean?”
I shrug. “She seems to like it ok, said the people are nice. The alpha is a little scary but the pack is better than the one we came from.”
He nods his head. “Why is he scary?” he asks, screwing up his nose.
“I don’t know. She said when he walks into the room he shuts most conversations down. He only really socialises with his ranked members.” He shrugs.
“Maybe he only socialises with his ranked members because that’s all the people in the world he can trust. Blood Moon’s a big pack, a lot of people would be out for his job.” I nod my head. “I hear that. Up until now Emma is the only person in the world that I can trust.”
He smiles, not adding anything more as I type a message back.
‘Hey sorry, I met my mate and I didn’t have my phone. But I’m ok, I can ring you later when things settle down’
“If you trust her, why are you lying to her?” I shrug.
“I don’t want her to worry about something she can’t change. She’s all the way there and I’m all the way here, plus I’m ok really.”
“You’re ok? Lilly you’re black and blue. You have a concussion. You are the definition of not ok.” I smirk at him.
Layla purses her lips. “Maybe he has a point,” she says thoughtfully. “I am, yeah I’m black and blue, but I’m not in pain. I found you. To me I’m ok.”
He smiles at me. “You’re really rather remarkable, aren’t you?” I blush as he drops his head in the crook of my neck, sniffing me. “And you smell so good!”
He nips my neck with his teeth, sending a shiver straight down my spine. I gasp at the feel of his lips against my skin. It feels like I have just found my heart and soul. Now it’s having a party, celebrating the fact that we are finally back together.
“So these people that are ours, who are they?” I ask, trying to distract myself from the flooding of my arousal flowing through my body. I definitely don’t want the entire lobby smelling my arousal. “Just our people,” he says, heading towards the dining room.
“But why are they our people?” He purses his lips, thinking. As we walk, everyone in our path steps out of it. It is like they are grapes shrivelling up and turning into raisins.
--
Reaching the dining hall the entire place goes quiet. I look behind us, wondering what they are afraid of. He snorts, chuckling.
“What are they so afraid of?” I snap, making him laugh, shaking his head. A table not far in front of us all stand up, grinning as we approach. But by now you could hear a pin drop. The entire place has completely shut down.
“Seriously, why are they staring at us? It’s kind of creepy.” He just continues to chuckle as two men and a lady smile. “Luna, it’s so good to meet you!” I freeze, looking up at Drake.
“Why is he laughing, why are you calling me Luna, and what is wrong with all these people? Have you never seen an overgrown giant carry a broken girl before?”
I snap louder, glaring at the crowd as Drake throws his head back, howling. His friends look between each other, then back at us. “I can’t—you—tell—her, I can’t,” he splutters, taking a seat with me on his knee.
The girl starts to giggle, shaking her head. “We are calling you Luna because Drake is our alpha, me and Ben are his betas, and Mark is his gamma.”
My jaw drops as I look back at Drake. “They are all staring at him because they are scared of him. He is Alpha Drake Moon of the Blood Moon pack.”
My face falls as I gasp. Turning around I slap his shoulder. “You big prick, you let me go on and on.”
He howls in laughter again as the crowd around us gasp at me hitting him.
“Oh shut up. He’s my mate, I’m allowed to hit him.” I glare at an old pair sitting behind us as Drake takes a deep steadying breath.
“I swear that was amazing,” Drake says as he finally stops laughing at me. He leans forward, bussing my lips as I glare at him.
“Oh come on, don’t be grumpy. It was a little funny.” I smirk, trying to hide my smile. Lifting my fingers I pinch them together. “Ok, maybe a little.”
He pecks my lips again, pulling back, and he buries his head in the crook of my neck, sniffing in my scent. His body relaxes immediately as I look back at ‘our people’.
“So I’m a luna? Are you sure you want me as a luna?”
I ask, screwing up my face.
“Oh we want you as a luna! You just hit the alpha. I love you already and there is no give backs. We are keeping you,” the one called Ben says.
Fiona nods her head in agreement. “Agreed, we are keeping you.”
“I also think you’re awesome,” Mark adds.
Drake snorts. “You’ve never called me any of those things.”
“That’s because you’re a big grump. Luna Lilly is already winning,” Fiona says. Drake flips her the bird. “That’s your birthday present going into the furnace when I get home.”
She snorts, rolling her eyes. “Oh please, I have your card in my back pocket. I don’t need no half assed attempt at a gift when I can just buy my own, thank you very much,”
she snaps, opening her menu and winking at me. I giggle as Drake rolls his eyes.
“So are we ever going to get to the part where you tell us who did that to you, Luna?” My body tenses immediately. All thoughts of my father have all but disappeared. But as I shake off the feeling and go to open my mouth I hear a growl rumbling through the dining hall.
One so familiar my entire body runs cold. My heart rate accelerates as all the breath leaves my lungs. I scrunch my eyes closed as my frame starts to tremble in fear, tears pooling in my eyes. Waiting for the hit that usually came after that terrifying sound. |
