Thoughts on today throwback to an earlier understanding of the word &quot;Acknowledge.&quot; We have all at least once read Proverbs 3:6: Acknowledge the Lord in all your ways, and he will direct your steps. Upon taking the time to do a word study on the word Acknowledge it opened up a heavenly world of understanding. I was glad I did the study. The word Acknowledge means To act as if you know. To recognize the rights, authority, or status of. To express gratitude or obligation for. To take notice of. But here is the biggy for me to recognize as genuine or valid. Avow to declare assuredly, to declare openly, bluntly, and without shame. To admit the existence, reality, or truth of. To recognize as being valid or having force or power--Free dictionary. I told the story many times about how my daughter would greet me after work and acknowledge my presence as important and potent. This wonderful greeting would cause my heart to explode with joy. I thought, &quot;I&#039;m wanted and needed, she loves me, and I&#039;m assured of it.&quot; Why? Because she acknowledged me. Her acknowledgment led to presents and gifts for her. She can only give me love, but I&#039;m rich with things I can share, such as candy and pop. OK, really sweet fruit and rollups, but you get the idea. Because of her great enthusiasm for my presence, this created an environment full of joy flowing with gifts of love. So, being an evil man gave her my best gifts for that moment. I took great joy as she ate all the candy. I hugged her, kissed her, talked for a while, and played. This occasion established the truth of the word. If I, an evil man, can give good gifts to my daughter, how much more will the Father give to us, who is far richer, loving, and able to give. <br /> <br /> This great truth is valid. You can see it in her actions and mine. You can see it in the dictionary. Henceforth, the word acknowledge is proven to be valid, so we ask what does &quot;Valid&quot; mean? Well, it means having legal efficacy or force. This means having legal force executed with proper legal authority and formalities. This is why we obey contract checks written on a piece of paper; we consider them valid. The word Valid has its roots in Middle French or Medieval Latin, Middle French &quot;Valide&quot; From the Latin Validus, meaning strong and potent--interesting how this lines up. My daughter gives honor to whom she can see; we give honor to whom we cannot; it appears to be an exercise of faith without even knowing it. Valid: Having such force as to compel serious attention and usually acceptance--sounds familiar. When we think of something valid, we think that it is convincing. The word convincing suggests a power to overcome doubt and opposition. This easily leads to the word &quot;Efficacious,&quot; which means having the power to produce the desired effect. So we looked at 3 words: Acknowledge, Validity, and efficacious. She acknowledged and made me valid in her life, producing an efficacious effect. Wow, I can&#039;t wait to practice this study.
