Her heart no longer pounded when she saw him.
Ronald bent down to get closer to her face. "Do you really want a divorce?"
Kate wanted to step back. As he drew closer, she did not feel any warmth from his tone.
"I had asked Sam to hand you the divorce papers. All you have to do is sign the papers." Kate forced herself to look into his eyes. Ronald squinted judgmentally.
"You're acting fine, as though this is nothing for you." Ronald straightened himself. Kate opened her mouth to say something, but before she could say anything, Ronald swiftly took her in his arms and into the mansion.
He went upstairs, kicked the door of the master bedroom open, and tossed Kate onto the bed.
"Hey!!" Kate shouted, to no avail. Ronald leaned over and held her hands above her head. Kate's summer attire was so thin that she could feel his body strongly pressed against hers. Kate pursed her lips and looked at Ronald, alarmed.
Ronald glanced through the room and then looked at her defensive face, leaned toward her lips and said "you make it look like you are determined to divorce."
Ronald lips brushed against Kate as she struggled. Ronald felt the softness of her lips and wanted more, and he asked for more.
"No, let go of me. This is not right."
With the impending divorce on her mind, she continued to struggle and clenched her teeth. Ronald groaned and stopped pursuing Kate.
"You are still Mrs Scott, my wife."
His hands still gripped hers. "I have my right to say no," replied Kate stubbornly.
"No," Ronald repeated what she said as if it were a joke.
He moved his hands to her chin. "More reverse psychology" asked Ronald when he suddenly pressed his lips against her, as if doing so would make Kate tell the truth, Kate pulled her mouth away.
"To with you and your reverse psychology. Let go of me." She tried her best to push him off of her, but he wasn't budging.
A slap echoed in the room and Kate froze as Ronald's face started to swell.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Wanna listen more? download our App and check more! Yes | 2024-03-28 11:46 | active | 365 | 0 | 1508249993367036 | 🔥🔥 Click to Read 👉🏻👉🏻 | I stormed into his bar and told this arrogant prick to keep his children away from mine.
My daughter Maria means more to me than anything in this world. I knew he was the leader of a notorious motorcycle gang before I walked in, but I didn't care.
I realized too late that entering his bar was a huge mistake. He's been everywhere since then.
————————

ANNA
It’s a warm, sunny day. I tip my head back to feel the rays on my face. I love my little garden— it’s a sun trap. “Mommy,” whispers Malia in my ear.
I smile but keep my eyes closed. “Yes, sweetie?”
“When I was at nursery today, Ziggy asked me to peck him.” My eyes shoot open and fall on the innocent face of my five-year-old daughter. “He wants me to be his . . . ” She taps her pink, heart-shaped lips that are the exact replica of my own. “Old lady. What does that mean?”
“You are far too young to be pecking anyone, little miss,” I say, and she giggles. “I hope you told him that.” She shrugs her shoulders and the pink strap of her dungarees slips down. “Sweetie, I really wish you’d make some new friends. You and Ziggy spend an awful lot of time together and it’s important that you make other friends.”
“But I only like Ziggy and he only likes me,” she says innocently.
I hear the front door open and close. “I brought cakes for little miss trouble and beverage for us to get started,” yells Eva from inside the house.
“You better have your hip in that shower,” she adds. I check my watch.
Christ, is it that time already? I push myself to stand and brush the grhip from my hip as I sweep Malia into my arms and take her inside.
“Sorry, I lost track of time,” I explain. “I’m going right now. You look amazing, by the way.”
I shower quickly and dress in a thigh-length summer dress. It’s flowy from the waist down and looks perfect with my heeled boots. I apply minimal make-up and get downstairs just as Eva’s mom arrives. “Thanks for watching Malia, Esther. She’s been excited since she came home from nursery today,” I say with a smile. As if to prove my point, Malia races into the hallway and throws herself into Esther’s arms.
“It’s not a problem. You know I love to spend time with her. Now, come and tell me what things you and Ziggy have been up to this week,” says Esther fondly as she carries Malia into the living room.
As it happens, most of the bars along Queen’s Road are busy, and by the time we stumble into The Copper Trap, we’re both feeling the beverage buzz.
“That’s nonsense. His dad is a biker. He wears the leather jacket with the thingy on the back,” I say.
“The club badge?” asks Eva.
“Whatever it is,” I dismiss. “One of the other moms at school told me it’s a gang. He’s basically in a biker gang and his kid is out of control.”
“You know you shouldn’t believe everything you hear. Do you think the same mom said nice things about you when she found out who Malia’s dad really was?” she asks, raising a perfectly plucked brow at me. I scowl, but she continues regardless. “You know more than anyone not to listen to gossip because it’s usually wrong.”
I scoff. “The gossip doesn’t do Reggie justice. He’s way worse than any story. Besides, I’m pretty sure none of the parents at Malia’s school know
about Reggie being her dad.”
Eva smirks. “Yeah right. Sounds like they love to gossip, if you ask me.” She sighs. “If you’re really worried, then speak to the teacher. Maybe she can try and encourage Malia to play with different kids, but I really think she’ll be heartbroken without Ziggy. She’s really taken with him.” I roll my eyes. Eva is a hopeless romantic.
“If we have to move again, they’ll be two very sad kids. They shouldn’t get so attached. Don’t you think it’s weird to be this attached at their age?
Maybe I should go straight to his dad and tell him what his kid’s been saying?” I suggest. “Ask him to speak to Ziggy about making new friends?”
Eva shakes her head. “Oh, I don’t think that’s a good idea.” But my mind is made up and the spirits makes me slightly braver than I’d normally feel. I drain my drink and stand. Eva looks panicked. “You mean now?” she whisper-hisses and I nod.
“His gang drinks at The Windsor.”
“Please stop calling it a gang. It’s not how they like to be seen. It’s a club, and if you call it a gang, he might get mad,” says Eva with a hint of hysteria in her voice.
We walk to The Windsor pub and stand outside. It doesn’t look anything special, just like a regular bar. Nobody ever goes in there unless they are part of the bike gang. It’s a fact everyone just seems to know without anyone having to say it.
A few men are standing around outside chatting and smoking cigarettes.
“Christ, let’s hurry up and get out of here.” I take her arm and pull her through the bar. I’ve never seen so many men wearing the same leather jacket before. It makes it harder to spot the man I want, but when I do, he takes my breath away. It’s not the first time that’s happened. When I first saw him at the school gates, I thought my panties would melt off and jump in his pocket. They were desperate to come off. He doesn’t come to the school often, so I don’t get to appreciate his hotness on a daily basis.
He throws his head back and a deep, rumbling laugh escapes his gorgeous mouth. His tall, six-foot something frame is well-hidden with him sitting on a barstool, but I’ve got that silhouette burned into my brain. His
broad shoulders and bulging arms are covered in tattoos and there’s something about his light blue eyes that gives him a permanently smouldering look. Eva nudges me forward and I realize I’m standing still, just staring at him.
“You know he’s staring right back at you wondering what you’re gawking at, right?” she whispers into my ear. I swallow the dry lump in my throat and move closer to him. The guys he’s with also turn to stare at us, and I’m pretty sure the conversation in this place just dropped down to almost whispering.
“Hi,” I croak, and he stares at me blankly. I didn’t expect him to remember me. He’s probably never paid any attention to us mere mortals who lust after him at the playground. In fact, I think in the whole three months Malia’s been going to that nursery, I’ve seen him three times max.
“I’m Malia’s mom.”
“Pres, she ain’t about to drop a kid on you, is she?” asks one of the men, laughing.
“Shut up, Tiny,” mutters Ziggy’s dad. “Lady, what do you want?”
My mouth opens and closes a few times. What did I want again?
“Malia,” Eva whispers into my ear to give me the reminder I was silently begging for.
“Malia,” I blurt out. He begins to look annoyed. “She plays with Ziggy.”
A look of realization phipes over his face and he stands up. I hear Eva gasp at his sheer size.
“What did he do?” he asks.
“Nothing,” I say, shaking my head back and forth. “I think they should have other friends,” I blurt out. I’m getting this all wrong, and he studies me silently for a few seconds. He’s understandably confused by my ramblings.
“Come,” he says and sighs. He takes me by the hand, and I stare down in awe at how his giant paw covers mine completely. He pulls me through the bar to a quiet table away from the crowd of bikers. I look back at Eva.
One of the other men is talking to her as she looks over at me helplessly.
Ziggy’s dad practically shoves me to sit down at the table and then lowers himself opposite me. “Start talking.”
“Ziggy and Malia always play together. Today, he asked her to peck him,” I blurt out. “He wants her to be his old lady?” I say it as a question
because I’m not quite sure what that part means but I’m guessing marriage.
He laughs— really laughs, throwing his head back again. If it wasn’t at my child’s expense, I’d be mesmerized by the way his throat bobs up and down or the way his tattoos cover up under his chin and are partially hidden by his well-groomed beard.
“Oh legend.” He chuckles, but when he sees I’m not laughing, he coughs to clear his throat and straightens up in his chair. “So, now you don’t want them to play together?”
“No,” I say firmly. “I think they should make other friends.”
He nods his head slowly. “Because my kid’s not good enough for yours?”
“I didn’t mean . . . it’s just that . . . ” I’m stuttering helplessly.
“Oh, I know what you meant. My kid’s not good enough to play with Reggie Miller’s daughter,” he sneers. At the mention of Reggie’s name, I begin to breathe faster, the colour draining from my cheeks. I grip the edge of my chair to stop me from running out of here. “You thought I didn’t know who my kid was hanging out with? Oh, I know. I know everything.
So, while you stand in that playground with your head up your hip, I know all about you and Reggie and the things he’s done.” He leans back and folds his arms over his chest. “Now, you listen to me, lady. I’m not overjoyed by my kid’s choice in friends either, but for some reason, he worships your daughter, and unlike you, I trust him to make his own decisions. You want to break your kid’s heart, then be my guest. Now, get outta my bar.”
I stand on wobbly legs, hardly believing that he’s speaking to me like this when he doesn’t even know me. I turn to walk away but then something takes over me.
I vowed never to be walked all over again, so I find myself turning to face him. “I wanted them to make other friends because I have to move a lot thanks to Reggie. But I’m sure you knew that already. I thought it wouldn’t be very good for your son to be so invested in my daughter because when we have to leave again, he’ll be heartbroken. I’m glad your son doesn’t have your poor manners.”
I turn on my heel and march over to Eva. She smiles, looking relaxed, and hands me a drink. “We have to leave,” I say.
“No, come and meet Rock.” She smiles. The man who stopped us earlier at the door offers a goofy grin. “And Lake,” she adds, pointing to the
man at Rock’s side. “We’ve put some money in the jukebox. Rock love’s rock music,” she states proudly and then falls into a fit of giggles brought on by the spirits.
“Eva, we really need to leave.”
I feel him approaching. It’s like a sensation washes over me and I have to fight the urge to shudder. I feel the heat of his body against my back, and when he leans closer to my ear, I gasp.
“You’re a feisty little thing,” he whispers.
“I’m leaving. I’m just trying to get my friend to say goodbye to these gentlemen and then we’ll be off,” I explain.
“No rush,” he mutters. “Stick around. Maybe I was a little harsh back there.”
“See, he said we can stay.” Eva smiles and holds out her hand for him to shake. “I’m Eva, Anna’s best friend.”
“Riggs,” he answers. I realise this is the first time I’ve heard his name.
He didn’t bother to introduce himself back there. Even the moms at the playground refer to him as ‘Ziggy’s dad’.
“Ziggy’s cute,” she compliments, and this seems to ease the annoyance that surrounds Riggs’ eyes. “I only met him a couple of times. Malia adores him.”
“Rock, this one’s Reggie Miller’s woman,” says Riggs. My face instantly goes a deep shade of red with embarrhipment. Eva feels the anxiety radiating from me at the mere mention of my ex.
“I’m not his woman,” I utter.
“Oh yeah,” Rock says with a grin. “And he knows you’re drinking in these parts, does he?”
“I’m not his woman,” I repeat.
“Maybe we should go,” says Eva, grabbing hold of my hand.
“Better still, let me call him. I’m sure he’d love to hear from me,” says Rock, pulling out his cell. My hand dashes towards it, snatching it away from him. I’m shaking from fear and panic. Rock’s mouth falls open, not quite believing what I just did, which makes two of us.
“He doesn’t know I’m here,” I mutter. “You can’t tell him that you saw me.”
Rock moves closer and my fear deepens. “I’ll tell him whatever I like.
He ain’t around here.”
I glance at Riggs, who’s smirking at the interactions unfolding before him. “Do you let all your gang members talk to women?” I snap.
“It’s not a gang, sweetheart. What your boyfriend has is a gang. What I have is a club,” says Riggs with ease.
“The only difference I see is this gang wears leather jackets and his gang wears suits,” I say boldly.
“It was a bad idea to come here,” mutters Eva. “Let’s get out of here.”
RIGGS
I don’t know what just came over me. Something about Malia’s mom riles every cell in my body. Who does she think she is turning up in my bar and lecturing me about my kid? Looking down her nose at us? I shake my head and take a long drag on my smoking.
“Do you peck Reggie with that mouth?” Lake smirks.
“Let’s just go,” says her friend on a sigh. “They’d never understand.”
“Understand that a mob princess had the nerve to come here? I understand perfectly.” I move towards them, and if I’m not mistaken, Anna has a heated look in her eyes. “Maybe I’ll rock up to your place, see what you’re like without that beverage running through your blood.” I run my
finger down her arm. Goosebumps break out on her skin and she sucks in a breath. I smirk.
“I’m not telling you where I live,” she mutters.
“I don’t need you to. See ya around, sweetheart.” I turn back to the guys, grinning with satisfaction. This woman will regret putting herself on my radar.
I take Ziggy’s backpack from the kitchen counter. “You’re taking him to school?” asks my mom. I note the shock in her voice.
“Yep,” I say, not wanting to get into it.
“Yay!” Ziggy grins. “Can we go on the bike?” he asks. I nod and he fist pumps the air.
“No,” says my mom firmly. “Finn, you know the school will call and question whether the bike is safe. It isn’t worth the bother. Just take my car.” She throws the keys and I catch them.
We get into the car and I fasten Ziggy in. “Daddy, why does Granny call you Finn?”
“Because that’s my real name,” I say. “And because she’s my mommy, she’s allowed to use that name.”
“I like Riggs better,” he says.
“You’re lucky because you get to call me by a name that nobody else can call me,” I say. “Daddy.” This satisfies him and he smiles. “Now let’s get you to school.”
I stand uncomfortably in the playground. I hate the school run because I stand out. All the other adults here are mainly moms and they stare at me cautiously. They pull their kids closer to their sides like they don’t quite trust me.
I check my watch again and sigh. There’s still five minutes to go. Ziggy suddenly screeches and takes off towards the gates. He crashes into a little blonde and wraps her into a hug. Her little curls bounce from the impact and she giggles. “Malia, my daddy’s real name is Finn,” he announces, taking her hand and pulling her towards me. “He brought me to school today.”
Malia stops in front of me. She tips her head back and stares right at me.
She has her mom’s light green eyes, which reminds me . . . I glance towards the gate as a harhiped-looking Anna bustles in. She has shades covering he
r eyes and I suspect she’s feeling hungover. “Malia,” she bristles, and the little girl turns towards her. “I told you not to run ahead,” she adds.
The little girl pouts. “But I saw Ziggy,” she says in a little voice. “And look! His daddy brought him to school today. He’s so big!” I smile down at the little version of Anna.
Anna stands a few feet away and stares at the closed clhiproom door.
She glances at me and lifts her shades slightly to meet my eyes. I like that she’s showing me no fear. “Are you talking to me?” she asks coolly.
I make a show of looking around at the space around us. The other moms are giving me a wide berth. “Looks that way.”
“My head is just fine, thank you.” Her tone is cold and impatient.
“I thought we could grab a coffee and discuss last night?” I ask.
“I don’t think so,” she mutters.
“You not so brave now that you’re sober?” I ask.
The doors open, and Ziggy’s teacher smiles warmly at me. She’s had a thing for me for the last year, since Ziggy first started in her clhip. “Oh, how lovely to see you, Finn.” She smiles. “Would you like to stay and look through some of Ziggy’s work? He’s been doing so well.”
“I have a coffee date with Anna,” I say, tipping my head in Anna’s direction. The teacher straightens slightly and looks Anna up and down.
“He doesn’t have a coffee date with me,” mutters Anna. Her face flushes red with embarrhipment.
“I do,” I correct. I hand Ziggy his backpack and he runs inside, pulling Malia with him. I turn to Anna and smile. “You can either walk outta here with me or I can embarrhip you in front of all these judgy bitches.”
“You wouldn’t dare,” she growls.
“Oh baby.” I smirk. “Please don’t wave the red rag. You don’t know me well enough to challenge me.”
Anna squares her shoulders and glances around at some of the other moms who are pecking their kids goodbye at the door. “Fine,” she mutters.
I follow her out of the gates and point her in the direction of a nearby café. | LEARN_MORE | https://b.ficsworld.com/ad/Zmljd29ybGQvMTMzNjE2LzI | 178740541994567 | Fics101 | https://facebook.com/61554382746013 | 113 | 1 | 808,973,914,600,555 | 2024-03-26 02:00 | person_profile | eligible | 0 | 0 | NONE | 0 | 0 | 1 | 1 | Learn more | 0 | Fics101 | 120210129950060460 | b.ficsworld.com | NONE | video | https://b.ficsworld.com/ad/Zmljd29ybGQvMTMzNjE2LzIwMjQwMzI2MTYyMzIwL3BhZ2U=?adid={{ad.id}} | 2024-03-26 03:30 | https://scontent-iad3-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/431614116_1141694543669205_5292443574526417776_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_s60x60&_nc_cat=105&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=c1F-nl6-2swAX9RcLs6&_nc_ht=scontent-iad3-2.xx&oh=00_AfBORhGLLhXhroFmEWGr7ooSGA4PhMDD5Rqipcf27P4ciQ&oe=660A8A86 | person_profile | 0 | Fics101 | https://scontent-iad3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/433897910_1133784151371761_8398827398613803537_n.jpg?_nc_cat=107&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=4mUTwr2Uc3cAX-ibX1s&_nc_ht=scontent-iad3-1.xx&oh=00_AfBEHbxGYkchW3NzoLd_co4KOi0-o9sCdyEht6MtPLVmHQ&oe=6609A0EB | 0 | 3 | Fics101 | 0 | 0 | 2024-03-26 02:00 | View Edit Delete

One last time before you get married, you know.”
“ONE LAST TIME? How many times was it, huh? Tell me how long this has been going on!”
“Umm...let me think…” Ariana answered smugly.
Brooke moved so fast, she herself didn’t know when she charged at Ariana, punching her in the face.
“Shut the hell up. You...you are the culprit.”
————————

Brooke stood in front of the mirror as she looked at herself in her wedding gown. It was a silk gown, with an open boatneck and short sleeves. The gown was embroidered with small beautiful flowers studded with stones. Complementing the gown, she wore her mother’s diamond necklace with long earrings. Her tiara was a traditional one, gifted to her by her mother-in-law. Brooke admired herself in the mirror for a while. She couldn't believe that she was about to get married to the man of her dreams. Greg Wilson, the owner of Baxter Auto Pvt. Ltd., the biggest factory in her town.
“You look great, sister mine,” Meredith Johnson ,her sister, gushed from behind her. “Greg is the luckiest man alive to have landed you as his partner.”
“Shut it, Maddy,” Brooke muttered, fixing her hair once again.
“Oh please, you know Greg worships the very land you walk on. He’s a goner.”
“Ugh...you’re exaggerating. Besides, we haven’t even…” Brooke blushed as she thought about it.
“Oh sweet lord, please tell me you’ve had sx,” Meredith exclaimed, and Brooke blushed a deep shade of red. She never knew what to say to her sister’s very outward observations. Maddy never knew when to shut up.
“Of course I’ve had sx…” Brooke glared at her sister, offended at the accusation, even though she had never gone for full-on penetrative sx, yet. Well, don’t blame her, she was waiting for her one and only; her special someone. And apparently, that one and only was Greg Wilson. Tonight, the dry spell was going to end.
“But…” Meredith prompted, waving her hand in a gesture so as to encourage Brooke to continue.
“I’ve never … you know,” Brooke replied, making an awkward gesture by hand to imply she was still untouched in many ways.
“Holy !” Meredith exclaimed.
“Hey, I was waiting for…”
“Your True Mate.” Meredith completed his sentence, still pretty much stunned by her sister’s revelation. She knew her sister was a hopeless romantic and a stubborn bimbo, but she didn’t know she held the idea of “Mates for life” so seriously. It was kind of cute though. “Man...I have to commend Greg’s patience.”
“Maddy..” Brooke gritted out, questioning her sanity as to why she was having this conversation with her sister.
“Three years, Brooke. For three years you’ve held back and the man never complained. To top it off, he asked you to marry him. Wow. “
“Hey, it’s not like I’ve never done anything. We have been...intimate.”
“Intimate...wow, you really sound like a fourteen-year-old teenage girl. “
“Ugh...why do you always harass me? Why can’t it be Neil helping me?” Brooke whined.
“Oh, cool it with the whining. Don’t worry. When he gets a serious girlfriend I’ll have the same talk with him, too,” Meredith answered gleefully and headed off towards the hall.
Brooke was pacing the small room, killing time before she had to show up at the altar.
“Hey, Brooke, let's get going,” Neil, her big brother, said, as he dragged Brooke by her arm. He wasn't quite the patient one.
“Wait...I gotta…”
“Brooke, it’s okay to be nervous. Remember, the guy loves you. You love him. He’s not going anywhere.” Neil reminded her.
“I know, but,” Brooke looked thoughtful as she chewed on his lower lip. “I gotta fix my gown..” She dashed from there towards the private restroom that was to the left of the hall. All day she had felt restless like something was missing or something was falling apart. She couldn’t exactly explain what was going on in her mind but she was uneasy. She didn’t know why but there was a twisted feeling in her gut that something was going to go wrong. She couldn't put a finger on it. Just as she was about to open the door, she heard voices from inside. Brooke leaned in and carefully listened.
Someone was grunting and...shouting?
Brooke was confused. Why would someone while they were in restroom? She was about to knock on the door when she heard someone yelling from inside. Afraid that something might have happened, she hastily opened the door and was shocked to her core. One of Greg’s assistants, Ariana Hawkins, was undressed and was kis sing her fiance, while the said fiance was buried deep inside the woman. Greg had Ariana perched atop the counter in between the basin and the wall. Brooke couldn’t believe her eyes. She stood frozen on the spot. She blinked and shook her head trying to deny whatever was happening in front of her. But no matter how much she tried, the scene remained the same. She wasn’t dreaming then, it dawned on her, no matter how much she wanted. Her heart stuttered and her breathing was erratic. This was reality. Her boyfriend of three years, Greg Wilson, to whom she was about to get married, was having sx with his assistant, Ariana Hawkins!
“HOW DARE YOU, YOU ?” Brooke shouted, knowing people in the hall could very well hear her.
Greg and Ariana looked at her like deer caught in the headlights.
“Brooke…” Greg scrambled to get away from Ariana, pulling his pants back up.
“I trusted you. HOW COULD YOU?” Brooke stepped inside, yelling at the top of her voice, unable to take in the betrayal.
“Brooke...hush. Not so loud. My folks are sitting out there. Not to mention the entire town. I’ve got a reputation to maintain.” Greg gritted his teeth as she talked to her in a hushed tone.
Brooke couldn’t believe the nerve of this man. “Your reputation? YOUR REPUTATION? You prick, you cheated on me and you’re giving me lessons on reputation?”
“Brooke…”
“Don’t Brooke me you liar. You’re just another scum who can’t keep his shaft in his pants, instead of parading it all over town.”
This time Ariana interrupted, “Brooke, come on. It was just a fun goodbye. One last time before you get married, you know.” She smirked, not giving a second thought to the fact that she was standing undressed in the restroom with her boss and his soon to be wife.
Brooke’s eyebrows hit her hairline, she couldn’t believe this. Her mouth went dry. “ONE LAST TIME? How many times was it, huh? Tell me how long this has been going on!”
“Umm...let me think…” Ariana answered smugly. She never liked Brooke and she always wondered what Greg found in this woman.
Brooke moved so fast, she herself didn’t know when she charged at Ariana, punching her in the face. “Shut the up. You...you are the culprit.” Ariana was knocked down on the floor, shouting in pain, hands covering her nose. Brooke was about to punch the woman again when Greg held her by her arm.
“That’s enough Brooke,” Greg yelled, trying to keep Brooke from attacking again.
“Don’t you touch me, you piece of .” Brooke pulled her arm back. “You prick, how could you?” She demanded. She had trusted this man with her great. To see him betrayed that trust was like a punch to the gut.
“It’s all your fault, Brooke. A man can only wait for so long. I had enough patience all these years. But…”
“Oh, so you’re saying you went behind my back and cheated on me just because I didn’t put out for you?” Brooke questioned, unable to fathom the faulty logic.
“Brooke…” Greg spoke, quite exasperated, but wasn’t able to complete his sentence as Brooke interrupted him.
“Shut the up. I can’t believe I was going to marry you,” Brooke said, her voice breaking a bit. She couldn’t even look at the man. Just the thought of standing near the man made her nauseous. She was disgusted with him. She walked out of the bathroom and straight into the hall when she heard Greg yelling after her.
“That’s just it, isn’t it? Throw a fit like the bimbo that you are and walk out. That’s exactly your style.” Greg rushed after her.
“How dare you?” Brooke yelled back. She could feel everyone looking at them.
“How dare me? How dare you? How dare you deny me? Me? I’m Greg Wilson and I always get what I want.” Greg shouted and for the first time in their relationship, Brooke saw the arrogance and sense of entitlement oozing out of the man. She questioned herself as to how she never saw this.
“You know what, pretty boy? You are right. You always get what you want. Just like you got to sleep with that secretary of yours because you could no longer keep it in your pants. Which means you got a booty at your beck and call and you once again are going to be the talk of the town. You got what you wanted. And guess what else? The wedding is off. Don’t you dare show me your face ever again, you lying, cheating .” Saying this, Brooke walked out of the hall. There were people around whispering. She could see her family and friends gathering around her. Her brother Neil was angry, she could tell. There was sadness in her mother’s eyes and her sister looked furious. She wanted to run to them and cry her heart out in the safety of their arms. But at the moment, she couldn’t. She felt humiliated in front of everyone. She couldn’t stop here for another second and listen to anyone trying to give her false assurances. She rushed to her car and drove away towards her apartment, trying to keep the tears at bay. She couldn’t believe this was her fate. She had loved the man with everything she had and lost him just because Greg would rather sleep with his bimbo of a secretary than getting married to Brooke.
All Greg had to do was ask him, explain his needs, and Brooke would have given him what he desired. Instead, her fiance, well ex-fiance, thought it appropriate to have sx with someone else. A single tear rolled down her cheek. Until today Brooke was at her happiest. She had her own firm, she earned well and had a great family. She was in love. She had a loving fiance and she was about to get married to the love of her life. She was going to finally settle down, have a great married life, have kids, maybe adopt a dog and live happily ever after. It was everything she ever wanted for herself.
And now she had lost everything. Brooke angrily wiped at her eyes and decided that right now she didn’t want to think about anything. She didn’t want to meet anyone, didn’t want to hear the pity in her friend’s or her family’s voice when they consoled her. Her only plans for the moment were getting hammered, eating junk food, and passing out.
That was exactly what she did once she reached her apartment, in that exact order.

The next week Brooke got up early and went about her morning routine. She went for a jog, which was a bit awkward as everyone at the park seemed to be giving her looks and talking about her in hushed tones. She gathered it was bound to happen after the whole 'wedding gone wrong' debacle. She didn’t pay too much attention to the gossip-mongering and focused on herself. When she came back home, she headed for a shower. She had eggs, toast, and fruit for breakfast. The first thing she decided to do was call her friends and family. She called Beth and Steve first, starting with an apology for not opening up the door that day and for being rude. They both forgave him quickly, but Beth threatened him that if Brooke ever did that again, she’d barge in by breaking down the door and kicking her hip. They talked for a while and made a plan to meet up at the cafe sometime soon. Next up, she called his family, assuring her mother that everything was okay and that she was getting better. She promised her father he’d see them soon. Brooke truly felt lucky to have such a loving and caring family and friends around him.
Initially, Brooke didn’t want to go out of the house. But she was renewed with hope that maybe things would be better one day and she’d stop hurting. So, she got dressed and headed for her office. Donald, her secretary, was sitting at his desk when she entered. The moment she entered, Donald went into panic mode.
“Ma’am...I...I didn’t know you were coming in today,” Donald said, coming around his desk, clearly taken aback by Brooke’s presence.
“Why? You didn’t think I had retired, did you?” Brooke teased him, trying to ease the tension.
Brooke had hired Donald when she'd met the man at Wilson’s office as he was trying to get a job. Brooke had been there to meet Greg and had seen Donald hurriedly exiting the office where the interviews were being held. Intrigued, she had followed him and found him desperately fighting his tears. She had calmed him down and asked her what the problem was. Turned out, he was a PA at the firm, and then eventually the firm had closed down. Faced with sudden unemployment, his parents had asked her to come back and seek a job here in Twin Peaks. Unfortunately, it had been six months and she had yet to get a job. His father was suffering from heart issues and because they were tight on money, they couldn’t afford the medication. He badly needed a job and he’d had no luck so far. Looking at his portfolio, Brooke was impressed, and her previous secretary, Stacy had just gotten married and left the job. Brooke took the opportunity to give him a chance. The next day she called him for an interview and ever since he’d been managing Brooke’s contacts.
“N-no, nothing of that sort.” Donald hurried to explain. “It’s just…I’ve been trying to get hold of you…” He trailed off, not knowing how he should let Brookeknow just how much trouble they were in.
“Donny, calm down. What happened?”
“Umm...two days after the wedding, I got a call from Morris. They have hired an Austin-based firm and have dropped us as their architects. Then a day later, the Ultra Machine’s executive, Ms. Kennedy called and they canceled their contract with us. Even Carl Gregson called and they said they’re forced to drop us. Madam, we’re only left with two clients now, and I’m really worried they might turn us down, too,” Donald said, her voice trembling.
Brooke was beyond shocked. Her mouth was dry. She was out of the office just a little over a week and most of his contracts were gone. “Why...why didn’t you say something sooner? Why didn’t you call me?”
“I tried, but your phone was switched off. I even came to your house but no one opened the door. I didn’t know what to do. I’m so sorry.” Donald explain, looking sad as if it was all her fault.
“Hey...it’s alright.” Now more than ever, he was regretting staying at home. “Di...did any of them give us a reason for suddenly terminating their contracts?”
Donald looked up at him. There was something akin to pity in her expression which Brooke couldn’t understand the reason behind, “They said they cannot work with you because...because….”
“Because?”
“Because you canceled the wedding with Mr. Wilson,” Donald whispered, afraid of her reaction. He felt bad for her. She was a good person and a great boss. To see this happening to her was really sad.
“What?”
“There’s talk in town that Mr. Wilson has asked everyone to cut off any kind of relationship they had with you…” Donald trailed off.
“Say no more.” It dawned on Brooke what was going on. “Thank you, Donald.” She said and headed straight into her office. She was enraged. How dare Greg do that to her? But more than that she was furious with her clients. They’d known her for a long time. Some of them had known him since she was a child. And yet they had bowed down to the pressure. The first thing she did was call Morris.
“Hey, Charles, this is Brooke. What the ? How can you terminate the contract with my firm without proper intimation?” Brooke
“Brooke, I’m sorry son. I didn’t want to pull out, but you know Greg. The Wilson’s lent me money so I could afford my son’s higher education. I owe them. They forced me to cancel the deal with you or else face the consequences.”
Brooke gasped at the information. Never in her life would he have thought Greg would be so cruel as to threaten people. But it seemed Brooke never knew the evil Greg that was hidden behind the mask of a supposedly decent, charming, young man.
“You can’t give in. You know he cheated on me.”
“I know, Brooke. I know. But he says he’s going to make sure you come back to him crying and begging. I’m so sorry, my dear.”
Not in the mood to hear anything else, Brooke hung up. She felt betrayed and enraged. She’d worked so hard to establish this firm and it was going to be over just because she declined to marry Greg! She called Greg, furious with white-hot rage. “You idiot,” Brooke yelled when the call was picked up.
“Hello to you too, honey.” Greg’s voice penetrated his ears and Brooke could tell he was mocking her.
“How dare you? You cheated on me and now you think you’ll turn my clients away with threats? “
“I don’t think, sugar. I did.”
“You smug , what do you want? Why don’t you leave me alone?”
“Oh sweetie, after the stunt you pulled in front of everyone in town that day, I think you deserve this. And you’ll slowly come to understand that your place is with me, by my side and you’ll come back running to me.”
“Oh my God, how did I ever think that you were a good man? I cannot believe I couldn’t see beyond that mask and found out just how cruel and evil you are.”
“Oh sweetheart, come on. It was just a fling. You forget you are mine. And I’ll see to it that I get you back.”
“In your dreams. You think if you shut down my business I’ll come crawling back to you? You’re wrong. I will close down my firm or sell my business before I would ever come back to you. You think you’re so awesome. Wait till karma catches up with you.” | LEARN_MORE | https://a.read4funs.com/ad/ZmFuY3lOb3ZlbC8xMzMyNTM | 123823310705302 | ForFun-100 | https://facebook.com/100094441775812 | 84 | 1 | 1,363,465,167,689,671 | 2024-03-26 02:00 | person_profile | eligible | 0 | 0 | NONE | 0 | 0 | 1 | 1 | Learn more | 0 | ForFun-100 | 120209018560720361 | a.read4funs.com | NONE | video | https://a.read4funs.com/ad/ZmFuY3lOb3ZlbC8xMzMyNTMvMjAyNDAzMjYxNTQ0MDEvcGFnZQ==?adid={{ad.id}} | 2024-03-26 04:00 | https://scontent-lax3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/434258594_1476066662944337_651307900821898583_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_s60x60&_nc_cat=108&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=0GllZ1jbDy4AX96BPJa&_nc_ht=scontent-lax3-1.xx&oh=00_AfCpK-pY4IUfELGiNiWhuWMAPxbC1gM1Ck58q_qvDJrBuw&oe=660ACFEF | person_profile | 0 | ForFun-100 | https://scontent-lax3-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/434254199_779028330853463_2569686110930033435_n.jpg?_nc_cat=107&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=zsToFbxDbvAAX93Xqkd&_nc_ht=scontent-lax3-2.xx&oh=00_AfDNbYu22BN1KipvuoNsu0K7ycLNCwQ-It0jap651YuZWg&oe=660B42C3 | 0 | 3 | ForFun-100 | 0 | 0 | 2024-03-26 02:00 | View Edit Delete

| LEARN_MORE | https://a.menovels.com/ad/ZmljZnVuLzEzNDc1NC8yMDI0 | 181066715093574 | MeNo001 | https://facebook.com/61554251835273 | 80 | 1 | 1,089,611,202,301,082 | 2024-03-27 02:00 | person_profile | eligible | 0 | 0 | NONE | 0 | 0 | 1 | 1 | Learn more | 0 | MeNo001 | 120207339931340142 | a.menovels.com | NONE | video | https://a.menovels.com/ad/ZmljZnVuLzEzNDc1NC8yMDI0MDMyNzE2MjY1Ni9wYWdl?adid={{ad.id}} | 2024-03-27 05:33 | https://scontent-lax3-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/434380836_745823357710468_3847783847445273872_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_s60x60&_nc_cat=107&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=8j6mhv9pm10AX8rLPfS&_nc_ht=scontent-lax3-2.xx&oh=00_AfCjF01lb8CTGLAqnPW9BR-eVTbPeO7sewbMy5enASlFxg&oe=660A1BA7 | person_profile | 0 | MeNo001 | https://scontent-lax3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/434194132_377482645165207_407590621704885455_n.jpg?_nc_cat=104&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=rHM-yXoiVb4AX9u1lxc&_nc_ht=scontent-lax3-1.xx&oh=00_AfBRBtq7Hhz36sA1zlBNKPfbenXEU3yVITYpx5YTIvl0lw&oe=660A025E | 0 | 3 | MeNo001 | 0 | 0 | 2024-03-27 02:00 | View Edit Delete

You asshole, you cheated on me and you’re giving me lessons on reputation?”
This time Ariana interrupted, “Brooke, come on. It was just a fun goodbye.

“In your dreams. You think if you shut down my business I’ll come crawling back to you? You’re wrong. I will close down my firm or sell my business before I would ever come back to you. You think you’re so awesome. Wait till karma catches up with you.” | LEARN_MORE | https://a.read4funs.com/ad/ZmFuY3lOb3ZlbC8xMzMyNTM | 123823310705302 | ForFun-100 | https://facebook.com/100094441775812 | 84 | 1 | 240,048,102,454,357 | 2024-03-26 02:00 | person_profile | eligible | 0 | 0 | NONE | 0 | 0 | 1 | 1 | Learn more | 0 | ForFun-100 | 120209018558050361 | a.read4funs.com | NONE | video | https://a.read4funs.com/ad/ZmFuY3lOb3ZlbC8xMzMyNTMvMjAyNDAzMjYxNTQ0MDEvcGFnZQ==?adid={{ad.id}} | 2024-03-26 04:05 | https://scontent-iad3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/432098895_2956596051149525_2563898384328473354_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_s60x60&_nc_cat=110&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=ypKkT10DR6wAX_7Yc-T&_nc_ht=scontent-iad3-1.xx&oh=00_AfA6Foftj16IC1eiefrjNmOnJwBsLUAvMVO7YvdfC6iuEA&oe=660A9EA2 | person_profile | 0 | ForFun-100 | https://scontent-iad3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.35426-6/432136124_428447989690756_630952992308449970_n.jpg?_nc_cat=108&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=c53f8f&_nc_ohc=r8XYTj7gvBoAX_Opqf_&_nc_ht=scontent-iad3-1.xx&oh=00_AfCi3uVaiH4r1TI6tqHgN9yDwxmslmIigKt1BD6_sPMbNA&oe=660A907F | 0 | 3 | ForFun-100 | 0 | 0 | 2024-03-26 02:00 | View Edit Delete
