Making Horror Movies In St. Louis (or anywhere) At this month's MCA meeting, we'll have a panel of local experts sharing their insights about making horror movies, locally and nationally. If you're an actor or an aspiring or professional filmmaker, you won't want to miss our very first MCA meeting focusing on horror movies.

According to The American Film Market, horror is the most profitable movie genre there is ... but also the riskiest. Horror films can be produced inexpensively, and if they catch an audience's attention, they can be hugely successful. They are also fun to make and work on. At this meeting, some of St. Louis' best horror film experts will explore the ins and outs of making horror movies. Many beginning filmmakers jumpstart their filmmaking career with horror films.

-- What makes for a good horror script?

-- Meeting & hiring well-known horror actors to star in your film.

-- The importance of horror film fests and conventions for horror filmmakers. Which ones should you attend?

-- The St. Louis horror con scene -- once thriving and now non-existent: Can it be revived again?

-- Creating your first horror film -- short or feature -- what you need to know.

-- What are the latest trends in horror?

-- Monsters, zombies, ghosts, and villains -- what makes for a good horror film antagonist?

-- Tips on finding or making special effects for your horror films.

If you've worked on -- or want to work on -- horror movies, we'd love to have you attend this event. Yes 2024-07-27 19:12 active 1179 0 26363650326584341 Davidand Kelly SchweitzerTaylor Hey hey hey it’s PD

Guys we gotta talk. I see some increasing bashing online lately of prosperity preachers to a point where NO message of wellness or increase OF ANY KIND is being tolerated by the religious radicals and we are losing valuable ground in the war on terror by Satan’s bullies.

Listen , we gotta get some things straight on this.

What would you think if you turned on your TV and spotted a preacher wearing nice clothes, preaching to thousands of people inside a well-furnished building on the subject of prosperity and success? If you’re like many, you might switch that TV right off and in many cases you would be right to do so BUT BUT BUT not always. In fact, you might, in some cases be making a mistake. Contrary to what the devil would have you believe, the words ā€œprosperityā€ and ā€œsuccessā€ are actually found in the Bible, so any preacher who aims to teach the full counsel of scripture must surely talk about them.

If we are to return to a Biblical view of such things, a good definition is a good place to start. The world defines success in terms of what you have done and what you have accumulated but the Bible defines success in terms of Jesus.

Think of the story of Joseph sold into slavery by his brothers because of their jealousy and then being thrown into jail for doing nothing wrong. Imagine if that was you, a prisoner with no hope of freedom and who spends their days waiting to die.

Then, imagine, inexplicably a great and loving king befriends you. The king frees you, pays your debt and adopts you into the royal family. Let me ask you this: Would you now become healthier than you were when you were in prison? Will you have better prospects? Will you be blessed and in a better position to bless others? Of course you will.

Joseph can vouch for that, because he sure did much better when that exact scenario happened to him that I just described to you. That’s exactly what happens when you get saved and born again. You step out of prison and are instant friends of the King!

The danger is in how we see the blessing here. If we, the prisoner, become preoccupied with only the change in circumstances, we will miss the greatest change of all, which is that the king now calls us ā€œfriend.ā€

It saddens me to see some people bickering over the blessings. They miss the astounding thing, which is that a Great King calls us His ā€œfriendsā€ which can be found in John 15:15. If you have Jesus and nothing else, you have something of infinitely greater value than the entire universe.

Anything extra is just a bonus. And yet God, in his awesome generosity, promises to take care of all those little extras that we need: ā€œBut seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well,ā€ is what we find in it advising us in Matthew 6:33. When we look for Jesus, everything else gets taken care of. And we’re not just talking about our basic needs, for He is the God of ā€œmore than enoughā€.

Joseph had nothing, but the Lord was with him, therefore he was successful and it was only a question of time when his earthly circumstances reflected that spiritual reality.

Here are some closing ideas the Lord has put on my heart to share with you and I pray you meditate on them and ask God how they apply to you individually:

1. Success is not what you have, but rather who you have.

2. God has no problem with you having money, but He does not want money to have you.

3. There is no such thing as a ā€˜prosperity gospel.’ There is only one gospel and that is the gospel of Jesus Christ.

4. When the little boy brought his five loaves and two fishes to Jesus, did He eat them up and say, ā€œI am giving you a lesson in poverty?ā€ Of course not! Jesus did not feed the multitudes with just enough food. He blessed them with more than enough food. He is the God of more than enough and that is His style. Likewise, Jesus wants to bless you with more than enough, so that you can be a blessing to others.

5. The Lord blessed Abraham so that he could be a blessing to others. You cannot be a blessing to those around you- your loved ones, local church, community and the poor- if you are not blessed by the Lord first.

6. Religion is blinding. Religion will tell you that God wants you sick to teach you character and patience. Religion will tell you that God wants you poor, so that you will learn humility. It sounds noble, doesn’t it? But these are LIES from the BOWELS of hell and they STINK LIKE SMOKE!

Let me tell you this: It is the devil who wants you sick and poor, but the God I know paid a heavy price to redeem you from the curse of sickness and poverty!

7. The more occupied you are with Jesus, the more money follows after you! Now why is that? It is simply because when you seek first the kingdom of God, and put Jesus, His righteousness (not your righteousness), His joy and His peace as your first priority. God’s Word promises you that ALL the material things that you NEED to accomplish His agendas in the Earth will be added to you.

8. Don’t love money and use people. Use money to love people.

9. The secret to walking in the blessing of Abraham in your life is to stop trying to deserve it.

10. The irony is that if you were to examine the lives of those believers who fight against the teaching that God blesses His children with more than enough, you would see that they have no problems with doing their best to secure a nice home and give their children the best education and things and stuff money can buy. You see, they have no problem with accumulating wealth for themselves and living well, but they have a problem when we tell them that financial success is from God or that they should use some of it to help someone else. . They would rather believe in their self-efforts and say that their success is ā€œself-made,ā€ than give God the credit and horde as much as they can to themselves or live broke with nothing so they don’t have to put any effort into caring about others’ needs, just their own is all they care about. Sad!

11. There are no ā€œmoney problems,ā€ only idea problems.

12. Don’t be afraid to use the word ā€œprosperous,ā€ because it’s God’s promise in the Bible.

13. Prosperity certainly includes money, but it also means wellness in EVERY area of life- relationships, career, health, emotions, etc.- God wants us at our best so we can represent His Kingdom effectively and with excellence. He can use you at your worst. He won’t turn from your weaknesses, but at your best His power and greatness can have a much broader reach to get His saving grace to all the nations and all the world much quicker and then Jesus can finally return.

I don’t know about you, but I think these things sound reasonable, yet I know that there will be some who will react strenuously against this merely because it’s politically incorrect for Christians to even discuss these things, or because they think we’re better off poor and sick- even while those same people are working hard to save money and stay healthy or sitting by DOING NOTHING, because they are too broke or sick to step up and do anything, while many people around them are praying for miracles and for direly needed help. What do you think? Please comment below!!!
God bless you.
We love ya. He came over to her and hugged her close and pecked her softly.
"I will text you when I'm headed home okay, I know you have an early morning so you don't need to wait up for me," Mitch said.
"Okay, love you," Kelly said.
"Love you baby," Mitch said. He pecked her and went out the door. Matthew looked at her and smiled.
After work,
Kelly drove to Mitch's office with some food and went to his office and heard sounds coming from inside and she opened the door slowly and saw something that made her heart break. Her husband slept with his assistant on his desk.
"What were you doing, Mitch!" Kelly said.
"Oh god Kel!" Mitch said. He pulled away and got dressed as did his assistant. She threw the bag of food at him.
"I can't believe you!" Kelly said.
"Baby please," Mitch said.
"Don't call me that, not anymore, we are done! It's over!" Kelly yelled. She ran out the door and got on the elevator and the doors closed and she ran out when she got on the ground floor.
"Leave me alone!" Kelly yelled. She went to Kate's house and went to the door and knocked. Ryan opened it and saw her.
"Kel, sis, what happened?" Ryan asked. She broke down crying and he pulled her in and closed the door.
"I took food to Mitch at his office and found him sleeping with his assistant on his desk," Kelly said crying.
"Oh my god, he's so dead!" Ryan said.
"No he's not worth it, I told him I was done," Kelly said.
Three days later, Kelly went home and found him there sitting on the couch. She went to the bedroom and began packing her bags. She sent a quick text as she packed. He came to the door.
"Kelly please," Mitch said.
"Don't! I don't want to hear any excuses, there is no excuse for what you did, how long has it been going on?" Kelly asked.
"Kelly," Mitch said.
"How long?!" Kelly yelled.
"Three months," Mitch said.
"And you said you loved me," Kelly said.
"I do!" Mitch said.
"No you don't or you never would have slept with her in the first place! No man who says he loves his wife would ever cheat on her! You are not a man, you are nothing!" Kelly yelled.
"Mitch!" Matthew yelled. Matthew cam and pulled his brother away from the door.
"Matt," Mitch said.
"I heard what you did, how could you do that!" Matthew said.
"It was a mistake!" Mitch said.
"A mistake is one time, three months isn't!" Matthew said.
"How did you find out?" Mitch asked.
"From her sister, she told me when I went to get coffee this morning," Matthew said.
"Matt," Mitch said.
"Leave her be, Mitch, go for a walk for an hour and let her get her things out," Matthew said.
"I'm not giving her a divorce," Mitch said.
"You better," Kelly said.
"I don't want to lose you!" Mitch said.
"You lost me the moment you put your private part inside Delia," Kelly said.
"Go Mitch now!" Matthew said.
"Get him out, I'll help her finish up and get her stuff in her car," Matthew said. Harris pulled Mitch out the door. Matthew went to Kelly and she broke down in his arms.
"Oh beautiful it will be all right, let's get your stuff and get out of here," Matthew said. They finished packing up her stuff and got it all in her car and his.
"Thank you Matt," Kelly said.
"You're welcome, now where are you staying? Matthew asked.
"I was staying at Kate's, being there for her and Ryan, she's having a rough time with her pregnancy," Kelly said.
"Let's go then," Matthew said. They went to Kate's house and got out. Ryan came out.
"Hey Matt," Ryan said.
"Hey man, got her stuff here," Matthew said.
"Let's get it inside," Ryan said. They got her stuff moved into the house and she got her clothes in the bedroom and the rest in the other spare room for the time being.
"So I'll be going now," Matthew said.
"Thanks for the help, Matt," Kelly said.
"Of course beautiful, see you later," Matthew said. He pecked her cheek and hugged her and left. Kelly sat on the bed. Ryan sat next to her.
"You okay sis?" Ryan asked.
"I guess so, are you okay with me staying here?" Kelly asked.
"Of course, Kate wants you here, I'm glad you are here for her, it makes me feel better knowing you are helping her," Ryan said.
Three weeks later, Kelly found herself a house close to Kate and Ryan. She got all moved in and settled.
Then she heard the front door ding announcing there was a customer. Kelly and Sarah went up front and the person there was the last person she was expecting to see, Mitch’s assistant.
"What are you doing here," Kelly said.
"I wanted to talk to you please," Delia said.
"What could you have to say to me," Kelly said.
"I wanted to explain it to you," Delia said.
"I really don't care, he slept with you for three months, I can't forgive and forget," Kelly said.
"Kelly, please," Delia said.
"Why should I listen to anything you say, did he send you here to plead his case so I would take him back, tell him to go away," Kelly said.
"Kelly, he's checked into rehab," Delia said.
"What for?" Kelly asked.
"He had an accident at work five months ago, it wasn't bad but he required some painkillers to keep you from finding out because he didn't want you to worry or anything, he got hooked on them and he was so in need for them that he got mixed up and thought I was you, he called me Kelly," Delia said.
"Oh geez," Kelly said.
"Seems like nonsense to me," Sarah said.
"Yeah he's just trying to get me to take him back, tell him I'm not going to take him back ever, he and I were over the moment his private part was inside you so get out of here and stay away from me," Kelly said.
"Okay I'll go and I'm sorry for my part in all this," Delia said. She left and Sarah looked at Kelly. Kelly went back to her office. Benjamin came in and smiled and pecked her.
"Hey baby," Benjamin said.
"Hey," Sarah said.
"What's going on?" Benjamin asked.
"You won't believe it," Sarah said. She told him what happened. He sent a text and soon the door opened and Matthew came in. Kelly came out of her office and saw him and he took her in his arms as she sobbed against him.
"It's okay beautiful, I'm here," Matthew said.
"Why can't he understand that I can't be with him anymore," Kelly said.
"I don't know but I do know that he never deserved you," Matthew said. I'm quite aware I went for a ride."
Quick as a flash, his arms reached out and grabbed me to him, my knees still on the bed. "Now is not the time for your mouth. You caused an uproar, wife, and you inconvenienced me and all my men."
"Let me go," I hissed.
"You need to learn your place," he snarled back. "I will not have my life disrupted because you cannot accept that which has always been."
ļ¼ļ¼ļ¼ļ¼ļ¼ļ¼
It hurts. It hurts me so badly. I always wonder if my parents knew, when they married me off to the warrior, that his peoples' tradition included the males keeping and flaunting their mistresses. Knowing my parents, and the great love between the two of them, and just the two of them, I cannot imagine they did or they would not have given me over to him.
I sigh as I realize I have no choice but to continue to live here, my heart dying a little more every day as I sleep alone in my bed, the warrior not alone in his. He is with her. My only hope is that someday he will allow me to live away from him at one of his other estates. Since he doesn't seem to care about family, maybe once he has his heir, he will let us go.
Defeat is hard for me to accept, and as soon as I think that thought, my anger at myself grows. Who says I have to accept my lot? What if I were to run away? I had some money my mother slipped into my trunk before we left.
"A woman should always have her own money," she'd whispered and I'd nodded my understanding. "Unpack it when you get home and hide it well in case there is ever need for it."
She was assuming in case we were ever overrun with raiders, I could use it to ransom my husband if he were ever taken.
I also had jewelry I could sell.
Thinking back to the first – and only – time he had given jewelry to me, I frown. It was the day we had arrived at Bellford and I discovered...her.
A servant had summoned me to his library and the warrior waited in there for me, holding a velvet bag in his hand.
I'd walked into the room, keeping my eyes to the floor, even after I heard the servant bow out and close the door.
"I have made arrangements for Mrs. Kelly to give you a tour of the estate and to go over household matters with you. Bellford Keep has been without a mistress since the old lord and lady died."
I continued to stare at the ground and I did not acknowledge that I heard him. His boots came into my view after a few moments of silence.
"Are you well, my lady wife?"
Just a short nod from me as answer.
His fingers nudged my chin up, but I still managed to keep my eyes downcast. "What is wrong that you will neither speak to me nor look me in the eye?"
"May I leave?" I asked.
Sensing his irritation, I was not surprised that his answer was swift. "No, you may not. I would like to know the cause of your distress and I have a surprise for you."
That got him my eyes, but they were enraged. "I never want another surprise from you ever again."
"This one you will like," he assured me, and spilled the contents of the velvet bag into his hand. It was a beautiful diamond and emerald necklace.
Pushing his hand away, I snapped. "I want nothing from you. Give it to her, give all of your gifts to her. But do not ever attempt to give me a gift, ever again. You have nothing I want."
Then I left him in his library, holding the jewelry I rejected.
The memory was bitter and made me reconsider accepting his gifts. Perhaps I should have taken them, then I could sell them and book passage on a ship to another country and start a new life there, never having to see the warrior with her again.
Liking this plan, my mind begins to add details to it, making the impossible seem possible, within reach. So deep am I into my thoughts that I don't notice the sun setting and the stars peeping out at Sir and me. My stomach rumbles, so I know it is well past the evening meal. How sad that my spirits are lifted at the thought of missing a meal, missing her making eyes at the man I am married to from her place further down our table. My humiliation never ends.
Fortunately, the moon is full and provides enough light for Sir and me to get back. We've come much farther than I thought and it takes hours to get home since I won't allow Sir his head to run as I did when there was light still.
About half an hour from home, I see a rider heading toward me with a torch raised high. He reins in as he comes alongside me.
"Milady, are you well?"
I smile at his concern. "Thank you, yes, Sir Alcarn."
"Were you lost?"
"No; I only lost track of time and rode farther than I thought. When I realized and turned back, I could not allow Sir Neigh to run as he had earlier, when there was still sun."
"Everyone is out looking for you."
What on earth? "Why?"
His look is part relief and part anger. "You disappeared, milady, without an escort, and you missed the evening meal. Then when you still did not return, my lord sent all of his warriors out to find you."
"Yes, I'm sure he couldn't be bothered to look himself."
That bit of bitterness came out before I could stop my mouth. I'd broken a rule of my own, that no one should know of my marital discord, and I fidgeted uncomfortably in my saddle.
"No, milady. He was the first one out to look for you when you didn't show up for the evening meal. When he couldn't find you, he sent all of us out, my lord himself included."
With the bit of light we had from the torch, we trotted back toward the keep. Every so often, Alcarn would blow a horn he had shrilly.
"In case anyone is close enough to hear, they will know you have been found and will pass that along."
Sure enough, on the ride back, four more knights joined us, grouping themselves around me.
The upheaval my ride had caused took me by surprise. At home, although my parents didn't like it, I would disappear until well after dark all the time during the summer.
"I apologize," I told my escorts. "At home I would often lose track of the time and return late. My parents never sent out anyone to find me, so I had no idea the warrior would."
"Be prepared, milady," one of my escorts said.
"For what?"
"My lord is not used to being...concerned, and your disappearance did not sit well with him. It's a wonder he didn't kill Braden."
"Why on earth would he do that?"
"Braden knew you'd ridden off and informed no one until he was questioned."
"A mistake he will never make again," Basik chortled.
The keep came into view, other riders coming toward the stables from opposite directions. I thanked my escort, apologized to them and allowed one of them to take Sir and wipe him down so I could head to my chambers.
As soon as my maid undid my laces on my dress, I dismissed her so she could sleep. Then I crawled into my bed and fell to sleep immediately.
I never knew if it was hours or minutes later but the door to my chambers burst open and hit the wall, startling me awake.
Then it was slammed shut and I could barely make out the form of the warrior as he stalked to my bed.
"Do you know what you did?" he growled at me.
An apology would have been the proper thing right then.
"Yes. I'm quite aware I went for a ride."
Quick as a flash, his arms reached out and grabbed me to him, my knees still on the bed. "Now is not the time for your mouth. You caused an uproar, wife, and you inconvenienced me and all my men."
"Oh, I'm so sorry," I cooed. "Did I infringe on the time you could have spent with your woman?"
His fingers tightened on my upper arms. "Is that what this is? A tantrum about my camaspoza?"
"Let me go," I hissed.
"You need to learn your place," he snarled back. "I will not have my life disrupted because you cannot accept that which has always been."
"For you, it is tradition. For me, it is the worst insult you can give a wife. It demeans me and my position and every day I hate you more than the day before. I am miserable with you; I abhor the life you are forcing me to live. And I will never accept that which has always been because I will never accept something that destroys me. If I fell dead tomorrow, I would rejoice that my shame would be at an end."
The warrior drew back at the poison I spewed at him.
"You have no choice but to accept."
"You are wrong. I will do my duty by you and give you an heir, but no more than that."
"You cannot keep yourself from me."
"There you are wrong, Warrior. I already do keep myself from you. You have my body, but that is all. Everything else that is in me despises you with a hatred so deep, it is beyond measure."
"Do not fool yourself. Your jealousy makes you think it is hatred, but you are only jealous because you care."
"No. I used to care, and you know that I fell in love with you in our month together before we wed. I was prepared to make you my everything and to share a beautiful life with you, sharing our joys and sorrows and concerns, raising our children together. What I dreamed of was as magnificent as I thought you were. But all of that was gone in a moment when you introduced her to me. It killed everything good I was feeling about us in but a moment, and your lack of respect and your continued humiliation of me – your preference for her – have changed my feelings to quite the opposite of what they were on the day we wed."
"Your body says otherwise."
He didn't understand. "You are skilled in bed, no doubt. You have enough experience to give me pleasure despite my wish otherwise. But you do not touch my heart or my mind or my soul. My parents have a true marriage and that is what I was raised thinking I would have. And instead, I have nothing."
"You have my loyalty and affection and protection."
"I most certainly do not have your loyalty nor do I have your affection."
"I come to your bed; what is that if not affection?"
"That is doing your duty and every time you do, something in me dies. It is not something that enhances our love or our connection as husband and wife; it is assuredly killing anything that I once thought I felt. A body is just a shell."
I look away because what once would have thrilled me breaks my heart, especially given the crude way he says it. "Once I am pregnant, I would like to go into seclusion at another one of your estates."
"No."
"Why?" I demand, frustrated. "What possible reason is there for me to stay once I am pregnant?"
"Because you are my wife and you remain where I say. You need no other reason."
"Just go," I demand.
But he doesn't. "I think I will take my pleasure now, wife."
And he does, but I remain impassive and resistant as long as I can. Which is not long at all.
"Take your pleasure," he whispers into my ear. "It is not shameful to do so."
Tears streaming down my face, I do. I cannot help it. "I hate you," I whisper to him. "I want you to stay away from me."
...
The next day, the warrior comes to me and tells me that the king's messenger has arrived and summoned him to court immediately. That explains the servants scurrying to pack his trunks and provisions.
That last night of pleasure before my husband left for the king's court had filled me with a baby. Part of my reasoning for visiting the estates was to select my favorite one, and so I did. That it happened to be the farthest from Bellford Keep was part of its allure. Fernwick was much smaller than Bellford, more rustic, but near a charming village that had excellent midwives. It felt homier to me, the right place to enter my confinement period and to birth my child.
My hand smoothed my belly and I felt my child kick heartily. Smiling at the movement, we played a little game of press and kick, wherein I would press against the tiny foot or bottom and my baby would kick back. My midwives had given me much advice, and contrary to the established norms, they did not believe in lying-in period. Instead, they encouraged me to be active and to take daily walks.
So I did, along paths with trees arching over them and wildflowers scattered along the way. One of my favorite places to walk was along a creek and the sound of the water moving slowly over the rocks soothed me.
Every morning I walked into the village, stopping at the bakery and wandering among the other shops, greeting the villagers. I made friends with all of the wives, who did not stand so much in awe of me as their husbands did because of who my husband was.
I invited the ladies to Fernwick once a week, to talk and discuss happenings in the village. At first, they seemed scared to join me, but after the first two gatherings, we chatted and laughed easily. I had never had friends like this before, and certainly none after my marriage.
They'd even gathered the courage to ask about the warrior and I told them that we would live separately.
"He has...another to keep him company and they suit one another."
Each one of them looked affronted and I know that the poor had different types of unions, but openly carrying on with another who was not your spouse was not acceptable.
"I cannot believe he would choose another over you," Maggie told me brashly. I adored Maggie as she spoke her truths unflinchingly. She was also one of my midwives. "You are his wife."
"Only to give him an heir. Nothing more." I laughed as a particularly hard kick took my breath. "And it is fine. I will have my child and a quiet life here and I will not have to see him with her."
After a few weeks of settling in at Fernwick, I wrote the warrior a short note. As we had traveled, following each visit at an estate, I sent him a brief summary of my visit, letting him know that things were in order. There was nothing personal in my communications to him; I did not inquire after him, nor did I say anything about my health. Unless he was in touch with the stewards of the estates and they had spilled my news, he did not know of his impending fatherhood. I determined I would have to write him with news of his child; I could put it off no longer. If he wasn't still at court, I'm sure he was busy with her and might care about my news only if I was delivered of a boy.
This note I sent from Fernwick was straightforward. I told him I had begun my confinement and offered him a chance to do the right thing.
I am at peace at Fernwick. Although I know very well you do as you want without regard for my wishes and well-being, I beg of you not to do anything to upset my quiet life here. In case you have not heard, I am with child and it is better for the baby if I am not constantly upset, sad or at war with you. Plainly speaking, I do not wish to see you or her here. I will send you news of the child after I am safely delivered. (And if I am not, then I have made arrangements for the babe to be guarded until you can be summoned, and my midwife, Maggie, will care for the babe and find a wet nurse. I have informed several people that I trust as to the location of a letter I have written to you that should be sent in the event of my death.) The midwives believe the babe should arrive in five or six weeks, so you should expect a letter sometime after that.
I prayed he would allow me to live at Fernwick and never destroy the peace I felt here with her presence. It would all depend on how much he hated me, I supposed. After all, the last time I asked him to stay away, he had and moved her into my rightful place to teach me a lesson. Our marriage was filled with nothing but fights and hurt...and her.
I would never forget his eyes which was the same as my daughter...
I closed in on my car. Shoving the key in the door. Twisting it as fast as I could. I yanked the door.
"Why do you have a booster seat in your car? It is for a baby, isn't it?" He said suddenly.
Panic raced through me but I didn't make eye contact. I felt the blood drain from my face.
"I...I..."
————————
INK POV
The curtain lifted as the dancer walked around the pole to the beat. A black sheer halterneck covered her chest with a small hood barely containing the raven black hair she had her firm hip barely contained by the strappy ripped shortys. Warm but naturally tanned skin covered her whole body with glitter making her shimmer under the spotlight.
I instantly got hard. Straining against my jeans zipper.
Sage quickly rushed behind the bar, her heels clicking against the flooring like a galloping horse.
"Ink" she said anxiously but I couldn't take my eyes off the dancer.
As the song got stronger the dancer climbed the pole with easy. Simple attractive with all eyes in the club on her.
"Ink!" Sage repeated.
As the dancer turned to face my way she made direct eye contact.
Those ice blue eyes I'd remember anywhere.
A moment of panic flashed in her eyes before smirk crossed her lips. I felt like a cold hand slapped me across the face.
"Angel" I whispered as she turned doing another spin before body rolling against the pole. Grinding against the pole teasing the front row.
She's back.
She looked the same but totally different. 5 years had changed her.
Her body had gained more curvy in all the right places but she was fit.
Her toned flat tummy had a small piercing which caught the light. Her hips wide enough to want to grip onto as I imagined drived into her right on the stage. Her legs seeming to go on for days as she strut around in the 8 inch pleasers.
I groaned as my manhood strained again my pants.
"Ink, it's.." Sage leaned in, she was clearly trying to warn me but it was far to late for that.
"I know."
"Dont screw it up." She replied looking at me with knowing eyes. Looking back up to Angel on stage as she glided around the pole like she owned it.
"I let her go once. It won't happen again." I replied to Sage not letting my eyes leave Angels sinful form.
Talk about Destiny. That's what was right in front of me.

Angel POV
5 year.
5 years I promised I'd never come back.
But given my mother had drunk herself to death I had no choice but to return.
Not that she was much of a mother but given I was the only one left, well not quite.
"Mummy! I'm hungry" Lila whined yawning from her car seat. She pushed her crazy curls from her face that had flopped in her eyes while she slept on the drive over. We'd been on the road for 3 days. We had stopped at motels along the way to rest and stretch out but I had serious thoughts of just turning the car around and driving home.
Home. Rosetown wasn't home. It didn't feel like home, even with Lila and I in the dump of an apartment that was in dire need of a update we made it our own. I tried to make it feel like a home but you can't polish a turd.
If I could move anywhere I'd move back to Ashford but that idea scared it out if me more then our terrible neighborhood we were in.
But with mothers house and the little equity it did have, i could sell it for a bit and use my saving to finally buy a little house for us. I could move back and that's what I was planning.
So after giving my noticed to my creep of a landlord Anthony and my work at the nearby diner and the strip club I worked at on weekends. We packed up the tiny amount of things we had into my little Corolla 3 days ago and left for Ashford. Kelly, the only person I had kept in touch with and my closest friend was letting us crash at hers with her brother for the time being while we go on our feet.
She was so excited we were finally close by again that it didn't involve flying to Rosetown every Christmas or birthday. She knew I didn't have the heart or guts to show my face in Ashford again but now I knew it was now or never.
It wasn't just to give us a home but there was one person in Ashford that deserved to have Lila in there life even if the idea scared absolutely me.
"Okay baby we'll get you some food, sweetheart" I called over the backseat to see Lila picking a new movie to watch on her iPad Kelly had bought her for Christmas last year.
I grabbed her a Happy Meal before we rolled up to Kelly's place. She had been the only one I had kept in contact with all these years. She was the only one from Ashford that knew about Lila.
I don't think that secret would be kept for long sadly. I think Ink would soon find out because the Club ran this town. If I could've stayed away forever I would have as selfish as that sounds. But that only meant less pain for me and no answers for Lila in the long run.
He made it clear I wasn't welcome. So I did what he wanted and left only to find out I was pregnant with his child a month later. 18 with no home, no family and totally out of options.
Ink was drama plain a simple, or at least he was. He broke my heart into a million pieces I didn't need him to do it to Lila as well. She didn't need to have her heartbroken.
I knew it would hit the fan as soon as he found out but I couldn't delay it forever.
At almost 4 and a half Lila was becoming aware that all of her friends had daddy's except her and I knew the conversation would come up soon about where her daddy was.
Dredding wasn't a strong enough work to describe how nervous I felt about telling Ink.
Kelly's front door flew open and I could hear her screams of excitment as i hopped out as the crapola groaned to a hold. Almost as if it was warning me that it was it's final journey.

"Oh so you are staying? What about Ink?" I sighed.
She knew as well as I did it was about time I told him and it would be better if I told him before someone else did. God knows she may look like me but she had his emerald eyes.
It didn't take a genius to figure out he was her dad.
Evergone and there mother knew Ink and I were as thick as thieves as teens. Suddenly showing up 5 years later with a 4 year old screamed gossip central.
"I'm gonna have to talk to him, but I need a job. I can't sleep on your couch forever. If he doesn't wanna be involved I'll leave him be. We don't need the trouble. I don't blame him if he doesn't wanna be apart of her life."
"You never know, Angel. Mike's said the club's done some good things in thae last few years. Maybe hes changed."
"I doubt it Kel." I said blowing on the hot coffee she had just passed along the counter.
"You never know, Ink was never a bad guy." she said kindly and she wadnt wrong. What Ink did was so out of character but his words cut so deeply.
"He didn't want me once. He made that clear"
"That was 5 ye-" but before she could finish I cut her off
"Does Sage still have Try Out Tuesdays?" I ask quickly
"You wanna be a stripper?"
"I already am one Kels, it's good money. Plus try outs are a good place to start 1k if i win, plus tips and a job. Sounds like easy money to me" I shrug taking a long sip.
Kelly raised an eyebrow before looking me up and down "yea if i had your bod i would too girl but you know Sage's is a club joint"
"So?" Yea the MC owned Sage's but that wasn't going to stop me. I was bound to run into them. Might as well get it over with.
"Your funeral" she sings walking to the pantry to pull out some biscuits.
"Itll be alright, Kels" I said with a smile. She was comcerned about people getting handsy but if anyone touched me they'd know quickly not to do it again. I wasn't some doormat or snowflake any longer.
"Could you watch Lila tonight so I can go try out? Just need to go for a run and get ready"
"Omg really?" She squealed excitedly. I wasn't sure why Kelly was a nurse she was more suited to working eith kids. She was obsessed and so clucky.
Smiling I quickly ran her down on Lilas updated list of fave movies and bedtime routine.
"Yes. I love Moana!" She squealed pulling a microwave packet of Popcorn from the pantry.

A few hours later I had showered tucked Lila in and hopped into the car and pulled up to Sage's.
My back seat full of boxes and bags begging to be unloaded in the morning.
Parking in the back corner of the car park a line of bikes ran the length of the club. And I could see Sage standing outside taking a drag of her smoking by the back door. Grabbing my bag I pulled my coat tighter as I closed the gap between us.
"Those will kill you one day" I teased quietly strolling up to her through the now dark car park.
"Yea ye- Angel?" Sage gasped dropping the smoking on the ground.
"Oh my god, your-....But you-.....Are you....Oh my god" she babbled. Pushing her hair out of her face. I tried to give her a gentle smile.
Sage was undeniably gorgeous. Naturally icey blonde with deep blue eyes like the ocean after a storm. With the attitude to match resting bimbo face was no match for Sage. She was a wonder. She was dressed in tight blue ripped skinny jeans and killer black heels with a diamonte bra covered with a sheer black blouse.
"You still do try outs Tuesday?" I said quietly reading her confused face.
"Yea, yea of course. Do you wanna?" She seemed to pale slightly.
"You bet" I smiled
"Okay come on. I'll show you the dressing room" Sage grasped my hand like she thought I was going to disappear any second. I knew it would be a shock I had returned I hadn't even said goodbye to anyone the night I left town.
I just disappeared. Packed my stuff even stole my mum's car. Not that she even noticed because she never reported it stolen.
As we walked up the back steps into the dressing rooms a few heads turned to look. A few I remembered as club hang arounds. One I knew very well then stepped up to me.
"Angel?" She hissed anger flashed in her eyes.
She had gotten implants that was for sure. The fake things stuck out like traffic cones under her orange bikini and terrible fake tan.
"Cherry" I replied coldly. She was a bimbo then in high school . She would be a bimbo now. She hated me then. She clearly hated me now.
The fun begins
"What the fu-" Cherry started flipping her bottle blonde fried hair over her shoulder.
"One more word and you're fired" Sage snapped cutting her off. Shock covered Cherrys face as I smirked.
"Bu-" Cherrys mouth dropped open.
"What? What was that? Shut up and sit down before I give her your job" Sage snapped Cherry plopped into her seat with a huff continuing on her makeup.
The other staring girl quickly followed in suit. Not daring to question Sage.
"Okay so here is your spot. I'll give you your hours after your performance" Sage said showing me to a little makeup desk and mirror in the corner beside the inner stairs.
"But I haven't even-" I started
"Dont argue. You've got the job. I know you'll be great with that bod. Pwoah. You are fine" Sage said with a wink "I'll be at the bar. You're up in 30 so better get a wriggle on. Whats your stage name?"
"Destiny" I smiled.
30 mins later I'd probably broken a world record for fastest makeup up application. False lashes, a Smokey eyes and covered in body glitter finished with a long hip length raven black wig that was on so tight I'd probably get a headache.
I was hoping it hide my face long enough i wouldnt get immediatly recgonised. But i doubted it.
God knows I'd probably get recognised in 30 seconds just like Sage did.
I had slipped on my outfit, a sheer holter neck hooded crop top with lace papillae pasties underneath and strappy cheeky matching bottom and 8 inch pleasers before heading to the inner stairs.
Quickly looking back across the room to see 2 other woman standing right next to Cherry whispering and glaring.
I blew a buss in her direction before continuing down the stares hearing her yell "bimbo!"
Well she wasn't wrong.
I wasn't the same girl I was 5 years ago. And shed learn the hard way if she thought otherwise
It would be her mistake if she stepped up to me.
I wasn't interested in bimbo fights but I sure it would take her bad mouthing if she started up.
3 years of self defense and boxing had kept me fit as well as safe from anyone. Living as a single mum in an area with no self defense skills was a recipe for diaster so I also bought a taser and mace.
And it wasn't my first rodeo being a stripper. Guys getting to handsy before the bouncer got around to kicking there asses out. But I made sure they knew to keep hands off. 3 broken noses, 4 broken fingers and 2 ruptured testicles later guys new not to touch the merchandise.
I wouldn't take it from anyone now. Men or women. I wasn't a victim of anyone's.
As I neared the DJ booth recognition flashed on his eyes before he took my song request.
As my song started. A wave of anxiety flooded me. But with a deep breath I focus on my routine. I knew it well. It was my fave and my most popular.
As I walked around the pole faces all around looked up seeing a seemingly new face.
Body rolling and a few spins to the slow building beat. A few simple tricks later money was flying up at the stage. A few hoots and hollers encouraged my dancing as it went into the chorus again stripping off my hoodie now only in the pasties and thong. As I spun around to face the bar my eyes landed on him.
I'd remember those eyes anywhere. Till the day I died.
My daughter's eyes.
Ink.
He looked pissed but I wouldn't let him win. Continuing my routine as it neared the end his eyes were felt burning into me. Heat built from my core. He was even hotter then 5 years ago. His hair was longer tied into a man bun uptop his head and he had grown in a beard. But not a ratty kind. Manly and well taken care of.
He wore his cut over the top of a hoody but i could see his tattoos on his hands and neck.
He was hot.
I felt my papillae harden as I held his gaze as I grinded against the pole finished up the routine.
Cheers filled the club as more money flew up into the stage. I picked it all up and my clothes as gracefully as I could before making my way off the stage towards the stairs letting the next girl start her routine.
Before I reached the stairs at the back of the room large hairy arm wrapped around my waist. Yanking me towards 2 men standing alone.
"Hey Doll, you must be new here" one slurred tightening his arm around my waist like a boa constrictor.
"Give us a private dance would ya?" The one who touched my waist said and then trying to slide his hand over my hip to grab as handful of my cheek.
"Hands off." I said coldly as they stiffened ones grip on my shoulder got firmer.
"Aww dont be that way doll" the second drawled lowing his hand to rub the top of my hip.
"I said..." I began quickly twisted the first ones hand off my shoulder hearing him curse in pain as I twisted out of his grip and threw my wrist into his nose. As he toppled away the second tried grabbing my wrist only to have my knee connect with his nose as I grabbed a handful of his salt and pepper hair it let out sickening crack as he fell to the ground screaming in pain.
"Don't touch" I snapped as they both rolled onto the floor swearing in pain.
"You bimbo!" One cursed turned to reach out to me again. But before he could touch me again the toe of my pleasers pressed on his crotch.
"Sorry what?"
"Nothing" he spat out glaring at me with his bloodshot eyes.
"Now Barry what did i tell you about touching my girls" Sage said appearing beside me her touch on the small of my back gliding me out of the space. Sage spoke to two prospects who had suddenly appeared also telling them to throw them out.
"You ain't welcome here ever again" she yelled guiding me upstairs, i knew better to look back and connect eith Inks eyes I had no doubt were boring into the back of my skull.
"Remind me not to bang with you" one of the prospects mumbled looking impressed at the 2 groaning bleeding men.
"Well looks like your hired love. Got you on 3 days a week from 9 till 2. You'll get $500 a night without tips ontop and you will be popular by the looks of it." Sage handed me a small piece of paper telling me what days I was on. She also passed me a wad of hundred from her back pocket with a smile, before taking her cut from the tips she smiled "looks like you won try outs by a mile, go home love I'll see you Thursday." Sage finished with a wink.
As she reached the balestrate she turned to look at me a final time "Oh Angel?"
"Mmm?" I looked at her shoving the money in my duffle bag.
"Ink saw you" she said softly with gentle eyes.
I sighed unclipping the wig and sliding it off "I know."
"He's gonna wanna talk"
I looked back at her and nodded before she replied the same and headed back down the stairs
"Hey!" Cherry snapped appearing at my side.
"Yes?" I said back bored.
"Stay away from Ink, He's mine" she spat.
"Good. I don't want him" I lied
"I saw you eyefucking him down stairs." She snarled.
"Threatened are we?" I said with a smirk.
"What? No!" Cherry shrieked looking at her minions in outrage.
"You sure?" I asked with fake concern.
"Why don't you get off back to the hole you crawled out of Angel. No-one wants you here" Cherry hissed closing the space between us.
As i stepped up to her with my heels on I was almost a foot taller then her.
"Or What Cherry?"
"You'll regret it! I mean it. Stay away from Ink. Hes. Mine" She snapped. She was about as threatening as a goldfish.
"Don't worry, Cherry. You can have him." I bit back.
Cherry quickly turned with her bottle blonde whipping across my face as she walked away. As if she'd won the battle trapsing off with pride.
bimbo. I thought to myself. Some things never change. I wish her 8 inches would snap and shed break an ankle or something.
All I knew was when Cherry finds out about Lila I was screwed. And if she told Ink before me I would be totally screwed. And not in a good way.
God knows I needed it but if I didn't tell him before he found out through someone else it would be really bad.
I quickly changed back into my normal clothes before hurrying down the back steps heading towards my car.
Only when I got down the step I crashed straight into a wall I hadn't realised was there before.
A wall that smelt amazing. His cologne hit my nose in a wave. I almost moaned at the familiar smell before snapping out of it.
I muttered bouncing back. Looking up my eyes met with those Emerald Green eyes that lit a fire in me I could never control.
"Better watch were you going, Darlin" he said with the voice I remember.
His voice was killing.
Sweet baby Jesus.
"Or what?" I snapped stepping around him.
"Woah, someone's fiesty" he scoffed following behind me.
"Leave me alone, Ink" I couldn't tell him hear and my body screamed run. As fast as i could. Away. Right now.
"Playing hard to get Darlin'?" he drawled I could hear the smile on his lips.
"I'm not playing anything with you, Ink." I snapped closing in on my car. Shoving the key in the door. Yes 2024-07-27 19:12 active 1179 0 410123618713528 From Classroom to Cash: Creative Side Hustle for Teachers on Break. From Classroom to Cash: Creative Side Hustle for Teachers on Break. My principal was such a bully, So although I loved teaching, she was quickly Changing my perspective. I mean, teaching is such a rewarding career, And I definitely wanted to do something meaningful, Where I was helping people. So even after finding a new position in intervention teaching that I loved, There were still those dreaded downsides that made my heart sink. In my company, we don’t get paid unless we work, Not getting paid on holiday breaks and most of all summer, Is simply awful. Instead of being able to relax, recharge and enjoy these breaks (That I so deserved), I had to worry about the fact that for two weeks Or two months, I wasn’t getting paid. Forget vacations or shopping or anything that required spending Any amount of money. Plus, even when we are getting a paycheck, it seems like Pennies for all the effort that is required of us. And lets not forget, if we want to get paid through the summer, It comes out of our monthly check during the months of over-worked Exhausting days. I love being a teacher, but we all know Teaching is definitely an underpaid career. Who agrees?! All of the things that are required of us to successfully do our job. I remember countless nights at home grading papers with one hand While trying to eat my dinner with the other hand. Staying late to get my classroom ready for the next day, Because I knew, even as exhausted as I was, And how much I wanted to go home and spend time with my family, If I didn’t stay, nothing would be prepared for the next day. And that’s not fair to my students! Having to set up my classroom before actually returning in the fall, Because when we return, it was all meetings and planning for the first week of actually teaching. Summer was supposed to be my time to relax and rejuvenate, right? I refused to be stressed out on those breaks and with the feeling of being under-paid For all the work I was required to do as a teacher. So the search began… That’s when I found this digital marketing business. Now, I feel called to share this opportunity with fellow teachers who want to start building up their futures like I do. Now I have a step-by-step platform, a community of like minded individuals, one on one mentorship and a ticket to escaping my unfulfillment. For now it’s a side gig, but I have the excitement of waking up every day knowing I’m working towards a brighter future for myself and my family and living a life I’ve always dreamed of. I’m using the same exclusive blueprint that my mentors have been able to Make more than their yearly salaries in just a month. If you are one who has the option and can afford to ā€œhold backā€ money for summer pay, Or if you are one who can’t, this can be an option for you. This can be some extra money on the side, Or it can be worked alongside a full-time career. So… Don’t want to be shackled to a career that doesn’t pay adequately for time? Love teaching and want to not have to find some odds and ends job over the summer? Just want a side gig that can help bring in extra for those vacations when there’s time off? It’s time to take action to see if a digital marketing business is the missing link. Hit the message button or comment ā€œMOREā€ below and I will personally reach out. Can’t wait to chat soon!
